Really good action filled suspense story about a search-and-rescue specialist (Heidi Warren) and her team (her brother Cade and hero Isaiah Callahan) who are sent down by helicopter to the top of an Alaskan mountaintop during freezing weather to supposedly rescue an injured hiker and instead meet dangerous thieves/criminals that hold them at gunpoint and force the rescue team to lead them to the ice fields (where the criminals are going to meet a plane, their own plane crashed). Tensions flare up when the gang leader (Zach) is attracted to Heidi and Zach's crazy girlfriend gets jealous. How will they all make it in this harsh weather and will they survive?

I thoroughly enjoyed this book! Isaiah seemed like a hothead at times who would act first and think later. But then, he had romantic feelings for Heidi and was worried for her. Heidi was a great heroine, and she was really good at her job. This book had terrific atmosphere. I loved the bleak setting, the freezing mountaintops, the endless snowstorms. And the tension between the characters, especially when the team was trying to rescue the criminals, knowing that the criminals would surely kill them after they were rescued. There wasn't too much romance in this book, since Heidi and Isaiah were in major snowstorms and had criminals watching their every move. But I didn't mind at all.

This is the first book I've read by Elizabeth Goddard and I look forward to reading more by this author.

Untraceable is the second book in the Mountain Cove series and I really enjoyed the story. I had no issues following along and liked it more than the first book.

I liked the characters and the suspense was good. I liked how much danger there was in the book, but I did feel like some of the things that happened were a bit far-fetched.

All in all, Untraceable was worth the read. I plan on reading more Goddard books in the future.

Untraceable is book two in the Mountain Cove series and can be read as a stand alone. There are common characters between the two books in the series, and there are a few references to the storyline in book one, Buried. I, personally, would read both books to get the full Mountain Cove experience.

I really liked the two main characters in Untraceable. Heidi and Isaiah are both emotionally damaged individuals trying to make it through life. Isaiah truly feels that he is doing what is best for Heidi by denying his attraction to her and stepping away from any possible relationship. Heidi has had quite a few life disappointments lately and cannot understand what went wrong between Isaiah and herself. There is wonderful romantic tension running throughout this entire story!

Another great thread of tension in Untraceable is the very real danger that the rescue team is in. Heidi, Isaiah, and Cade have been called in for a rescue and instead find themselves hostages. The life-threatening danger from the environment and from the villains of the story kept me on the edge of my seat!

The impossible situation that this search and rescue team was in just caught me up in the story right from the beginning! The romantic attraction kept me hoping that Isaiah and Heidi could not only make it out alive, but somehow work things out between them. There is also a beautiful inspirational thread in the book revolving around two people who love God, but have trouble knowing that He has been with them in every situation in their pasts, even the bad ones.

I would like to express my thanks to the author for the complimentary copy of this book that I received in exchange for an honest review.

Wow! this book had me from the very beginning. I loved the fact that the suspense began right at the very beginning of the story. It took us on so many twists and turns. I also learned some things about survival in winter in Alaska. What I loved the most was the Spiritual thread found throughout the book. Even though the characters struggled in their Spiritual walk they never took their eyes off the solution for their problems and the fact that God was with them. I cannot wait to read the next book in this series.

You know how sometimes a book just grabs your attention from the beginning and you don't want to put it down? That is exactly how I felt after starting this new book, Untraceable, by Elizabeth Goddard. I read it in roughly 2 hours, it was that enthralling.

This is the second book in a series and I would urge you to read them in order, otherwise it might be difficult trying to figure everyone out. It opens with a trio of people climbing down a mountain to rescue someone who is injured. These are the main characters in the series and include Heidi and Cade Warren who are brother and sister, but also Isaiah Callahan, the man who is hiding a secret. The only bad thing is, they all end up hostages in a crazy trek across the mountain through a blizzard, and they only know that some of them could die before it is over.

My personal favorite in this suspense filled novel would have to be Heidi. She has been burned before and is cautious when it comes to guys. Isaiah is a troubled hero who will do anything to keep Heidi from getting hurt, except that her feelings are already hurt after he befriends her and then puts up a wall. I felt a connection with Heidi as she sorts through her feelings about Isaiah but also has to prove to herself that she is a good Search and Rescue member.

