Two and a half stars.
Sarah Medina, art dealer and owner of her design studio Perfect Touch, procures artworks for her clients. Living in San Francisco but travelling the world, from there she feel she has come a long way from her dairy farm beginnings. And she has no intention of ever returning to the life she saw her mother endure on the farm. Jay Vermilion has a ranch he intends to restore. But he is having hassles with his selfish and money hungry stepmother and half-brother Barton. At the centre of their dispute is a collection or artworks by the artist Armstrong ’Custer’ Harris. It is this art collection provides the initial link between Sara and Jay. When Sara and Jay finally meet after a number of late night phone calls there is an instant attraction. But it is also obvious they have different aims and plans for their lives.
There is murder and suspense in this book and yet for me it didn’t really seem to gather pace until a long way down the track. Even then some of it seemed a bit over the top. Some of the dialogue I found cringe-worthy and the couple of sex scenes were overdone as to what was happening. Trust me, readers don’t need a blow by blow description. We know how it goes. So if you’re not into steamy sex scenes you might want to skim as I did.
I read this book and enjoyed aspects of the story and the characters. This is the second book I have read by this author. She has published a lot and it seems lots of people like them, so maybe I will just say I am probably not the right reader for her books. Others may thoroughly enjoy this book.

I never ceases to amaze me that Elizabeth Lowell can wrap the education of a grad course in the guise of an awesome romantic-suspense novel. In Perfect Touch we revisit the world of art, this time the art of the western landscape. I am always entertained by her books and feel that I have learned something new each time I read one. There are few others authors that can educate you and entertain you at the same time. Elizabeth Lowell is truly unique.
Sarah and Jay have had a phone relationship for months as Sarah tries to help him retain ownership of landscape paintings done by Armstrong "Custer" Harris worth a lot of money. They haven't met but Sarah is more than a little infatuated with the land rich rancher, Jay. She travels to Montana and the sparks quickly ignite between them. Jay's family, stepmother and half brother are draining the ranch resources and Liza is claiming ownership of the Custer paintings. Liza, mommy dearest, is trying her hand at blackmail and brother, Barton, is has had some shady dealings with the ranch. Sarah is in the middle and there have already been two murders.

Escogí Morir de amor para el #RitaLowell, pero me ha resultado aburridísimo. Como no lo he terminado no voy a dejar mi opinión en el blog, solo en Goodreads. He llegado hasta la mitad, pero al final lo abandoné, y mirad que no me gusta hacerlo, pero es que me quedaba dormida con el #BrokebackMountain de estos dos, y si aún hubiera habido algo de marcha, pero aparte de alguna miradita y algún pensamiento algo subidito tipo: «a ti te daba yo por todos lados» nada. Se supone que llevan hablando varias semanas a diario por teléfono y la química entre ellos es muy fuerte, aunque ya os digo que hasta donde he leído aparte de algún pensamiento y alguna miradita nasti de plasti...
Sara es una marchante de arte que viaja hasta Jackson (Wioming), para intentar conseguir ser la agente que se encargue de la venta de los cuadros que ha heredado Jay.
Jay es un exmilitar que ha regresado recientemente de Afganistan, y a la muerte de su padre se hace cargo del rancho familiar casi en ruinas. Para poder tener un poco de liquidez y después de años de pelear por la propiedad de los cuadros con su madrastra y su medio hermano, el juez hace cumplir el testamento y se los entrega a él.
Al comienzo una charla sin fin sobre arte y los cuadros de un tal Custer que vivía en el rancho y que el prota quiere valorar para ver si se venden o no se venden, después un viaje interminable para trasladar el ganado y una charla sin fin sobre que ella es una chica de ciudad y que él un chico de campo y sobre lo bien que monta ella a caballo... vamos que lo intenté, pero al final decidí no perder más el tiempo y dejarlo pasar por este mes.

