Let me just say a few things about this novel since the author was kind enough to gift it to me and I'm the lameoid who can't finish it.

There are so many words. Words and words and words. Words that just repeat the same sentiment or statement over and over and over again. Whomever edited this needs to find work in another field.

It’s a soap opera! Y’know how in soaps everyone is melodramatic, they all somehow know each other, bat shit things happen on the regular but the rebound from said bat shittiness is somewhere in the nanosecond range? There’s always one or two characters that you think aren’t complete whackadoodles until something bad happens at which point they morph into Queen Whackadoodle. Plus we can’t forget the villain who pops in occasionally just to keep things lively. There's always a couple who LOVES each other forever-n-ever but you know beyond a shadow of a doubt that somewhere along the line they will fall apart and probably get back together then fall apart again. You can usually count on a love triangle which makes for drama and usually a heartbreak or seven. That’s the beauty of a soap and make no mistake Wait For Me is a soap. With a million characters that we jump between and whomever they’re stalking or trying to get their freak on with at any given moment all wrapped in a human trafficking backstory.

18 yr old Jasper gets kidnapped by the villain, Victor, who’s game is human trafficking in young sex slaves. Apparently he’s got so many skillz that even the FBI can’t track him down, course he has a mole in the FBI so there is that. At any rate, he sets up a sting operation to lure Special Agent Susannah Valentine, a rookie mind you, because she and Jasper are getting "too close". Yeah, I’m fairly certain I could find Victor with my 1997 Mac. That had dial up. Anyhoo, he does some bad stuff to Jasper and turns him into his boy slave for 10 mos before Susannah and her brother’s billionaire boyfriend’s friend, Malachi, come to the rescue. Malachi spots Megan, another kidnappee/slave, during the rescue and falls hopelessly in love with her while she’s being DP’d in a sex swing by some "partygoers". Naturally, once they get back to the billionaire’s “castle” it’s like nothing ever happened and those two crazy kids are dry humping in the stables and making googoo eyes at each other. Greatness! Gang banged, schmang banged! Megan took getting raped in public multiple times like a champ then immediately turned her charms on the violet eyed dom who saved her.

description

As you can well imagine Victor the Villainous is none too pleased about having his fucktoy taken from him. You know what that means? Get your popcorn ready because a showdown’s a comin’. I can see the handwriting on the wall, but I cannot soldier on. I'm certain Tyler (the third prong of the love triangle) will play a role. Susannah left the FBI after Jasper's capture, but I'm sure the agency will be involved in the showdown between Dante (billionaire boyfriend) and Victor; I'm certain vast quantities of money will be involved. I wish there were a Cliff's Notes version because 597 pages is... more than I can endure.

A few random thoughts...

All these people cry crystal tear rivers which, naturally, had me thinking of JT.

description

Oh, who am I kidding? I think about JT regularly.

What's with all the skipping? A little thing like human trafficking shouldn’t get you down, I guess.

Jasper has some difficulty adjusting to his new freedom and hardly speaks, cowers regularly and tries to sleep curled up on the floor yet no one even entertains the idea of professional help. Why would they when there’s a Mistress around?

description

Pseudokink using labels of “Dom”, “Sir”, “sub”, “Domme”, “Mistress” & buzzwords/phrases like “topping from the bottom” but it all comes across very awkward. Actually, there’s very little kink in this kink which makes me unhappy. And as a side note if any of these dominants came anywhere near me bad things would happen. Those who claim to be either end of the kink spectrum show very little inclination towards said label. It kind of reminded me of when I was a kid and told everyone I was a princess. Poof! You’re a Princess! Poof! You’re an astronaut! Poof! You’re a superhero! Poof! You’re a Domme! Experience, exschimeriance!

description

Everyone sounds exactly the same, they exclaim frequently and they, evidently, all have issues with contractions. Another thing that made me peevish was the lack of demarcation between perspective changes. That drives me bonkers and there are so many damn people in this sucker… Cupcake got fussy. Ain’t gonna lie. It’s also peppered with colloquialisms like “gnarly”, “stud muffin” and “hell to the no” all of which reinforced the soapy/campy atmosphere.

Lastly, and most bizarrely, I might add, why does a sister bet with a brother when there is a butt plug involved? Don't most people bet money or grunt work? I'm still trying to figure that one out. Double secret weirdness.

In a nutshell...

Human trafficking, rape, forced cock sucking, double penetration spells a dark book and delves into the BDSM fantasy genre. This is fantasy not in the sense of science fiction, but more what BDSM lifestylers avoid and BDSM dark readers use for "alone time". Susannah is a young idealistic twenty five year old, just out of the FBI academy. She's attracted to her neighbor Jasper. She wants to tie him up and have her wicked way with him. Too bad he is only 18 years old. Even if he is legally old enough to date, she feels like a dirty old woman.

This book is a nice long novel. Be forewarned, the reader does need to suspend disbelief. First, a fresh recruit on a human trafficking case is probably not going to happen in real life. This isn't Covert Affairs on cable station USA. Second, just how many rich people are there in this world? And why are they so young? Third, not only is Jasper young, rich and a genius but he's a nice submissive male? Yes, readers, this is a fantasy. These minor items aside, the writing is well done. The book's pace is just right with some lulls and some high. The world building is fine, it's the plot, the BDSM and the characters which make the story.

From a BDSM perspective, this is smoking hawt which is why it is 5 Stings. This book is interesting because it takes both BDSM fantasy and BDSM real life and blends it so well. This is not to say the lines are blurred. There is a clear division between what is not acceptable and what is acceptable. Authors Grinder and McKinney do a good job of distinguishing between the two. What I'm not sure if they meant to do, was make both BDSM styles erotic. Hear me out.

