For most kids growing up in the 70s and early 80s, Saturday mornings were for cartoons and sugary cereals. I was no different. But my weekend afternoons included something a little extra...Lance Russell and Dave Brown, sittin' right along ringside, ready for another BIG day of Championship Wrestling. Man I LIVED for those shows each week; watching The heroes Bill Dundee, Rick and Ribert Gibson, and many others go up against the baddest of the bad-guys; Jerry Lawler, Phil Hickerson, Dennis Condry...and so many other names...all coming from the TV studios of Channel 5 out of Memphis, shown locally on Channel 7 in Evansville.

This book chronicals arguably the most important year in Memphis Wrestling history...the year Jerry Jarrett, hotshot promoter for the Memphis end of the Gulas-Welch Tennessee promotion, broke away from Nick Gulas to start his own promotion. Detailing each month, author Mark James gives a review of the goings-ons, both in-ring and behind the scenes, as well as reproductions of most of the programs sold at the House shows in Memphis.

If you've ever even HEARD of The King, Tge Superstar, The Samoans, and so many others...you need to read this book. It will stomp a mudhole in your memory, then stomp it dry!