Perfect Touch by Elizabeth Lowell is a 2015 William Morrow publication. I was provided a copy of this book by the publisher and Edelweiss in exchange for an honest review.
This is romantic suspense written as it should be. Mystery, suspense, action, thrills, and of course romance, this one has it all, and the author does a great job of giving this story the perfect blend of all these elements, resulting a fantastic read.
This story features Wyoming cowboy and rancher Jay Vermillion who has just been awarded by a judge, all his father's paintings. This judgment has frozen out Jay's former step mother and his half brother, who are none too happy.
Enter art dealer Sara Maddox who has been hired by Jay to help him appraise the paintings and then sell them at auction. Sara is thrilled to have this opportunity, but she never imagines the ways in which her life is about to change.
The art world is always fascinating to me and it's obvious the author has a real appreciation for it and has done some research. Her insights into modern art were insightful and thought provoking.
One usually thinks of art galleries and studios in trendy or upscale parts of big cities, but the wide open spaces in Wyoming was where Jay's father did his best work, early in his career. But it's obvious from the beginning that Sara is only there to do a job , and can not wait to hightail it back to the big city of San Francisco, which is too bad because she and Jay have a chemistry that is so hot it needs a warning label.
“But she still could enjoy the one hundred percent male standing only twenty feet away. Wonder if he's smart enough to add three and two and get five, or if he just coast along on his sheer presence”
I loved the Jay's cowboy persona and his loyalty to this way of life, his moral code, and unwavering sense of right and wrong, and his ability to see past the manipulations of this half brother and step mother, who is a real piece of work. Jay is the quintessential cowboy with the right amount of sensitivity and protectiveness which balanced nicely with the take charge side of him. His service in the war gives him some added toughness, but also some vulnerability. I fell in love with him “at first sight.”
Sara escaped the country life and swore she would not find herself marrying a poor farmer and having a brood of kids, like her mother. So, while she is in Wyoming, she enjoys being with Jay, but both of them know Jay would never leave his ranch for life in the city and Sara will never leave the city for a life in the country. Is there any way they can somehow compromise in order to have life together?
The action really gets rolling toward the second half of the book and from that time on its non stop suspense as all the pieces of the puzzle regarding the paintings, especially one entitled “Muse”, starts to click into place. There are some few unexpected twist along the way, and some edge of your seat suspense.
Elizabeth Lowell is a seasoned author with an impressive body of work, but at times over the years I have lost touch with her. I am so happy to have found this one and the well written story is just the type of romantic suspense I enjoy most. I loved the romance, mystery, the city/country conflict, the art, and the wonderful way everything came together in the end. 5 stars

Another book that doesn't work for me. Third person writing with thought patterns in italics interjected? Not for me. And serious, but unnecessary sex scenes (a good dirty book is fine - this doesn't qualify for that either) detracted rather than added. No more Lowell.

So this isn't my kind of book. Not the suspense part, I love those kinda of books. Not the romance, I'm a fan. I liked the characters after a while and was fine with them. The story was okay. I figured out at least part of the story pretty quickly. The rest came fast with only one little surprise to me. None of that was an issue for me.
The problem I had was the writing style. This is the first book I've read from this author and I didn't care for her style. It's a personal preference for me. I've never been a fan of third person writing with omnipresent being my least favorite. This is written in that form but with a variation that I found jarring. When a character thinks something it's written in first person and printed in italics. It made me crazy.
Overall, the book is fine otherwise. Characters, setting, theme, and romance are all good. I just struggled to read it. I plowed through it because I just wanted it over. I do think that anyone who enjoys third person writing will be fine with it. Just not me.

This is absolutely Elizabeth Lowell at her best. She combines normal with suspense, murder and fear. Her hero is very alpha and worthy of Sarah. She's an art dealer helping Jay sell his art collection inherited from his father so he can save his ranch. After the court settles the will and Jay has access to his inheritance, someone is trying to make sure Jay and Sarah don't survive. Fast paced and full of suspense this is a wonderful read. I love everything she has written , including her books under other names.

