Ahhh, I just love the Doctor, especially Eleven. I missed him. I think he was written pretty well in these first 5 issues, especially in the last 2. I didn't really like the art in the first 3 issues--it was pretty boring and Eleven looked really creepy. The last 2 issues though were nicer, with thinner sketch lines and a more simplistic style.I like Alice, the companion in this series, especially since she feels different from the companions on the show. Really, not the *best* comic book volume I've ever read (definitely read better), but I just love Doctor Who and Eleven so much and I don't watch the show anymore so it's super fun being in this world again. Very glad I got 3 volumes of this series out of the library!!

Y empezamos con los cómic en español del Undécimo Doctor, interpretado en televisión por Matt Smith. La verdad es que he cogido este cómic con muchas ganas, porque siempre es una alegría volver a las historias de una de mis series preferidas. Siempre digo que del NewWho, mi doctor preferido es el Décimo, pero por Undécimo siento una especial debilidad, porque fue con el Doctor con el que empece a ver la serie y siempre me gusto la idea de que fuera un anciano con la cara de un joven y el comportamiento y el corazón de un niño. Al menos en apariencia…
Me ha gustado mucho este cómic y lo que he leído. No ha tenido nada que desmerecer a una temporada de la serie. Y es que, a diferencia de lo que pasaba en los cómic previos del Décimo Doctor, aquí el tomo se divide en varios capítulos con aventuras independientes, pero todas interconectadas por una trama común. He valorado mucho esto.
Si hay algo que me chirría de estos tomos es que al Doctor no le acompañen sus companions televisivos. Al Undécimo, en este caso, le acompaña Alice, una mujer que acaba de perder a su madre y a su empleo, y que está en una situación psicológica y personal muy mala cuando conoce al protagonista de nuestras aventuras y empieza a viajar con él a través del tiempo y el espacio en la TARDIS. A diferencia de otros companions originales de los cómic, Alice me ha encantando , he conectado mucho con ella. No es nada para nada una jovencita que busca aventuras o aprender del Doctor, es una mujer valiente y madura que ya tiene una edad. Esto último lo he valorado mucho y me ha parecido todo un puntazo, junto al arco de evolución personal que ha tenido a lo largo del tomo. Me ha gustado mucho su personalidad y la forma en que tiene ideas propias y sabe plantarle cara al doctor cuándo es necesario. Es algo muy agradable de ver, cuando lo normal es que todos los acompañantes del personaje hagan más bien lo contrario. Resulta refrescante ver esta tónica que, además, da otra perspectiva de las dinámicas del Doctor con sus compañeros y lo que supone viajar en la TARDIS.
Mención especial para el personaje de John Jones, que aparece en los últimos capítulos. Ojalá que también le veamos en los siguientes tomos de la serie, me ha parecido un personaje muy interesante y que puede dar de sí y evolucionar mucho, teniendo en cuenta, especialmente, lo que sabemos de él y su futuro. Y también mención especial a Arc, por supuesto. Pobrito mío, ojalá que también descubra mundo con ellos en los próximos capítulos…
En general le pongo un sobresaliente alto a este cómic. Me ha gustado mucho que la personalidad del Doctor se haya mantenido muy cercana a lo que hemos visto en la serie de televisión. Si algo tengo que no me gustó de los cómic del Décimo fue que la personalidad de esta encarnación quedaba muy desdibujada respecto a lo que veíamos por televisión. Las diferentes aventuras que hemos visto en el cómic han sido muy variadas e interesantes. El arte también ha sido muy variado y me ha gustado, en algunos capítulos más que en otros, pero en general lo he valorado y disfrutado mucho, hay auténticas ilustraciones que son una pasada visual de ver. El ritmo narrativo ha estado siempre muy bien llevado, en ningún momento ha decaído el interés por lo que se estaba leyendo.

After limping my way through the Tenth Doctor's series, I was pleasantly surprised by just how good this first volume of the Eleventh Doctor's adventures are. Then I checked the front cover, and saw that it was Al Ewing and Rob Williams writing, and the lightbulb went on.
Set just after Amy and Rory's wedding, this volume sees the Eleventh Doctor recruiting a new companion in the way of Alice Obiefune, a forty year old library assistant who has just lost her mother, and heading off on a series of short adventures wherein the pair of them kind of feel each other out to see what kind of relationship they're going to have.
I have to say, I love Alice. She's definitely in the Donna Noble mould of someone who can challenge the Doctor on his bull without the worry of falling in love with him, and she's not afraid to call him out when he's being a dick. Her backstory makes for some interesting story opportunities as well.
The stories themselves are short and sweet, but there's a through-line about the SERVEYOU company that links them all together into what I assume will be the year-long arc. We also get some more companions as the volume progresses, both of whom are as odd as they come.
The artwork's really the only place that this one falls down - Simon Fraser's issues are okay, but everyone looks like they're made of rubber, while Boo Cook's jerky pencils come across a bit unfinished.
An excellent start for the Eleventh Doctor, even if the visuals fumble a little. More like this, please.

