ABOUT APRIL

April Floyd is an author born and raised in St. Louis and an exciting literary voice in the world of Erotica, dedicating each of her novels to those who want books they can’t put down. She consciously chose not to drag the reader through monotonous descriptions. As you turn the pages, you will find yourself in your favorite chair with a warm blanket, enjoying her unfolding stories.

Floyd's genre appreciation goes beyond Erotica—fused with Paranormal, Drama, Horror, Suspense, Spirituality, Action, Romance, Magical Realism, and much more. Her style of writing crosses the conventional boundaries of one genre. Floyd's primary objective is to tell stories that are dear to her heart, causing her to be more passionate about her characters as they develop.

Floyd attended Nipher Middle School when she discovered her passion for writing early. Floyd attended Kirkwood High School, and it was there that she enjoyed every writing assignment. She began writing her first novel, The Look of Love. It was finished in 2005 but was destroyed when a storm struck her home while her computer was plugged in. She was devastated, and she stopped writing altogether.  It wasn’t until she met her husband, photographer, and scriptwriter, Eddie Floyd Jr. who encouraged her to write again. As newer devices and technologies developed her husband explained everything about the proper ways of saving her work and showed her several ways to do it, with flash drives, emails, and external hard drives, and encouraged her to write again. In 2008, she began the quest of writing and attending Forest Park Community College. Her trilogies of Unique were born. Her children, Malissa, Terry, and Walter, Jr., are her inspiration for writing Unique. Her husband, Eddie Floyd Jr., was her inspiration for writing again.

Floyd started writing as a blogger for OnStL.com in 2013, promoting her hometown St. Louis.

Floyd’s trilogies of Unique novels were published in February 2014 and since has held it’s five-star ratings. Her books are a page-turning reflection of her passions; of issues and situations that are dear to her heart. The Unique stories entertain, educate, touch and inspire its readers. The stories are brimming with family drama—and values—love, devastation, loss, redemption, faith, comedy, suspense and a touch of erotica.
Mrs. Floyd published her latest novel, THE LINK—November 2017. The concept of Christ, Christmas, and Santa Claus are Linked in a world of Magical Realism has taken hold of new readers who were looking for a new and different perspective of all three.

I had to read this book repeatedly and each time I found myself engulfed into the story as if, I had never read it. It was like watching my favorite movie constantly. Unique is so entertaining and unlike anything I have read. It's one you won't be able to put down after getting into it.

Many have read Unique and here are some of the reviews.
I saw myself in this book and felt like it was about me. Victoria is truly a character that I've met before. I was wowed throughout the entire book, but the end shocked the hell out of me! April Floyd's book made me look at things differently and I cried so hard at one point. Unique was sweet. Victoria was a bitch. Ben was every girls dream. I can't wait to read another book by April Floyd. Will there be another part to Unique? I sure hope so.

Powerful. Must-read. This is a book about the strength of family. It is about the power of one family to stand strong in the face of struggles with disability, low expectations, addiction, violence, and grief. Amidst so much hardship, something solid and enduring and radically welcoming is forged from something immensely dissolute and pain-filled, seemingly alchemically. Unique will restore your faith in the notion that ripples of self-love, support of family and neighbors, and steady efforts for hard-earned love can change an entire community and region for the better.

I wish the book would end at the part that Unique had her big fashion show.First chapter of book includes importance of family,Unique's struggles,Her model sisters immediate character development which I found really unrealistic and after first part somehow everybody got horny and stuff.I mean at the back cover of book,it describes book as family, drama, erotica etc. anyway but Its written in a religional theme and one page before you read the strenght of God,Jesus, you will find your good way with its help etc.and at next pages people are makin out uncontrollably like theres epidemic.I am not against erotica but I found it funny and I couldnt help myself thinking what was it really necessary? To show us how people are affectionate each other due to the fact that it has an idea which is based on religion.

This book left me wanting more, but it also left me with thoughts of family and God. I asked myself after I read it, how could I love a book that talked about family values, God and the next part is entertaining but highly sexual. I came to the conclusion that all the things in this book from the beginning to the end deals with real life situations and sex and lust is part of that real life stuff. This book has left me with deeper thoughts on the things we do or the things that happen to us on our journey to God. This book is may not be mean to be one of spirituality, but it has crossed that line in the best way possible. If you read this book and see what I see then, you get it! You get the message and it's a lifetime movie coming from this... for sure!

This book is beyond good and I continued to read as I took it everywhere I went. It is a book which mimics real life. It doesn't just hit some parts of life, it hits all subjects of life, God, sex, family etc. It's a book of a young lady who triumphs over herself and circumstances. I found it realistic and to have strong characterization. Super Models in American can make over 47 million a year. The Character Victoria was a supermodel and her attitude portrayed a very ungrateful person because she had it all. I loved the book and I can't wait until someone discovers this and make the movie from it. If you are a person who doesn't read erotica, don't pick this up because the lust in this book is also real like. I hated the book had an ending.

Unique was a very inspirational person. The entire book is well written. The characters were strong and real to life. I loved that all the things going on in the book did not remove the spiritual aspect to the characters lives. Next to God, family was the best thing continued to be the quote throughout the novel. I feel this novel should be a movie because so many have lost the value of family. A very good book; in fact, it's one of the best reads ever! I recommend everyone read this novel.

This story of a young woman who overcomes disability, family dysfunction, poverty, tragedy and other obstacles grabbed my attention from the first chapter and was hard to put down. Just when you think you know what's going to happen next... you find out otherwise!

This book would make a great TV miniseries or even a daytime soap due to its plot twists and the multi-layered cast of characters, which includes Unique's blood relatives and her adoptive family, and moves from the glitz of the fashion world to the grit of the inner city, and back.

Contains some intense violence and explicit sex.

Just finished 'Unique' (parts I and II) and I can't wait for Part III. The story line is rooted in the turmoils and triumphs many families experience in a lifetime, making it very relatable and a story you want to keep reading. Floyd explores the dynamic relationships that exist amongst a large, extended family with deep and honest character development and by putting some of the uncomfortable truths a family may live in the foreground. This book is a wonderful read and I would recommend it to anyone looking to explore dramatic fiction.
