Loving You #2

All I Need Is You

Rate this book
Hailed by Jennifer Probst as a “sexy, heartfelt story,” this sweet military romance reunites a headstrong dancer and a rugged army soldier after one steamy encounter tears them apart.

As a dancer who creates mesmerizing visions onstage, Neve James is looking for the same kind of stability in her love life. Her pen pal, Rory McRoy, is on leave from deployment in Afghanistan, so she heads to Boston to surprise him. After corresponding for months as part of a “Support Our Troops” initiative—and exchanging dozens of “Read When You’re Alone” letters—Neve knows what Rory likes, and she intends to fulfill his every fantasy. But all they get are a few blissful moments together before they’re interrupted by a woman claiming to be Rory’s fiancée.

Rory has fallen hard for Neve’s letters. When he finally meets her in person, he has to have her, right then and there—until Neve takes off in a fit of anger. Forced to return to Afghanistan before he can fix things between them, Rory waits four agonizing months to prove that he’s not the man Neve thinks he is. But by the time he arrives in New York, she’s already made up her mind. Luckily, Rory never backs down from a challenge, and he’s prepared to put everything on the line for love.

All I need Is You is the first book I have read by Wendy S. Marcus, and the second book in the Loving You series. It was a quick, easy read, and grabbed me at the start with the letters between Neve and Rory being the introduction to the story, but it wasn’t without its issues, and for me they detracted a bit from my overall enjoyment.

I liked Rory, back from a year serving in Afghanistan, he has returned with more than a few bad memories, and I liked the way he tried to work through the PTSD without involving Neve. And although I loved the way Neve helped Rory with his demons, and the bond that formed between them due to the mutual care taking, I really struggled to find much else about her that I liked for the rest of the book.

I have no issue with the fact that prior to Rory entering her life, she was happy to go out and take exactly what she wanted from a man, and then leave in the morning with no regrets, but the authors portrayal of this and the recurring incidences of her past ‘one and dones’ continually popping up just went a little too far for me. Her internal monologue and reactions to things at points just had me thinking ’bitch’ and added to her overall up and down mood swings it just got a little tiresome.

There are a lot of secondary characters in this one too, Rory’s family, Nate (Neve’s brother) as well as many more, and to be honest at points everything that was going on felt a little too busy, and erroneous to the actual focus of the story.

This wasn’t a bad book, and I would certainly think about reading more from the author in the future, it just didn’t tick all of my boxes on this occasion. Although book two in the series, I believe it can absolutely be read as a standalone as I didn’t feel I was missing out on anything having not read Loving You Is Easy.

Neve starts writing letters to Rory, a soldier stationed in Afghanistan. Her letters are a little naughty and a little getting-to-know-you. Neve's letters help get Rory through his tour in Afghanistan and when he comes home for a ten day leave, Neve shows up to help him fulfill one of his fantasies he mentioned in his letter. After a misunderstanding that has Neve running away, Rory knows one night wasn't enough with her and wants to spend more time with his pen pal.

This story was a lot more complex than I was expecting. From the description, I thought this was going to be a light and fun story but it wasn't. Rory and Neve both have complex issues they're dealing with. I was really frustrated with Neve at times and didn't understand why she made some of the decisions she did. Rory was awesome - he was really funny and sweet. I loved the letters between the two of them and how they got to know each other before seeing each other. My only problems with this book is that there was so much going on with these characters, it was overwhelming at times. Also, I didn't like the way her past played out Overall, I really did enjoy this book, it dealt with some hard issues but it was also a really sweet romance. Looking forward to reading more by this author.

