From author Oona Ryda comes a high-heat Irish mob romance featuring a ruthless enforcer, a homeless witness with nothing left to lose, and a marriage that begins as a death sentence and becomes something neither of them expected. This is the second book in the O'Rourke Brothers series. Guaranteed HEA.
danger + forced marriage + protector hero
Saoirse Keane has spent her life surviving—fourteen foster homes, years on the street, and a world that taught her no one is coming to save her. Then one night she sees something she shouldn't. A mob hit. The man who pulled the trigger is Declan O'Rourke—Chicago's most feared enforcer. Cold. Controlled. A man who eliminates problems without hesitation. And now she’s one of those problems. Declan should end the witness and be done with it. Instead, he makes her an offer she can’t refuse. Marry him. Or die.
Content This book contains mention of past abuse, trauma recovery, organized crime violence, and explicit sexual content. Intended for mature readers.

Super short read and it kept me entertained the whole time. Is it a mater piece. No. Am I going to binge read the whole series. Yes. Also, I really liked Declan. He was so observant to other’s needs and then helped quietly. He knew he was a monster, that’s what his father made. So he helped whenever and wherever he could. Cute fast read.
Meh. Decent fast read. I wanted to know what would happen. But for a book 111 pages (only 96 of them this story), it was too surface level. Declan never explains why he offers Saoirse marriage. I don’t know, their whole dynamic just felt a tad forced and odd. I liked how their relationship progressed a tad slower, things were rightfully awkward, but when they did fall in love there was no reason. We don’t see them talking or getting to know each other or spending real time together. It’s like strangers avoiding each other to boom… feelings.
I didn’t like how once again S leaves when she hears something out of context. I get why she did and Declan should have been honest front the jump about the threats, but the miscommunication here felt contrived and surface level. Not a ton of emotional impact. I also wanted her to share more of her history with him. We don’t get much of that here, so again things feel very superficial between them. Still, an easy read.
Oona is good at writing short books with morally grey MMCs with soft spots for the FMCs.
She is living rough after a tough start in life. She witnesses something she shouldnt. He offers a deal die or marry him.... Out of choices and exhausted by life she has to choose.
Hes watched his brother and wife and wants that. But never expects to find it.... but can he have it?
Book quote: So, to the question of marrying a cold-blooded psychopathic killer, or dying. I’m not sure there’s anything left in me that still wants to live.
They are both broken individuals that come together through an arranged marriage. Nora doesn't expect much resulting from her upbringing, but Cillian sees something that calls to him and claims her. He will fight his family and anyone else coming against him for the woman who holds his heart. This thrilling story had me all caught up in the drama and sheering this couple on to getting their chance for happiness.

Meh... honestly, I felt like this one was "Claimed" 2.0... with a different opening scene. It was almost as of Declan said, hmmm, my brother did it, so Im going to do it too. Then having the main conflict be almost exactly the same, was disappointing. Declan had a lot more potential for character development.
Overall, the story had a decent flow, but I felt it was a bit repetitive to the first book in the series, and I wish they were a little deeper.
Quick and easy read though, with a little spice.

This book was a short story That I thoroughly enjoyed.2 people living 2 totally different lives meet in an unexpected way And their lives are changed. The characters are well written and totally believable in my opinion. The storyline was clear-cut and straightforward This if you don't have a lot of time on Any day. Just open the book and enjoy the story.
I know it is a short but felt there were plenty of missed opportunities to develop the relationship between the two so when they did eventually have that first moment it wouldn’t have felt so out of the blue.
The writing style made reading very difficult. It was very staccato. Clip, short sentences where things didn’t flow.
It was a good believable storyline. Good editing little spice not too much violence. I like the characters and the growth they went through. I would recommend this book and I will be reading the next one.
Declan and Soairse are so perfect together! Soairse's character is written really well. You understand her anxiety and the trauma she's endured. I loved this novella so much!
Such a great short read! Four brothers who find their other halves in unusual ways. Soarise and Declan meet in a very unique way - at a hit, but truly are made for each other. Love the whole series.
Love this book and it's series and would recommend it to anyone who loves to read about Mafia life and their families and friends 🧡 and Oona Ryda is an amazing writer ❤️
I was glad Declan got his HEA. I was a little confused because at the end of book one Nora found out she was Pregnant but no mention in this book. Still loved this
Loved this - the spice is great, and I love how Declan is down so bad for Saoirse from the start (even when he tries to deny it)! It’s an addictive quick read!
Cillian and Nora belong together! Such a wonderful and beautiful healing love story! Soo soo good and soo soo H.O.T I absolutly loved it! 🥰❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️❤️😍
