The Temptress There’s just something about a French accent, something that conjures images of romance, sex and passion. There’s a reason French is called ‘the language of love.’
Lulu McQueen runs an exclusive honeytrap agency, to test the fidelity of rich men for their suspicious partners. While her business flourishes and her track record in the field remains unbroken, earning her the nickname of The Temptress, her personal life isn’t so successful.
A trip to Paris, years ago, led to the most erotic encounter of her life with Luc, a charismatic, dominant, irresistible Frenchman. For one night she experienced bliss on a scale she’d never encountered and fled in the morning, ashamed of herself, but her Parisian one night stand was burned into her memories and no one since had compared.
With no one available on short notice, Lulu steps in to lure Mrs. Le Grand’s rich husband, for an extortionately high fee. Lulu’s in for the shock of her life when she finds her mark at the hotel bar. Luc Le Grand still has a face and body to make Adonis weep. He exudes confidence, masculinity and raw sex appeal.
The question now isn’t whether Lulu can tempt him, but whether she can resist him, retain her reputation and secure her fee, or whether she’ll fall under Mr. Le Grand’s spell. Again.

ARC provided to me by author C.J. Fallowfield in exchange for an honest review.
Sometimes you just know, you know that with a certain author, the book they have written, their style, the characters, and the story line... everything just clicks, and you lose yourself, it’s not just reading a book, it’s a whole emotional and involved experience…
You go on the journey that the author gives the characters, become so connected with them through its telling that you feel everything they are feeling, hurt when they hurt, hope for them, get frustrated and angry with and for them, you will them on, and you cross everything that they will get all that they deserve, and more. And that is what this author excels at, the stories she writes and the attention to detail that she provides in their telling are incomparable for me.
I am not in general a gushy reviewer, I have been called a 'picky bitch' on occasion, and I am happy with that moniker, I have high expectations, and I think that happens when you read a lot, because you get to know quality, and when you are presented with it, you appreciate it all the more. Charlotte Fallowfield is Quality, and on every level there is in relation to writing books.
You didn’t run far enough… Wherever you hide. I will find you again.
Luc and Lulu’s story is in essence quite a simple one, in regards to the basis of it, being a couple that have lost touch after one monumental night and day together, and then reconnecting under unique circumstances six years later. But what the author does is build its depth by adding layer upon layer to the story as it develops, and makes it unique with the secondary characters and their involvement (Coco and Dom are BFF’s I would kill to have), the concurrently running plots and the overall vision that you are presented with in the narration. It’s just an All-you-can-eat buffet of reading immersion.
Two nights and a day with my enigmatic Frenchman and I missed him like I’d miss oxygen…
I loved Lulu, she was soft, loving and likeable but with a core of steel, a woman not afraid to fight for those she loves, her way of life, and for her happily ever after. The road to her and Luc’s reconnection is not a smooth one, the obstacles in their way are not easy ones to bypass, and the way they worked together to defeat them, all the while scorching up the pages with their combustible chemistry, and imaginative sexy-times.
Luc, was your A-typical alpha male, with the additional French flavouring to add a little difference to the mix. I love a guy who isn’t afraid to show his woman in actions as well as words just how much he wants her, and the depth of his feelings for her, together they worked as a team when it came to business, but very much as a couple when it came to everything else. There were points in the second half of the book that the author actually had me sniffling a little when more of his back story is told, but there were also plenty of laughs with his mixing up of English phraseology and his Frenchified dirty talk, that again you are presented with a beautifully rounded character.
"For you I am prepared to do romance and the making of the love…"
I don’t really want to say too much more about the plot, because there is so much that happens the potential to inadvertently give away a spoiler is huge. This isn’t a book you will forget in a hurry, all of the books I have read by the author are ones that will stay in my memories, because they made memories whilst I read each one of them. If you are looking for your next romantic read, I don’t think you would be disappointed if you gave C. J. Fallowfield, a try.
"Fate is inescapable."
