The book was not terrible. But I gave it two stars for two reasons: 1 star because the title was grossly misleading. When I pick up a book that reads, “Siamese Cats,” and it has a picture of one on the cover, I assume that the book will be just about that: Siamese Cats! If my memory serves me right, there were 3, maybe 4 pages about the actual Siamese Cat. The rest was about caring for, breeding, first aid etc for cats in general. Albeit, there were pictures of Siamese all throughout the book. 1 more star I threw in because the book was pretty good if it wasn’t titled as such.
If you want a book to teach you how to care for an indoor cat, go ahead and get this one. But if you happen to be an owner of a Siamese cat and want to learn more about the history and breed of the cat, I would keep looking. I didn’t want a magazine article amount of information on Siamese Cats, I wanted a book on it.
I did enjoy the format, texture, and photos of the book as they had quite a retro feel which was fun.
It gets a 5 star for having pictures of Siamese, which I adore. That alone is good enough for me.
However, it gets a 1 star for the actual information provided. Most of the information was generic for any cat. There wasn't as much as I wanted that was specific to the breed. And why have a chapter about breeding? Like any reputable breeder would read a pet shop book to get tips on breeding their Siamese cat...
But I love kitties, so that makes up for it all...
Typical of those thin hardcover books on specific animals they always sell at pet stores, this was pretty much useless. Nothing here that wasn't covered in 10x more depth by Cats for Dummies, though the pictures were admittedly pretty.
I'm Finished with my book. It gave me a lot of information about Siamese Cats. My book was very informing and I highly recommend this book for people with a Siamese Cat.