Elizabeth Lowell has been around for some time now. I personally think she belongs tot he same level as Nora Roberts and Sandra Brown. This book, Perfect Touch is a good example why she's a popular author and why I think she's really good at her craft.
I loved the fact that this book has both depth, suspense, and romance. The plot and pacing was steady. It gets you excited on the mystery and hooked on the chemistry between the characters. While I love the broken and darker heroes, every now and then, I always go for these types of contemporary romance novels because they're not bleak and hopeless.
I definitely enjoyed the whole time I spent reading Perfect Touch. Of course, I'm not surprised because I trust the author. However, I still want to say that I liked this book a lot, and I would certainly recommend it to her fans and even to new readers.

The first book I read by this author was a flop for me. I didn't think I'd wanna give her another chance until I started looking at different books she had written and their reviews. I thrust the instincts of several of my GR friends so I gave her another try. I am glad I did because I enjoyed this book and read it in a day. I actually did not expect her sex scenes to be much but boy was I wrong :) Great suspense/mystery, romance, sex and characters. I halfway expected who one bad person was, but did not see it coming with the other!

This story delivered exactly what I expected to. A little bit of romance and a little bit of suspense.
I liked the fact that there was a backstory to the love instead of instant chemistry...because really does that exist, instant lust maybe but not instant love. The fact that Jay and Sara had been talking on the phone for months before meeting actually put some substance to their relationship. Too many times stories head straight to the bedroom scenes and you are left scratching your head and asking if they even got each others names. In this case there was a certain element of realism to their relationship which was refreshing.
For a story that is centered around a murder and some suspense I did fond that it was a little slow moving. You need to look no further than the horse ride with the cattle to Fish camp. This was very long and I swear it lasted half of the book. I just wanted them to get there. The story starts to move after this point so you need to hang in for a while before there is any momentum.
I have to admit that this story held no surprises for me. I figured out what was going on and who the "villain" was pretty early on. It was still fin to see how it would play out.
Overall this was a satisfying read for me.

One of the things I really enjoy about Elizabeth Lowell's books is the interesting careers and specialized knowledge, skills, and expertise her heroines demonstrate. I do love a competent heroine! And, I always learn something new.

I was almost ready to give this book two stars, but the pace of the second half inches my opinion to three. The author provides us with wonderful descriptions of Wyoming and the plot has some intriguing moments. However, I almost gave up during the first few chapters because of the use of italics to give the characters thoughts! What a waste of energy and distraction from the plot.
Like other readers, I felt the writer went over the top on the intimate scenes and it wasn't necessary - imagination is a good asset!
I won't be searching for more titles by the author-even though I did learn a little about the art world.

Although PERFECT TOUCH started off slow, it turned into an excellent and fast paced read that fans of romantic suspense will love.
Retired Army captain Jay Vermillion may have a series of paintings that could skyrocket Sara Medina's career to the next level. Her immediate visceral reaction to the man's voice notwithstanding, Sara needs Jay's help to gain access to the Custer paintings he's inherited, and when his former stepmother loses claim to them in court, Sara has her chance. She's not expecting the man with the golden voice to have the looks to back it up, but she's struck dumb when she finally meets him in person.
A break-in at her hotel room has her bunking at Vermillion Sky Ranch with Jay, getting to know the man who swept her off her feet on the phone. As the two get to know one another in person, it's clear that Sara's stance of NEVER moving back to the middle of nowhere is wavering, just as it's clear that someone isn't prepared to play nice when it comes to the Custers, Sara, Jay or the Vermillion Sky Ranch.
I started off wary of PERFECT TOUCH because of the discrepancies in the book's synopsis versus the book itself, but quickly realized that Ms. Lowell created an excellent romantic suspense novel that had a little something for everyone. For romance, we've got former soldier Jay and art specialist Sara getting to know one another with a series of phone calls, only to realize they were laying the groundwork for a romantic and epic relationship tighter than a lot of MC's out there. PERFECT TOUCH had intrigue; it left me wondering who wanted the "Muse" paintings so much that they were willing to do all sorts of nefarious things to get it. There was drama, with the stepmother and the half-brother's antics enough to make anyone shake their heads. The suspense had me on the edge of my seat, particularly during the second half of the book, and I genuinely didn't know who was behind the plot until the last minute since my "sure bet" lost this round.

