This quick-read novella was just what I was looking for! Exposed: Laid Bare was an exciting, short read that both thrilled me and had me wanting more with it’s interesting characters, steamy scenes and paranormal feel.
Dahlia Vaughn is twenty-six and is an award winning photographer slated to photograph the elusive Lucien Chambers for Lucent Magazine. Dahlia is innocent, shy and an all around good girl but she knows something is missing from her life.
Lucien Chambers is a successful, twenty-nine year old entrepreneur who’s Chicago’s most eligible bachelor. His high success and his amazing good looks are just two of the mysterious things about him. Successful as he is, he’s somewhat of a recluse and we don’t know much about him.
When Dahlia and Lucien meet up, she’s instantly taken from a shy sweetness to a sultry vixen in the blink of an eye and she knows it’s all due to Lucien... even though she doesn't know the exact cause of his powerful pull over her.
Their chemistry is hot and Lucien’s intense vibe is sexy and seductive. He’s so aloof that you never know what he’s thinking and that both intrigued me and lured me in... enough so that I can’t get him out of my head. I want... no NEED, to know more about him. I want to know what he is, how he was able to do the things to Dahlia he did and what it all means for their future... if in fact they have a future.
We get very little insight into him other than one sentence that lets us believe that his pull to her is as strong as her pull to him and I so hope that in the next installment we find out if all this was a game to him or if he really in fact felt more for Dahlia than lust or saw her as more than a plaything.
I absolutely loved the mystery surrounding Lucien. He’s definitely on my “must-stalk” list so I can discover all his secrets!
If you’re looking for a short, interesting, different and thrilling story, this should certainly be added to your read pile. I can’t wait for the next book!

I freaking loved this novella. Lucian is so hot. Some sort of otherworldly man....we just don't have the details yet. So sexy. Can't wait to find out more about him....I can't imagine what he is.

Let me just say this first… I NEED MORE LIKE RIGHT NOW!!! Normally I do not read anything paranormal but after reading the blurb I had to take a chance. I am SO happy I did. Words cannot describe the questions rolling through my head as I was reading this.
First off WHO and or WHAT is Lucien? I mean of course his name alone makes me think one thing but then again the blurb says things are not what they appear. Could I be wrong in what I am thinking? Is this sexy business everything he appears to be? I am literally biting my nails waiting to find out.
Dahlia is so innocent. I really liked her from the get go. But immediately Lucien changed her completely. How can taking photos of someone turn into a hot and sexy romance? At times I felt just like Dahlia. One minute I was thinking this and the next that. As I was reading I was completely sucked into Lucien. I was so obsessed with trying to find answers I literally read this book in 20 minutes. Be ready for a ride that is going to leave you asking… who is Lucien, what is he hiding, can I have him, and when will there be more? This is an excellent novella and I look forward to the next installment.

Hell, where to start with Lucien & Dahlia. I don't know what Lucien is, but, damn, point me in the direction of finding one of his kind. This is something totally new from S.R Grey. I loved Adam Ward, Farren Shaw & swoon just thinking about Chase Gartner but the sex in this is just.., amazing! I love the intrigue of this novella & it has definitely left me wanting.. No, needing, more. Loved this story from page 1 to the end. Cannot wait for more from this steaming hot couple!

I really loved this novella and here is what you need to know :
I found the blurb really attracting (oh just like Lucien Chambers : not a coincidence !) and was obviously dying to read this novella. Just like the three I read before (see my reviews), I enjoyed very much my read. It was a fast reading, compelling and... kind of unsatisfying but in the best way ! Sometimes, a book needs to leave you such a great impression so you want more : it worked perfectly here ! Not only I want to know more about Lucien and Dahlia, but I want to read more of S.R. Grey's books.
I loved the writing : it was smooth, not heavy and above all, I think there were elements I didn't see coming. There were moments I had imagined differently and a puzzling sensuality. The latter was all because of the ambiance of the book and the mystery around the figure of Lucien Chambers. I adore this kind of character ! I want to know more about who and what Lucien is. I was really hooked up by him and what we (Dahlia and I) didn't know about him.
I enjoyed reading about their relation and the fact that it seems to be more than physical... while being really hot between them (understatement of the century !). Again, I want to know more about that and why Dahlia feels this way about him. You could think it was a bit fast but somehow you know there is a good reason for it.
To conclude : you have to read this !

Soooooo hot! It doesn't have to be a long book to completely suck me in and this one certainly did. Lucian is rich, sexy, mysterious, and as Dahlia is soon to find out he is much more than he passes himself off to be.
As long time lover of paranormal books I was absolutely blown away by S.R Grey's first dabble in paranormal romance! It is definitely a bit dark and Lucian is one baaaad boy (in the best sort of way) leaving me very much in need of a cold shower by the time I was done reading. And although we know he is something other than human we never really find out much about him. Which of course left me absolutely NEEDING to know more. As I mentioned it is a bit dark and highly sexual so it might not be for everyone but I can't wait for the next instalment of this story and in my opinion Exposed: Laid Bare is HIGHLY recommended.

