An important book worth reading!

Nightmare in Holmes County: A Terrifying True Story is exactly what the title promises—an unsettling, emotionally charged account of real-life horror set against the backdrop of a quiet Amish community. This book pulls you into a world most people imagine as peaceful and insulated, only to reveal deep shadows lurking beneath the surface.

The storytelling is genuine, capturing the fear, confusion, and isolation experienced by the author. There’s a chilling sense of immediacy throughout; you don’t just read this story—you feel it. The suspense builds steadily, and the insider perspective on Amish life adds a layer of cultural mystery that makes the book even more compelling. It’s not just a tale of terror, but also one of resilience and the human spirit’s instinctive will to survive.

Overall, Nightmare in Holmes County is gripping, unsettling, and memorable. It shines a light where most people never think to look, offering a real-world cautionary tale that stays with you long after the final page. A solid 4.5-star true-crime read for fans of raw, personal storytelling and dark hidden truths.

Note: It's not true horror of the Stephen King kind where you're too afraid to read it at night so don't worry there!

I was expecting and wanted a haunted house story which was full of suspense and tension BUT it was devoid of both.

What the reader gets instead is a religious sermon and an attack on the Amish.

Very disappointing.

Waste of time

If you ask me, the author known as pat has some serious psychological issues. He thinks that if something goes wrong it's always demons. It's always the Amish making his life horrible. His wife left him because he thought she was possessed with demons and she realized she had to get out of the relationship. He was seeing shadows and his eye doctor ruled out stroke and other things. So his eye dr said it had to be demons. When PayPal had issues with payment for his on line music store it was because he was cursed and u guessed it... demons. Yea this book was awful and I will never read anymore from this guy. What a joke.

This guy is an absolute wacko.

I can't believe this guy thinks he is a Christian. This attitude is exactly why I don't go to churches. He is such a holier than thou jerk anybody would be turned off. And I doubt this is all demonic activity since he thinks everything is malevolent. Dude maybe your just a duck and that's why you're wife left you

A must read and re-read!

I love how Patrick includes scripture to back up his experiences and his fight through this nightmare. I recommend this book for those who may be going through the same ordeal, or just want a good scary story. God bless you Patrick and your incredible faith!

Good read

Interesting, scary and honest story of a Christian man facing evil. I appreciated his candor in sharing his story. Worth the time.

I appreciate Patrick's time & courage put towards helping others under Christ and in spiritual warfare. These events do happen, they are real, the curses and darkness we fight do spiritually exist, and we fight back under Christ, breaking demonic legal rights under confidence, repentance, and obedience. I back up what he lucidly and honestly declares. Been there myself, done the same things and seen same evident results several times. Lots of testimonies out there confirm what scripture & Patrick proclaim. Well done, brother, this is worthy info in the name of Jesus. Thank you!

Wow

I believe that most if not all paranormal activity is directly caused by demons. This was an eye opening look into the world of the occult and how it effects our lives. That Brother Meechan for sharing your horrifying encounter with this world. Praise God that we don't have to fear that world. We have complete authority over the demonic through the blood of Jesus Christ.

Entertaining, Interesting & Informative

Very entertaining plus informative. I too have experienced paranormal but mostly benign. I agree with most of what Meechan writes but not all. Only reason for 4 stars is because of several typos. Other than that its a very good read.

Very Interesting Read

Loaded with many interesting experiences from the author. Not sure how I feel about how he could find a link between every single thing and demons, but what do I know? He is believable though. Very interesting.

A great read

Sometimes a true store is better than fiction. If you want to get to know how devious people can be read this book .it will make you realize what a great God we serve and his timing is always perfect.

Unremarkable Book

As in his previous book, this author misleads the reader so he can proselyte his religious beliefs under the guise " paranormal incidents." Not worth the time or money.

LIES. From the cover to the end.
This is NOT a true story.
I live in the area and I know some of the people. This is a complete and total farce.
I'm sorry you didn't have a great time Patrick, but you've completely blown this one up.
