Spy. Liar. Scoundrel. Redcoat. Provocateur and spy for His Majesty, Captain John Carlisle returns to Fort Niagara with the secrets he learned in the arms of his lover, Dellis McKesson. Determined to complete his mission and clear his name, John will see justice done—and damn the consequences. Now, he finds himself drawn into political intrigue as the British prepare to launch a three-pronged attack that will bring the Rebels and the Mohawk River Valley to its knees. Meanwhile, a dangerous revelation finds Dellis as whispers of intrigue insinuate her beloved is not all that he seems. Unwilling to wait for John’s return, she sets out in search of the truth as the Onieda begin negotiations with the Rebels, breaking the neutrality agreement with the crown. A bold move that will stoke a fire between the brother tribes and lead to a bloody inter-confederacy war—one Dellis predicted, and John incited. The punishing winter of 1777 brings the war between the colonies and the British to a standstill, creating the perfect opportunity for old enemies to settle scores, both lying in wait, ready to exploit John’s one weakness—his heart. And John is not an innocent man. His time of reckoning has finally come; the truth he’s tried to run from can no longer be ignored, ghosts from the past seeking justice, and karma demanding payment for sins so dark they cannot be forgiven.

T.J. London is a rebel, liberal, lover, fighter, diehard punk, and pharmacist-turned-author who loves history. As an author her goal is to fill in the gaps, writing stories about missing history, those little places that are so interesting yet sadly forgotten. Her favorite time periods to write in are first and foremost the American Revolutionary War, the French Revolution, the French and Indian War, the Russian Revolution and the Victorian Era. Her passions are traveling, writing, reading, barre, and sharing a glass of wine with her friends, while she collects experiences in this drama called life. She is a native of Metropolitan Detroit (but secretly dreams of being a Londoner) and resides there with her husband Fred and her beloved cat and writing partner Mickey.
The Traitor is the second audiobook (re-recorded new edition) in TJ London’s amazing historical romance series, The Rebels and Redcoats Saga. Set in the winter of 1977 during the Revolutionary War, this book picks right up where book one left off following the return of British Captain John Carlisle to the Mohawk River Valley in his bid to serve his country, clear his name, and claim his love. But can all three be accomplished at the same time without sacrificing one for the other? As usual for John, he seems to be working at dual purposes. But which will he prioritize—his duty or his heart? Can he really serve his country as commanded and still win the love and trust of Dellis, his strong, independent, and proud half-Oneida lover—especially when she learns the shameful truth about his past? TJ London expertly provides us the answers as she chronicles this couple’s enthralling journey and much more in this fascinating and compelling audiobook.
I am honestly not typically a fan of historical romance, but there is nothing typical about this series. This story and these characters are so well written that you can’t help but become invested. The backdrop of the Revolutionary War—specifically the little-known role the tribes of the Iroquois Nation played—is absolutely fascinating to me. And experiencing this through the eyes of John and Dellis really brings a more personal and fresh perspective to the story. You truly feel every emotion these characters go through in this high-stakes drama.
It’s performed in duet-style narration with a full cast consisting of Christopher Tester, Tara Langella, Patrick Zeller, Kit Swann, Curtis Michael Holland, William Madison, Lucas Webley, Shayna Small, Nicholas Boulton, and Adam Gold. And let me tell you, their performances are so riveting, it will bring you to your knees. The intense emotion and passion they bring to their performances makes this story and these characters feel so incredibly real. There were a few scenes that legitimately tore my heart out. And I loved every minute of it! This audiobook is 21 hours and 12 minutes of pure romance audio perfection! And I still wanted more at the end of it. I cannot wait to hear how the story progresses in the next audiobook in the series, The Turncoat.
I received an ALC of this book; all opinions are my own.
5 ⭐️ 3 🌶
If you are looking to get lost in a beautifully written historical romance set in 1777 Fort Niagara during the America Revolutionary War time period this audiobook is for you. This is book 2 and a continuation of Captain John Carlisle, a British Red Coat and Dellis McKesson, an Oneida innkeepers, love story.
The narrators really did amazing voice performances. Between the narrators and the author I felt as if I were transported to that time, it felt so authentic and immersive. This story had me on an emotional roller coaster, I was laughing and crying with this story.
Be prepared for an ending that will leave you needing book 3 asap.
This audiobook gave strong Outlander vibes, same time period, different continent.
Please check the trigger warnings, this one may hit hard.
✩°。⋆⸜ 🔥🎧✮ Audiobook Review! ✩°。⋆⸜ 🔥🎧✮ This is the second edition of the second installment in the Rebels and the Redcoats saga, an outstanding historical romance. I had already listened to the first edition and loved it, but this new version exceeded my expectations. John and Dellis’s journey picks up where the first book left off, and it continues to captivate. This fast-paced and emotionally charged installment offers a complex and immersive plot, full of suspense, danger, and unexpected twists. The world building is fascinating. The narration, performed by a full cast, is exceptional and provides a dynamic and engaging listening experience. The audio quality is perfect. I highly recommend this book and the entire series. I can't wait to dive into the next book in this exciting saga.
This story takes you to the year 1777. A great historical romance where you can the emotions between the characters throughout the story. It draws you right in and to me it feels like you’re even a small part of it. You can even feel the chemistry between the characters in the book. The book is written perfectly and the narrators have told the story perfectly.
This book is perfect for fans of Outlander by Diana Gabaldon.
I have read this entire saga, and I loved every bit of it.
Then TJ London updated books 1 & 2 AND updated their audio to a full multicast experience.
Everything I loved about this book was just elevated. Not only is the audio such an immersive experience, but the story itself has been expanded quite a bit.
The joys and sorrows are higher and lower. Dellis' heartache is gutwrenching. Even knowing what is coming next in future books I felt the despair in the words.
I also still do NOT like Celeste. Yet she is a really good villain. Delancie, he is one cruel SOB, and he is written so very well. But that Alexi.. now I'm conflicted because in these early works he was my villain.. but I get ahead of the story. Just know, you will love to hate Alexi, until you don't hate him anymore.
The heart of this story is John and Dellis, even in this expanded version you're going to want more of them!
Wow, what can we say about this remake? There was action, suspense, and humor with many different voice overs for each character. Yeah, our kind of audiobooks!!!!
The characters were amazing!! we enjoyed getting to know each of the characters all over again. It was like we were flies on the wall. Watching everything come to mind in our heads.
The storyline was very well written and can we say, "so much better that the first addition"‽ We were reeled in hook, line and sinker from beginning to end.
The narrators.....we can't say enough about how these narrators brought the characters alive. We could picture in our minds the voices that went to each character.
