소설은 근대 소설에서 잘 다뤄지지 않던 여성 문화를 중심으로 끌고 와 다니자키 준이치로 특유의 여성에 대한 숭배 의식과 수려한 문체로 그려 낸다. 일본의 전통 문화, 특히 간사이 문화에 대한 애정으로 써 내려간 이 작품은 탐미주의와 에로티즘에 국한되지 않는 그가 일구어 낸 폭 넓은 문학 세계를 여실히 증명하는 역작이다. 다니자키 준이치로는 이 작품으로 아사히 문화상, 마이니치 출판문화상을 받고, 이듬해 정부로부터 문화 훈장을 수여받으면서 국민적인 작가의 반열에 올랐다.

About the author

Jun'ichirō Tanizaki (谷崎 潤一郎) was a Japanese author, and one of the major writers of modern Japanese literature, perhaps the most popular Japanese novelist after Natsume Sōseki.

Some of his works present a rather shocking world of sexuality and destructive erotic obsessions; others, less sensational, subtly portray the dynamics of family life in the context of the rapid changes in 20th-century Japanese society.

Frequently his stories are narrated in the context of a search for cultural identity in which constructions of "the West" and "Japanese tradition" are juxtaposed. The results are complex, ironic, demure, and provocative.

Kansai é o coração do Japão em tudo o que há de bom e de ruim e este livro é a síntese dessa região. Uma família burguesa decandente que vive em Ashiya e luta para manter sua classe no final dos anos 30, às vésperas da Guerra do Pacífico: este o retrato desse país.

Ponto de destaque: a cena que se passa no bairro em que morei, com reclamações sobre tanta ladeira.

就如書背所寫的「細雪正是以無窮細節堆積起來的，懸崖貴族平金織錦的長篇畫軸。」

本書的鋪陳相當長，中途可能會讀到不耐煩吧，不過我個人倒是沒有那方面的困擾。
讀到最後終於迎來算是好的結局，感覺結尾還算不錯。

還是認為<<春琴抄>>比較值得閱讀。