Alienígenas, otros planetas, misterio, compañeros fantásticos y el undécimo doctor. ¡Una combinación estupenda!
En este cómic seguimos al undécimo Doctor que hace nuevos amigos y se mete en nuevos líos. Viaja en el tiempo y en el espacio para encontrar nuevas aventuras.
Me ha encantado este cómic, la personalidad del undécimo Doctor en esta historia es perfecta. Alice también me ha parecido un personaje genial.
Y hay un misterio en estas historias que se va enlazando y tengo mucha curiosidad por ver a dónde lleva, espero que cuenten más en los siguientes.

Surely I would have gotten started on Doctor Who if I didn't have kids making me watch it, right? Sometimes I just feel appallingly out of it. But not when I'm reading or watching the Doctor; then I feel out of it in an amusingly clueless way. Sure, bowties and fezzes are cool. How does anyone ever survive their own parents?

No dejes nunca de apuntar al hombre con el destornillador, Hart. “Hoy no va a haber pelea” dijo un hombre sabio una vez. Fui yo, soy el hombre sabio.
Vida tras la muerte, el primer cómic que nos trae Fandogamia sobre el Undécimo Doctor, interpretado por el grandísimo Matt Smith, me ha ENCANTADO. Y el principal motivo de esto es que considero que mantiene toda la esencia de la serie de televisión, es decir, que ha habido momentos que me han hecho reír a carcajadas (más de lo que me esperaba y todo) y otros momentos que me han hecho reflexionar sobre temas complicados y que también tienen mucho peso en la serie, como es el tema de los acompañantes del Doctor.
El cómic se sitúa en un momento temporal en el que el Doctor, tras reiniciar el universo con un segundo Big Bang, llega a ver como Rory y Amy se casan y regalándoles una luna de miel para recordar. Luego, dejando que los Pond se ajusten a su vida de casados, el Doctor viaja solo por el universo y acaba encontrando una nueva acompañante, Alice Obiefume (exclusiva de los cómics, no aparece en la serie de televisión en ningún momento).
¡No seas críptica! Críptico soy yo, ya me lo he pedido. ¡Tú no puedes ser críptica!
El cómic se compone de varios capítulos cortos que constituyen aventurillas independientes en diferentes lugares del Universo, no obstante, hay un hilo conductor común que toma fuerza en los últimos dos capítulos y que nos revela un misterio del que hemos visto trocitos aquí y allá durante los primeros capítulos. A pesar de ello, aunque esta trama conductora se acaba revelando, hay un misterio que todavía no ha sido desvelado: el por qué el Doctor ve una misteriosa figura de vez en cuando (figura que los fans reconocerán inmediatamente, pero de la que no digo nada por los spoilers). Consigue totalmente crearte la necesidad de tener el siguiente cómic del Undécimo en las manos para descubrir más de este asunto.
Como ya he mencionado, creo que el tomo ofrece una reflexión interesante sobre los acompañantes y el tema de los viajes en el tiempo, ya que Alice le echa en cara al Doctor que la anime a huir de todos sus problemas con la excusa de que podrá volver después a ellos. Aquí se abre la veda de preguntarse si el Doctor está en una huida eterna, de si trata con condescencia los problemas mundanos de sus acompañantes, de si los trata como a amigos o como a mascotas que recoger y cuidar un tiempo... Es decir, ¿sabe el propio Doctor por qué lleva acompañantes en sus viajes? No digo que suscriba todo lo que se dice o se insinúa a este respecto en el cómic, pero me parece un tema muy interesante sobre el que pensar.
Es un cómic que recomiendo totalmente: es ameno, es divertido y, como siempre, nos da una perspectiva única de las cosas. Adoro la manera que tiene de darle una vuelta de rosca a la historia. Por ejemplo:
¿Sabes el primer concierto de los Beatles en el Cavern Club en 1961? El 96% del público eran viajeros del tiempo. De hecho, Lennon también lo era, pero eso es otra historia.
Así que whovians, corred a haceros con él. No diré más, excepto ¡Gerónimo!