The BDSM fantasy part which is the non-consensual sex slave breaking is a depraved delicious dark side. Jasper is kidnapped and forced from a young hetero male into physically responding to males fucking his ass two at a time or skull fucking his throat. He eagerly sucks male dicks and whimpers beautifully as he's fisted. For those who enjoy the breaking and despoiling of a virgin ass boy, there is a decent amount of sexual fodder in the story. Even though the reader may acknowledge Victor and Nicholas as evil villains, their sadist pervert minds bring forth blazing hawt scenes. Yes, for those who enjoy the darker stories, the fact that Jasper is unwilling does make it hotter. The scenes are not too graphic, just enough to keep the story flowing. These gang bang rape scenes are not used to titillate. It's to paint an ugly picture of human trafficking. To be clear, whilst these scenes are arousing for me, in no way is this a condoning of human trafficking or what was done to the underage minors.

Now, on the flip side, the BDSM practiced by Susannah and her Scooby gang is the more realistic BDSM play. It is milder in intensity and pain. There is no edge play yet it is still erotic in a sensual manner. Whilst the kidnap fantasy is all BD and SM, the contemporary realistic scenes are heavily focused on D/s and a bit of BD. Susannah is the kind of domme which I wish was used in more femdom books. She's strong yet loving. She's doles out the rough pleasure with gentle pain, my favourite combination.

The characters in this book are great. I liked all of them. I even enjoyed the evil villains. Nicholas is a very bad man with terrible ideas and completely psychopathic. There is no redeeming quality about him. He revels in the destruction of innocence. His sexual high is when he listens to begging, screaming and crying. Fear excites him and he even appears to have no problems with incestuous plans. He is the embodiment of a sexual predator and he is not ashamed of it.

Susannah and Jasper are soul mates and their love for each other is strong and sweet. The support from the secondary characters are smooth and they never over shadowed Susannah and Jasper's relationship. The characters are well designed because they all carry their own unique voices. None of them are perfect, except for Jasper. And even then, Jasper isn't annoying in his perfection. If the authors decide to follow up or spin off another story in this world, I'd like to recommend the story of Malachi and Dante. They are both dominant men and quite attractively created. Malachi's story would be interesting based on his family and his childhood.

This story does finish off with a satisfying happily ever after. Although, if this story did end with the bad guys winning so that a second book is required to bring a happily ever after, I think I would have been overjoyed. Sometimes broken toys when rescued are more fun than a perfectly new toy. This book is highly recommended to BDSM readers who enjoy the dark and light swirled together and bound up in chains.

600 pages - gulps! this might take me a while to get through...

6 days later and I'm done. What a ride, one I enjoyed a great deal. This book had a lot going on. I loved a lot, some not so much. Around the middle of the book it waned, there was a scene that I'm sure the author thought was fun, but it bored me to tears and did nothing to drive the plot, in my humble opinion.

The POV changes are swift at times, but 95% of the time there was no mistaking whose POV it was, so I didn't have a problem with it, like other readers appear to have.

The best thing about this story, was the characters. The authors did a wonderful job of bringing them to life, (the characters are real people, I swear). Love or hate them...I couldn't stop thinking about them, their fate, etc. Twenty four hours after finishing the book, I still can't get them out of my mind.

If I was to complain about anything it would be that I didn't get why Susannah became a Dominatrix around the same time as Jasper was taken. And the fact that that was all off page. The reader is told she trained to be a Domme, but never shown. Given it is stated she is a Dominatrix in the opening line of the synopsis, I expected more on that front.

That issue aside, I loved the suspense of the plot, and the plot is heavy with it, more so than the sex. The sex was hot, albeit one act that is a personal squick of mine but I was able to skim over the act fairly quickly.

I liked how the authors made a clear distinction between non-consensual sex and submission, as opposed to consensual BDSM...there are intense scenes featuring both. The non-con scenes are pretty brutal, so consider yourself warned.

Contains: non-con, MM, F/m, F/M interacation.

I really enjoyed this story. It pushed a lot of my buttons.

It was dark without being dark, if that makes any sense. The despair was not all encompassing, and that freed my mind to enjoy the character development more.

This is a romantic thriller, and although I wasn't particularly attached to the secondary characters who's POV was given, I was completely riveted by Jasper, and Suzannah's story.

Reader beware: This story is told from multiple points of view, and can be a bit jarring if you are not used to this type of storytelling, but (big BUT) if you can hang in there and get through that initial road-bump you are well on your way to enjoying all this novel has to offer.

I would also advise to move past the first chapter, if you find your reaction similar to mine. To be brutally honest, I almost stopped because of how Suzannah behaved in the car. I rolled my eyes, and squinted at the page. Not a great start. So yeah, I'm glad I continued, because once that was over, the story was pretty good.

I don't want to give too much away, but this was interesting, and suspenseful, as well as sexy, and emotional.

I'm interested to see where this series goes, and am ready to move to the next book.

WAIT FOR ME is the story of Jasper and Susannah, two fascinating characters, during what is surely the longest, most difficult year of their lives. Occurring in multiple settings with verisimilitude, strong subtext, noteworthy character development, and an all-consuming plot with unexpected twists, WAIT FOR ME is one hell of a powerful story!

I was immediately intrigued by the synopsis then quickly deterred when I saw the number of pages it contained. DONT LET THE PAGE #'S SCARE YOU AWAY! I very, very, very rarely read books that are longer than 300 pages and promise, this one does not feel lengthy. I never once felt like I was reading a book with +600 pages, never! In fact, I was shocked at how fast I flew through this book! By not restricting the # of pages, McKinney and Grinder were able to develop a comprehensive, unique story that will suck you in so deep you won't even realize that time and pages are flying by!

