Beyond Reasonable Doubt?
On 17th June, 1970, in a small farming district, south of Auckland, New Zealand, Harvey and Jeanette Crewe were shot and killed in the lounge of their home. Five months later, a neighbour, Arthur Allan Thomas, was arrested, charged and found guilty of their murder. He was sentenced to life imprisonment. A retrial in 1972 ended with another guilty verdict.
David Yallop, author of To Encourage the Others and The Day the Laughter Stopped, two already celebrated books which dealt with miscarriages of justice, spent over a year in New Zealand investigating the case and became convinced of Thomas' innocence. in an open letter to New Zealand's Prime Minister, he demanded Thomas' release on the grounds that he 'has not been found guilty beyond reasonable doubt. He has in fact been found innocent beyond reasonable doubt.' In 1978, as a direct result of Yallop's intercession and the publication of this book, Thomas was granted a royal pardon and, in 1980, awarded nearly 1 million dollars in compensation for the nine years he had served behind bards.

Non-fiction
Presenting overwhelming evidence that Arthur Allen Thomas did not commit the murders of 1970, for which he was convicted and served time!
Badly handled prosecution by New Zealand police (possibly protecting one of their own) which has led to police testimony to be considerd suspect ever since in our courts.
Sadly remains a book that every Kiwi (residents of NZ) should read.
Yallop, of 'In God's Name' fame at his best...

THE PROOF THE DEVIL IS AMONG US!
In June 1970, a married couple were murdered in the Waikato, in New Zealand. In 1973, Arthur Allan Thomas was wrongly prosecuted a second time for the double murder and imprisoned for the second time. The prosecutions were a theatre of Legalistic semantics, circumstantial evidence and complete speculation. There was no chain of evidence against the innocent accused and there was no Forensic evidence against Arthur Thomas either. The Judges summing up at two Trials reflected the massive inbalance of inconclusive evidence and complete speculation against the innocent accused, but to no avail, Arthur Allan Thomas was imprisoned twice! Then, David Yallop came to the rescue with his book "Beyond Reasonable Doubt" in 1978 with supporting evidence of the circumstantial evidence and pure speculation which imprisoned Arthur Thomas twice. David Yallop wrote a letter to New Zealand Prime Minister Robert Muldoon who considered the circumstantial evidence against Arthur Thomas. A Royal Commission of Inquiry with a Royal Pardon culminated but the killer walked away free! Although David Yallop identified the killer in the book, again, the killer walked away free! David Yallop describes how the Judiciary and the Authorities treated the innocent accused with contempt. Two Trial Juries accepted the Frivolous evidence and speculation made against Arthur Thomas which wrongly resulted with two imprisonments. The national media focused on the innocent accused, the killer walked away free! New Zealand public attention focused on the innocent accused, the killer still walked away free! A movie was made about what the innocent accused endured, the killer has continued to walk away free! What credible explanation can there possibly be for this situation? Take a moment and look at what everyone is doing. What is really happening here? There is a spiritual influence here which has absolutely everyone BEWITCHED! Satans WITCHCRAFT has everyone either looking in the wrong direction; looking at the wrong person and focused on doing the wrong things while the killer has continued to walk away free time and time again! The nation, its people and its institutions are being subjected to WITCHCRAFT and they manifested collectively what is tantamount to Evil. An intense and intricate book about the murders of Harvey & jeanette Crewe in New Zealand. As tragic as the double murders were, so too was the wrongful conviction and imprisonment of Arthur Thomas. This book goes into great detail about the murders and the trials and leaves one in no doubt that Thomas' conviction was an immense miscarriage of justice.

My relatives in New Zealand turned me on to this story. Shady characters, lies and police corruption make this an excellent read. Better that fiction.
