A breezy overview of sixties fashion, in particular female fashion, emphasizing the role of the young in creating looks that were high on the thigh, flirty and kinky, the latter a word coined by the Brits to denote a look that was stylishly outlandish. There are some errors, though. Th author, Samantha Bleikhorn, erroneously identifies trailblazing London retailer, Barbara Hulanicki, as Biba, which instead was the name of her store. Biba was her sister's nickname. Bleikhorn repeats this mistake several times. So she needed a better editor. On the other hand, she scores points by being attuned to the films of the day which show off the fashion she is talking about, among them To Sir With Love and Blow Up. These are good reference points and encourage an experience of the sixties style in a way more direct than might be offered in a museum, or even a book.