Der elfte Doctor ist definitiv mein Doctor. Seine Abenteuer begeistern mich einfach am meisten. In diesem Band nimmt er die Bibliothekar-Assistentin Alice mit auf seine Reisen und zeigt ihr, dass alles nicht nur grau und trostlos ist. Den Standartsatz über die TARDIS ändert Alice ebenso ab wie es einst Clara tat und überrascht so den Doctor gleich zu Beginn. Ich glaube ich hab zu oft Doctor geschrieben xD
"Seien sie nicht so kryptisch... Ich bin kryptisch. Kryptisch ist mein Ding, das können sie nicht haben".Er versucht sie aufzumuntern und zeigt ihr sogar den Swimming Pool in der TARDIS. So toll! Sehr überrascht hat es mich dann allerdings doch, dass in der ersten Geschichte dieses Mal der Doctor von seinen Begleitern gerettet wurde. Faszinierend.
"No Woman, No Cry habe ich mal einem Cyberman als Endlosschleife programmiert."Der Charakter des elften Doctors ist einfach perfekt getroffen. Es sind die kleinen Dinge, die er sagt und tut, die seine Persönlichkeit ausmachen. Dass sie unbemerkt noch jemanden in der TARDIS mitnehmen, passt da genau. Mein Doctor Who Hirn musste jedenfalls direkt ein "Oh and I met a horse." ausspucken. Auch Eleven hat was von Ten ;)
"...eventuell wurde er von Killerrobotern überrannt, aber wichtig ist, dass man sich mal entspannt." - Doctor Logik! <3Aber bevor ich in weiteren 245859648645 Sätzen fangirle wie toll der Doctor doch ist, möchte ich nochmal anmerken, dass Alice meiner Meinung nach der Star dieses Comics ist. Sie sieht sofort, dass der Doctor im Grunde genommen nur vor seinen Problemen wegrennt und sie das nicht ewig tun kann und will. Der Doctor wiederum lehrt sie, dass es keinen Grund gibt das nicht doch eine Weile zu tun. Es ist ein Gleichgewicht, beide Charaktere lernen voneinander. Ein toller Comic!
"Ich glaube, wir sind da. Die Monitore spinnen... wir sind wahrscheinlich definitiv da"... man muss den Doctor einfach lieben!

The first 2 issues of this volume were fantastic see reviews for #1 and #2.
The companion feels different and interesting (extra points for being a library assistant) and the stories can stand on their own. Then there's the 3rd issue were things take a turn. We get a new companion who is basically David Bowie, well at least he will be some day. Considering Bowie is one of my favorite people I should have loved this, and I did love the various Bowie references, but overall...
It just didn't work for me. I felt like it took some of the focus off of Alice.
The last two issues were a two part-er that brought the story arc together, it was nothing special and felt like other DW stories I've read, nothing memorable.
5 Stars for issues 1&2, 2 Mehs for the rest of the volume. I'll split the difference.

I'm in love with these Doctor Who Titan comic series. Good artwork, dialogue that captures the essence of Matt Smith's Doctor and really exciting, fun adventures. My only gripe would be how uninterested the companion, Alice Obiefune seems to be with all the time and space travel and how persistent she is with going home to meet with her landlord when the Doctor is so willing to show her all the universe has to offer. Great fun, nonetheless, and I can't wait for more issues to be released.

So, SO viel besser als der andere DW-Comic, den ich lesen musste. Dieses Mal haben sie den Doctor wirklich getroffen. Trotzdem sind die tollen Bilder an mir eigentlich verschwendet, ich habe viel mehr auf den Text geachtet.

First time reading a Doctor Who book, and I went in to it loving Al Ewing but not-so-loving the 11th Doctor, Matt Smith. Ewing makes this Doctor's pedantic smugness into an obvious character flaw and introduces a new companion that made me laugh and smile (be she and I are both *library assistants*, not librarians).
I love the way the Doctor intervenes in cliché human vs. alien enmities. Definitely looking forward to reading the rest of this run.

The eleventh Doctor has dropped off Amy and Rory Pond and finds himself chasing something like a giant, rainbow space dog through the streets of London. In the process, he meets Alice Obiefune who has just lost her mother and her job and is about to lose her flat. As she travels with the doctor, she calls him out about some of his comments and forces him to admit some things about himself. In the process, Alice comes to understand some things as well. This is a nice story about communication and the meaning of friendship. I really like the artwork, particularly the cover art for each chapter. This was a very enjoyable read for me

The artwork was really good and the story compelling enough to draw me in and make me read volumes 1 and 2 back to back, non-stop and into the wee hours of the morning.

Bow ties are cool..... I had to pick this up and give it a read because sometimes I miss the eleventh doctor. This was a fun quick read, not to terribly exciting but also not bad either. The art work is not the best, I mean in Doctor Who's universe they could have done some truly amazing things, you know it could have been crazy and out of this world instead it just seems a little simple.

