Dr. Chuck Missler's Prophecy 20/20 is a comprehensive, easily digested book that will give you a basic understanding of how past events fulfilled biblical prophecy. It provides a strategic grasp of prophecy that equips you to clearly see the "prophetic moment" of current events. Chuck Missler, founder of Koinonia House, analyzes trends on the geopolitical and technological horizons as well as their implications for the coming years.
Charles "Chuck" Missler was an author, evangelical Christian, and Bible teacher, and former businessman and Air Force officer. He is the founder of the Koinonia House ministry based in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. Chuck Missler, an honors graduate of the United States Naval Academy, earned his Master of Science in Engineering from UCLA.[1] In 1999, Missler received a Ph.D. in biblical studies from the unaccredited Louisiana Baptist University in Shreveport,[2] an institution founded by the late minister Jimmy G. Tharpe.
Missler is consistently mind-blowing. I listen to him on the radio whenever possible, and have heard him speak a couple of times. My husband considers him a bit of a whacko. I think Dr. Missler would take that as a compliment.
I love his passion, but mostly his amazing mind. He could recite the Bible backwards, he knows it so well. (I challenge anyone who wants to criticize him to learn the Bible that well first!)
Dr. Missler is always brave and integritous enough to be willing to discuss ideas which he sees adequate evidence for, despite popular opinion's whining that such things are too bazaar for "enlightened" post-modern conversation. Because of this courage and his years of dedication to in-depth study and research, his down-to-earth humility and transparency, the excellence of his teaching, and his all-out brilliance, he is one of my favorite teacher / authors. I will have to read this book again to really be able to comment specifically on it - I am writing this review a few years after reading it - but it definitely improved my antennae for events we are seeing in the daily news that are "Biblical" in the prophetic sense, as well as my confidence that a "basic" Christian such as myself can learn and discern in this area. This is very faith-building.
As an aside, one of the things I enjoy the most about Dr. Missler is that he is willing to sometimes depart from his research-based academic presentation to tell us things he suspects to be true, but can't prove, always carefully disclaiming himself - I have never seen any other expository author be that transparent and willing to risk. It is pretty cool to be allowed to see these occasional glimpses into how his mind works and where his thoughts lead. As a person who trusts intuition as a valid way of knowing, I find this to be uniquely excellent reading.
Thank you, Dr. Missler, for everything you contribute for thinking Christians!
When I first saw the title, I was worried. I thought he was alluding to prophecy predictions for the year 2020. I have since figured it out: it is a reference to the tv show 20/20, or perhaps 20/20 vision. As such, the book is fairly useful, although I disagree on some major points.
Structure and Flow of the Book
Each chapter is short, allowing for easier reading. Indeed, one suspects much of this material is from Missler’s own teaching ministry over the decades. The book’s goal is“to present a strategic global perspective from a Biblical prophecy point of view.”
Boundaries of Reality
Missler’s early chapters summarize his teaching from the “Beyond” series. I am not sure how they directly relate to the overall thesis, but they were interesting reading, nonetheless. For example, Planck length: pace Zeno’s paradox, we cannot divide an entity beyond 10^-33. This is nonlocality, or when an object no longer possesses a dimension.
Bohm’s argument: at the subatomic level, location ceases to exist, meaning “all points in space become equal to all other points in space” (Missler).
Prophecy
For the Hebrew mind, prophecy is a pattern. Missler says the coming Antichrist will be an Assyrian. If Nimrod was a type of Antichrist, to which even some Amillennialists hold, it makes sense that the ultimate Antichrist will be some sort of Assyrian.
As is often the case with some Dispensationalists, Missler thinks the identity of Gog/Magog is in Russia. He is wrong, but his argumentation is interesting. He connects Gog/Magog with the ancient Scythians, whose descendants now inhabit southern Russia and Ukraine. But he is not consistent. It is not clear how Gog/Magog can be in Russia but the coming Antichrist is an Assyrian. He does occasionally allude to modern-day Turkey, and that could work. Turkey is actually where Gog/Magog is located.
Tentative Speculations
Writing in the late 2000s/early 2010s, some of his speculations are off. He is correct, for example, that opening America’s oil reserves, while the right thing to do, will not substantially alleviate any oil crises in the world, nor did oil shortages have the impact on China that he anticipated.
Conclusion
I read Missler for suggestions, not for anything else. He was very strong on physics and defense-speculations but somewhat lacking in exegesis.
Bible Prophecy and all the statics you can handle!
I love Chuck Missler... Fascinating insight into biblical principles and scripture. I don't agree 100% on everything he teaches... I would say about 95%. But when I read his books it inspires and increases my faith. Great teacher of God's word.
It’s actually quite good! Just not for me. I’d rather take scripture and try to puzzle piece out the future than take what’s happening and see how I can fit it in with scripture.
It’s quite good, it’s just for a different mindset. I just wants more scripture study.
A simple , deep and eye opening book on how today’s world is connected to the Word of God. A good book to read for all those engaged in the study of end times.
Chuck Missler was very knowledgable about the bible and many of the sciences. This is a wonderful book that reflects our current times. He was ahead of him time.
Very interesting and enlightening book. I wish it had been updated since 2006 (maybe it has been??) since a lot has happened in the last 15+ years that could be considered relevant.
This book is chock full of information on many subjects. Missler ties them all together – or at least attempts to. He describes the Bible as “an integrated message system…that transcends the insights of the individual contributors.” Anyone who has read and attempted to understand the entire Bible would agree with this and with Missler’s assertion that the Bible originated outside of time since history is written before it happens.
Another main point is the fact that even scientists today recognize that the physical universe has four dimensions – not just three. The fourth dimension is time. The scientific information interested me though some of it was difficult to comprehend.
There is much history, much biblical prophesy, much description of various end time events and a great deal of very scary information about where we are now. He covers current weapons of mass destruction, biotechnology and diseases, the recurring conflict over Jerusalem, the rise of Islam, and the thrust toward one world government – and more.
The book is excellent in many respects though I have several criticisms. The chapters do not flow or tie together well. I also wish he had included an index. Finally, his ending is lame. He demonstrates throughout the book that the signs suggest we are nearing end times. In the final chapter (five pages long) he says don’t believe me, do your own research. 2. Find out in alternative media what’s going on. And the ultimate issue is the identity of Jesus Christ. I wanted more. Missler offers no thoughts about what the church must do to prepare for the end times. I recently reviewed a similar book on prophesy, Implosion, by Joel Rosenberg, which gives positive suggestions for all Christians to get serious and pray for revival in this country.

I have just started reading, but am already up to chapter six. Dr. Missler has also gone into quantum physics and that kind of lost me a little. (I really had a hard time understanding that aspect) He is using this to show how science and prophecy coincide with each other.
Very well written and interesting points. Very well researched, but as mentioned by the author...it's to be taken as a grain of salt until individual research is done.
