The O'Reilly Function: A Short Study on Propaganda and Talking Heads

Rate this book
This essay is an examination of the manipulative techniques peculiar to our modern day media outlets, which we usually experience through the medium of "pundits" or "talking heads." Around these men cults are formed, and no opinion is allowed to surface that has not been blessed by these priests of the party line. To explore the power of these figures over the American mind, this essay focuses on one such persona, not because he is unique but because he exemplifies the type and best illustrates its function and influence. The purpose of this essay is not merely to critique but to empower. The fact that it is not exactly flattering to its subject is an unfortunate but unavoidable result.