Neve James and Rory Mc Roy meet under unusual circumstances. You see Neve decided that since it was soon to be winter and in New York that’s cold and she had no boyfriend or dates on the horizon that she would write to a serviceman. She made it perfectly clear during the first letter she was unattached and wanted to know if he was because if he chose to get sexually explicit letters for a thrill and to keep boredom away she wanted to know if he was attached. She told him because if she had a boyfriend serving she wouldn’t want him to have a sexual pen pal.
Rory assured her he was not seeing anyone. That he was very honest in this regard. Because he would never want to hurt any woman like that. After several months of writing one another Neve finds out he will be coming home to Boston on leave. He is so excited in every way but sexually especially. He takes her into the storage room for some sexy R&R.
When they are interrupted by a misguided 18 year old family friend. You see his mother had bought this girl a ring for her 13th birthday just before Rory entered the service. Somehow she thought that it meant that they were engaged. So Neve was beyond angry and wouldn’t listen and this crazy girl wouldn’t shut-up. He was losing ground. So, as she was trying to leave grabbed onto her arm and she said to let go. He said he didn’t want to if it meant she wouldn’t listen to him about what was going on. Crazy girl says, “Let her go you got me. Neve says, “Yeah you got her!” Since she didn’t like being told what to do by someone trying to make her do something she didn’t want to do which was stay in the storage room and talk it out. She did what her brother the cop taught her to do. One fast jab to the throat. As he gasped for air she kicked him in the jewels, hard, stepping away as he fell to the ground with a thud.
This hurt Neve right down to her marrow. It had It had happened again. She thought for sure Rory was the one. The good guy. She told him things she didn’t even tell her best friend. How could her instincts be so off? As she ran to her car with tears running down her cheek she got to her car and got the hell out of Boston.
Before Rory could fix it he was called back from his leave early and was gone 4 months. In all that time Neve would not take his calls, text, emails, or anything at all. All letters were returned unopened. He was beyond himself. He was determined that when he got out he would go straight to her. When he gets to her she collapses in his arms as her brother is right there. They rush her to the hospital…
Can they mend this relationship? Can Rory get Neve to believe him? Does she think Rory only wanted to use her and marry the good girl? Although I enjoyed the moments of emotional drama of which there were several. It was the times in between that seemed to lag. Rory at times seemed whipped to me. I could figure out why he was so passive. I give this 4 stars. Provided by netgalley.com. Follow us at:

You don't need to read the first book to understand this one. The main characters from the first book are included, but they play a small supporting role to Neve and Rory.

Neve had bad luck with men. She liked to be a rebel and go along with the bad boys. When she decided to improve her life, she signed up for a military pen pal.

Rory was the lucky soldier in Afghanistan that got chosen for Neve. At first the letters were fun and sexy. Later the communication became more intimate and meaningful. Their correspondence not only comforted each other but also healed each other.

Because of a misunderstanding, Neve thought Rory was engaged. This misunderstanding happens pretty early in the book. So the majority of the story is about Rory trying to win her back. Rory became Neve's rock as she tackled her past, and Neve became Rory's beacon of hope as he was fighting his PTSD.

I want to love the book, but Neve's emotions were like a roller coaster. Too many ups and downs... and over thinking the situation. I loved Rory though! His character was perfect.... strong, loyal, considerate, caring, and loving. And I can't complain about the hot love making.

This is the follow up to Loving You is Easy. It features Neve, a friend of Brooke, and another penpal soldier, Rory.

The book starts not long after the first one finished. We know that something has gone wrong with Neve and Rory's penpal romance. Rory came home to visit four months ago and things went belly up but he had to go back on duty before it could be sorted.

Now he's back and determined to fix things with Neve and explain what happened at his family's pub. Only Neve isn't having any. She has big plans to make over her life and Rory, liar and cheat, isn't going to be a part of it. Only trouble is, Neve had a medical problem and needs help and Rory is the only one around to provide what she needs.

This is a sweet romance, despite the fact that the author writes hot smexy. Neve has history and it is impacting on her decisions. Rory has his own baggage. Not least the problems faced by a soldier just back from combat duty. The characters were portrayed realistically and the background friends and family were well painted. Neve and Rory are both relatively young at 24 & 23 which almost puts this in the NA category.

Overall I enjoyed this book. I've been looking forward to it since I met the character in book 1 and I wasn't disappointed. There was one thing I found a little distracting as an Aussi reading it with the portrayal of a regional accent which was so fascinating I got waylaid while reading.

*This ARC provided by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review*

I’m a sucker for military romances simply because I grew up in a military household. I saw the love that held couples together through constant change, forced separations and ever present worry of losing your loved one to war. The circumstances could create a steel bond between the couple or tear them apart. In “All I Need is You” by Wendy S. Marcus she shows phenomenal insight into the military mindset. I loved this book and managed to devour it in a day where I worked both of my jobs – that should tell you how good it is. *wink* It was my first introduction to Wendy S. Marcus and gotta tell you, it was a great one!