Capitolo 1: Nuova Vita. In questo capitolo facciamo la conoscenza d’Alice Obiefune, la compagna del dottore nei fumetti, Dopo Amy (Nel lasso temporale dove dopo la luna di miele, coniugi Pond iniziano a sperimentare la loro vita coniugale e il Dottore deve verificare la struttura della realtà 2.0) e prima di Clara. Me piaciuto molto il fatto del colore scuro e grigio nei momenti tristi e colori sgargianti quando Alice incontra la stranezza e il Dottore. Nell’universo del Dottore, quando qualcuno cerca un modo per stravolgere la sua vita, e con tanta fortuna, ecco che incontrano il Dottore. In questo capitolo vediamo la famosa piscina all’interno del Tardis con animali senza casa, già nel volume numero 0 abbiamo visto il bagno, il guardaroba e la sala dove c’è la lavatrice, mi piacerebbe vedere altre aree del Tardis. Il cane arcobaleno sembra un’opera d’arte, Con questi colori sgargianti e caldi che ti sono subito evidente, vediamo che il Dottore intravede un signore del tempo dell’alto concilio, cosa che vediamo in alcuni dei prossimi capitoli. Chi sara? Il cane arcobaleno che si nutre dell’infelicità delle persone, è un’antitesi e poi è spiegato dal Dottore che di soliti esseri cosi si nutrono solo dell’infelicità del loro padrone ma, avendo perso il padrone e arrivato sulla terra stava per fare un’indigestione. Capitolo 2: Un posto amichevole Il Dottore e Alice si trovano sul pianeta Rokhandi e il Dottore è furente siccome ha sbagliato tempo d’atterraggio e invece di una natura incontaminata trova un lunapark con molti turisti. Il discorso del Dottore sull’industria e chi la sviluppa è molto degenerante ed è la cosa che sta cambiando l’ecosistema della nostra terra. Il guadagno sopra ad ogni cosa. Alice invece è molto entusiasta per il primo viaggio tra le stelle e però la cosa che gli fa strano e che il Dottore gli fa notare è che nel Lunapark tutta la gente è felice e nessuna protesta o vandalizza quel posto è chi lo fa, scompare e riappare come nuovo inserviente del parco con la differenza che in lui non c’è alcuna traccia di sentimenti negativi. Alice e Il Dottore devono scoprire il mistero; nel secondo capitolo l’interazione tra il Dottore e Alice inizia a prendere piede rispetto al primo capitolo con battute tra i due. Il mostro è una sorta essere che sembra zucchero filato, si nutre delle ambizioni delle persone cosiddette “piantagrane” facendo una semplice domanda: Qual è la tua ambizione? Installando nella mente della vittima una sorta d’illusione in cui l’ambizione è realizzata che rende le vittime docili e accondiscendenti verso chi non conosce. Scopriamo inoltre che c’è un uomo, il capo della sicurezza, che conosce già il Dottore e Alice ma che loro non conoscono ancora. Qui vediamo un’altra caratteristica del Dottore, il creare paradossi e nuove linee temporali anche se lui non lo vorrebbe. Questo secondo capitolo mi è piaciuto nell’epilogo che è un finale che ti fa capire l’enorme intelligenza che il Dottore ha. ( è fortuna? Io credo di No.) Capitolo 3: Quel che lui vuole… Ecco che ci viene presentato il secondo compagno che viaggerà con il Dottore e Alice: John Jones. Un cantante con una peculiarità, è chiamato “il camaleonte” e sembra che nemmeno sia stato percepito da Dottore, né dal Tardis e il cacciavite sonico non riesce a scansionare le sue cellule, famosissimo nel 2014 ed esordiente nel 1962 e qui torniamo ai paradossi temporali per, il fatto che il John Jones che hanno visto e portato nel Tardis il Dottore e Alice non è lo stesso che ha visto la madre d’Alice. Difatti lui li segue perché vuole le scuse da parte dei due per i loro apprezzamenti dispregiativi nei confronti della sua musica. Qui rivediamo il signore del tempo sottoforma di desiderio del Dottore, che è stato innescato da un signore anziano che ha controllato delle persone che ascoltavano Jazz in un capanno, con un biglietto dorato con scritto “SERVEYOUinc”. Il Dottore, prima di essere Catturato e condotto in Trance riesce a liberare una delle vittime, quella vittima è Robert Johnson, Alice aveva dei trentatre giri nella casa di sua madre morta all’inizio del primo capitolo. Robert arriva al Tardis con il cacciavite del Dottore, e ora sta a lei capire come fare per salvare il Dottore e le persone in trance. (mi spiegate dove lo prende un monster truck, Alice nella scena iniziale nel 1932? mistero) La cosa che è evidente è la somiglianza tra lo John Jones della copertina del trentatre giri e David Bowie che sono in una tavola dove Alice lo tiene in mano. Alice in questo capitolo è stata molto intelligente e il Tardis a fatto, il resto. Per quanto riguarda il disegno devo dire che Simon Fraser è un discreto disegnatore con questi disegni molto strutturati con linee morbide. Capitolo 4: Chi è stato? Ecco il terzo e ultimo compagno dell’undicesimo Dottore: Arc, “un centro di ragionamento Autonomo” un essere che vuole conoscere il mondo ma ingabbiato e “studiato” dagli scienziati della “SERVEYOUinc” che torna prepotentemente in scena insieme con quello che nel capitolo 2 era il capo della sicurezza, ora conosciamo il suo nome: August Hart. Il disegno, in questo capitolo gioca un ruolo importante per le espressioni dei personaggi, il disegnatore ha utilizzato uno stile molto sporco e stilizzato non lasciando spazio alla morbidezza che da solo al personaggio d’Arc. Alice inizia a scontrarsi con il dottore, cosa che ogni Compagnia che si rispetti fa. Le divergenze nascono dal fatto che il Dottore scappi dalle situazioni spinose, cosa che Alice non vuole fare. Il Dottore si circonda di persone per non restare solo e per far vedere l’universo a tutti quelli che viaggiano nel tardis, ma a volte parla in modo che sembri uno scherno più che un “ io voglio lasciarvi in un mondo dove voi sarete persone migliori di come vi ho incontrato, usate ciò che vi ho insegnato e che avete imparato con me per migliorare la vostra vita se un giorno lascerete il Tardis. (almeno a parer mio). La tavola migliore è la scena in cui il Dottore dice a Hart di non sparare perché la creatura non è cattiva. Il fatto che il Dottore sia contro lo sviluppo scientifico a danno di forme di vita che siano aliene o meno, si era già scoperto nella seconda stagione con il decimo Dottore e in molte altre occasioni. La cosa che mi fa storcere un po’ il naso, è che il Dottore dice di non sapere combattere, la cosa non è vera. Il Terzo Dottore sapeva il Karate venusiano e la stessa arte marziale è stata usata dal dodicesimo Dottore nel libro “ la cella sanguinaria. Questa e stata la mia storia preferita. Insomma questo primo volume sull'undicesimo è stato molto interessante, una spanna sotto il primo albo del Decimo Dottore. Speriamo vivamente continuino le saghe e arrivi anche il nono dottore; è stato annunciato per data indefinita uno speciale albo che tutti i dottori dell’era contemporanea, con la comparsa compianto War Doctor. Il mio voto per le storie presentate è 7,5 mentre per i disegno 9 ci sta tutto.