I found this to have a shallow plot and the main hero and heroine had no character depth as well. It was robotic and I could barley finish it with NO desire to continue the series.

Wow! This book is nothing like what I expected. That being said, I couldn’t put it down. It was addictive and intriguing.
We meet Dahlia, a 26 year old photographer, who is super picky and quirky. Oh, and a virgin.
“I sure hoped that that something – or someone – happened soon. Mostly because being a virgin at the age of twenty-six was beginning to feel downright embarrassing.”
She is entranced by a man, Lucien, when she goes to photograph him. It doesn’t take her long to realize he isn’t an ordinary man.
“No, Miss Vaughn, I am not an ordinary man.”
Dahlia finds herself inexplicably drawn to him even though she knows he’s dark and dangerous. Even though her cousin and best friend, Veronica doesn’t want her around him.
“I felt as if I were in some twisted fairytale where he was my prince. A dark prince, yes, but a prince nonetheless.”
While I found this story to be quite odd, I also needed to know what was going to happen. I look forward to the next installment to find out what is happening between Dahlia and Lucien. ~ Tiffany, 4 stars

What are you doing to me S. R. Grey?!?!?!?!
I have been staying away from Paranormal because I got so burned out on it...but this had just enough where it wasn't completely overpowering but it left me not just needing to read more but wanting to read more.
With that being said...Lucian...he is a mystery, and we are never answered the one question we long to know, "What is he?". Now I have my theories but I'm keeping those to myself for now...but I do have thoughts as to what he may be or not be.
This was a pretty easy read, it wasn't long but still we got a lot of content in what was there, and on a steaminess level it was a 10 out of 10. I felt a connection with the characters, the author definitely did an amazing job writing the characters.
The ending wasn't a cliffhanger per se but it leaves you wanting more none the less, and I can't wait to read more of this series.

I really enjoyed this novella. It was an interesting story that combined mystery and romance and some steamy sex. It follows Dahlia, a photographer and Lucien, the man that she is hired to photograph. She knows from the moment she meets him he is no ordinary man. She just can't quite figure out what he is. She knows that she needs him in her life, but will he let her in?
I hope there will be more to come with this couple. It is a quick read and I definitely recommend this novella.

First off, many thanks to S.R. Grey and Give Me Books, who provided a free copy of Exposed in exchange for a honest review.
I freaking loved this novella. It is so much more than it seems on the surface. I went into it not knowing that there was a paranormal element to it. I had only seen the teaser picture, and it was pretty enough, and interesting enough, to warrant a request. So, props to whoever created the teaser pic, that was great work. I love the tone of this story - it’s opulent, and rich, it feels like velvet when you’re reading it. But even in the midst of all that beauty you sense that there is something dangerous underneath - something that slithers, and you read with a foreboding sense of anticipation. Barb and I spent the better part of an hour trying to figure out what particular stripe of supernatural Lucien was. We were both stumped, and that never happens.
Dahlia is a very talented young photographer, who is both thrilled and a little intimidated when she is chosen to shoot the elusive Mr. Chambers for a magazine article. Lucien Chambers is notorious for staying out of the limelight, and even though he’s a multimillionaire, there are very few pictures of him in the media. The lack of information about him beyond the very basics is intriguing. Shortly into the shoot, Dahlia takes a close up of his eyes and notices something...off...something not human at all. She is both powerfully attracted to him as well as slightly afraid when he admits that he’s “no ordinary man”. It’s not long before she is pulled along into an encounter. It’s an epic, all night long kind of encounter. The day after Dahlia experiences some surprising after effects - it’s like he was some exotic drug that she is hooked on.
She goes back to the picture, just to confirm to herself that she’s not crazy. What she saw the night before is still there, an otherworldliness in his eyes that she cannot explain. She taps her cousin, Veronica, to do some subtle digging into his past, figuring that there won’t be much for her to find. What she does find was unexpected, and although Veronica was all for Dahlia hooking up with Lucien before the shoot, now she is warning her away. Veronica sees something dangerous in him, while Dahlia only finds something appealing.
By this point in the book I was going slightly nuts trying to figure out just what this guy is. Their second encounter leaves very little clues, and I was STILL unsure. By the end I was only certain about one thing: Mr. Chambers is nowhere near done with Dahlia Vaughn.