This book is filled with suspense and you don't know from one minute to the next who will die, if they make it through the night, or if the people holding them hostage will kill each other. The author does an excellent job making bad guys that you really, really don't like! Zach, the head bad guy, is so creepy he made me shiver. And don't get me started on Rhea. Needless to say I only have one problem... How long til the next book!!!! A wonderfully thrilling novel!

I received a copy of this book from the author. All thoughts are 100% mine.

Survival in the Alaskan mountains….Will the Search and
Rescue team responding to a call be able to save themselves
and the criminals that need rescuing? The criminals have
their own agenda to meet a plane on the ice fields in the
opposite direction that the rescuers would take. A snow storm
is coming but the criminals with their weapons prevail.
So we are off on a life & death adventure. The weather
conditions will make the criminals & the rescue team
“ Untraceable “. What a breath taking story!!!
I looked up Devil’s Paw & Michael’s Sword on the Juneau
Ice field. This really pulled me into the story. While so beautiful
and breath taking, I could feel the wind, cold & snow
surrounding the characters as they struggled to survive.
In addition to the suspense, vivid descriptions, flavorful
characters, the story provides both romantic and spiritual
moments you will remember after reading.
This book is the second in the Mountain Cove Series. It can
be read as a stand alone.
Thanks to the author for the book. My opinion is my own.

As with all of Elizabeth Goddard books, I finished this story feeling like an expert at rappelling, hiking glaciers, and surviving in sub-zero temperatures with blizzard conditions. Her research is that good!

I liked the characters of this book. Isaiah is a great hero with brains and brawn, but he isn't perfect. His alpha nature pitted against other alphas on the trip gives him plenty of room for internal growth. And Heidi (I got tickled that the mountain girl was named Heidi! LOL!) has a strong spiritual side. She's focused on following the Lord and struggling to hear His directions.

But the intense plot is the best part of this story. There's no question about who's bad and who's good, no mystery to solve. Just the sheer suspense of a constant conflict between protags, antags, and the brutal nature that they face during an Alaskan winter. Edge of seat scary!

Wow! What another great thrill in the Mountain Cove series!
The setting is as majestic as it is deadly and the plot will keep you riveted until the very end!
As the rescue mission quickly turned into a nightmare for main characters Heidi and Isaiah, I was left in nail-biting suspense at every twist and turn. The author really pushes her characters to their limit. ..something I LOVE to see in suspense novels. Not only are they fighting to survive the environment, but they are fighting to survive the villain.
As always, I enjoy the romance in Goddard’s books…she is always spot on, creating just the right amount of tension.
This story was a wonderful reminder to me that even in the storms of life, God is with me.
Untraceable is romantic suspense at its best- dont miss this one!

I have read newer books by this author so I started checking out her older LIS Harlequin books. I love "series" books so fortunately I was able to find all of her Mountain Cove books online to read even though this is an older series (2015-2016).

This series is set in Alaska and the author did a beautiful job with the imagery of the area, along with describing the beauty and danger that can lie between the mountains.

Each book in this series has its unique story and characters but they all tied back together with some of the characters mentioned in previous books and were located in the same Mountain Cove, Alaska area.

I really enjoyed this fast paced, suspenseful, romance series and would highly recommend! I read each book in less than a day because they were so fun and easy to read.

