Project StrikeForce #2

The Chimera Strain

Rate this book
John Frist was a soldier, a hero, and the victim of an IED attack in Iraq before his discharge. He returned home and committed a terrible act of domestic terrorism. Transformed by the StrikeForce technology, he saved New York City from a dirty bomb and nearly died in the process. For him, the ensuing two years has been a bone-wearying series of battles to protect the United States.

Eric Wise has risen from Director of Project StrikeForce to Assistant Director of the Office of Threat Management. Tasked with preventing the end of the world, he protects John while directing the OTM against a vast sea of threats.

The Office of Threat Management still watches over the world and the StrikeForce technology gives John an amazing edge, but will it be enough to prevent a man bent on attacking the United States and reducing it to a third-world power?

The Chimera Strain
Project StrikeForce, Book 2
By: Kevin Lee Swaim
Narrated by: Patrick Freeman
This is an audible book I requested and the review is voluntary.
This continues John's story as he was rebuilt into more than a man and used as a weapon. He was wiped of his memories but they came back. If the government knew, they would kill him. Only one man shares that secret. This book takes the team on another dangerous mission and John must once again use his skills and Eric protects John's secret and tries to keep the powers that be from killing the world. Lots of great action, fights, and secrets. Love this series!
The narrator is top notch! Keeps the pace going the way it should and the emotions ready to go!

Excellent writing! Fast paced and fun to read.

I recommend this book and the previous in the series. I’m surprised a movie has not been made from this book…
Buy it and enjoy!

I found this author in a chat room, and I am so glad I did. He is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors--ever.

The Chimera Strain is the second book of the Project Strikeforce Series, a suspenseful, action packed technological military thriller. In a Jack Bauer of 24 meets Robocop scenario, the reader just never knows what to expect. A soldier is "improved" with superhuman capabilities by the government and used in a covert way--just in case something goes wrong and they need to kill him without anyone knowing. Plausible deniability at it's best. The President of the US is put in a tricky political position, mimicking real life scenarios. Some claim he is too liberal, and others hate him for not pulling out of Iraq. A terrorist threat/event puts him in a precarious situation---how will the world react? in the meantime, US forces search, trying to figure out just WHO the enemy is. This story bounces around the globe, showing the inter workings and behind the scenes actions of terrorists and those who combat them.

Another excellently planned, well searched thriller! Swaim's character development and style keep you wanting more. I quite enjoy the one-liners of wit and sarcasm which as depth to the characters. Thank you, Mr. Swaim.... keep 'em coming!

Super soldier strikes again. the second in this series and it does not fail to provide even .
more exciting adventures and uses of all the amazing techno/genome aspects of his abity to be anywhere and do anything that is needed to protect the USA and in the event something goes wrong, since this soldier that was turned into super soldier was "tried, convicted and put to.death for his crimes" no one will be looking for him if he disappears. In this book. His exposure is.becoming more obvious and being questioned by other governments as to who or what he/it is so each new assignment has you on edge of seat wondering will he pull it.off and remain safe asset for the USA or will those in charge of covert ops decide he has now become a liability and must be destroyed. Only one way to find out the answer, so what are you waiting for? Pick up.this awesome novel and find out for.yourself. As for.me, I'm off to see what other books he has waiting for.me.to read.

Chimera Strain is book two in the Project Strikeforce series following the Office of Threat Management and their super soldier as the team track down and defeat major threats against the USA. Like book one in the series it is an enjoyable piece of fiction, the fact the threats and actions of the team are way out there past what could be considered believable doesn’t in my opinion detract from the enjoyment of the book. It makes no attempt to pitch itself as a real world story it is simply a good adventurous, action packed thriller to while away the hours of a long train commute.

A very good book.

I enjoyed the storyline. It has lots of interesting matter, with something for everyone. High-tech, computer hackers, a little sex and some bad ass spies. I am looking forward to more of this author's writing.

I didn't care for the ending, but overall the 2nd book was as good as the first. On to book 3.

Excellent Thriller

Mr Swaim writes a good action thriller; just enough background to explain the action but he doesn't let it get in the way of some
fantastic shoot em up action. His protagonist is very relatable even though he started out as a totally disgusting villian. Mr. Swaim weaves the thinking, beliefs and actions of a diverse group of characters into a coherent group. (Does EVERYBODY knows John's secret? )
Spend your money and time on an adult, modern action group story.

Cholera indeed.

5 stars because they are warranted! Equally as good as the first book, well done Kevin! All too often plotlines tend to blur towards the end of the novel, yours didn't.

Very good book!!!!!

Lost a lot of sleep reading this book. I thoroughly enjoyed this story. The Chinese and the Russians figure prominently in this story with stops in Somalia and North Korea. John is having lots of problems, Eric is doing his best for John but who knows how much he can help as the medical procedures are killing John. Such a good storyline, Thanks, Amarillo Turtle
