When the Time Council is alerted to the emergence of a temporal anomaly with the potential to destroy the infrastructure of the time-line, it dispatches agents from the Temporal Irregularities Commission to seek out and destroy the approaching threat. Arriving in modern day London, TIC Agents Montgomery and Drake are horrified to discover that the anomaly is actually a two year-old girl called Lexi - leaving them with an impossible choice; do they carry out their orders and destroy the anomaly preserving the integrity of Time…or do they break every rule in the TIC handbook to save her? Using a chronometric inhibitor to hide Lexi’s powers, Agent Drake defies the Time Council and chooses to remain by her side as her protector, and for twelve years his insane plan actually works. But when Drake is killed, the truth about Lexi is revealed and now the Time Order Corps will stop at nothing to destroy her, as well as anyone who gets in their way. In order to survive, Lexi must put all her faith in a man made of alabaster, a talking tree, an ingenious albatross and an angry amphibian with a score to settle. Lexi Drake is running out of Time…and into trouble!
5 star. Great story. Resolved nicely. So creative. Unusual narrator voice but it works well. I find I am always eager to return to this author, and his work is often worthy of rereading!
