Alex Tempera is the alter ego of author Amy Shannon. In the quest for a new genre, Amy transformed into Alex to create a new depth of erotica and romance novels. The beauty of a well written erotica novel is that is contains a thoughtful and romantic storyline as well as beautifully written intimate scenes. Alex’s research into erotica genres and BDSM play and the lifestyle will continue to enter into her stories. Alex's stories do not just revolve around romance sex, but there is always some form of conflict that allows the lovers to realize that they are meant for each other.
Two stars is too good for this book. I kept reading and reading hoping it was ever going to get better... it did not. The author's writing style was stilted and awkward, the characters were completely two dimensional and I never liked either of them. They were constantly drinking... beer, wine, whiskey; writing about the gathering, pouring and drinking the alcohol took up a good portion of the book.
I really hate to write a bad review, and it would have been nice to see the book evolve into something I could finish but after half way through I had to give up and read something good.
One of my favorite tropes- discovering you are gay. Right up there with gay for you. Which this could *almost* be called.
Roman thought he liked women, but he never forgot the mysterious guy who was drawn to his painting.
Julian was out and proud for as long as he could remember. But being burned in the past has lead him to a love em and leave em way of life.
Roman and Julian meet again and although Roman is ready to jump right in to a relationship, Julian makes him wait. What ensues really is a romancing of each by the other. Discovering their true selves and opening their hearts.
While I did absolutely enjoy this book- I do love a good story and romance to go along with the sex- my only complaint is that I think it could have been longer. There easily could have been more story in the story, if that makes sense.
This was romantic, funny, engaging and sweet. The chemistry between Julian and Roman had just the right sizzle and pop. I loved the 80's references, the decor and music. Secondary characters added the right touch to their romance. I giggled and cried, it was a genuinely romantic story. Very well written and paced. A great story!!
Just couldn't put this down until I finished it and now that I have I still want more, Roman and Julian really pull you into the story and into their world as they work through their feelings for each other. I really enjoyed this book and I look forward to more from this author.
This one wasn't for me. I didn't connect with, understand or like the characters. I didn't feel or buy into their attraction to each other, there wasn't any chemistry and almost no connection between the them. The plot, what there was of one, was mundane and unbelievable. It's like the author ran out of story for Julian and a Roman so started introducing random things. Julian's fathers the crash, the thing with Tom and the homeless guy...it was all a bit desperate. The writing was often muddled and confusing. As far as GFY stories go, this one was severely lacking.
This was a great read extremely sweet and lovable characters . Great story line very well written I didn't want it to end and when it did I was all smiles ..... This is the first book I have read of Alex and will certainly read her other books. Written as Pat Jay