AFTER LIFE: 35/50
We immediately meet Alice Obiefune, the new companion, and relate to her grey and tragic life. However, given that Al Ewing, known for his work on Immortal Hulk, excels in characterization and emotional storytelling, it's unsurprising that he successfully engages us.
I'm not a huge fan of Simon Fraser's art style. His Eleven looks like an old dude, and the overall style feels childish.
I enjoy the classic storyline where the new companion encounters the Doctor during an adventure, bids him farewell, and later reunites with him. The modern series frequently incorporates this classic storyline. In this case, it happens surprisingly quickly.
So, they do a nice twist on the "bigger on the inside" gag.
I appreciate how Eleven's comic adventures begin in a candid manner, and how he must confront a person who is grieving. Alice is relatable, grounded, yet sharp.
The colourful dog feeds on negative emotions, and I immediately think of the Psychovores introduced in Revolutions of Terror.
This weird little story includes a bonkers British prime minister and a giant baby squid. Why? I have no idea!

A FUN PLACE: 27/50
The Friendly Place takes the Doctor and Alice to an amusement park on an alien planet. He's sulking because they've arrived too late to see the paradise the planet used to be, but Alice is enjoying herself.
Eleven is well characterised here, showing how he goes from serious to childish and back again in a blink.
The big mystery here is how everyone seems to be nice and act calm, even the children, which the Doctor finds suspicious. What's up with these comic stories and their preoccupation with emotions?
We meet the various park employees, who are all cheerful to the point of being eerie.
It is strange to see Alice holding the enemies at gunpoint in two subsequent stories. This truly shows that she is a no-nonsense character.
This is another very brief story, so there's a lot of expository dialogue before the story quickly tightens the tension and reaches a quick climax.
It makes perfect sense for the alien monster to act inside a theme park, where employees constantly bribe the guests with various free stuff they don't need or want in exchange for removing their bad moods.
There's an epilogue here that teases the return of the Entity further along the line.