Another factor that could potentially discourage readers but shouldn't is knowing that this is McKinney and Grinder's debut novel. I have read quite a bit of dark erotica and am a very critical reader yet surprisingly, I never would have suspected that this book was written by newbie authors! McKinney and Grinder are obviously extremely talented writers who were meant to work together! After reading just the first 6% of the book I was completely consumed by this book! The fact that there is no delay in getting to the exciting parts is likely a major reason for this; this book is action-ptacked from the very beginning! Most of all, this is a truly incomparable story....I've never read anything like it. I was very impressed by the authors ability to create such a solid, strong subtext.

If it were possible, I would rate this book 4.5 stars instead of 5. This is only because this book could benefit from some editing. There are some typos yet the spelling and grammar is far from a major issue, it's just not 100% perfect. Since I am being negative.... I highly recommend this book to dark erotica lovers yet this would not be my first choice for someone who has never read a dark erotica book about sex slavery. As I mentioned, there is a strong subtext in this book, much of it related to what happens during a sex slave's training. I personally feel that readers might find a few aspects of the story more believable if they have read about or by other means already know about what sex slave training entails.

Off to read book #2 - I can't wait!

Note: after learning about this book, I reached out to one of the authors who kindly provided me with a free copy in exchange for my review.

Firstly I want to say this book has a beginning, a middle and an end. This could so easily have been split up into a trilogy but the two authors have put it out as one fairly long book. However, just because of its high page count, don’t assume you will ever want to skim past anything, because trust me, every word is needed in this story.

I don’t even know how to put into words what it was about this story that made me love this book. There is no valid reason as to why I should like this book!

For a start I don’t really enjoy reading about Dommes yet the female lead, Susannah, was a Domme. I don’t normally read mm, yet most of the male characters were gay and engaging in gay sex. I don’t like forced sex, yet a lot of the sex was non-consensual. So why did I enjoy the book?

Well it was the combination of the characters and the writing style of the authors. I found it very easy to be dragged into each hellish situation. There was enough description that you knew exactly what was going on, without being sickeningly graphic.

I thought Victor and Nicholas were brilliant villains. They were evil, they were bastards, they were cunts of the highest cunty degree. Victor was a sick and twisted bastard. Nicholas was no better as he actually started the abuse under the umbrella of training Jasper to be the perfect submissive for Victor. There is nothing about Nicholas that can ever be fixed, he is beyond redemption. Not that he wants redemption, he is quite happy to inflict his sadistic, torturous regimes onto Jasper and the other kidnapped victims. I would actually say he is dancing closer with the devil than Victor. Victor is obsessed with Jasper, in a twisted fucked up kind of way he was in love with Jasper.

Jasper starts off the horny 18 year old neighbour, not exactly innocent sexually, but certainly gave off an innocence that was endearing. He took the training that was forced upon him and he lived through the darkest times. He was so expertly trained by Nicholas, I did actually wonder if there was any way back for him.

Malachi, Dante and Tyler were great secondary characters. They embodied protector roles, each fighting for what they wanted.

I had absolutely no problem with anything that happened in the book…the good, the bad and the ugly except for one thing…Susannah. I really didn’t like her. I don’t think she proved her love. I think she was selfish. She wasn’t concerned about Jasper and what he wanted. She was almost like a predator. She was just wanting him back to sexually dominate him. Don’t kid yourself that she’s any better than Victor really. She wanted Jasper for her own gratification like Victor wanted him. It beggars belief that anyone would think the right way to handle someone who had been rescued from sex slavery would be by doing exactly what he had escaped from. It reinforced that for me when Jasper responded and spoke freely to the guys and wouldn’t even look at Susannah at first.

This book scores top marks from me. If you like dark, sick, twisted, demonic villains and their debauched lifestyle sullying, abusing, fucking over an innocent then one click this! It will keep you on the edge of your seat, it will keep you holding your breath, it may even make you shed a tear for utter desperation and degradation of an 18 year old lad whose only crime was being a typical horny teen fantasising about his older neighbour.

A review by The Blogger Girls.

This is a story about sex trafficking, sex slaves to be exact, and the story is one of first-hand experience.

It starts with Susannah, an FBI agent who's goal is to crack open and take down a group of sex traffickers. Susannah is a rookie who is currently contemplating if she actually wants to stay with the FBI. She is also currently lusting after her young neighbor, an 18 year old genius she has friended. Jasper also has quite a crush on Susannah, but Susannah has kept things on the friend level due to their age difference. Jasper has a submissive streak and is drawn to Susannah's dominant nature.

When things go horribly wrong, Jasper is taken by the very people Susannah has been after. He spends 10 months transforming into a sex slave for the head of the operation. While some details are given, most is somewhat glossed over, so while the events are horrific, they weren't too difficult to get through. Jasper is basically forced to be everything at the whim of the evil Victor, and his training to get to that point is harsh and brutal.

In the meantime, Susannah is barely living. She has honed her skills as a dominant, though while she takes on clients and sessions, she keeps everything professional. She has been staying with her brother and his lover who uses his wealth and resources to eventually find and recover Jasper.

Jasper barely manages to make it through his rescue. The urge to follow the directions of his trainer and master are strong, but he pulls it off. What follows is the next segment wherein Susannah and the others try to heal Jasper and bring him back to a semblance of normalcy. It's not easy, especially as there are a few dominants in the household (Susannah's brother-in-law and his best friend/head of security) making it difficult for Jasper given his recent experiences. Understandably, it isn't easy for Jasper to adjust, but this was my favorite part of the story to see play out.

This is a long story that could have easily been told in three parts, although it was nice not to have to wait for it all. There are times that Susannah was a little frustrating and tiresome. Her constant musings about Jasper's age, then about getting him in her playroom (after his ordeal) seemed really out of place. That said, when I really enjoyed when she and Jasper were together, whether she was in charge, or she was allowing him to be.

