They didn't believe in love anymore, until they met each other.
Handsome and successful divorce lawyer Trevor Armstrong doesn't believe in love anymore. Every day he sees marriage after marriage fail. When he wins another prestigious case he just wants to wind down and forget the harsh reality of life, a woman is not on his mind - until Nicole Kendrick enters the bar. She changes everything he thought to know about women.
Nicole Kendrick needs Trevor Armstrong - as an interview guest for her radio show. Not more. Not less. Definitely not for love. She's been burnt before and has vowed to never again let a man control her. She needs to guard her heart and protect herself from men. Especially from Trevor, who's a lot more attractive than she's willing to admit.
This is the first book in the Armstrong series, a contemporary romance with hunky heroes and strong, powerful women. True love, and steamy sex scenes.
Each of the books can be read as stand alone novel, but for bigger enjoyment you might want to read them in order. Characters from one book follow through to the next books.
We start out the story with both parties dead set against relationships. He is a divorce attorney and has seen the cruelty people deal each other at the end of marriages. She had a really controlling fiance who had her fired from her job because she broke off the engagement. But magically, upon meeting, he's all in, head over heels. She's head over heels, too, though she's really trying hard not to be. And holy cow! All the exclamation points! So much excitement in this story! At least if you go by the exclamation points there is!!! Yawn. Needs an editor. It wasn't poorly written, per se, but I'm sure an editor would have told her to tone down the exclamation points as well as curb the inner dialogue. And there was a lot of head hopping. I suppose it was cute that they met and it was insta-love, but considering how dead set they both started out, it just seemed unrealistic for them to abandon those concerns and be accepting marriage proposals within a few weeks of meeting. Not interested enough to continue the series.
This was a freebie on Amazon and decided to give it a try. It was an OK read and saw so much potential, since the hero, Trevor Armstrong was likeable. The heroine had valid issues regarding her past relationship, but some of her childish reactions put me off.
The "romance on speed" didn't work so well. Trevor is a well renowned divorce lawyer, who admitted he doesn't understand or have ever experienced "love." The love at first sight scenario would have been okay (romance fiction lover here), but their relationship was too rushed.
Will continue to read the series since I'm curious about the rest of the Armstrong men.
This is a wonderful start to a series. Can't wait for the second installment. The characters and storyline kept me totally glued to book for the entire book.
I loved reading about Trevor Armstrong and Nicole Kendrick. They both have obstacles and emotional scars to get over. He sees divorce everyday and she has seen the worst in man. They get through their problems and I love how the author let them know in theor heart they were for made each other. I can't wait to get to know the rest of the Armstrong family...Ryan is going to great lol This has a hea.
A divorce lawyer who no longer believes in love. A radio show host who has been burned in the past. Trevor and Nicole meet and it is instant attraction. Despite their jaded views on love, they soon find that maybe love is worth the risk. Good story flow and character development will leave readers believing in the power of love.
The premise is solid but the writing is amateur. The dialogue doesn’t flow or sound natural and the characters are simple minded. I’m curious if some of the author’s later works are better.
Power of Love is book one of The Armstrongs by Jessica Gray. The series opener is really good and makes you want to get to know the other members of the family. Nicole Kendrick works for the local radio station. She has her own talk show and is very proud of her work. Her boss tells her to get Trevor Armstrong to appear on her show. No one has been able to get him to interview with them so it is a must for Nicole. Nicole is recovering from a poor relationship and is not looking for a man. Although she doesn’t want to get Trevor on her show, if she wants to keep her show, she has to get him. Trevor Armstrong is a handsome divorce lawyer. He is sought after by those who really want to win. He is very good at getting the best deals for his clients. However, after seeing so many marriages go so ugly before ending, he is determined to stay away from marriage. He is also very good at keeping his pro bono activity under the radar. What lengths will Nicole go to to get Trevor on her show? Will she compromise her own values? Will Trevor give in to his attraction to Nicole?
(I received this book in exchange for an honest review)
"He was disappointed with the idea of love, and after days like today, he wondered if it was anything more than a fantasy."
Trevor Armstrong, divorce attorney to the rich and famous, is jaded on relationships. Nicole Kendrick is running from a psychologically abusive ex. He's firmly established in Chicago. She's newly transplanted. A lawyer and a radio personality....who would've thought that a chance circumstance might set their lives on a whirlwind destined to tear down defenses. That's exactly what The Power of Love can do.
Jessica Gray takes us on a wonderful ride through contemporary love tinged with wishfulness that it really CAN last. Considering how badly each got treated in the past, this love sets them back on their feet despite getting in their own way.
Gray is a completely new author to me. This is also a genre I often steer clear of. However, this novel exudes HOPE. And we can always use that in our lives. I highly recommend this book
This is my first time reading Jessica Gray novel. Recommended by author Shannon Leah. 👍🏽👍🏽
Trevor and Nicole were adorable. Neither really believed in love anymore. Trevor was a divorce attorney who watch people tear each other apart after just several years of marriage. And Nicole had a terrible relationship with a fiancé that wanted to control every aspect of her life, including family, friends and her job. But after meeting each other they would soon realize that love still exist. Great story.
Nicole and Trevor come to this book both with huge chips on their shoulders about love and commitment. It takes the entire book for Nicole to realize what Trevor does about half way through. They are in love. There is a lot of push back from Nicole in this relationship. Sometimes I wanted to jump in the book and smack her in the face. HEA and could be read as a stand alone.
Loved the book shows a woman can hande her self but also can be loved and supported by the one she loves. Looks can be deceiving as she found out about her ex . Trevor is smart handsome a great lawyer .She is courageous beautiful but a title scared .She struggles to be her own but scarred she will be caged A well put together read . This is a series I'm going to read
Power for Love is a quick easy read. Nicole is relationship shy, Trevor doesn't believe in love anymore. Once they meet the attraction is like a dance. One step forward, Two steps back. Trevor seems to realize that love does exist, you only have to find the right someone. Nicole seems to take a little longer. But love always wins.
I initially thought this novel wouldn't be focused on petite, perfect blonde busty woman lusted after by a perfect big powerful man. Sadly it is all this - she isn't strong but he is and that's ok.is it. What woman would ask of it on if she can work?
4 stars I received a free copy of The Power of Love by Jessica Gray and this review was given freely.
Power of Love is a well written romance which depicts Nicole overcoming abuse and accepting both the attentions and Love of the oldest Armstrong child, Trevor. This is a truly heartwarming story and a good lead in to book two which is about Trevor and his brother Ryan.
To hearts meant for each other overcoming a bump in the road. A very nice story but it moved along too sweetly and predictably. A quick pleasant bedtime story.
