“I want you, Dale. The hell with tonight or tomorrow or next week. Right now, I want you.”
yeaaaa here’s to going after what you want!!! in the short amount of time i grew to really like the characters, i definitely plan on continuing this novella series.
Well-done contemporary western romance that's the first in a three-part serial novel. Had I known this when I started the book, I would not have done so. I don't like ploys by publishers or authors to read the first book for free, and then leave you hanging. It's sort of like getting that really nice manual shaver at a good price, and then paying extortion prices for the replacement blades.
I did like the story, however, about a high school sweethearts who reunite at a dude ranch when Kristen, who ran away to the big city in pursuit of her dreams, comes back for a vacation. For a third of a book, it was nicely done.
So many years have past and you run into your high school sweetheart. You were just laid off from the job you adored and your nest friend asks you to go on a vacation. You go to a dude ranch for a working vacation and he owns the dude ramch
This "piece of the" story was pretty good. I like the characters and how the story progresses. Definitely something I would have liked to have finished, but.... This is part 1 or 3. When I got it from the Kindle store (free so no complaints there) I was under the impression it was a full quickie (the entire story as a quick read). That is not the case, so I will go look at the other 2 parts and if they aren't free also I will not be continuing the story. I hate (and I don't use that word lightly) these bait books that you have to buy multiple sections to get the full story....this is not a series book!
Krissy left Texas right after high school and never looked back. Working for a marketing campaign her friend wanted to go to a ranch for a week but Krissy refused she didn't want to loose her job, but when she gets laid off she calls her friend up and says still want to go??? When they get to Texas and the slanted P ranch she's sure she isn't going to see anyone she knows till the owner Dale Prescott comes out and all memories of her first love come back. Need to read great story line... going to next installment. woot woot
This is a quick read maybe an hour an half but it's also a 3 parter. I would have preferred it to be 1 book with them being so small but never mind.
This story is a second chance for high school sweethearts that have not seen each other for over a decade but can old feelings still be alive? Can they both get over there own version of the events that let them to drift apart in the first place?
This is the first part in a book that gives installments. So I needed to promise my self not to do this. I have before it is expensive and annoyingly addictive lol. this part of the story was quick and pretty good. I sort of wish it wasn't the type of book that it is bc I would continue. Sexy story. Dale is one sexy rancher.
Aaahhh!! I need more!!! I really liked Dale. His love for Kristin was obvious. I think she was scared of how she felt. I guess she will have to face her fears now. I don't think he is going to let her go this time. Looking forward to the next book.
High school, college then a chance meeting. When answer leave you asking " what if?" at all the angles. The decisions made so long ago may just be the answers they're looking for and trying to find. Story was a little short but really enjoyed.
This book was alright, but didn't really get too interesting. The characters were plain and uninteresting and had little personality. The book ended mid-story, meaning you have to buy the next book to find out what really happened. Seems like a cop-out to sell more copies...
Very good storyline, flowed well and kept me entertained right up till the cliffhanger ending. Apparently their is two more books. 😡😡. Really hate it when a story is broken up like this!
Don’t start reading this book if you want a happy ending; or a sad ending or any kind of ending! Because it just quits! And leaves you with no ending at what should be a third of the book! Don’t waste your time!
Kristen was working a high paid, but stressful job as a media agent. Her best friend convinced her to take time away to go to a Dude ranch. Off course, there becomes a man involved, which makes a very interesting tale. Be warned: it's a 3 part serialized read.
This review is of “Loving the Rancher” by Julie Allen.
The Story: The book centers around Kristin Jenkins, a woman who, at the beginning of the book, worked in PR and Marketing for Morrow-Waves Marketing. I use the past tense because by the end of the first chapter, Kristin is no longer working for the company; she was laid off.
To deal with her frustration and clear her mind, Kristin and her BFF, LeAnn Hardwick, go on vacation to a working dude ranch in San Antonio, Texas. Unfortunately, Kristin recognizes their host, Dale Prescott, whom she has a past with. They reconnect, and later, during a thunderstorm, Kristin and Dale make love.
Upside: Kristin and Dale are strong enough characters to have made this a longer story.
Downside: The book is a novella, it ends on a cliffhanger.
Sex: One love scene, which, while decent, would hardly classify as “steamy” by my standards.
Violence: None.
Bottom Line: This is one of Ms. Allen’s better novellas, which admittedly isn’t a particularly high mountain to climb.
The novella had a nice setup it. I'm not a fan of cliff hangers so the ending was anticlimactic. The story was definitely more foundational. Where it set the scene for the next installments. I think Lee Ann and Kristen are complimentary friends. Dale having been the surprise. I will not be purchasing the remaining stories I am a fan of novellas being completely developed and not left wondering what is next. The author has a good plot she is developing just wish it was one book.
Great cowboy read. Kristin being raised on a ranch what'd more the Big CIty. the Big City treated her good till one day it all falls away from and unexpected problem. Her bestie gets her to go Nina Vacation and when she gets to this Dude Ranch Her old Hugh school boyfriend is the owner. Can and Will they reconnect or will the misunderstanding reasons of their so call break up is from and venter.
After years of separation, Dale and Kristin met each other again by accident. He owned a Dude Ranch and Kristin went there for a vacation. She had just lost a job. After she arrived, she began to realize that she missed the Texas country living of her childhood. They were caught in a rain storm and found shelter in an old barn. The sparks ignited again and they made love. I liked this story.
Dale is the perfect gentleman, and a hot cowboy too. Kristen knew Dale in high school, but people change and drift apart. Kristen is a workaholic and never lives life. Dale runs a ranch, but reuniting after all these years with the one you love changes things. I can't wait to find out how this series ends.
Great story. The characters immediately connected with you and the lay out was so relevant to today's issues. I loved how their attraction was ignited. Sensual and alluring. Hope there's a HEA to the story.