There are a few other things that you had to sort of just set aside as rather unlikely, but if you can do that, this is a very well put together story. It kept my interest, and had a big enough variety to keep me turning pages. There was a bit of dark, a bit of sweet, some twists, turns, mystery and suspense, and a bit of action to boot. Both the m/f aspects, as well as the m/m, were all very well written. I will definitely be looking for more from these two authors in the future.

There are erotica books you read for alone time and erotica books that have loveable characters and a great story and the erotica component is just the cherry on top. For me this was the later.

Plot wise, this is a story of a pair of FBI agents -- Susannah and Tyler -- working to bring down a human trafficking ring. While in the midst of trying to take down the traffickers, Susannah and Tyler are ambushed and Jasper -- Susannah's barely legal neighbor and potential romantic interest -- is taken. After witnessing Jasper being raped, Susannah is released to suffer knowing she failed to protect him. Tyler is found barely alive.

Nine months pass. Susannah has quit the FBI and moved in with her brother Travis and Dante, his millionaire boyfriend and Dom. We learn in retrospect that Susannah stayed around long enough to see that Tyler came out of his coma, but then vanished without a trace.

Eventually Dante and some of his friends find a way to help Susannah rescue Jasper. But will he be too broken to recover? And will the human traffickers, one of whom had a personal obsession with Jasper, let them try to rebuild their lives?

Hopefully that wasn't too spoilery. The bulk of the book is Jasper's recovery, including flashbacks to what happened to him in captivity.

Edited to add:

I might have gotten a bit too book report-y with the summary, but I really enjoyed the book. Loved the characters, primary and secondary. The consensual BDSM was very sexy, and the non-con ... Well it had its moments too. ;)

I was given and ARC of this book for an honest review. Wait for me is a dark story of Susannah Valentine who is young up and coming FBI agent. Susannah and her partner Tyler are investigating a human trafficking ring. She also has an 18 year old neighbor who she spends a lot of time with. Jasper is a senior in high school, who speaks several different languages, is also getting a college degree and is a star on the high school football team. He also has a major crush on his FBI neighbor. Spending time with her consist of him helping her on his computer gathering intel on Victor: the head of human trafficking ring. One fateful night sees Jasper abducted into the very ring Susannah is investigating. The aftermath has deadly consequences. This is the story of not only finding Jasper but bringing an end to Victor’s reign of terror. Be prepared, this book is not for the faint of heart. It took me a while to get through the book but that was not because it was not good but the subject matter can be a little intense for some readers. I did enjoy the book and even look forward to another installment.

I really liked it. It was a strange but interesting love story. I couldn't put the book down. It was sad the hell Jasper went through. Its sad that acts like this really do occur and weird how some can be strong enough to pull through after. It was a good how even tho he went through all that, he still loved her and was still able to submit to her. It was defiantly interesting story.

Susannah is 25 and just starting her career in the FBI and her first case is a doozy, human sex slave trafficking. And the case has become even more personal after her 18 year old neighbor is taken because of her.

He may be only 18, but Jasper is off the scales smart and he knows what he wants and it's Sussanah. If only he could convince her, but when everything goes horribly wrong will the age difference be the only thing keeping them apart?

This is mosy definitely a darker read, dealing with rape, human trafficking, and abuse of the BDSM lifestyle among other topics. So I'd say reader beware before jumping into this one.

The story is longer in length than most novels lately, but where this could have been two or even three parts I loved that it was kept as a whole. And every bit of it gives you information even when you don't realize it right away.

Jasper is young and idealic, but he's not stupid in any way and sees the world as it is. Hes got strength of mind that keeps him sane when he should have broken and is able to put himself back together bit by bit with the help of those that care about him.

Sussanah always see the worst of things and throughout the story you see her as the learns to realize the better side of bad situations. She's also determined once she sets her mind to something and won't let anyone or anything stand in her way. She's a bit lost at times but thats's where the other great characters come in and you see how they all come together for each other in any way they need.

There are good times that are great and bad times that are truely bad. You feel for the characters as they go through their journey and because of the way the story was written you feel like you are right there with them.

Now this does show the bad side of BDSM, but it also showed the insanely HOT yummy side of it too. There's a balance to the story so even though things go bad at times you also see the outcome and good for the characters. An overall well rounded story I really enjoyed.

Susannah is an FBI agent who on her first assignment has been working on a serious sex trafficking case where she is close to taking down a very dangerous operation. Betrayal from within the organization has put her in a position where someone she cares deeply about her has been taken forced to serve as a sex slave for the leader of the trafficking operation. Nearly a year later, Susannah with help from some powerful friends is able to rescue and reunite with the person she loves only to wonder whether he can be brought back from the trauma and depravation he has experienced. Also, the traffickers they rescued him from are out for serious revenge.

This book was easy to read straight through. It is an odd combination of really dark and really "fluffy", but the back and forth between good and evil made for an interesting read. I liked that the author(s) made a pretty clear distinction between consensual D/s arrangements, and sexual slavery and rape. These characters suffered situations that i think few would be able to survive. Seeing their strong sense of friendship and family help pull them through was really endearing. Susannah is a character who is easy to empathize with even as she struggles with a lot of tough issues. Jasper is pretty amazing, and I really liked seeing all the different dynamics of the various situations and relationships he went through. The different sexual dynamics of all the main characters provided a happy tone even after some really disturbing situations. Dante, Travis, Malachi, and Megan each brought something different to their own relationships and the group.

In addition to the relationship story lines, there was a lot of mystery, action, and suspense in this book that added a lot to the story and kept things moving forward. I pretty much read this straight through once I started, and would not hesitate to read more by this author(s) in the future. 3.5 stars

Susannah a newly qualified FBI agent is in love with her 18 year old neighbour Jasper. She only holds back from him because of the 7 year age gap. Susannah is having serious doubts about her career choice, but her first assignment is so horrific she really wants to nail the sex and human traffickers. Soon Susannah is captured, her FBI partner is nearly killed and Jasper is kidnapped as a pet, she is released and needs to find Jasper before the damage that's done runs too deep, can she save him ?

