Haven Edwards is a 21st century diva with an "exotic" career. Wanting nothing more than to move past her ugly divorce, she attends an adults only Carnal-val where she’s compelled to steal a strangely glowing pocket watch. Overcome with its power, she winds it. A portal opens beneath her feet, hurtling her back through time to 1817 where she crashes into the life of the very proper, very sexy, Logan Dunham.
...meets a 19th century duke....
Haven is determined to find a way home, but she can’t shake her hunger for the dark, brooding duke. He's a duke, he's out of her league, right? So why does her heart beat a little faster whenever he is near? Why does her mind conjure images of happily ever after? One touch, and they are consumed by their desire.
But before they can untangle their feelings for one another, a sociopath with a god complex and a knife fetish sets his evil intents on Haven. In order to save her life, Logan must destroy the demons of his past, and learn to trust a power he doesn't understand.
...the sparks fly, tempers and passions flare, and two souls touch across time.
The Diva is a time-travel, paranormal, Regency suspense filled to the brim with spicy wit, fiery romance, hot sex, humor, and a villain you have to read to believe.

Eve Black is the sexy contemporary romance-loving alter-ego of a sweet historical romance author...who also writes dark, sexy medieval romance under another name. Eve is one of several personalities in one crazy package. When Eve isn't writing books, she is editing other people's books, freelance writing marketing content, or wrangling her children. For fun, Eve loves to read (obviously) sexy contemporary and historical romance books, binge-watch old Supernatural, Burn Notice, Leverage, and Lucifer episodes on Netflix, and play mind-numbing games on her tablet.
Eve lives in an untidy house on a little over an acre in rural Northeast Pennsylvania with her husband of 17 years and their four children, three cats, and one chicken.
I was kind of wary of an Eve Black book that wasn't her usual contemporary goodness, but....
I was SHOCKED by how much I enjoyed this time-travel romance. The heroine, Haven, is sassy, smart, strong, yet vulnerable and desperate to be genuinely loved. She didn't fall apart after she was dropped in Regency England--she took to her new circumstances without stumbling, and I think she was practical and intelligent. Her thoughts on the food, the clothing, and the differences between 2025 and 1817 were hilarious and TOTALLY something I would think about.
The hero, Logan...ummm.... He was the perfect dark, broody, wounded but desperate for love nobleman we all lick our lips over. He has a tragic past that makes trusting women difficult for him--and then life drops a 21st century woman in his lap.... Lawd but the chemistry is HAWT.
Not for the first time Eve Black's villain made my skin crawl. She is the absolute GOAT of writing bad guys that literally make me shudder. Angelous Kroger was so freaking nasty that I barely kept my dinner down once he got to work on Haven in THAT scene.
Also...did Eve HAVE to make me WEEP? SERIOUSLY! I was NOT expecting that!
All in all, this was one hellava ride. I certainly hope there are more stories like this one coming soon!
I am not a fan of time travel romance books, but I've decided to give it a go because the author is Eve Black. Although this book was different from her other books I've read, that doesn't make it less interesting. This was an amazing, fun read with the great character development. It was not an angst read (and I love good ol' angst), but it kept my attention from the beginning until the end. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I love Eve Black and her books. This was a different read from her other books for me. This was my first Time Traveling book even though I have watched some movies about it. It was a great read. The characters were well written and the chemistry was hot! I loved the overall concept of the story. I will definitely be doing a reread.
I love Eve Black and receive this book as an ARC. This book isn’t a genre I normally choose but I read everything Eve Black writes. I was immediately drawn in and I love Haven and Logan. This book gets dark so definitely read the trigger warnings.