The book will be available on October 6th, 2015 but you can pre-order on Amazon! And since it’s the second in a series, why not go ahead and entertain yourself with “Loving You Is Easy” to get you in the mood? I got glimpses of the first couple in this book and I’m ready to dive into their story as well!

****4 Stars****

The book opens with an introduction letter from Neve to Rory, offering to be his new pen pal while he serves overseas. She makes a very steamy offer to write sexy letters to help him – ahem- “pass the time.” Rory responds enthusiastically and offers some “get-to-know-me” information that’s cute and flirty. But then, one year later, we learn that they have had a falling out. Neve is very sick and grumpy (completely with her, being sick sucks) but Rory has shown up uninvited on her doorstep trying to get back in her good graces. She tries to have her big brother kick him out or arrest him but she faints before anything is done.

Turns out Neve has a major infection from donating bone marrow and will need someone to be home with her to help with keeping the PICC (a special IV) clean and infection free. Since her parents are on a cruise and her brother is a cop who works nights, Rory offers to stay and help. He’s not all heart – he’s determined to explain what really happened when Neve surprised him in Boston and win her back.

While Rory fights for Neve’s trust, Neve fights for her health and to be ready for her audition for Cirque du Soleil. For three weeks Rory and Neve live together and learn more than they ever did in their letters. Neve is working on conquering the art of casual conversation and Rory is fighting his PTSD symptoms. When Neve realizes that she can help him (in the hottest way possible) they fall in bed together and learn about each other in a whole new way. But the demons won’t leave them alone and their road is still a hard one to travel.

This book was a good read because of the issues it addressed. PTSD, self image and women’s rights were the heavier topics and I thought Wendy S. Marcus did a fantastic job of adding them to the story. Neve has always been a very sexual person, enjoying her life and body as she wanted. But because of her job and her body men have always thought she was an easy lay and not a person. After so many years of dealing with stupid men and their presumptions she has begun to believe it too. In “All I Need is You” the author shows how hard it can be for a woman to fight off the stigma of “slut” and I applaud her for it.

And PTSD can never be over emphasized for it’s effect on our soldiers. Rory’s is not as dramatic as some books have it but that makes it realistic to me. It’s the little things that can affect a soldier and send him back to those awful war zones. And it’s also the little things like a caring person and loving companionship that can save them from it.

Overall, this book was a fun and hot read. The “read when you’re alone” letters that both Rory and Neve remember steamed up my glasses a few times (as well as the comfort sessions that happened). The dialogue was snappy and hilarious, making me smile and giggle at times. I believe anyone out there who enjoys a hot book along with some true-to-life issues will make a meal out of this one. Have you read “Loving You Is Easy” or anything else by Wendy S. Marcus? What did you think of it? I’d love to hear your opinions!

P.S. No quotes were included as the ARC specifically asked for none since it’s a few months from publishing date and some changes could be made.

ARC REVIEW

All I Need is You is book two of Wendy S. Marcus' Loving You series unfortunately I have not read the first book I must remedy that asap. Another unfortunate accident I had the worst earworm because of the series name; Loving You sung by Minnie Riperton is not my favorite song and it is very easy to get stuck in your head, so curse you for that Wendy S. Marcus! (and also Burger King for having that song back in the late 90's in one of their ad campaigns). Okay on to the book, I love this book! I enjoyed the characters, their conflict and how they reacted to the conflict, and how they dealt with that conflict; and I always love a book where the romance starts with a letter.

Neve James is a talented and beautiful dancer who attracts attention wherever she goes. Rory McCoy is the son of a family so Boston Irish Catholic that they even own a Pub they all live above. Rory joined the military to do his part, he is completely selfless always going out of his way to help people. Neve has always seen herself as completely selfish, acting with only her own good in mind, but you see pretty quickly she is her own worst enemy. Neve gets talked into joining a program to write to a soldier overseas, she gets Rory. The camaraderie between the two is quick and the fact that Neve isn't shy in the least that friendship quickly grows to something more. When Rory is home on leave Neve surprises him with a visit and fulfilling one of his fantasies but quickly gets interrupted by a young woman claiming Rory is her fiance. Neve had one rule when it came to her and Rory's relationship not cheating and when they are interrupted Neve flips out.