Wow, where do I start ? This is a long and really dark book not the common 'read it in one session' book! ....but if I had enough hours and didn't need to sleep I probably would have read it in one go as it was that gripping. There is a lot of non-consensual sex which I usually don't like, however the way the book is written it makes a fantastic read with so many twists and turns - I really enjoyed it. In places the drama and suspense was so intense I could feel my heart beating, the adrenaline pumping and couldn't read fast enough.

The bad characters were very well portrayed and certainly lived upto their names. Whilst I loved all the characters the only thing I couldn't get my head around and understand was Susannah's need to dominate Jasper so strongly especially after everything he has been through.

I loved that this is a standalone and that the authors didn't split this book up, it could've easily been a trilogy but it's so refreshing that it wasn't. Such a great read and not your usual run of the mill story.

WOW - Jaw dropping - Mind opening. I was captivated from the get go. When I first went to read this book for review, I was warned - This is Dark Erotica - A First for me. I was anxious to see what I was in for. I went into the story with an open mind (so glad I did), it was different to what I had expected and not in a bad way. I loved this story, it touches on so many untold subjects and I think its not only fascinating, but also disgusting (if that makes any sense).
I am amazed at how such an obviously talented Author, can take so much and put it into one book, without the story falling apart. You have done a fantastic job TS McKinney, and you are one Author I would recommend to anyone who is looking for something completely different.

*Book received in exchange for honest review.*

oh boy, the story itself was great. The characters were spot on. The issue I had with reading this was how in the chapter one minute it would be Suzannah's POV and then in a millisecond, it would be another character. It threw me, I have to be honest. This could of done with more editing, words that need spacing etc. I couldn't keep up with what was happening.

Susannah Valentine, a 25 year old FBI agent, is second guessing her choice of employment/career. Currently she is working on a case to put away a sex trafficker, Victor Monclair, for a very long time. However, the night she and her partner, Tyler Montague, were set to close their case, their identity and case were compromised and the entire rendezvous was a setup. Now in the grips of Victor and his partner/"sex slave trainer", Nicholas Kuzenkova, Susannah knows that she is now just awaiting her death by Victor's hand (just like Tyler) while bound and held prisoner in the warehouse/rendezvous point. During the introduction, Victor tries to bait Susannah by bringing Jasper, Susannah's 18 year old neighbor and love of her life, into the room to watch Jasper being brutally and sexually abused by Victor. Victor is instantly attracted physically to Jasper so a thank you for introducing Jasper to Victor (indirectly), Victor spares Susannah's life. Victor has now claimed Jasper as his "pet" and kidnapped him to his compound. By taking Jasper, Victor has left Susannah mentally broken, emotionally damaged and in a state of despair.

After leaving the bureau, Susannah spends many months in a state of depression. Everyone at the bureau blamed her for the disappearance of Jasper, the compromising of the case, and Tyler's injuries. After the insistence of Travis, her brother, Susannah moves in with him and his boyfriend, Dante. While living with her brother, she finds the strength and courage to she needs to fight back and bring Jasper home to her where he belongs. There are a few twists and turns along the way. She knows it won't be an easy task and she will need help of others to bring home safely and out of harm's reach.

Going into this review, I have mixed emotions with the outcome of this story.

I liked the storyline - it had a great start and the story has great bones. The character Tyler was really believable to me. He played his role really well. He was the role of the best friend, but he wanted more with Susannah than be "friend-zoned". Tyler surprised me with the depths he was willing to go to make Savannah see he was the right choice for her.

Travis and Jasper had some of moments between the two of them were quite therapeutic for Jasper. As a submissive, Travis talked to Jasper like there was nothing wrong with him Jasper used Travis to get out of his element of being "broken". I liked that aspect of his character. Travis didn't "baby" Jasper when he told him the blunt truth. With that being said, Travis to me was very childish and some of the things he said to his sister and "master/boyfriend" Dante. Travis made me think that he wasn't able to really hold a serious conversation without saying something that was pithy and sarcastic. He was in a sense, disrespectful.

I, however, wasn't a fan of the BDSM in this story and I'm not really sure where that fit into any of this except as a method of helping Jasper. I've read some stories in the past and I didn't mind them some I generally enjoyed. However, it fell short for me in this story. Susannah's first introduction to this whole story is of her crying to Tyler because she is unsure she wants to be an FBI agent. In this story however, she's a Domme. Hmm...I'm not seeing how the 2 are related. It wasn't really important or needed or even mentioned until after Jasper's kidnapping.

Before Jasper's kidnapping, Susannah has never had sex with Jasper. While Jasper is gone, that seems to be the only thing she wants to do; to only have sex with him and dominating him in the bedroom. Wanting to have conversations, spending time with, and/or picking up where they left off with Jasper was never mentioned the entire time she was "missing" Jasper. There should have been more depth to allow the readers to understand her love and devotion to Jasper. She lusted after him, his body, beauty, and submission. That was all I picked up on from the beginning of the story. I would have liked to have seen a prologue explaining the importance and depth of Jasper's and Susannah's relationship before Victor got involved. I got more insight of the relationship with Tyler and Susannah than I did with Jasper. To me, their relationship felt forced.

This is a 3rd person omniscient written book. I'm not a fan of these types of stories because it doesn't give the characters a chance to tell the story, but we are getting the author's perspective and only get to see what the authors want to tell the readers about each character and what they are thinking without ever experiencing first hand and delving into their brains. After saying that, that did not play any part of my review or rating. However, I really would have LOVED to have seen this in Susannah's perspective and Jasper's perspective...and maybe possibly Dante's perspective when Susannah was struggling during the 9 months w/o Jasper. I believe the relationships would have been stronger and we as the readers would have been able to see and understood the dynamics of all of the characters. I would have loved to get inside of Jasper's head a bit more.