Intriguing and Sexy Paranormal
I bought this novella as a part of a six author anthology, entitled INTRIGUE where proceeds of the book went to different charities, each individually chosen by the authors, for a period of three months. To say I thoroughly enjoyed SR’s story is an understatement, as it took me back to my contemporary paranormal roots.
Dahlia is an award winning photographer, yet despite that, she is also a woman with very little confidence. She’s also been awarded the assignment of photographing the elusive and exceptionally handsome Lucien Chambers.
On his part, there is not much information publicly available for Lucien or the Chambers family in general. They are worth huge amounts of money, and Lucien is extremely wealthy and successful in his own right. He also doesn’t do any sort of publicity so this is something that will make or break Dahlia’s career.
When Dahlia approached his property where the photo shoot was to take place, the atmosphere of the book took a turn from a potentially light-hearted romance to quite intense and heavy as she stepped from her car and walked to the door with its’ almost gothic-type door knockers. Definitely a turn in the direction of preternatural.
Dahlia is completely entranced by Lucien, and for a moment he appears to be more than fleetingly interested in her, certainly doing more with her than posing for photos. Until he goes from hot to cold. When she informs him, however, that she has a close up photo that shows more it should, he mysteriously re-appears.
This was a novella that I thoroughly enjoyed, yet had never followed up on in the past. Now that I know that it the first in a four part series, I’ll definitely be reading the rest. 4 Stars for SR’s first foray into novella territory with this sexy paranormal read.

Exposed: Laid Bare is all those things and more and will leave you with a book hangover, desperately hunting out the next in the series.
Dahlia may be in her mid-twenties but this shy photographer isn’t used to being in the spotlight to being anyone’s centre of attention for that matter. She likes her life behind the lens.
But tasked with taking photos of the reclusive Lucien Chambers she wasn’t to know that her world was change more than she could have ever imagined.
Lucien, has it all, money, power, success, prestige and acclaim but there is something else that draws you to this character, his charm, his enigmatic aura means that the mystery surrounding him had me completely hooked almost from the second his name appeared on my kindle screen.
When Dahlia meets him, the pull is electric and the effect he has on her is powerful. He brings out a side of her that even she didn’t know she had but one that she can fully embrace.
But is the feeling mutual or is she no more than a means of amusement for a man with nothing more interesting to distract him?
As with all good mysteries and I do think of this as being a mystery in some respects, very little is given away!

I seriously had no idea what to expect with this novella. I am a HUGE supporter of this author as she is amazing with her words. But a novella? Usually I am not a fan of them. I always want more. Paranormal? Hmmm. Not my usual, but....I am SO glad I decided to read this. It was mysterious and interesting and I am super excited about what’s to come.
So Lucien Chambers. There’s something sexy and mysterious about him.Dahlia Vaughn is instantly attracted to him and there’s no mistake why. Dahlia has been tasked with photographing Lucien. And she cannot stop thinking about him. They have some serious chemistry. When these two are together, it’s hot. Addicting. You have no idea what is to come next. It keeps you guessing as Lucien is unpredictable. I am excited about finding out more about this...man.
Overall, I found this to be a quick read and am hoping the next installment gets deeper into the paranormal aspect. Who is Lucien? Where did he come from? What is he? I have so many questions. I will definitely be reading the rest in this series.

It's a different read from SR Grey's usual work as she ventures into the paranormal genre. She has created a character i Lucien wh o you will like to loathe, be suspicious of and find very creepy all at once. He is a complete mystery but I found myself wanting to know more about him. The author has given us enough to whet our appetites for Lucien and to leave us wanting/needing more.
Dahlia is our story-teller on this occasion. She is portrayed in several ways; from professional in her work to vulnerable when it comes to her love life. She appears to be lost in the moment at times and if feels as though she has succumbed to some type of compulsion with her actions.
The romance is a sexy one and not for the kids on this occasion. Let me say this however, Ms Grey sure does know how to write a sex scene. *fans self*
The book has an open ending but does feel finished for now.
Overall, a great start to a new series and I can't wait to find out what happens next.

Dahlia is an amazing photographer and she has been hired to do a photoshoot of Chicago's most eligible bachelor, Lucien Chambers. She is excited about it, no one gets to photograph him!
Lucien Chambers is the hot multi-millionaire businessman. He is also very secretive and mysterious.
Things change for Dahlia once she gets to his house for the shoot though.
"I'd gone from a virginal, scared young woman to a lustful horny-ass vixen."
She knows that Lucien has some sort of power over her. But the million dollar questions are how and what exactly is he? Is he human? Not human? Human plus something else?
I am left wanting so much more of these characters, and that's a great thing. I read so much, it's hard to find a book that leaves me this curious.