WHAT HE WANTS…: 38/50
This story takes us to Mississippi in the 1930s, the era of blues musicians making deals with the devils (as in the Supernatural episode).
Rob Williams assumes the writing responsibilities for this one, plunging us directly into the adventure, where a truck-driving Alice steps in to rescue a seemingly possessed Doctor. Williams then transports us back in time to witness the build-up leading up to this event.
Alice has the opportunity to choose the setting once more and expresses a desire to meet her mother's former idol, who ultimately proves to be far from the legendary figure she once knew. There are some Devil's Chord vibes in this one.
Bessie is back in an evolved form! It's a fun nod to the 1970s, but not exactly a huge plot point.
I like the Doctor's dialogue here; it feels spot-on for Eleven.
We eventually work our way back to the beginning of the comic and begin piecing together why no one notices John Jones and where the yellow-eyed zombies come from.
So there's a creepy organisation here (SERVEYOUinc) that has been following the Doctor for some time, led by a creepy dude.
We yet again see Alice being resourceful as she figures out how to use the sonic and the TARDIS to help the Doctor.
The resolution is once again very quick and simple (and again feels a bit like The Devil's Chord). It also leaves the nature of the baddies shrouded in mystery.

WHODUNIT: 34/50
Al Ewing returns to write, and the Doctor takes Alice to her first space station to hopefully solve the mystery of the puzzling SERVEYOUinc organisation.
This feels like one of those Classic Who serials set in a space station, led by a useless base leader, where the crew members die one by one, killed by an unknown alien assailant.
I appreciate how this story takes time to discuss the nature of travelling with the Doctor and being his companion, as Alice wants to return home to catch up on her life.
The art style here is quite traditional and cosy. I like it.
This story feels longer than previous chapters because it gives everything more room to breathe.
Alice gets some deeper character development while the Doctor goes off investigating the murders. However, the majority of this is characterised by a gradual build-up, with minimal noteworthy events occurring.
I find Jones very annoying, and I don't understand why he had to carry over from What He Wants to this story. It's not like Alice couldn't keep being the sole companion.
What a great cliffhanger reveal!

The second part of the SERVEYOUinc story runs like the final third of a classic base under siege serial. The action is intense as the Doctor and his friends strive to stop the alien from eradicating them all.
The security chief, August Hart, makes for a very traditional Doctor Who villain but is effective enough.
The Doctor takes good command here, like Eleven did in most of his stories, while his companions fend for themselves.
ARC is a fascinating alien, but it's important to remember that it's not truly evil but rather a victim of torture and misinterpretation. I also like how it simply wants to learn and does so by listening to speech after the Doctor shows understanding towards it.
This feels weirdly fast-paced, and there's no real sense of danger before everything is quickly wrapped up.
Seeing ARC become a new companion at the end is definitely interesting. I hope they use it in interesting ways.

The best part of "After Life" is the great new companions that it introduces for Eleven. Alice is terrific, but also a pretty standard NuWho companion introduced in a pretty standard way. But also getting a young David Bowie to join the crew. And maybe an artificial intelligence too? That's all kinds of cool (and the type of multiperson crew that I really love). Oh, and Ewing and Williams do a great job of capturing Eleven's voice.
The structure of the stories, with the sting, the credits, and the main story is quite nice. It gives the stories a little burst of excitement a few pages in, and helps to keep things singing. Ewing and Williams use it well.
And finally, getting to the stories themselves ... they're totally OK. The plots are good enough,the timey-wimeyness is fun, but there's nothing spectacular.
But you put that all together, and you have a nice comic.
The structure of the stories, with the sting, the credits, and the main story is quite nice. It gives the stories a little burst of excitement a few pages in, and helps to keep things singing. Ewing and Williams use it well.
And finally, getting to the stories themselves ... they're totally OK. The plots are good enough,the timey-wimeyness is fun, but there's nothing spectacular.
But you put that all together, and you have a nice comic.

So this was the first Doctor Who comic I've ever read, I read it few weeks ago when I realized that there won't be any Doctor Who until Christmas, and honestly, I quite like it, the companions are awesome (especially John Jones, and Alice reminds me a bit of Donna, which is good), and I really think that the writers got Eleventh's character quite right, the only complaint I have is probably concerning the artwork, I don't know, maybe it's just because I haven't read a comic in years.

Fantastic job keeping Eleven believable and in-character. The stories feel like they've escaped from missing episode scripts and the Doctor's new companion doesn't feel like a repeat of any of his counterparts from the show. She has some of Donna's spunk, which I love.