ARC generously provided by the author, it was my absolute pleasure to provide the above honest review.
4.5 Fair-minded stars. Shame on me! I sincerely owe C. J. Fallowfield an apology for getting all bent out of shape when the story line was evident that the lead character's job was to entrap men whom her clients thought were having an affair. That pissed me off. I closed the book without finishing and missed out on some of the best writing I've ever read. (The first Time around) It bothered me so much that the reviews all around were 5 stars, and I began to wonder what the hell I missed. Then my review appeared on Ms. Fallowfields page and I felt absolutely awful, because I was one of those damn readers that I despise that didn't even finish the book. The second time around I let the story bring me into it's theater of characters, and was quickly consumed with wanting Lulu and Luc to find their happily ever-after. Ms.Fallowfield your writing is impeccable, and I fell absolutely in love with Lulu and Luc. Coco and Dom were also fun and interesting characters. Myrtille...not so much. That just shows me, you did your job. I hope everyone learns a lesson from me. DO NO JUDGE if you don't finish the story. I hope I'm an example for everyone. Lesson Learned. Ms. Fallow field you have my sincere apology and I'm not ashamed to confront my mistakes. Sounds like another story huh! LOL OK, enough of the theatrics... Please read The Temptress if you like hot, fun romances. You'll not be sorry. You'll only be sorry if you don't. *mwah*
The Temptress by C J Fallowfield has you hooked from the first page as its full of passion, excitement, secrets, humour and blazing chemistry. It is a standalone novel and the premise of this book makes it a tricky one to review without spoilers so please be aware I'm being deliberately vague and cryptic.
Lulu McQueen, 30, is a successful business woman who runs a highly sought after honey trap agency called Sweet Temptations. It's an established, above board classy agency and has very high expectations of its staff. "I had a golden rule that was an instant dismissal if it was broken. Never sleep with a client." Lulu is wealthy, successful and sought after in her professional life, but her personal life is the opposite. She's an attractive brunette whose look can entice and ensnare any male and her brain can bring about their demise; she's often underestimated due to her looks, but wow betide anyone who does that. Her one night of passion in France 6 years ago with an unknown Frenchman called Luc has left an indelible mark on her. No man since has lived up to him. That one night changed Lulu forever and left her with much more than wild memories of one night of reckless abandon in Paris.
One fateful Monday Lulu is requested to assist the wealthy, aristocratic French Mrs Le Grand to aid in her divorce proceedings with a hefty enticing payment to lure her husband to stray. Lulu accepts as its nothing unusual, but feels that the wife has underlying motives and that leaves her feeling very uncomfortable.
What unfolds for Lulu when she meets the mark is her worst nightmare: her past life and her professional life colliding in spectacular style as the mark in question is none other than her French fling from 6 years ago Luc. Now Lulu has a decision to make: fulfil her business obligations to Mrs Le Grand, secure her fee and maintain the reputation of her business or give into her heart's desire and risk losing everything discovering if they really were fated to be together.
Luc Le Grand is an impossibly hard man to resist when he sets his sights on what he wants and all he's ever wanted was Lulu. This Adonis faced, smooth talking, devilishly devious and sexy Frenchman is so much more than his facade appears. Lulu has been the only one to touch his heart so he's determined not to lose her again damning whatever the repercussions of that maybe. "When Luc Le Grand wanted something he got it, and she was my next target."
Can the Temptress fight temptation or will be giving into temptation be more than she could ever imagine and a step towards a different kind of fate for Lulu and Luc?
As always CJ creates characters that you instantly connect with; Lulu is one I instantly loved and could feel her every dilemma in choosing what to do for the best and Luc, oh Luc, is now top of my international male boyfriends list as a suave, determined and alpha hottie!! With dual Pov's, scenes from that time 6 years ago and seamless links between CJ's other books in this novel this is one book not to be missed whether your new to CJ's work or not. All that's left to be said is hurry up with 'All that Glisters as I need more Coco, Hunter and Dom.