Victor seems a bit of a contradicting character. He was a bit unbelievable for me. I get that he was a bit mentally unstable but not in the sense that he would it doesn't really make sense to me how he was able to have a feeling toward Jasper like he was.

“Guess what I came up with.” He waited patiently, his black eyes blinking slowly while he stared at Jasper and then at Susannah. A good minute passed. “Oh! You guys can’t answer me! Ball gags. I forgot. Sorry.” He stroked his chin. “Now, where was I? Punishment befitting the crime, that’s where we left off. I’ll take the one thing she desires the most in this world…and I’ll hurt it. I’ll hurt it over and over again for years and years. And, with every act of punishment and humiliation, you will know that it is happening, to you, because of her. And, with every passing moment of every day, week, and year, Susannah will have an idea of what is happening to you and that it is her fault.”

Victor's character didn't scare me near as much as he did in the first meeting. I got a bit confused as to who was in charge of the entire venture; Nicholas or Victor. Nicholas's character held a bit of my attention. He was a character you don't want to cross by any means. He was the antithesis of a human with a soul. I don't quite understand what his intentions were for Malachi. In one part of the story he wants revenge on something that happened many years prior, and in another part he wants Malachi to join him and make their own empire of training "sex slaves".

I did run across a few grammar issues. There were a few repetitive words that could have been changed using a thesaurus (specifically the word "desire"). There were a few words that didn't sit well with me and if the book was written in 1st POV, it could be excused and say the character's frame of mind uses words as such, however, seeing as it is written in 3rd POV they were a bit less forgiving...using the adjectives "super duper" and "clusterfuckery" in this type of book is making me question the direction in which the authors are trying to go with this story and I wasn't able to take it seriously after that.

This story started strong, but it fell short for me when the BDSM and the role Susannah played in the world were introduced, due to her characteristics being too contradicting to fulfill that world, I found it too unbelievable.

This has the same feel to it as the The Tied Man by Tabitha McGowan...depravity, desolation, and female saving the male. I wanted to like this story, but it fell too short for me with unbelievable characters, forced relationships, and childish behaviors. It missed its mark.

I give this a 2.5 - 2.75 stars.

This book is a very dark look at the world of human trafficking and the wicked people who participate in this life.

The main characters are:
 Susannah a rookie FBI agent in her public life and a Domme in her private life

 Jasper Madewell, Susannah’s 18 year old neighbor, who loves her and she loves him, however, because of his age she rejects his advances.

 Tyler Montague, Susannah’s FBI partner and mentor. He also wants a personal relationship with Susannah but she only sees him as a friend.

 Victor and Nicholas are the very bad and severely disturbed men who run a very large human trafficking ring.

 Travis, Dante and Malachi are secondary characters who play a significant role in Susannah’s life. They are her brother and friends who see her through a very tough time in her life.

What I like about this book:

It is important to mention upfront that this isn’t a short one day read. I spend a lot of time complaining about the recent trend of very short 80 to 100 page serials so I must applaud authors who take the time to give us a full length novel. Wait For Me is approximately 600 pages so you get your money’s worth.

The Characters:

Love, love, love the characters—all of them.

The characters are well written and developed. The reader gets into the head of each character to the point that you know what they are thinking. You feel their joy and pain during each step of their journey. The “bad guys” are pure evil. There isn’t any attempt to make them likeable in any way. The reader is supposed to hate them and trust me you will. The support characters are perfect. They fill in the blanks so to speak and allow the reader to understand the main characters more completely.

Susannah is my favorite type of heroine. She is strong but vulnerable. She hurts like anyone else and, at the same time, draws on her inner courage to pull herself out of her doldrums and fight.

Jasper is a super smart, very attractive young man with a winning personality and he is tough. There are many times throughout the story that you will cry for him both happy and sad tears.

The Storyline:

Any story with the underlying theme of human trafficking is going to be dark and this definitely fits the bill. We see the human trafficking world from all sides, law enforcement trying to track down and prosecute the scumbags, the scumbags themselves, the victims, and the participants who actually purchase and abuse the young people who are caught in this evil web.

BDSM is a real part of the story. It shows the lifestyle as an acceptable kink but then it also shows evil masquerading as BDSM in the underworld. There are several times in the book that I could feel my stomach rumbling when the evil made me sick.

The love story is beautiful. Actually there are several love stories running concurrently. The one between Jasper and Susannah is lovely. It is hard to say too much about this relationship without giving away clues to the storyline that the reader needs to experience personally. The love story between Travis and Dante is real and entertaining. I love these two characters and how they lighten some dark moments in the story while still showing their love for each other. Gretchen, the surrogate mother figure, loves the eclectic group like family.

The mystery or crime solving and ending is very satisfying. I enjoyed the twists and turns of the plot. There are times where the reader is sitting on the edge of the chair full of trepidation and biting ones finger nails. The fear in the pit of my stomach during the last few chapters is tangible.

What I didn’t like:

There are times that I found myself waving my hand because I couldn’t picture some of the events actually happening. Since these scenes are mostly associated with the human trafficking and the law enforcement aspect of the story, it was easy for me to give the hand wave because I don’t have any real knowledge of this area.

I loved the ending but I wanted a little more. I don’t know what I wanted and I guess that is why it falls into an unclear area of what I didn’t like. I need to stress that the ending is a very good ending I just want more.

**

I haven’t read anything by Ms. Grinder or Ms. McKinney in the past but I will look for them in the future. In summary, this book is a good, solid B+ for me. I like dark stories with twists. My only caution is the reader needs to know going in that you will cry and you will feel a lot of anger and, thankfully in the end you will smile.