Uzun zamandır okumadığım çizgi roman okumalarıma an itibariyle geri dönmüş bulunuyorum. Pandemi zamanları çok çok sevdiğim dizi olan Doctor Who'nun Titan Comics ile yaptığı iş birliğinden çıkan serileri okumaya başlamıştım. Önce en sevdiğim Doktor olan 10. Doktoru, daha sonra da 9.Doktoru okumuştum. Daha okunacak yüzlerce çizgi roman varken ben de artık bir yerden 11. Doktor'un maceralarına da başlayayım diye düşünüp adımımı attım. Toplamda dokuz ciltten oluşan 11. Doktor'un maceralarının ilk cildine başladım böylelikle.
5 sayıdan oluşan bu ilk ciltte toplam 4 adet hikaye var. Doktor, Amy ve Rory evlendikten sonra bir süre yanlarına uğramamış oluyor bu çiftin. Bu çizgi roman da tahminimce o aralıkta geçiyor olacak. İlk sayı ve ilk hikayede Alice adında annesini yeni kaybetmiş ve bir sürü sorunla tek başına baş etmeye çalışan, kütüphane görevlisi orta yaşlı bir kadının bir gün yolda yürürken uzaylı bir dev köpekle karşılaşması ve böylelikle Doktor ile yollarının kesişmesini anlatıyor. Hüzünden ve mutsuzluktan beslenen bu uzaylı köpekle uğraşan bu ikili bir macerada buluyor kendini ve tahmin edileceği gibi Alice yeni yol arkadaşımız oluyor. İkinci hikaye ve ikinci sayıda ise Doktor, Alice'i mutlu etmek için Rokhandi adı verilen eğlencelerle dolu bir gezegene götürüyor. Dev bir lunaparkın içinde eğlenen ikili bir şeylerin ters gittiğini fark ediyor ve meraklı Doktor bunu araştırırken insanları manipüle edip onları adeta toksik pozitif robotlara çeviren mekanizma ile tanışıyor. SERVEYOU adı verilen bu şirketin ilk kırıntıları burda atılmış oluyor. Üçüncü hikaye ve üçüncü sayı aslında farklı bir konuyu alsa da bu şirketin kırıntıları burada da çıkıyor. Eskilere gidip orda John Jones adı verilen müzisyen ile tanışan bu ikili bu dönemlerde de bu şirketten çalışan ve insanları manipüle eden şeyleri görüyor. Dördüncü ve beşinci sayılarda ise cildin dördüncü ve son hikayesi anlatılıyor. Tardis'e gizli gizli giren Jones da artık yol arkadaşı. Bu şirketin içine doğru sızıp ne olup olmadığını araştıran ekip dördüncü sayıda manipüle edilen insanları görürken beşinci sayıda da bunları kurtarma peşine düşüyor. Burada Arc adı verilen, bu şirketin yarattığı Otomasyon ile tanışıyoruz ayrıca. Sorunlar çözülüyor gibi duruyor ve cildimiz bu şekilde bitiyor.

İkinci hikaye, üç ve dördüncü hikayeler her ne kadar birbirleriyle bağlantılı olsalar da aynı konu üzerinden ilerliyor olmaları güzeldi, ki bunu daha önceki Doktor sayılarında da yapmışlardı. Fakat konuyu güzel işleyemediklerini düşünüyorum. Beni çok içine çekemedi çoğu yerde. Jones, yol arkadaşı olarak güzel değildi. Alice ise çok çabuk entegre oldu, zor şeyler yaşayan bir insanın bu tarz şeye çok da kolay alışmaması gerek. Hikayeyi çok iyi bulmadım açıkçası. Bunun dışında çizimler her zamankinden çok da farklı olmasa da incelemesi keyifli bir şekildeydi. Özlediğimi fark ettim bu evreni. Zaten çok da uzak kalamıyorsunuz, Doctor Who bizim gibiler için bir sevda. O yüzden ilk cildin günahı olmaz hesabıyla sevmediğim yönleri sevdiklerimden fazla olsa da ortalama bir puanla kapatabiliriz belki bu cildi. Umarım diğer ciltlerde çok daha iyi hikaye anlatımları olur da okuması daha keyif verir diyelim.

