The thrilling conclusion to the AFTER post-apocalyptic thriller series!
After a bloody battle with mutant Zapheads, Rachel Wheeler’s life hangs in the balance as the world falls apart around her.
To save Rachel, a small group of survivors must find a missing baby, a hyperintelligent Zaphead with mysterious healing powers. The remaining Zapheads have reverted to mindless, violent savages who want to wipe out the human race. Only Rachel holds the key to understanding them and ending the devastating war.
Even if they succeed, a rogue military leader is imposing his fascist vision of the future. But Rachel and her friends are determined to defend their freedom and humanity at any cost.

This is the last in a series of very enjoyable books that kept me spellbound and well entertained ! The continuity of the characters was quite consistent. The characters never became boring or overwhelmingly predictable as their characters were evolving due to their survival experiences as a group and as individuals.
The surprises that leapt up off the pages of this series certainly added to the lively & entertaining story. Often I would find myself thinking "Hell, I never saw THAT coming !"
While the series was pure fiction there were a few real world issues that occasionally came to light but were gently presented without being 'preachy' or 'in your face'.
These issues were lightly mentioned but just sufficiently enough to 'prompt' some readers to wonder why these 'civilization ending' issues, identified & predicted by experts a decade ago to be capable of killing billions of people, had quite simply gone unaddressed until late last month.
Upgrading and protecting the aging and insufficiently EMP protected North American Electrical Grid will still be a decade or two away. But I digress.
This series was an absolute smash hit with me and I'm sure many other readers. A spell bounding series that I recommend to those interested in the dystopian genre.
Reading the After series has been an interesting experience. It has surpassed its original zombie premise to become much more. This concluding novel is no different. I will miss these characters and wonder where their lives go next.
The last installment of the After series. I have mixed feelings about this book. The first 5 I literally flew through but this one was a little harder to read. I am not sure if it was because I read them all in a row with no breaks to read something else in between or that this one seemed a little too pat. I like how the author wrapped up the series but he does have another that starts 5 years later called Next.
This "After" series is a great read. While there are a few character story lines that in my opinion didn't have as much authenticity as others, or weren't as fully explored or developed. Overall it remains a well done series with a unique deviation from the innumerable variations of zombies that have been done by various other authors.
Just finished the series and bought the next series. Late to the party with this author but so glad I found him. Love post apocalypse fiction and can't believe I had not read anything by him before. The After series a amazing and had me glued to my kindle for days.
This was an excellent post apocalyptic series! It puts a whole different spin on a zombie apocalypse. Great story, great characters, and great narration! Looking forward to more from this author and narrator.
I have really enjoyed the After series. Each book has offered something new to the story that moved quickly away from all too familiar murderous zombies to the birth of the New people. As I knew #6 was the final book in the series I thought the ending was a little weak or maybe I just don’t like happy endings1
I read all 7 so obviously I enjoyed it. There were parts that were unbelievable...ok bad choice of words...out of context to the story; contradicting; but it was still a decent read. The spin-off series sounds similar so, for me, the Zap journey ends here.
Well I read all six. Then I found out that there is another series that picks up five years later. It's just not worth it to me. I personally would not recommend this series.
Please do not base if you will read these books on my opinion. It's my opinion. Try it out for yourself.
I just figured out my review is actually going in the comments section...lol...call me blond...(no stereotyping, my whole family is blond and incredibly smart, I'm just not tablet functional yet?)
