Kelsey is a young recent college grad who is yearning to get her foot in the door and start the dream career she had always hoped for. She is stuck at a job she doesn’t like surrounded by people who don’t appreciate her efforts. Her life is dull and nothing like she had imagined it would be by now. Fate has a way of colliding into us from angles unseen and when Kelsey runs into Brandon everything changes.
Brandon is an MMA fighter who became a billionaire before he was thirty. His life is fast paced and too full for him to have a moment to relax and enjoy his life. Kelsey is looking for something more in life and Brandon is seeking for less of what his life now throws at him.
Kelsey finished college and imagined her life slightly different to how it actually is, instead of having her pick of jobs and a nice office she's stuck in a cubicle working a job she hates and she can't see a way out but then she meets Brandon the billionaire MMA fighter and the question is can these two unhappy lost souls help each other. This is a short read and not exactly what I was expecting, it's very cute and very sweet, insta-love or at least insta-attraction kind of romance. I wasn't sure if I actually liked Kelsey that much, I found her a little annoying and although Brandon was lovely it's hard to believe that such a hot good looking MMA billionaire would be quite so shy and nervous around women. If you want a quick feel good sweet read then this could be exactly what you're looking for.
Umm.. it was okay for what it was but there was really no story to it.. it jumped around a lot. Kind of like a pilot to a new show that will NEVER get picked up by a tv station. Kind of pointless. Though I recommend everyone read to make their own opinion. I will say that if you do pick this one up.. READ DO NOT LISTEN.. the narrator is horrible. She literally read everything front to back including the copyright page, dates, publisher, location etc. etc. She also has no concept of tone. The very first few sentences talk about how badly things were going for the heroine but her voice tone and inflection was LOUD, hyper and CHEERY. Tell me.. unless you're happy about everything going horribly wrong for you; which most people are not, You should not sound like it's just the best thing in the world to happen. And this tone of voice went on throughout the ENTIRE book. Nobody is that freaking happy all of the time. Narrating is like acting, even though we can't see you, we should be able to feel the tone of the book through your voice.. If I listen to the words and can tell that the author intends anger but you sound happy. THAT is a problem. It's only an hour and a half or so listen but it was the longest listen ever because of the narrator.
So I wanted to read this book because at the time out of 7 ratings it was below a 3 star, and I wanted to know why. OK I am not going to bash this book because this could be the author's first book and believe me I am no author myself. So the story felt rushed, I mean everything happened within a week. She bumps into him running into the ice shop and then he walks her to her car and that very night they out for dinner. Within a few days she is watching his MMA fight and next thing you know its "sexy" time after the flight in the locker room on the floor. I wanted more from this book, like more character development. The scene where she was called into her boss's office..like what was up with Melinda trying to get her fired and why? I mean it was left hanging. I wish it was more of plot in this book.
I downloaded this via Kindle Unlimited because I had a free trial and I love MMA. It was also a short read, which sounded perfect after a busy day.
However, whilst Billionaire Fighter started off well, things soon became pretty unrealistic. I liked how the characters met--it reminded me of a few other books--and I thought it was going to set up some interesting situations. But, the whole novella after that felt really rushed. It seemed like the author tried to fit too many scenes/events into such a small amount of space, and I never really engaged with what was going on. To me, it was like reading a long list of activities being described rather than living them. Things happened, but not in enough detail for me to care.
Similarly it left me disengaged from the characters. I felt their romance was way too quick especially for someone like Brandon; he trusted too easily. He mentioned he had trouble meeting people because of his money, yet he let Kelsey in straight away?? I just didn't buy their story. Maybe if the book was longer and it took place over a few month, but not a few weeks.
Overall, whilst this was a quick, easy read, I don't think it met its full potential. It has the bones to become an I retesting story but, the writing and pacing needs work.
I prefer books with more backstory... Weather historical, suspense, drama, erotica or comedy, I nod more than boy meets girl, boy likes girl, girl likes boy, they get together, the end.
It may simply be a matter of taste. So I only removed one star.
Wtf did I just read. My head hurts. Not sure the writer re-read her work to proof read it. Words missing and many misspelt, characters jumbled up, incorrect idioms,
I'm not sure how this book end up in my iBooks list to read. Probably because it was free.
This was an ok read but something I will not visiting again It's lacking with emotion and depth. I'm just reading it not feeling it. I don't even know the colours of the characters eyes.