Talk about a wild ride, this is it! As others have mentioned, this book hooks you from the very beginning! The search and rescue team gets a call to rescue some stranded hikers, only to discover that when they reach them, they are now hostages of a gang of armed bank robbers who want them to lead them to their extraction plane! Who would ever expect that?? Heidi, Isaiah and Cade are now at the mercy of a mean group of thugs who don't care about anything but getting to the "ice field" as soon as possible.....oh did I mention that there's a blizzard, several obstacles to cross, little food and a host of other challenges, not to mention that the thieves are not experienced in Alaskan wilderness climbing and such! The story enfolds with a lot of danger and tension as the rescuers are put in a no-win situation as they try to lead the thieves to the pick up point. Heidi and Isaiah are the main focus of this book. They had been getting closer in the past but Isaiah broke things off and Heidi had no idea why. Some tough things happened to Heidi after that and she is in a sad place in her life right now. Isaiah has some things in his past that he hasn't told anyone about so he feels he needs to stay away from Heidi. As they battle through this experience with the thieves, along with Cade (Heidi's brother), may things come to light and barriers are broken. The last couple chapters are intense, especially as the whole group reaches the ice field and the rescuers know they will probably be killed! Its definitely a page-turner! This is the second book in the Mountain Cove series. While you can read this as a stand-alone book, it would make more sense if you read the first book, Buried,, first! You would know the characters better!
I'm grateful I was able to receive this book to review, but all my thoughts are my own! I recommend it highly!

This book is hard to review because although I loved the suspense and tense situations throughout the book, there were times I wanted to shake the characters out of their stupidity. Even though the scenes were all located in a winter wonderland of snow and ice, the author did a good job of varying the scenes and keeping them interesting.

What I liked: The attention to details about surviving in freezing weather was enlightening and fascinating. Ms. Goddard either knows something about winter rescue and surviving in blizzard conditions or spent hours doing intensive research. The details and equipment she introduced to the reader during the situations in the book were informative and believable. I also thought the tension between the kidnappers and the rescue team made their situation volatile and kept me turning pages.

What I didn’t like: The personalities of the main characters, Heidi Warren and Isaiah Callahan, were not likable. Isaiah was hot-headed and rash. He made foolish decisions with risky confrontations that continually put the team at risk. Heidi Warren’s personality was a bit more likable, but she still acted with a judgmental attitude when she refused to forgive Isaiah for keeping his past a secret.

Over all, I give this book four stars instead of five because of the character flaws. I did enjoy the book, however, and I looked forward to more books by this author where I hope the characters have more pleasant personalities. I would recommend this book to other suspense lovers like me.

Untraceable ( Mountain Cove series book 2 )
by: Elizabeth Goddard
Wow, grab hold and hold on for a wild ride as you join the search and rescue team in the icy mountaintop. Untraceable is the second book in the series Mountain Cove. It can be read alone , but would be better if you read book one first. I really enjoyed Untraceable and Elizabeth Goddard does not disappoint me. The search and rescue team is called out into a daring mission where they end up being held hostage by a stranded gang of thieves in the icy mountaintop. They are in some dangerous blizzards and fighting for their lives. I really loved the two main characters, Heidi and Isaiah .They both have feeling for each other and trying to hide it. Heidi has had some bad experiences and Isaiah is hiding secrets from Heidi . Both their past is holding them back. Isaiah promises to take care of Heidi , but how can he protect her when he is held at gunpoint ? There are lots of twist and turns , action, suspense , and romance in Untraceable. The trust and rescue team has to trust each other they will not come out of this alive. Between thieves, food , and blizzards , will they make it alive. I also loved the spiritual thread that goes through Untraceable.
I was given a copy of this book from the author for my honest review, which I have given.

The author takes us on a search and rescue mission in the Alaskan mountains through treacherous terrain that takes the entire team working together for this mission to be a success. The beautiful book cover give just a hint of the chilling suspense inside.

The Alaskan mountains are unforgiving to those who are unskilled and sometimes even those that hare skilled. Heidi is skilled, but it's going to take all of her concentration to complete this mission. I was drawn to Heidi with her emotional scars and trust issues. The one distraction she didn't need was Isaiah Callahan. Isaiah was a man with secrets and he didn't let anyone get close to him. Both these characters are very strong and well developed. The words she weaves together brings these characters to life. The author's use of imagery will bring the story to life and the fast paced suspense will keep them turning the pages. I think this is one of my favorite books by Elizabeth Goddard. It had me on the edge of my seat and guessing the outcome until the final pages.

I would recommend this book to anyone who loves suspense and a good, clean romance. I was given this book by the author for a honest and unbiased opinion as stated above.