Retired Army captain Jay Vermillion may have a series of paintings that could skyrocket Sara Medina's career to the next level. Her immediate visceral reaction to the man's voice notwithstanding, Sara needs Jay's help to gain access to the Custer paintings he's inherited, and when his former stepmother loses claim to them in court, Sara has her chance. She's not expecting the man with the golden voice to have the looks to back it up, but she's struck dumb when she finally meets him in person.
A break-in at her hotel room has her bunking at Vermillion Sky Ranch with Jay, getting to know the man who swept her off her feet on the phone. As the two get to know one another in person, it's clear that Sara's stance of NEVER moving back to the middle of nowhere is wavering, just as it's clear that someone isn't prepared to play nice when it comes to the Custers, Sara, Jay or the Vermillion Sky Ranch.
I started off wary of PERFECT TOUCH because of the discrepancies in the book's synopsis versus the book itself, but quickly realized that Ms. Lowell created an excellent romantic suspense novel that had a little something for everyone. For romance, we've got former soldier Jay and art specialist Sara getting to know one another with a series of phone calls, only to realize they were laying the groundwork for a romantic and epic relationship tighter than a lot of MC's out there. PERFECT TOUCH had intrigue; it left me wondering who wanted the "Muse" paintings so much that they were willing to do all sorts of nefarious things to get it. There was drama, with the stepmother and the half-brother's antics enough to make anyone shake their heads. The suspense had me on the edge of my seat, particularly during the second half of the book, and I genuinely didn't know who was behind the plot until the last minute since my "sure bet" lost this round.

I'm probably more at 3.5 stars, but here's the deal. The first, oh, third of the book is S L O W, with so much internal dialog used as exposition that I wondered if I would be able to finish. Who *thinks* all that stuff? In that kind of language?
The descriptions of Wyoming (and the paintings) were beautiful, and I think captured the region well. It is beautiful country.
When the action finally started, it finally started getting good, and I binge read the last 8th of the book.
Then we got to the end, and
So, the action was well done, but I thought the mystery resolution points were a little weak. Oh, and I mentioned the head-hopping in my status updates. How distracting! If it were truly omniscient, it would show all characters' thoughts, but it is mainly the H/h, and then at the end, we even get into the bad guy's head for a couple paragraphs. In my opinion, that's just lazy.

Sarah is an Art dealer, she grew up on a farm with her family and has escaped to the city where she now owns her own business. She has such love for the art and can see things in pieces other people can't. While Sarah was describing a few paintings, she was so thorough, I could picture the pieces myself and it was like I was seeing them through her eyes. It made me appreciate the art world a lot more.
Sarah is a sweet, caring, yet strong willed woman. And when she meets Jay I felt a strong connection between them, it sizzled from the pages.

Afters years of fighting, it was finally over and Jay could start his new life running his father's ranch. Nothing but wide open spaces, mountains and breath-taking scenery. Can't forget the cougars and bears (oh, my!)
Lowell has written such a wonderful story, with an in-depth feel for the land and it's characters.
Full of mystery, suspense, a few twists and turns, it'll be sure to keep you on your toes.

