Anthology of 5 vampire paranormal romances featuring vampires. This is a mixed bag.
My personal favourite is easily the last tale Vivi Anna's Threshold of Pleasure in which an ex-cop in search of a missing woman gets caught between two supernatural brothers one an evil vampire, the other a shapeshifter. The world created here in such a really short space is engrossing and the romance works although it's a tad under-developed on the emotional side.
Absolutely loathed Caridad Pinero's - Her vampire lover. Ugh. A brazen but dumb heroine seats herself at a reserved table and gets seduced and knocked up by a vampire count. Hated the story, the characters and the writing.
Lauren Hawkeye's The Darkling's surrender was pretty good - A woman newly turned into a vampire gets the courage to seduce her boss and turns him into a different type of vampire - sexy, but had enough story to keep me interested.
Laura Kaye's tale of a woman who tends to a wounded vampire king in the middle of a vampire war isn't bad either - although it doesn't have time to let the emotions build. The soul mates idea seems a tad convenient and I wanted more romance - still not bad.
Lastly is Alex Morgan's A vampire's salvation in which a vampire gets released from being wrongly imprisoned for murder and has to find out who framed him, along with the sexy lawyer who got him released. This was OK but didn't really benefit from being a vampire story - the plot would have worked just fine without the supernatural element.
Worth a read for fans of vampire paranormal romance, this anthology's quite sexy but never really blew me away.