"Doctor Who, Undécimo Doctor: Vida Tras la Muerte" primer tomo publicado por Fandogamia que nos trae las aventuras de ciencia ficción del viajero de la Tardis.
En esta historia encontramos al Doctor viajando solo ya que acaba de dejar a sus compañeros Amy y Rory Pond disfrutando de su nueva etapa como recién casados después de una fantástica luna de miel.
La vida de Alice es gris después de la pérdida de su madre, se ha sumido en la tristeza casi sin darse cuenta y el resto de asuntos no es que le funcionen muy bien. Pero la luz y el color vuelven en forma de perro alienígena que, como no, viene acompañado de nuestro querido Doctor.
Después de este primer choque, algo convence a Alice para viajar con el Doctor, ¿quien se resistiría a descubrir las maravillas del tiempo y el espacio? De la trama en sí no os voy a contar más, solo que tendremos muchas aventuras, muchas locuras temporales, saltos espaciales y giros al puro estilo Doctor Who.
Este primer tomo es apto para quienes no conozcan el universo de Doctor Who pero les guste la ciencia ficción y los viajes en el tiempo. Explica cosas características del Doctor que los fans de la serie ya conocemos, como quien es(a grandes rasgos claro), sus herramientas habituales, sus métodos para resolver conflictos espaciales y, por supuesto, la Tardis. Me ha encantado ver diferentes partes de mi querida Tardis, la piscina por fin!!
También plasma a la perfección la personalidad de Úndecimo, uno de los Doctores más luminosos, alegres y hasta un poco idos de pinza. He detectado sus coletillas y esas formas de interpretar las situaciones y personas que se va encontrando. En su forma de hablar con su companion temporal recuerda a como habló con Amelia Pond. Sus guiños, sus pequeñas bromas y ese humor que le caracteriza lo hacen totalmente identificable.
En cuanto a Alice, ella es una de sus compañeras más críticas. Es bastante dura pero eso ayuda a que él también aprenda de ella. No podemos olvidar que el Doctor siempre va a necesitar un acompañante que compense su lado todopoderoso de Señor del Tiempo(su raza como alien).
En cuanto al dibujo, creo que plasma a la perfección la velocidad y el ritmo trepidante que se vive en la serie de Doctor Who. Las expresiones se acentúan cuando la tensión del momento así lo requiere. La tardis está preciosa dibujada como si tuviera carácter propio, el azul que tiene te transmite esa sensación de magia, de que todo es posible, que tanto significa para mí.
En definitiva, "Doctor Who, Undécimo Doctor: Vida Tras la Muerte" es un tomo necesario para fans de la serie Doctor Who y muy recomendable para amantes de la ciencia ficción y las aventuras.

Premier (et seul) comics que j'ai qui concerne le Onzième Docteur. J'en ai surtout avec le Dixième, donc ça a été un plaisir de découvrir d'autres aventures de ce Docteur.
Comme pour les autres comics, il s'agit ici d'une aventure inédite et qui ne se trouve pas dans la série. On découvre donc de nouveaux personnages, comme Alice, qui accompagne le Docteur le temps de ce comics. Mais aussi de nouvelles planètes et de nouveaux ennemis.
Dès le début, j'ai été touchée par Alice. Je me suis reconnue dans la situation qu'elle vivait, où les mauvaises nouvelles ne font que s'enchaîner et où, le moral finit petit à petit par sombrer. J'ai aussi beaucoup aimé son caractère, car elle tient tête au Docteur et n'hésite pas à le remettre à sa place. Surtout quand il se trompe sur l'intitulé de son emploi.
J'ai eu beaucoup de mal avec le récit en lui-même. Je ne sais absolument pas où on allait et qui était le véritable ennemi dans toute cette histoire. Même en ayant pris un peu de recul, j'ai encore du mal à comprendre certaines choses.
Ça reste tout de même bien, l'ambiance de la série est assez bien respectée. J'ai juste eu du mal avec certains styles d'illustrations.
Le petit plus: un petit résumé du Docteur se trouve au début. Il nous donne quelques infos comme qui il est, ce qu'est son T.A.R.D.I.S et à quoi sert son tournevis sonic. Mais il nous donne aussi un indicateur temporel au niveau de la série. Ça permet de remettre un peu dans le contexte !
Et on a aussi droit à un galerie des couvertures en fin de livre. J'aime beaucoup ce genre de contenu car ça permet de découvrir les couvertures des comics, et de voir ce qui a pu être fait.

✨ "Vida tras la muerte" es la primera entrega del undécimo Doctor, así que nos reencontramos con él en los cómics, le acompañaremos en el momento de descubrir a su nueva acompañante y la iremos conociendo con él.
✨ Cómo viene siendo habitual en el formato papel, dentro de este tomo encontraremos varias historias cortas unidas por un hilo conductor. En este caso, el nexo que da continuidad a las distintas aventuras es la misteriosa empresa Teservimossa.
✨ De la forma en que ya estamos acostumbrados, viajaremos por diversos planetas deshaciendo entuertos, descubriremos nuevas criaturas, y aún quedará tiempo para la crítica social.
✨ Me ha encantado la aparición de algunos personajes que son un guiño a artistas reales.
✨ Y con esto, solo nos queda seguir averiguando cosas sobre Teservimossa en el siguiente tomo!