A couple months down the road after Rory finally out of the military before he even goes home he finds Neve to explain everything but when he finds her she is sick. She donated bone marrow to her eleven year old half-brother, she in turn for doing a good deed gets a bone marrow infection to top it all off she has an audition for Cirque du Soleil, her dream job. Neve needing help with antibiotics and just someone to make sure she doesn't exert herself Rory volunteers it also gives him the perfect opportunity to explain what happened and that he really doesn't have a fiance and that he truly has feelings for Neve. Rory is also dealing with PTSD and he is finding himself at peace when around her, she is helping him cope. The feelings are there, the intentions are right but Rory and Neve aren't being honest with each other and when Neve's past comes to bite her in the butt Rory reacts wrong and Neve is heartbroken and Rory is thrown back and PTSD rears it's ugly head. Neve thinks that starting over and leaving everything behind is the only way to escape who she was. After reacquainting herself with her birth mother and getting all the facts about her abandonment she sees things differently and being alone starting over she realizes just what she has to do.

Overall, this book has it all. Love, friendship, misunderstandings, reunion, action a bit of suspense, sex in a car, I really really loved everything about this book.

Title: All I Need Is You
Series: (Loving You, #2) But can be read as a standalone.
Author: Wendy S. Marcus
Rating: 4-Stars
Cliffhanger:
HEA:

description

All I Need Is You is a very unique read.

First of all, we have a feisty heroine—Neve—whose trying to redeem herself from a promo squints past... and okay, don't you just hate autocorrect? Here I am, trying to be serious about a book... and instead of 'promiscuous past' it makes me right 'promo squints past'. LOL!

Anyway...

In this book, not only do be have a wild-child heroine, we also have a new type of Hero. Rory isn't your typical, cookie-cutter bad boy alpha—and that made me love him all the more!!

Rory is a short, stocky guy—but he owns his height in a way that makes you question is tall, dark, and handsome, isn't the sexiest after all. His sweet, thoughtful, disposition had butterflies fluttering in my tummy—and then the tad bit of naughtiness in him had me swooning. And his accent... who knew a Boston-er could be so hottt?

So we have our two equally beautiful—but equally broken—main characters, who forge a deep and true connection during a time in their lives when they need it the most: Rory is in Afghanistan, fighting the war's battles, while Neve is in the states, fighting a war within herself.

Becoming pen-pals, they give each other the friendship the other needs desperately... and soon, that friendship turns into sometime so much more than either of them ever imagined.

Rory and Neve's letters to each other were just about my favorite part of this book. Each one had me laughing at their silly jokes, 'aww'ing at their honesty, and smiling at their sexual special 'Read When You're Alone' letters.

But in the end, Rory and Neve's story is so much more than just a love story; All I Need Is You is a story about two people fighting battles, winning wars, changing and finding themselves... and then, eventually, accepting that the not-so-pretty past can be embraced, in order to achieve a wonderful, happy future.

*I was given an ARC of this book from NetGalley. But I do solemnly swear that I am up to... good on Goodreads. ;) This is a fair and honest review of this book. Pinky promise. *

In All I Need Is You, Wendy S. Marcus has once again written an emotional story with likeable characters, who fight for the chance to become the people they want to be and for the love they ultimately want.

Ever since I read the first book in the Loving You Series, Loving You Is Easy, I’ve been patiently waiting on the story of Rory and Neve. I knew going in something was really up between these two. I just had no idea how their story would play out. If you haven’t read Loving You Is Easy, don’t worry. Rory and Neve stand on their own. As I’ve mentioned, All I Need Is You is emotional, but it’s also steamy (without being XXX rated) and for me, it did not disappoint. In fact, it was more than I expected it to be.

Rory McRoy, a twenty-three-year-old Boston Southie is on his final tour of duty in Afghanistan. Six weeks into a year long stent, he becomes pen pals with Neve James. Neve is a twenty-four-year-old gymnastics instructor/adagio performer. Their letters and emails are hot and fantasy filled.

Rory isn't what you usually look for or dream about in a romance book hero, at least not physically. But if you get over yourself and truly look at who he is on the inside (which is what love is all about) he's amazing. Rory is a really good guy who would do anything to protect Neve and make her happy. Make no mistake, I’m a fan of Rory and I have been since I first heard about him. However, for me, All I Need Is You is all about Neve.

