At first glance, I thought Drawing the Dead would be rather morbid and depressing. However, after reading it, I realized it was far from that. The main character, Viki, had so many layers and was fascinating to read about. The story was captivating and unlike anything I have read. It was exactly my kind of novel. I loved every second of it and would definitely like to read more about Viki. I also kept thinking that the novel would make a great movie, as the characters were very likable. I highly recommend this novel. It is a quick read, and it will leave you wanting more.
Wow!....Wow! I hardly even know where to start on this review of "Drawing the Dead". Do you know those books that you read and then they stay with you long after you read the last page and regretfully close the book? Well this is one of those books for me. It's day's after I finished it and I still find it popping into my thoughts at odd times. Honestly, I'm in awe of Mr. McCarter's imagination. I mean, how do you imagine something like this? Someone with special abilities who draws a picture of someone's dead loved one and brings that drawing to life? Well, no matter how he thought of it Robert McCarter has done an amazing job of bringing that idea to life. These character's (alive and dead) came to life on the pages for me. I loved Viki and I was so happy to see old friend's like JJ, Jesus and Banquo in cameo's :) Thank you again Mr. McCarter for the chance to read the latest in your series of books imagining life after death :) Folks, DO read all of these books (Shuffled Off, To Be a Fool and Drawing the Dead! They are WONDERFUL! You'll want to hug, shake, cheer on and shout at these characters. They are SO real, you'll imagine them as part of your life. Your family. You'll want to continue to follow them. I'm sure of it :)
Interesting book about a woman who can draw pictures of the dead to create a gateway for the dead and the living to talk to each other. The main character tended to be a bit one-dimensional and some of the plot events seemed to repeat a bit too frequently. That said, I still enjoyed the originality of the story and look forward to reading more books by this author.
I love the different approach of communicating with ghosts through sketches of the deceased. A great tie in with books 1 & 2 in the Ghost Memoirs series, so we get to see JJ & his ghostly friends from the other perspective. A great read.
A truly unique view of life, death, the supernatural, and the differing ways people cope with all of them. Well developed characterizations and plot line kept me reading till I finished the book. More than ready for more!

Found on FreeBooksy - EXCELLENT STORY - exciting, characters you can care about, with a BIG splash of " woo-woo" from Sedona - loved it! I see its part of a series, I'll be checking that out.
I received this book from The Fussy Librarian. I enjoyed the different take on communicating with the dead and the touch of romance to go along with it. A great read.