I am rather mixed on this book, I loved the plot, the characters were intense and easy to connect to, but it was long and it felt like three books in a series all put between two covers, giving you two cliffhangers in one book. That isn’t a bad thing, it certainly didn’t take away from the story and the interest I had, just a style that I am not familiar with so that was something I needed to adjust to.

Step one in the book we meet Susannah, Tyler and Jasper. Susannah is in her mid-twenties and has become a FBI agent because her father lost his life as an agent. She is fresh out of training, paired up with the sexy Tyler who wants more from her than a partner; he wants her to help in a human trafficking ring, led by Victor. Jasper is Susannah’s 18 year old neighbor who has a crush on her, unfortunately she has feelings for him but the age difference stops her from going forward with it. She is not even sure she wants to be an agent in the FBI, burn out had come early for her with all the evil she sees, but when Jasper is taken by the traffickers due to her inviting him to help track them down, she comes face to face with the horror they will put on someone she cares about to keep their freedom and Susannah’s silence. Not only was Jasper taken, but Ty was brought in because a “mistake” in information. With the guilt of Jasper being a sex slave now, Ty being almost killed and the FBI taking actions that was not what she thought, she ends up living with her brother and his lover, which leads us to step two in this book.

For almost a year she lives in the depression and guilt of what happened to her, Jasper and Tyler. Her brother and his lover, who is very rich and influential, try everything they know to help her get over this. Nothing will help till she knows if Jasper is alive and free. Her brother’s lover is a Dom and he sees Susannah as a Dom too so they use the club and submissive to get her to take control of her live again. Those are nice breaks from reality but nothing less than Jasper in her arms will be enough. When a rescue attempt is organized she goes on the mission and what she sees shatters her even more. I will admit, one scene in this part shattered me but we soon find that Jasper can be saved physically from Victor and his right hand Nicholas, but mentally they might be too late.
Step three in this story and probably the most gut wrenching for me as a reader. Once Jasper is brought back to her brother’s home, the long road to recovery begins. It will take a village to get Jasper back to any sort of normal and Ty wants to be part of Susannah’s life as well. She will have to face her guilt head on and embrace that she only has a limited role in fixing either man but full power to fix her.

So much happens in this book that I can’t share for risk of spoiling the story for you. I highly recommend this book if you love intensity, action and some dark and evil deeds. The hotness ranks high with this one as well but I was more impressed with the plot. My only complaint was I just wished it read more as one whole story with consistency throughout instead of a three part novel placed in one book. Not a huge complaint at all considering the epic ride the author is about to take you on.

This story was very well written. I fell completely in love with it. The story is about sex trafficking, or should I say sex slaves. If you love dark reads you would love this story.

This book introduce you to an FBI agent name Susannah, she is on a mission to take down a group of sex traffickers. Susannah is a rookie that isn’t sure she wants to stay with the FBI. She became friends with her neighbor Jasper who she also has the HOTS for, but she won’t act on it because he is only 18. One of the things she absolutely adores is that he is a Jack of all trades. He also has a major crush on her. But what she really like is Jasper has a bit of a submissive side that calls to her dominant nature. What is one of the worst things that could happen? Yes, Jasper is taken by the traffickers that Susannah has been after. Susannah is feeling guilty for not being able to protect Jasper. Susannah is working on her dominant skill, training, and putting together resources to bring Jasper home. Jasper had a few problems with the rescue because of this submissive nature his instincts was always to follow the orders of his trainer and master. Jasper had a hard time trying to get back to normal after the kidnapping. Susannah was determined to help him at all cost. In this book you will encounter sadness, love, hurt and survival. And you will love every second of it all. I really enjoyed the time that Susannah and Jasper spent together after she got over the age difference. Although it was sort of dark it was still had it sweet moments. It was also full of twist and turns and enough mystery and suspense to hold my full attention from start to finish. I gave this book a 4 star and am looking forward to reading more by these authors.

I received an early release copy of this book for a blog tour and an honest review.

Let me start out by saying that this book was SO much more than I expected. It took me a while to read it as I've been super busy, but I think it all worked out the way it was supposed to because I wouldn't have wanted to race through this anyways. I thought it was gonna be a short, hot, sexy BDSM based read and boy, was I wrong. The emotional level of WAIT FOR ME was constantly gut wrenching. I went from laughing at Jasper and Susannah's funny relationship, the sexy witty banter and the pent up sexual frustrations they both seem to feel, to tears rolling down my face when Jasper was taken, and then on again and off again during the story. The bitter taste of betrayal, the emotional high of beating a foe, the all encompassing feeling love LOVE...
The characters are amazingly well written and the storyline was super. A wonderfully dark and emotional read...it was kind of like a train wreck, I couldn't look away even if I wanted to. I only had limited time to read at any given point during the last couple of days, but when I wasn't reading, I wanted to be. The story just kept calling to me...please...read me...read me...
The emotion, the hot sex, the not so hot sex because you know that it was just WRONG (but it was so well written it was hot anyways) and did I mention that I needed a Kleenex on more than one occasion? I've even been telling people and posting about the book before I even finished it!
5 Stars is where I've gotta be on this one. I just couldn't leave this story alone. It stole my heart.

description

Susannah is an up and coming FBI agent that has a naughty side. Jasper is her hot young neighbor that’s just begging to submit to her and the feelings she inspires in him. But a case that Susannah is working on hits too close to home and Jasper is taken by a notorious sex trader and she won’t stop until she bring him home no matter the amount of time that has passed .

Jasper is a genius and a natural born submissive and is drawn to Susannah. She is who he wants as his mistress. But not everybody wants that and when outside forces intervene, will he ever be whole so he can be the submissive his mistress wants or will his past dictate his future?

Susannah and Jasper have to deal so much just to get to each other and nothing will stop them from being together . This book contains BDSM themes, sexual assault situations, and contain dark other elements. This is not a light read but it is a story that makes you wonder how far is too far. Can a love withstand so much damage and can it heal with how much damage was done? Susannah and Jasper face so much from outside forces; from an enemy that is virtually unstoppable to a source within their inner circle.