Neve was very surprising, to say the least. I knew she was a “fun” girl. I just didn't realize how much she liked to party or the reasons behind her destructive ways. And when I say destructive, that’s probably an understatement.

Sometimes you have to lose it all to rediscover who you are. Rory and Neve fell for each other through letters and online communication. When things for these two go south, it's the back to basics approach that reconnects them. While this is a happy ever after story, it does contain a situation that has the potential to turn dark. Wendy handled the situation perfectly, to show the person Neve use to be, versus the person she’s trying to become.

There are a couple of secondary characters in this book that I’m hoping to have stories written about. Thus, I have my fingers crossed.

All I Need Is You is the kind of book that simply makes you feel warm all over. A joy to read and a pleasure from start to finish.

This touching love story between Neve and Rory had so much more than just romance. Getting to know each other through letters while Rory was serving in Afghanistan, each became the other's sounding board. Neve as a dancer was finally realizing her dream: a tryout with Cirque du Soleil. She craved a new start and was hopeful that she would traveling the world with the famed dance troupe.

Rory back home in the States for good, picks up with his pen pal after a most unfortunate tryst while he was on leave, and these two together set off some serious fireworks!

What I loved first and foremost was that Neve was her own girl. We always look for that sassy bestie to keep us on our toes in a book. However, it's Neve who is the sassy one and for most of this story, Rory is the one kept on his toes. And he loves it.

Their witty banter, their passionate scenes and the tender moments shared between Rory and Neve make for the perfect story. His PTSD, her fear of staying the party girl forever and their constant struggle not to ruin what might be happening between them, are all great components to make this book feel so real. It wasn't just about their love, but about them accepting themselves for who they were and wanted to be and how to go about sharing that with each other.

The absolute best thing though? The fact that Wendy Marcus has given us a spectacular man in Rory who is only 5 foot 4!!! Oh how I have wanted a story about a vertically-challenged man. Proving you don't have to be over 6 feet to get the girl. I can't thank her enough for that. It's about damn time.

Overall a very satisfying read. One that made me smile, made me laugh and made me swoon. How much better can you get than that?

A solid 4 stars!!

Couldn’t put this one down from start to finish! From page one Ms. Marcus kept me intrigued in this beautiful romance that was just fitting for two strong and independent characters. My favorite, though, just had to be Rory McRoy. He was just such a sweetheart of a guy! There’s nothing that he wouldn’t do to protect and support his woman. And, Neve James has all that and more when it comes to her relationship with Rory. Yes, there were some pretty heavy misunderstandings between the two, but as they work them all out, just what exactly is their connection? What does a relationship with Rory really mean to Neve? And, is she in it for the long haul? In other words, can she trust him?

This starts off as a pen pal exchange of letters as Rory is overseas on military assignment. Their friendship develops into something more as the two correspond and then finally meet. But, when Rory is caught in what seems to be a lie while Neve jumps to the wrong conclusions, their relationship suffers until Rory helps Neve see the good in him and learns to trust him again. Ahhh, the romance, which is sweet and sensual. The drama, which is conflicting and emotional. The suspense, which brings truth and understanding when everything is now out in the open. It’s a story that is tenderly touching when dealing with sad but yet truly genuine concerns. The dancer and the soldier – two people wanting to find that everlasting love that they can trust in. Who’s to say that they didn’t find it in each other? This one is worth taking a chance on!!! Ms. Marcus again writes romance at its finest...

This is the second book by Wendy S. Marcus that I’ve read. The first one, Loving You Is Easy, was a great book (I named it as my runner-up choice for my Best Reads of 2014), and this one was almost as good! I’ve never had much of a feeling one way or the other about military romances. I’d read some decent ones, but I wouldn’t say that I LOVED military romances. Now, though … Well, I might have to say that I’m an actual bona fide fan of them! Read on to find out exactly what I mean...

An emotional, sexy read between two pen pals. Neve, a dancer starts writing letters to Rory, while he is stationed in Afghanistan. The letters are sexy but also a get to know you. Loved it!! On leave to the states Neve shows up to fulfill one of his fantasies, they end up with a misunderstanding and Neve leaves. Rory realizes that Neve is for him and he will do anything to prove his love.

