Caleb Kincaid only planned on having a night on the town—playing poker. Ma never liked him gambling, and he was starting to understand why. Especially when he ends up winning a hand that will change his life.

Naomi Hudson had hoped to become a mail order bride in order to get away from having to care for her family—namely her pa and two older brothers. But one night when Pa is drunk, he gambles away her hand in marriage. It seems that even an older fiancé isn’t totally interested in her, since he soon loses her to someone else. Doesn’t anyone want to marry her for who she is? Can Naomi find it in her heart to care for a man out of love, especially when he needs her most?

HE WON MY HAND IN MARRIAGE
Another delightful mail order bride story, this time with Caleb Kincaid. Naomi Hudson is spunky and described as a spit-fire. One thing about the Kincaid men, all their mail order brides have unique stories behind them. This story is cute with twist and turns but also caring and compassion. The dialogue was witty and humorous. Remember, "Till death do us part doesn't always mean old age!" Even though this is part of a series, it reads just fine as a standalone story. Caleb's Bride is just as delightful as Jessie's Bride and Montana's Bride in the Mail Order Brides series of short stories. I absolutely love this latest one in the series. It is a feel good happy story and can be read in a very short time. The characters mesh well and the heroes are honorable and upstanding. I highly recommend this to all ages. An extrmely clean read. I love these books for a quick read that entertains and leaves me smiling. Although they do leave me wanting more, as I enjoy them so much. Caleb finds himself in an undesirable situation and shows the type of man he is in the solution. Enjoyable.

This is the third book in a series of five stories about the Kincaid sons and mother.  With so few pages in the story, it is hard to develop characters well enough for the reader to understand the motivation.  What I'm specifically speaking about is the sudden marriage between  Caleb and Naomi.  Also, the Kincaid's giving a home to the bride's family is getting trite.

This one was better than the previous book. Tbh, not sure why I keep reading this series. They’re all ridiculously simple, not historically accurate at all and too short to have any depth. But they’re fun (in not a good way) and since I’m snowed in, they kill a quick hour.

Fun Romance

This quick read about making choices that lead to unexpected results was a fun story and heartwarming. Caleb won the poker game in more ways than one.

"Caleb's Bride" by Susette Williams is the third novelette in the (Mail Order Brides series:). I have really enjoyed all four of these novelettes. They are complete and can be read while waiting in a dr's office or when a person wants to escape reality for a short period of time! I love how they all connect to each other! After reading these stories I have changed my mind on mail order brides. I used to think how can people really find happiness by marrying someone they don't know but at least you really don't have ideals about your spouse that doesn't measure up to your ideal of what they are really like!

Caleb only wanted a night of fun but got more than he gambled for! Not only did he get a wife, he had to spend his wedding night in the hospital! Why, you ask I cannot tell you that as that would be a spoiler alert but I know you want to know why. So do yourself a favor and get these four stories and make sure to read them in order.

The only thing I dislike about these novelettes and others are even if the stories are complete, they leave you wanting more but then doesn't really good full length novels? But if Susette Williams reads this review I am hoping she is thinking about adding stories to this series so we can read about the brother's offspring!

I am giving "Caleb's Bride" five stars. I was given a pfd file by the author for a honest review!

I listened to the Audible audio version of this book.

"I Love The Mail Order Bride Series"

CALEB'S BRIDE was another great story in the MAIL ORDER BRIDE series. These are relaxing, fun western stories that back in the 1800's, men actually did send or write for potential brides to come west for lack of women in this part of the US. They aren't too long and they're in order. In this story Caleb is Marshall's brother from book 4. I really like Naomi whose father puts her up in a poker game with Caleb and loses. I could picture this actually happening.

Another good one from SUSETTE WILLIAMS!

LAWRENCE D. YAKIN does another terrific job with the narration. he's perfect in these stories. He makes them sound like they should. I really enjoy listening to him with his western style.

Short and sweet story.

What happens when a bride is thrown into the betting pot? Naomi finds herself with a new younger fiancé.

Caleb shouldn't be in town gambling but his brothers are married and he's bored. Nobody to hang out with but the other single men in town who are also in the mood to gamble. When Caleb has a winning hand, he doesn't want to fold just because a woman has been thrown into the pot. But he can't convince her old finance to take her back, so he's got to figure some other way out of the mess he's gotten himself in to.

Naomi can't believe her father gambled her off, and now her fiancé has done the same thing, Only this time she's getting someone much closer to her age, and he's not so hard on the eyes either. Fun, clean story.

The Mail Order Bride series continues with Caleb, another Kinkaid brother really not looking for marriage. He wins his fiance in a poker game and now doesn't know what to do to get out of it. He turns to his sheriff brother, Marshall for advice. While this is happening, Caleb learns the circumstances of Naomi's arranged marriage and smitten with her decides the best thing to do of course is marry her! She is full of spit and vinegar, a fun woman to get to know. Susette Williams has another winner.

Again, Lawrence Yaklin provides us with a wonderful rendition of the book, very enjoyable.

Caleb's bride

This book is so good, read it in one sitting. It is a short story but very good one. Caleb and Jacob were gambling and Jacob bet his mail order bride. Of course, Caleb ends up winning. Naomi doesn't really want to marry Jacob anyway but is trying to get away from her family. I really enjoyed this book, love the humor in the book. This story is the third in the series. Again, Ms. Williams packs a great story into a few pages. I enjoyed Caleb's story just as much as the other two. This was a great short read and I am looking forward to reading Marshall's story next. I would definitely recommend this book and this series.

Caleb wins his bride in a poker hand. I loved the idea, and found the beginning pages quite humorous. Once again....too short for any real development. When you can read the story in 15 min. you really don't get much substance. That's unfortunate because this had the makings of a really good story but it ended up being rushed and just okay.

When Naomi's hand in marriage is sold in a bet she is determined to move forward. But will this Kincaid brother want to help her? I also enjoyed this third installment of the Kincaid brothers series. And I enjoyed hearing about the already married brothers as well.

Caleb was gambling even though he knew he shouldn't be...then he has the hand that will surely win everything. Does he win more than he really truly thought he was ready for?! Very cute short story that has sweet ending.

Mail Order Brides Cable's Bride

I liked your story, however it was too short to read. I find that novelists are to short to read, just as you get into them, there is no more.