That book is unusual because it begins very well by slowly building up the tension and angst. It makes you nervous and curious about what will happen. Then, by %50, phew, all angst and tension gone in the middle of the book! And their happily-ever-after begins by the middle of the book and it gets happier and happier till the end!
I had never read a book before this one in which the hero and the heroine are happily together by the middle of the book. That is why, I waited for something bad to happen till the end of the book, but no, it didn’t. The hero and the heroine acted wisely, perfectly and ideally, not causing any more misunderstandings or problems, so things got resolved between them smoothly. Therefore, in the second half of the book, there was this slow and dragging story of their happy relationship.
I had a hard time to understand why this book was 412 pages. It could have been a perfect 250 page-book. It could have ended where they solved their problems and confessed their love to one another. I really wonder why I had to read 200 more pages just to see how much they loved each other, how happy they were each day and how many children they had in the years to come. This happy story continued for so long that when it finally ended, I was happier than the happy couple…
Normally I finish reading a book in one day or two days maximum but finishing this one took 5 days because it was so slow and after a while, there was nothing to be curious about.
I believe this book needs serious editing and with a half length, it could be an awesome book!
*****
The book is told by dual point of view. Both the hero and the heroine are lovable. The side characters are also good.
The story is emotional, hot and it involves dirty language and some scenes of BDSM.
I honestly believe with every book CJ Fallowfield writes, for the reader the experience just keeps getting better and better due to the depths of her writing ability. Just when you think she can’t possibly top her last series, she raises the bar yet again, delivering another stunning novel that grabs your attention, consumes you, mesmerising you all over again and refuses to let you go.
Starting The Temptress I was hooked from the first page. It’s a novel of two alpha characters which I easily fell in love with. Lulu McQueen is a strong independent woman. She owns her own business running an exclusive honeytrap agency, Sweet Temptations. You have doubts that your husband/partner is cheating; then Lulu McQueen is the woman for you. Her mission is to respectably test the fidelity of these men to see if the suspicions you have are correct.
Luc is the HOT successful dirty mouthed Frenchman. Women fall at his feet with his good looks and his irresistible charm. What Luc wants,….Luc gets.
Lulu McQueen has always been on top her game. That’s until one night in Paris crossing paths with the HOT dirty mouthed Frenchman Luc changes everything. It’s a night of passion like never before for Lulu. Six years on, Luc is still heavily in Lulu’s thoughts. She never envisioned the impact that would follow from their erotic encounter. Luc has branded her heart and mind forever. No man since has been able to satisfy her in the way only Luc can. Knowing full well she can’t keep comparing every man against the memories of her Parisian one night stand, Lulu consumes her time with friends/ family and work. It’s after agreeing to a new assignment when Lulu’s past finally comes flooding back sending both Luc and herself in to a tailspin of emotions that neither of them could foresee.
An Intriguing gripping standalone novel, told beautifully with a flow of words that transport you in to the lives of these two wonderful characters. No novel of CJ’s would be without the hot sex scenes and like always every scene throughout this book is done to perfection. For me this story goes way beyond an erotic romance. What captivated me was the emotional side to this story. It’s an intensive read at times pulling at your heartstrings. I completely connected with both characters. The scenes with Luc were so touching and tender you can’t help but shed a tear.
Another must read in my opinion. For me you can’t go wrong with any of this author’s works. She amazes me on every journey with her gift for writing.
Lulu McQueen is the Temptress. She's beautiful, smart and loves with a passion that's second to none.
She ventures to Paris for a Hens weekend with her best friend Coco and Coco's sister to let loose and celebrate. While drinking champagne at a night club, dancing and having a good time Lulu is oblivious that she caught the attention of Luc Le Grand.
Luc always gets what he wants which is usually a conquest between the sheets within an hour. He doesn't do relationships and never chases women until Lulu.