This is a well written book of two flawed characters of finding love. Neve has a lot to go through with her past and her health. Marcus did a wonderful job on the medical aspects. Rory, is so sweet but also has family to deal with along with his PTSD.

I highly recommend this book. This is the second book in Loving You, but a completely stand alone read. I received this book through Netgalley for an honest review.

I had a hard time with this one. I didn't really like Neve when I probably should have. There was just something about her often self-destructive ways that rubbed me the wrong way. Even in her letters to Rory, I had to wonder what she said (that we didn't) see that drew him to her, other than she was hot and guys want her.

all i need is you bloop

All I Need Is You, is the second book in the Loving You series by Wendy S. Marcus. It can most certainly be read as a standalone book and (thankfully) had no cliffhanger. For the most part, I really liked this book but there were a few things that set me off about it. (Skip toward the bottom for those, mind you they are also slightly spoilers.) Now these things weren't enough to make me set the book down, but they did bring me out of my reading euphoria and make me mentally twitch.

This was one of those books where I didn't like the hero or heroine more than each other, it was pretty equal footing. In fact, if I'm very honest... I liked Neve's brother the best! But, I will try not to digress here and get onto the topic of Neve and Roy.

Neve, it rhymes with leave, is a sexually confident sassy pants Adagio dancer and gymnast. She is a tiny little thing with a huge personality that packs a solid wallop. I fully admit to having a love/hate relationship with this character. There is absolutely so much that I love about her, but a few things I just want to box her ears for. She is all about breaking free and changing her life, being "different" then her past is letting her be. Cirque du Soleil has come calling and she is bound and determined to give the best audition of her life and leave her old life behind. However, life isn't always that easy and things happen when you least expect them to.

Roy is just returning home from a tour in Afghanistan. He's a charming guy from a large Irish family in south Boston, or Southie. He has a case of PTSD but that doesn't keep this guy down, he's out to prove something. I never had any moments of wanting to box Roy's ears, thank goodness. He's a pretty solid character in that regard. Roy jumps in with both feet to help Neve when she needs it.

Neve and Roy come back together four months after a big blow out between the pair of them. They'd been pen-pals for almost a year and Roy had assured Neve that he wasn't with anyone. She trusted and believed that... until his "fiancee" walks in on them in a compromising situation. Roy's back now to set the story straight, and prove that he really is trustworthy to Neve. They have a pretty rocky road, with all manner of things that go wrong, or due to their pasts or family members. Everything is pretty much stacked against these two, they both need to find themselves and sort things out before they can really -be- together... and then they still have to tackle the rest of the mess.

-SPOILERS START HERE-

Off of the top of my head, there were things about each character that really just made me twitch about this book. I mean full on pulled me out of it and just had a "Gah" moment. I did keep reading however, like I said before and they aren't enough to take away from the story, but they are pet peeves for me. Hence my lower rating.

The very first thing that made me pause was Neve herself. She does come off extremely sexual, which that I can handle, but the way she goes about it can seem trashy, or slutty... and then she gets ticked off because people view her that way. For instance, the first letter she ever writes to Roy, she A. Tells him she'll send him dirty letters, but oh, as an after thought, you're not attached to anyone are you? And B. Sends him a photo of her butt in a bikini. Now, hold up here.. You don't want to be viewed as trashy, but you send a guy a photo of your butt (which you know looks good), offer to send him naughty letters as a "distraction" and you don't actually know if he's unattached or not, you're basically asking as an after thought. Yeah... that bothered me.

My issues with Roy weren't actually with -Roy- the character, I really liked him. What I had an issue was with things that were written in regards to him. Roy is not a tall guy, which you'll find out if you read the book... but it's constantly touched upon as if he's inadequate due to his height. Neve mentions it herself, but it's more the writing that does it. It's almost, to me, felt like height prejudice, only not? The second problem I had with Roy, was again, the writing. He has a Southie accent. Which is fine, I love guys with accents... you won't forget he has one, however, because you're literally taken out of the reading, to have it explained to you, multiple times, how his accent is pronounced or sounds when he is something saying. That was probably my biggest twitch of all.