Wow! This book is nothing like what I expected. That being said, I couldn’t put it down. It was addictive and intriguing.
We meet Dahlia, a 26 year old photographer, who is super picky and quirky. Oh and a virgin. “I sure hoped that that something – or someone – happened soon. Mostly because being a virgin at the age of twenty-six was beginning to feel downright embarrassing.” She is entranced by a man, Lucien, when she goes to photograph him. It doesn’t take her long to realize he isn’t an ordinary man. “No, Miss Vaughn, I am not an ordinary man.”
Dahlia finds herself inexplicably drawn to him even though she knows he’s dark and dangerous. Even though her cousin and best friend, Veronica doesn’t want her around him. “I felt as if I were in some twisted fairytale where he was my prince. A dark prince, yes, but a prince nonetheless.”
While I found this story to be quite odd, I also needed to know what was going to happen. I look forward to the next installment to find out what is happening between Dahlia and Lucien. (4 stars)

I thought it was a great book! I loved that it took the normal and added a little twist. The only thing I truly hate was that it was so short; my mouth had just started to water! Now, I'm a little angsty waiting for the next book.
I wasn't originally expecting it to be a paranormal, and haven't read them in years. Lucien Chambers is sexy, enigmatic and compelling. Dahlia is a photographer of the highest "good girl" order. When the two meet, she is inexplicably drawn to him. She is hired to do a photo shoot. Then he flips the script and takes photos of her.
~"With his eyes still holding mine in a seeming trance, he opened the front of my dress, exposing both of my breasts. I leaned back my head and gasped.."~
Although you're seeing things from Dahlia's perspective, as you do not get much from Lucian, you intuit things from his actions, his movements when he's with Dahlia.
What a great tease!!!! Can't wait for the next book.

This book is hard to 'shelve' on the one hard it's a rich billionaire meets cool, calm and innocent girl and the other hand it's rich billionaire with spidey senses meets naive, pliable and accomadating innocent girl.
Either way, I enjoyed this read, I now take heed of the 'Nothing is as it seems' lol. I was a little shocked at first, yeah yeah, I'd gone in blind, I love giving myself no idea of what's to come. And after the initial shock I was ok, cool, this is a little wicked spin on a billionaire read.
Lucian, crikey this man had me getting wet! I wanted to look into his eyes and feel the 'force' I really did! Brooding, arrogant and charasmatic indeed. I do wish in one way this had been developed more, it would have been great to get both POV's, and more indepth of why he does what he does but oh boy I'm invested in their relationship and I am very much looking forward to finding out where this goes next.

What a Read! 5 Steamy Stars!
I am a lover of all things paranormal, it is my absolute favorite genre. Wow! Kudos S. Grey! She had taken this to another level entirely. I was ducked right into this book, thankful it's s nice quick read, otherwise who knows how long I would have been checked out with my nose in the book because I know I couldn't put it down! (Too quick I need the next one now!) I adore Lucian, he is something else. Literally. I keep trying to guess, and I hope I'm right, how awesome would that be? I'm not going to say, what I think though so I don't put preconceived ideas out there, and oh yeah, I could be wrong. Then we have Dahlia, Lucian holds a very strong pull for her and she has no idea what that even means yet. Although neither do we. This story has a steam factor of ten out of ten whoo! Talk about hooked! I am the fish at the end of the line hanging in there. This novella is the "appetizer" that will entice you into trying to find out more about Lucien.
There have been book boyfriends in the past who are full of mystery, HOT-ness, and allure. Lucien tops them all. When Dahlia first meets him in person her reaction is immediate. There is something beyond reason, that drives her toward him. Being 26 years old and a virgin, she has resisted men all her life while waiting of "the one" to sweep her off her feet. No amount of warning from her best friend will keep her away from Lucien. It is a driving need to be with him.

First off I must say Ms. Grey has popped my parnormal cherry!!!! I didn't love or hate this book, it was different for me since it was my first. I find that it was well written, had a a mystery around the storyline that kept me wanting more. I even had started to fall in love with the characters. With this being said I would recommend it to others who haven't read parnormal before.
Lucien is the most elegable bachalor but there just something about him that makes Dahila think he isn't human. Dahila has been granted to take pictures of Lucien. She captures something that she is sure others don't get to see...Lucien's soul.
Can Dehila figure Lucien out?

Expose: Laid Bare by S.R. Grey is a quick and steamy book that will keep your attention from the very beginning until the end...actually my attention was still on this book after I finished reading, because I was trying to figure out what exactly was going on with Lucien. I have a guess....but definitely read it yourself and form your own opinion. The chemistry between Dahila and Lucien is on point, the sex is hot, and this book definitely leaves you wanting more. Great read....looking to read more from this author.

This was a great first book. I picked it up and couldn't put it down. I wanted to know more. I didn't get much more, but this is a first book. Can't give it all away in the first book. I think charters aren't really real; can't relate, or even think of someone who could. This does still suck you in. I have so many questions, so let's get this next going so I can get more information. Wanting more shows that I enjoyed this story, well written, and me craving more. That is what I want from a book.
