Readers will find this futuristic fantasy packed with amazingly detailed illustrations and a cornucopia of objects to find in order to solve the compelling puzzles. Each page has a special fold-out flap with additional information needed to complete the tasks. Educational as well as fun, the book features complete information on all the accurately rendered insects in the book. Bug World is a wonderful way to introduce reluctant readers to the fun of insects-and books!
Mind blowing detailed artwork by Nick Harris with such imagination and panache. The creativity and artistic scope of these drawings is phenomenal for something intended for little kids. When I first saw the Dali based elephant automatons on stilt legs I knew this was the real deal. It's sad seeing the encroachment of more and more digital elements into the book design whereas in previous entries everything was handcrafted. Sadly this seems to be the last thing Harris worked on in a traditional medium and he now works in digital renders which just can't capture the same charm or precision as these illustrations do.