Their chemistry is instant and stronger than anything either of them have ever experienced before. Luc comes on strong stating his intentions right then. Only problem is that Lulu doesn't do one night stands. She's the first woman to tell him no which makes him want her more.
They agree to a date the following day and Luc states very clearly that he'll be a perfect gentlemen all day but make no mistake Lulu will be in his bed that night and into the next morning.
Lulu caves and breaks her rules by spending the hottest night of her life with Luc. By the next morning she bolts racked with guilt and embarrassment.
This story was erotic, suspenseful and very touching. I thoroughly enjoyed every page.
The supporting characters are amazing and funny. Everyone meshes perfectly.
First of all, the cover of this book is absolutely stunning! And the substance inside the cover was just as stunning.....I loved the writing style, although I was stumped with some of the French language...haha!
A getaway weekend with her friends finds Lulu McQueen meeting a handsome French mysterious HOT man named Luc. Although she was not the type to have one-night stands or any kind of sexual fling, she gets caught up in Luc and his charismatic charm (and dirty talk)! They spend a day together and then one incredibly hot night! Wow, their chemistry was smoking! In the morning, Lulu leaves before Luc wakes up, feeling ashamed and embarrassed. Circumstances prevent them from finding one another again, so she returns home to her blooming business and loneliness.
Lulu ran a company which basically catches spouses in the act.....almost like a detective agency....BUT they tempt the suspected spouse into things and get the evidence they need. Craziness!
So, it's been five years since she's seen Luc......Lulu has built up her business and has a dependable staff to help run things. Her personal life however has a lot to be desired. She has put up walls and cannot seem to let anyone in......her mind and body still remember that one day and night with Luc. There is also another factor which stops her from getting involved in a relationship which I won't mention because it would be spoilery! So I won't mention this part even though it is a huge part of their story!
Next up, a new client is looking to lure her husband into an affair with someone else so she can divorce him and ruin his financial status. Yep, you guessed it, enter Luc! A marriage of convenience, but still, he is married now. Imagine the surprise when Lulu finally meets up with him again. The anticipation was killing me!
I really loved the storyline, and like I said, I loved the writing. Great book! Great Epilogue!
I was provided an ARR copy of this book for an honest review through Fifty Shades Support Group.
There is no secret that I am a huge fan of CJ Fallowfield, from Gabe and Mia to Dan and Ellie, to Logan and Summer, but I have to say that Lulu and Luc are by far my most favorite to date!! This story truly took me through so many emotions from happy tears to sad tears back to happy tears, I laughed, cried, and was truly happy. I cannot describe how heartfelt and amazing this story of true love is. Not only has Ms. Fallowfield wrote another amazing book, but again this is my favorite of all!!!
Firstly can I just say that the true temptress is an amazing author called CJ Fallowfield; she never fails to hook us in with her genius writing, hot sex scenes and likeable characters. Each and every book is a great read and she has a very easy way of telling a story that entices you to always want more. Each book gets better and better!
Now for the review...
... Thank you CJ for yet another brilliant book. Deserves so much more than 5 twinkling stars!
is a fabulous standalone book that I honestly didn’t want to end - I'd highly recommend it!
Lulu McQueen is a feisty, beautiful businesswoman who spends one unexpected night of unimaginable pleasure with a tall, dark and ridiculously handsome bombastic Frenchman, she knows only as Luc. His dirty mouth and domineering ways gift her with pleasures and memories, firmly embedding that night as the best of her life - with good reason; no one ever comes close to Luc and his skill as a lover.
Six years later they are reunited unexpectedly, finding one another finally and picking right up where they left off – their chemistry is off the charts but their reconciliation and lives are complicated. A true alpha male determined to make Lulu his, once and for all, Luc stands his ground and refuses to let her escape him. He is deliciously romantic and attentive; the perfect sexy male, radiating sexual prowess, power and vulnerability all rolled into one hot and huge package (he certainly lives up to his surname ‘Le Grande’).