Elizabeth Lowell is always an auto-read author for me. I have read most of her books. I just love how she combines the right amount of suspense and romance to make for a great read. Perfect Touch is perfect example! I really enjoyed this one.
Sarah is an art dealer who is hoping to be hired by Jay to sell some paintings his father left to him. Jay is in a huge battle against his father's ex-wife over the paintings. He is hoping the proceeds will help to keep the ranch going for future generations. There is a murder, attempted murder and Jay realizes someone is hunting both him and Sarah.
The action picks up pretty much from the minute Sarah steps on the ranch right up to the end. I thought the book was fast paced and kept me guessing. The romance was a nice addition as well. The thing I liked about it was that it wasn't insta-love. Jay and Sarah had been talking on the phone for weeks leading up to their face-to-face meeting. That made their attraction more believable to me.
If you are a fan of Ms. Lowell's or if you are looking for a good romantic suspense, you will want to make sure to add this one to you TBR pile!

Relatively entertaining romantic suspense from an author who has done better (Jade Cove for example). Jay Vermillion is ex-military, trying to keep his Wyoming ranch afloat. He's been locked in a battle with his ex-step mother over ownership of some potentially valuable paintings. Sarah is the art expert who has come to evaluate the artwork - and has already fallen for Jay based on his sexy telephone voice. Together they sort through their feelings for each other while battling through some very real dangers.
The visual descriptions in this book are beautifully written. The suspense is sharp and detailed. The romance is hot and steamy. My issue is that everything happens so quickly. I feel as if there should have been less description, and more investigation. The bad guys weren't difficult to figure out, but their motivation felt glossed over and too simplistic. I ended up feeling as if I had missed something, and I actually went back to re-read the last several chapters in the hopes that was the case. This one was close, but just missed the mark for me.

I loved this book! I had not read Elizabeth Lowell in awhile and am very glad that I had the chance of getting an advance copy so I could rediscover her as an author.
Character development is very important to me when I read a book and I was not disappointed here. Sara and Jay Vermillion are already connected by the time they meet and the connection expands rapidly into mutual interest.
On his father's death, Jay has inherited the ranch in Wyoming (scenery descriptions are gorgeous) as well as his father's art collection. He has also inherited the problems of his stepmother who wants to get more money out of the ranch. Secondary characters are well done and very believable in their roles.
Murder and possible betrayal make this book hard to put down. I read most of the book in one sitting.
Read this book. You will not be disappointed.

In the book there is some suspense in the book. It is also about a war soilder returning to his farm and becoming a rancher. Which is also the setting with the love of art and the setting of the story takes place in Jackson Wyoming.
There is also a rancher that was in the war in Afghanistan and was hurt I think. During that time he returned and found there was financial problems in keeping the ranch going and afloat.
When it comes to Jay and Sara there is a strong attrraction for one another. There is are also deep feelings towards one andother. When it comes to plans for them they are worlds apart.
There is lots of romantic Suspense, Thrills and Passion in the book. Great book over all. There is also mystery and action. Great ending too.
I would reading the book again.

Sara Medina is an art appraiser and Jay Vermillion owns a Wyoming ranch that contains a lot of paintings by artist Armstrong "Custer" Harris. Jay has legal issues with his ex-stepmother and his spoiled and spinelsss half brother over the art. Sara, born to a large family on a dairy farm, never wants to return to that way of life but comes to Wyoming to view the paintings. Her hotel room is broken into. Then the caretakers of the ranch are stabbed to death. Someone is determined to bring harm to Sara and Jay. Who and why?
I enjoy Elizabeth Lowell's books and I think this story is one of her best. Lots of action in this book and more than a bit of romance!

every bookd of Elizabeth Lowell's that I read just keep getting better.
I would call this a slow savor book. not fast or scattered. just read and enjoy.
The characacters Sarah and Jay came alive in the story telling. the Perfect Touch of suspense, mystery and of course romance. the blend made the book .

Art dealer travels to Wyoming to help a rancher accumulate, show and present the art of Harris "Custer" Armstrong. It's a mystery, suspense story with a little too much sex for my taste, but easily skipped without loosing touch with the actual story. The last pages are surprising, unexpected and enjoyable.