-END SPOILERS-

Aside from my issues, or pet peeves if you will, I did like the story. I learned things that I didn't know before. I had no clue what adagio was. I didn't know about South Boston being called Southie, or that a lot of the Irish immigrants had moved there. The way those things were written was extremely well done, they touch up on them to explain them, but they don't come across like a lecture. Which I loved. So, all and all, I would recommend this book, It had a great story to it.

All I Need Is You was another great book by Wendy Marcus! I read the first book in the series and fell in love with the story and the characters, and I felt the same way about this one too! It followed the same premise as the first book, a pen pal program between a soldier and a girl. However, that’s where the similarities ended…the characters are completely different. The book begins with a letter Neve has written Rory. They start off a little innocent and tame, then they become spicy and naughty which Rory loves. As the two begin sharing intimate details of their past and their daily lives, their bond and connection grows. The two meet in person for the first time when he is on leave with a pretty hot hookup, but it ends with Neve running away after a misunderstanding. But, Rory is determined not to lose Neve after she has come to mean so much to him, but will she listen and give him another chance?

Both Rory and Neve are complex characters, but Neve has a lot of issues going on…abandonment, trust, just to name a few. With some books, all those things may distract and take away from the story, but not in Marcus’s very talented hands. She explores each issue deeply and with great sensitivity. Because of Neve’s past, she doesn’t always make the best decisions, and she could come across as a character you don’t much like. At times, I wanted to shake her, and ask her why she would do or say certain things, but as I got to know her like Rory did, I saw past the persona she wanted others to see, and saw the real Neve who was sweet, kind, and forgiving. Rory had issues stemming from his time in Afghanistan, and I loved how Neve was able to help him as he helped her. They became a couple I absolutely adored…they saw past each other’s faults and loved one another anyway! There are some twists and secrets that are revealed along the way that greatly affect Neve’s life, but I won’t go into detail…you’ll have to discover those yourselves…but they just add to the story.

I love a good military romance, and I love the fact that it goes deeper than just a sexy romance. Marcus does a great job of illustrating what a soldier goes through when they return home. I, myself, appreciate the sacrifice of each man and woman who serves this great country, but I didn’t really realize the trauma that some of them experience and how it affects their lives and the lives of their families. So, thank you, Wendy Marcus, of reminding me of what the word “sacrifice” truly means! I also want to add that you illustrated sacrifice in what Neve did as well concerning her half-brother…it really opened my eyes to that complicated procedure as well. Can’t wait for the next book in the series.

I'm not even going to get into doing the whole Book Summary for this book, instead, I'm just going to dive right in, and though it may be shark week on TV, I have a feeling, that this review could be just as brutal and so to Wendy S. Marcus and to one of my FAVE publishers, I apologise.

The blurb of this book sounds so amazing, it sounded like the perfect way to spend a cold, rainy, winters day/night, curled up on the lounge or in bed with this book and a hot caramel macchiato. In fact, that's exactly what I did when I read the opening letters, they drew me in, they enchanted me, they made the characters sound oh, so interesting, but then we jump to the next chapter and it's months and months later, he's showing up on her door all 'Are you pregnant?' while she's spent the last ten days vomitting and not realising that it would probably be a smart idea, to oh gee, I don't know; GO TO THE FREAKING DOCTORS!!!
Yeah, by this stage (read not even halfway through the first chapter) I was already beginning to get annoyed. Also, no offence to shorter men, I know a few of you, but who writes a sexy Irish military officer and has him stand 5' 10"???? Sorry, sorry...that's my issue, not yours, I just prefer my beefed up men in uniform to at least be about 6'4" and above.
So yes, I could continue on the route and continue to break this book up chapter by chapter, but then this review would be longer than the book itself. So let's just say that I didn't enjoy it, that in my opinion it didn't get better as it went along and that the characters have been easily forgettable so much to the point that even though I read this book two days ago, I had to go back and refresh my memory on what their names were and what their story was about.

This is one of those stories that will pull you in from the first page and keep you up very late reading, it is a story that will make you laugh out loud and shed tears as our hero Rory and heroine Neve journey and to a HEA that has a lot of ups and downs on the pathway.