One chapter and CJ had me. She sucked me in to this exciting tale of temptation and love, with a twist and I became part of Luc and Lulu’s ride - and what a ride! I loved the secondary characters too, very likeable and realistic. I can’t wait to read more about them in, ‘All that Glisters’ later this year.
*ARC given on behalf of the author for an honest review * ** Review given on behalf of obsessed by books ** Those of you who have read CJ Fallowfield will understand when I say damn, every book of CJ'S I read I'm left hot and bothered and wanting more. Even though this is a stand alone with no cliffhanger I'm sure CJ has an idea up her sleeve. ok I loved the sexy hot chemistry between Luc and Lulu, I mean even their names go good together. I loved Lulu , she was smart, but could sass if she had to, but when your the Temptress you have to be well rounded, strong, but Lulu life isn't perfect , her personal life anyway . She has respondabilities, and decisions that don't just effect her. Luc is beautiful, dominate , just sex on a stick. Lulu met Luc on a one night stand that she's never been able to forget and it what she compares every guy to, but when she gets a job to check on a clients husband for indefinitely she never expected to run into the perfect one night lover. I loved this book it had just perfect amount of hotness, romance, humor and emotion. Definitely a must read. loved it.

I’ll admit, I’ve been in a bit of a book funk lately. I’ve been feeling like I’ve been reading the same book over and over again, with maybe just the names changed. So when a book comes along and gets me back in the swing of things, sucks me in so far that I don’t want to put it down, I want to shout its praises from the rooftops. Enter, The Temptress.
Lulu is the head of her own honey trap agency, an entity hired by suspicious spouses to either prove or disprove fidelity. A weekend trip to Paris years earlier changed her life in more ways than one. After spending one memorable night with the only man that reached her mind, body, and soul, she is ruined for all other men. The problem is, it was just one night. Through an unfortunate series of events, she is unable to contact Luc, even though he is constantly in her thoughts and dreams, half a decade later.
“…One day is all I ask, one day when I will be nothing but respectful. One day to show you that even without any sexual advances towards you, we are nevertheless fated to mate. But trust me on this,” he whispered against my lips, “one day we will mate, many times, passionately, aggressively, animalistically, tenderly, beautifully and gently, in many locations and many positions, but only when you plead for it. Only when you beg for my cock will you have it. And once you do, you’ll wish you’d begged me for it tonight.”
Luc is not only a self-made man, but he’s French and hot as hell. He’s the stereotypical French womanizer, until he meets Lulu. She’s the first woman to ever make him chase her and he immediately accepts the challenge. She finally relents and the two spend a magical night together, but she’s leaving to go back to England. With only her first name to go on, he’s unable to find her, instead entering into a marriage specifically for business purposes.
When Mrs. LeGrand approaches Lulu for her services, attempting to entrap her husband for purposes of a divorce, Luc is thrust back into Lulu’s life. But her life has changed completely since that unforgettable night. How can Luc get out of a loveless marriage in which his wife has ulterior motives, and how will he react to the secret Lulu is keeping?
“Like I’d let my little sister sleep with a guy who loved cock, particularly mine. I don’t know, I guess there’s something in the way a guy holds himself, the way he walks and sits, as well as a glance at his crotch. It’s like an extra sense, let’s call it a fifth sense, it’s cockdar.”
One of the greatest things I love about Fallowfield’s books is just how incredible her characters are, not only as individuals, but also in their relationships with each other. Lulu’s relationships with her best friend Coco as well as her twin brother Dominic are laugh out loud funny and immediately endear the characters to the reader. The banter between the three of them as both siblings and life-long friends is a huge highlight of the book. Add in the sizzling sexual chemistry between Luc and Lulu and you have an amazing book. I just couldn’t help but root for these characters and by the time I reached the end, I wasn’t ready for it to be over.
