This is a amazing story from beginning to end ! One of the “can’t put it down” books. Mr. Dennis puts you the shoes of his characters and you live the story. It is rare indeed to find so many different characters and each fully developed. A fantastic storyline and a satisfying ending.
It is hard to find a western writer who does justice to the time frame he sets his stories in. I’ve enjoyed two of his books so far. I’ll read more of his works, no doubt. Then I read his bio, this guy resides and works in former Indian territory (Oklahoma). As do I. Glad I found sir, perhaps one day our path will cross and we can swap a tale or two.
This Western (oar maybe we should call it Eastern) since it takes place in the northeast U.S. Not long after the American Revolution. The story is about Nathan Buel who is raised by the great Mohawk leader Joseph Brant. Buel is to wed the Chiefs daughter. When she is kidnapped by a jealous mohawk warrior, Buel is soon in pursuit.
This was a good read of the early years of our Country’s Frontier when it was Ohio and Kentucky right after the end of the Revolutionary War. It was not safe to be in any part of it. A time of men like Daniel Boone who spent years at a time alone, traversing the unknown Wilderness and the beginning of the Westward movement for free land, if you could live to keep it.
Very good story. Set after the War of Independence, and the War against the Indians who fought with the British against the colonists. Lots of action, and some romance. A real page turner.