This story has so much going for it; from the plot , the main characters to the secondary ones that play a major role in making this story one of my favorite dark reads . B.J.Grinder and T.S.McKinney gave a story of suspense, love and a whole lot of kinky from page one. I would definitely recommend this book for anyone looking for a dark kinky read. I cant wait to read another book by these two great authors.

***Reviewed for Sarah & Kirsty's Book Reviews***

This book is a very dark read and contains scenes of rape and human trafficking. 25 year old Susannah has just started her career in the FBI and her first case deals with human trafficking. I was a bit surprised that this was her first case as I thought you would have to have a bit more experience and take on smaller cases first, but what do I know? Jasper is an 18 year old computer genius and also Susannah’s neighbour. Susannah wants Jasper but she is worried about the age gap even though its only 7 years. Jasper is completely head over heels in love for Susannah. I really enjoyed reading this book but it was very long. This could easily have been split into 2, maybe 3 books but then it probably would have had cliff hangers and I hate those! There are so many twists and turns in this book, you can’t help but be completely engrossed in it. The villains in this book were refreshing as they weren’t soft; they completely lived up to their names. I loved Susannah, I don’t think I have read a book with a female Dom so this was a nice surprise. Overall I really enjoyed the story, both authors did a great job. There were a few grammar problems but this didn’t deter from the book. 4 stars

When it comes to an type of erotica, it's usually sex first and plot second. Thankfully, with Wait For Me, that's not the case! While this story will satisfy your bookish fantasies, it will also engage you in a twisty plot with very dark elements.
Susannah is the main character, a tough FBI agent with a spft spot for her younger neighbor. First of all, I'm sure people will have reservations with a woman in her late twenties wanting an eighteen year-old, but I didn't. Before anyone gets their panties in a bunch, just remember that, in America's eyes, he's legally an adult.
Jasper, the teen in question, isn't much different from any other character you'd find, except that he's younger and extremely smart. He's still sexy, but his character pales in comparison to Susannah.
Plot-wise, it was very interesting. I liked combining human trafficking, FBI and romance. It's not a typical threesome, that's for sure, but it worked very well.
My only issue with the book was that, despite its excellent storyline, it was a bit predictable. I knew certain things would happen at certain times. It didn't make it less enjoyable, but it was still a little disappointing.
Bottom line: if you like your sex with a good dose of actual plot, as I do, you'll enjoy Wait For Me!

This book is not for the faint of heart, it is a very dark book and has descriptions of certain situations that might make some very uncomfortable.

I gave this book 4 stars.

This book will take you down many different paths before you reach the end and when you're done you're going to sit there for a second and wonder what you just read and why you liked it. Yep that is what happened when I read this. I have to say I don't know why I liked this book but I did. Again this book is very dark and if you're into a suspenseful book then you need to pick this up.. BUT this book is full of rape and human trafficking so if that bothers you please just keep going. It was done in a tasteful way, but still may push buttons for some.

5 stars for this M/F with some M/M, M/M/M
My reason for wanting to read this book was that I had read book #2 Justice for Me, not knowing that it was actually the second book in a series. I loved that book and had to read the first one. Holy crap! This book was amazing! If you don’t like dark this book isn’t for you, it deals with sex slaves, rape, torture and a few other dark items. You can’t help but fall in love with Jasper and feel his every emotion that he goes through in this book. I can’t tell you how many times I cried while reading this book, not because I was sad but because I felt his emotions so strongly it felt as if I was going through everything with him. I wasn’t really a big fan of Susannah, she just rubbed me the wrong way for some reason, a reason I can’t really explain but I felt it all the same. It was a long book but well worth the read, highly recommend.

I had a hard time getting past some parts in this book but it is not due to the author's writing. The writing in this book was good. The characters were built with personality in mind.

Susannah have a job to do but no one know exactly how difficult it is going to be. Susannah has a lifestyle that is not accepted by everyone. When they learn of what the job entailed, Susannah was the perfect fit for it. She just didn't know how deep she would have to go. How far will so go to save someone?

The two villians in this book Victor and Nicholas are one with very twisted minds. The problem is that Susannah has to get close to them in order to figure out what her next move will be. But what will happen once the mission is over.
This was a long read but well worth it. It was filled with mystery and suspense.

Wow, what a book, I loved it! My emotions are all over the place.

Wait For Me is quite a dark read which delves into the world of human trafficking and there will be triggers for some people. It has rape, m/m scenes, BDSM, totrure, kidnapping, human trafficking but it also has a love story at the heart of it, the kind of love that is so strong it refuses to die and will overcome anything to survive.

This is the first book I've read from authors T.S. McKinney and B.J. Grinder but it won't be the last.
I can definitely recommend Wait For Me, go 1-click now!

My review on this book was that at the being I was not so sure about it. I think what was turning me away was the the chapters where so long. You felt like it was never going to end. This book I wish was a series. You have a fbi agent who fell in love with a neighbor who was young and she wouldn't act on her feeling because she said he was to young. What she did not know was that he was going to be taken and be used as a sex slave. The person who took him was the same person she was trying to take down. At the end of the store you will see how the title gots it name ans see how sick her ex partner who she thought was her friend

Get ready for an emotional journey filled with intensity. Wait for Me reads like a trilogy in one book, and will not have you complaining about the length (we all know that size isn't everything, but the larger the better sometimes!). This book is not for the faint of heart or anyone who gets squeamish easily. There are some brutal scenes that deal with some heavy issues. Despite the seriousness of the book, there are moments in here that are wonderfully passionate and have very erotic scenes.
This is a well written book, long enough to give you a complex plot from beginning to end, and does not pull any punches.