Fallowfield has become one of my go-to authors. I know that when I pick up one of her books, not only am I going to get an artfully written story that will hold my attention from beginning to end, but I will also meet characters that I will become personally invested in. The Temptress is not only original, but it has certainly raised the bar on the genre. Fortunately The Temptress was able to pull me out of my book funk, but unfortunately, it left we with a serious book hangover. We need more, Ms. Fallowfield; please, can we have more?
I was provided a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Sadly, I found this book to be a bit too tedious for my tastes. The blurb was certainly intriguing but unfortunately the plot seemed to lose focus fairly early in the book. The writing is solid but the author has a tendency to wax on a bit - particularly in the dialogue between the two lead characters. There were times their declarations to one another felt more like dissertations. But the biggest issue for me is I basically disliked both characters - primarily because they were both so incredibly arrogant and full of themselves. The book is told in first person narrative, mainly from the heroine but the hero has a few chapters here and there. Even in their inner dialogue we're treated to either how unbelievably attractive, or intelligent or accomplished they believe they are...and frankly, I found myself rolling my eyes.
There were some sweet moments throughout the book - particularly once they are reunited and learning to deal with the results of their one night stand. I enjoyed the secondary characters - particularly Tristan, Coco and Dominic, much more than the primary characters. That brought it up to about a 2&12 star read for me. However, the villain seemed to be pulled straight out of a Disney cartoon. Ursula and Cruella had nothing on this lady. But unfortunately, that just added to the overall dissatisfaction of what has the bones to be a really good story. The primary plot that the blurb refers to was wrapped up approximately two thirds of the way through the book so that left a LOT of time devoted to a meandering series of events until the eventual, inevitable happy ending. While I enjoyed some of that the book could really use to be tightened up. Eliminating the lengthy monologues from the characters, cutting scenes that didn't seem to serve any real purpose and toning down the characters' monstrous egos would go a long way toward improving the basic story. Even the epilogue seemed to go on ad nauseum.
I appreciate having had the opportunity to read this and wish the author future success but sadly, I can't recommend this one.
***ARC Copy giving for an honest review*** It is no secret that I am a fan of C.J. Fallowfield's books. I have been since the day I picked up New Leaves No Strings. She has the ability to tell a story and make you feel EVERY emotion of the characters. She has done it again with The Temptress. Dominant Frenchman Luc and the exotically beautifully Lulu draw you into their one night of passionate, steamy and unforgettable love. Luc knows from the moment he sees Lulu in a bar that they are destined to "mate". It takes some time to convince Lulu, but once he does their coming together is explosive!! Luc dominating personality and french talking is smoking hot!!! After their night together Lulu leaves Luc in the bed and takes off thinking that what just happened can't be "real". Unbeknownst to her she has something that will tie her to Luc forever. After six years of comparing every man to Luc, their paths cross again. Lulu is now a successful business woman of Sweet Temptation, a business that specializes in exposing cheating spouses. She is hired by Mrs. Le Grand to find proof that her husband is cheating. When Lulu goes to meet her mark she discovers that it is non other than her hot one night stand Luc Le Grand. Six years has not extinguished the hot chemistry between them... What happens next are a series of page turning events that will take you through the entire spectrum of emotions....from hot and bothered to spitting fire mad, to tears of happiness!!! This is a definite must read!!!!
I have been lucky enough to be gifted this fabulous ARC in return for an honest review. Just when I thought that CJ Fallowfield could not possibly write yet another awesome book with a swoon worthy hot alpha in it, I was wrong. She has given us the brilliant Austin series, For the Night series, 31 days series and now The Temptress, with every book CJ just gets better and better. This time the book contains a hot, sexy as sin French man, full of passion, love, dominance, romance and the list goes on. From the moment you start reading the book it captivates you and pulls you in, from the start I was hooked. The chemistry between Lulu and Luc jumps straight off the pages. The story follows Lulu who is on a mini break in Paris with her best friend and brother. Whilst in Paris she meets Luc in a club and they both share an unforgettable night together that will change both their lives forever. Circumstances mean that they lose each other and for years neither can forget each other. Six years later fate ensures that they meet up but not as they expect. Lulu runs a honey trap business and her target is Mr Le Grand. Little did she know that he is the Luc that she once lost. Can Lulu carry on with the honey trap and what will her fluke encounter mean for her business and her heart. This book is a heartfelt, sexy, passionate romantic epic love story that you cannot miss and WILL NOT FORGET ABOUT.