Rory is a solder fighting in Afghanistan and he has been through and seen a lot of things that you would not wish on anybody he comes from a good family that own and run a pub in Boston he has no serious girls in his life so when he gets a letter from a girl in The States asking if he would like a pen pal this starts lots of letter writing care packages emails and phone calls that starts a beautiful friendship the letters are hot and steamy funny and very heart-warming and these will change Rory's life forever.

Neve is an acrobatic dancer beautiful fit and very athletic and she knows how to please a man her life has been filled with men Neve seems to be always trying to please everyone else she is such a caring thoughtful person and she has decided that it is time that she settles down and she wants to make changes in her life and whether she knows it or not yet Rory is the man that will help her.

Truly this is such an awesome read I was laughing out loud in parts fanning myself in others smiling and tearing up as this wonderful story takes you on a journey to such a beautiful HEA as both Rory and Neve open up learn to trust and love they are caring thoughtful and beautiful people and this is a story that brings so many emotions out in the open I loved it and highly recommend this one and of course it was great catching up with Shane and Brooke from the first book in the series and I do hope that we see Nate's story.

The story began with a letter, which pulled me in from the start. Neve and Rory write back and forth for months, forming a friendship, while he is in Afghanistan. Their banter ranges from comical to sometimes steamy. When Rory finally returns home on leave, they meet for a few fiery moments. Until, there is a huge misunderstanding. Before Rory can clear things up, he must return to duty. After Rory’s tour ends, he goes to find Neve before he heads home. Neve has already decided she wants nothing to do with him. Due to unfortunate circumstances, Rory decides to stick around and make things right. He sticks by Neve’s side through it all, even as he struggles with his own problems. Will Neve and Rory be able to be more than friends?

I loved this story! I was pulled in from the beginning. Neve seemed to be a wild and free spirit, who is also strong and independent. I’ll have to admit, at first I didn’t like Neve when I read about her past history. On the other hand, Rory is a sweet guy who protects those he cares about. Even though he is on the short side for me (since I am taller), don’t let his size fool you, he is tough. He sees the woman underneath, that Neve doesn’t shows to others. To me, Rory and Neve are perfect for each other, now they just have to see it too.

I had been looking forward to reading this one, wanted to know what happened between Neve and Rory. However reading it wasn't that great. I didn't care for Neve, part of it was how free she was with sex. Normally I like women like that, but it came of slutty, not Neve taking what she wanted and having fun. Part of that could be because Neve felt guilty about her past with men and part of it could be because the men came back for more and only wanted sex. Rory wasn't much better, there was some thing about him that turned me off. I was glad he didn't judge Neve for her past with men.

Neve's issues with her family seemed to cause her actions with men. I did like that towards the end she realized she needed to change and did something about it. I even admired Neve for her lunch towards the end of the book, that took guts to do.

My what I expected at all. I didn't read the first book in this series so I have no idea if Neve and Rory's story started there or in this book but I was a little lost.

I thought it would be more pen pals for a while then meeting but what we got was some letters and they had sex, then didn't talk for months and now Rory's back in the states and he wants to explain what happened.

I like Rory better then I liked Neve. I am glad she wanted to change her life but she just kept putting herself in awkward situations. Rory was such a nice guy I thought he could have found someone better but yet I know since they were pen pals he fell.

It wasn't a bad book but I just think I wanted more.

Neve may or may not have some anger issues in her but there are times that I don't Rory cares, "and tried to force my nuts up into my windpipe.” Yup, she’d done that too." Our girl my be tiny but she's a force to be reckoned with she's a determined little thing, "you don’t need to get drunk. All you need is me.” She rocked up and down along his growing erection. “Let me help you to relax." I liked this book, every relationship has its ups and downs and in the end it's about being together and I really liked that.

Oh, Rory! What a phenomenal book, with great character development, and a wonderful romance. Are Neve and Rory traditional heroine/Heroes? No. But there is something magical about the way Marcus spins a tale of modern romance with two utterly normal human beings. There no catch, no additional unnecessary drama; it's just the life of two people who have to overcome trials and tribulations to be with one another. I loved every second of it.

All I Need is You is book two in the Loving You Series and is full of emotion, conflict, and misunderstandings. Two people who start out as pen pals but emerge as much more. Neve and Rory were complicated and not without their faults, but there is no denying their attraction to one another. Another enjoyable read from Wendy S. Marcus.
