A good addition to the world of WOOL. It's short, sweet and takes me back to a place that I have particularly fond memories of.

A captivating look into the formation of the silos.
We get a good view of how the cryogenic chambers came about. As we have learned, there was always much mis-information and secrecy surrounding everything to do with them from the very beginning, and this theme continues making a twisty and fascinating story.
I enjoyed this book very much and will be adding it to my favorites folder to be read again sometime in the future when I revisit the Wool universe in its entirety.

What???
Being a fan of Howey's Silo series, I've always been excited to read from the spin-off authors. While being good, this story was lacking. It hopped and skipped around in time, people's names changed, and it just seemed to end without a satisfactory purpose or conclusion. Why did I give it a 4 star rating? Anybody who attempts to write a follow-up story to a Hugh Howey book, deserves at least that much; he's a hard man to follow.

Short story set in the Wool universe. Mostly enjoyed it but it jumped between two different time periods and I had a little trouble keeping track of who was who.

good addition
Good addition to wool, but the multiple names got confusing even in a short story. Im. Ot a fan of open endings, but I think this is a series?

Really good writing style and grim tone mirroring the Wool stories, I liked how this fleshed out side story ran with some of the ideas. I did get a little confused at times, but maybe that's from it being a while since reading Shift rather than any problem with the story itself (other than it being only a short one!)
Returning to re-read after the Silo series and it stands up pretty well. Maybe a little zippy around some of the details, but I really liked the idea of digging into a relatively unknown named character's history.