Wow “Untraceable” took me on a thrill ride and did not let up until literally the last page! It was so action packed and had me wanting to read more every time I HAD to put it down (otherwise I would have kept reading). Plus the scenery itself kept me intrigued! It sounded so beautiful even if it was dangerous and in some places, lift-threatening.

Heidi and Isaiah were really fleshed out characters that I both bonded with. They both had different pasts, but I could easily relate to their struggles of trust that resulted. I loved how during the times that they struggled of where God was that they still sought Him out, looked to Him in faith. It definitely reminded me that God is literally with us no matter where we might be and loved how Elizabeth wove in that message from Psalm 139.

I would definitely recommend this suspense read to anyone who loves a good page turner with a dangerous plot, inspiring message, and characters that you can cheer for to keep going.

Untraceable
By: Elizabeth Goddard

Untraceable is book two in the Mountain Cove series. I loved the first one Buried. Which kept me on edge but this one did the same. Elizabeth has a wonderful touch for writing action pack , romance and inspirational all in one story. Some twist and turns that keep you guessing. Research team is called out to do a rescue on the mountain only to get caught in a trap by some thieves. Being lost they need the rescue team to get them out. The weather on the mountain can be deadly. Heidi and Isaiah with a pass, but can Heidi learn to trust him again in time of needing help? Isaiah has a pass that he needs to deal with to be able to move on. Can they put feeling aside and help each other to get out of this? You like a good suspense this is a great book for you. I love how Elizabeth writes spiritual in her books. You will not be disappointed in this book. If you haven't read Buried I would highly suggest you do. Looking for to book three.

My husband and I both read this book which is #2 in the series. The search and rescue angle is interesting, though it's a bit hard to believe that the untrained killers could keep up with the trained search and rescue professionals in a trek that demands exceptional skill to make it out alive. In book one in the series, a character was saved by a totally unbelievable coincidence, but this book wisely doesn't resort to that kind of plotting. The book is mildly Christian and the characters behave with admirable integrity, which I appreciate and respect.
If you like outside adventure and a battle with the forces of nature, you might enjoy this book.

This was an excellent book that kept me on the edge of my seat. Rescue teams spend hours training. All the training in the world would not have prepared this team for what they are about to face. Hidi, and her brother Cade, and Handsome Isaiah are sent down by Helicopter to the top of an Alaskan mountaintop during freezing weather. They were told the mission was to rescue an injured hiker. Instead, they become hostages to a group of thieves. They found a dead body near the campsite, so they know they could be the next to die. This group of thieves needs help hiking to a location to be picked up by a plane. I like the way this rescue team stays cool under pressure and is always thinking outside the box. The action and suspense was perfect!

Way too predictable. It starts in medias res, with the heroine hanging upside down on a mountain. From there she goes from one sticky predicament to the next all while falling back in love and out again and in again. It was one of those plots that feels more like a nightmare-if it can go wrong it does-and then all comes up roses on the last few pages. I would have liked more and better description of the landscape and survival techniques. Still, if you like improbable plots and stereotypical characters with cliche motives then this is good for a few laughs.

An exciting, action packed read. On a rescue mission Heidi Warren and her team step onto an icy Alaska mountaintop and right into a trap. Thieves force them into helping them trek across a treacherous path facing dangerous weather, deadly terrain and murderous criminals. Will they be able to get them where they want to go and survive? Will the criminals let them go? or do they plan to kill them?

An action-packed mountain rescue attempt that turns into a forced guided escape for a gang of thieves. Tension between the rescue team members doesn't help in planning an escape for themselves. Secrets lead to trust issues and then the weather worsens. This inspirational novel is the second in a series and although I hadn't read the first volume I had not trouble reading this as a stand alone.

Nail Biting Suspense in Alaska
This 2015 novel could be a close second cousin to the 1993 Sylvester Stallone drama, 'Cliffhanger.' Crime, Search and Rescue, Serious winter storm danger, romance on the side...yes, all boxes checked. If you have not seen the movie, you will enjoy the book. It is a quick read and an enjoyable, clean book.

A sequel to Buried. A survival wilderness trip through the ice fields north of Juneau, Alaska. This was a snow packed (pun intended) peril on the mountain. It ends with a twisted surprise for all.