C J is a completely new author to me, and after reading this, I cannot believe it's taken me this long to find her !!
This is a standalone novel, that spans a few years. I so thoroughly enjoyed their story. It is well written and set at a good pace. When the story begins, Luc is the dominant, sexy, wonderfully dirty mouthed Frenchman and Lulu is a breathtakingly beautiful but slightly naive young woman. Lulu sets herself and her life lots of rules to follow. Rules are meant to be broken, aren't they ? One romantic day and a very erotic night later is all it takes to change the course of their future. Do you believe in fate ? Fate can be a fickle friend and different paths are chosen, all be it reluctantly. When they are thrust unexpectedly together 5 years later, expect fireworks.
This is a sexy and hot piece of writing with fantastic laugh out loud banter, not only between the two protagonists but also her friends and family. The story has intrigue and angst. In fact it has it all !
What are you waiting for ? Jump in and download it, you won't regret it .
A sizzling one night stand with a hot, dominant Frenchman in Paris left Lulu McQueen reeling and had a profound impact on both of them. She lost his number and returned to Paris in an attempt to find him, with no success. Lulu fights her feelings for him, which haven't faded over the years, but is she the one tempting him, or is it the other way around? Another epic story from my favourite author. She doesn't disappoint with the sizzling story of Lulu and Luc. Although a strong alpha male he also shares a softer side with Lulu and his ever growing family. A fantastic supporting team of characters that will appear in the next book. Loved everything about this book - how it flowed, the pace, the depth of the characters and the love story. Well done CJ.
This is a new author for me and one I will definitely be following from now on. Loved this book! It had me in tears at time and laughing out loud other times. Loved the main characters, Luc and Lulu, as well as Dom and Coco. I immediately bought Coco’s story as soon as I finished this. Can’t wait to start reading it.
The Temptress is quite a comprehensive novel that spans some years, initially taking place in France and then shifting to England. Its genre sits firmly within the bounds of New Adult and Erotica and CJ has penned a story that the reader will find extremely hard not to love. It’s no secret that I’m a CJ Fallowfield fan and I feel like I have walked her journey as she writes each piece of work. I see a maturity in her characters and storylines; she breathes life into them, grasps your imagination and runs with you so that you can’t really help becoming immersed in her world. To say that CJ is an author not to be ignored would be an understatement. And need I mention the cover? It speaks for itself doesn’t it? Beautifully classy, this is how her main characters are in this.
The Temptress is something akin to the 31 Days duology in the fact that it is a full novel and a standalone. What I particularly liked about it was the way in which it was written. A lot of authors go for the suspenseful angle, keeping you guessing, tearing your hair out at times but not CJ, at least not in The Temptress. There are no massive cliff hanger chapters; the story is laid out with each chapter serving as pieces to the bigger picture. Yes, the reader does have to think about things and personally I like this way of reading as much as a really twisty head scratcher. It makes the story flow better, doesn’t tangle you in knots! CJ also incorporates characters from her other series in most of her books and this is no exception, I love when I read about them as I get a sense of familiarity that feels like home. Does that make sense?
It’s definitely erotic, but good erotic. It’s not a smutty read and this is where CJ sets herself apart. Combining a very good story and erotica can often be a difficult thing to do. I haven’t seen it on many occasions but this author has a knack for getting it just right. There’s plenty of action going on, and yes some of it is x rated but a very beautiful way. It’s descriptive to say the least.
The characters are something else. A little larger than life and I found I could connect with Lulu right off the bat. But here is where I struggled with Luc, I didn’t get that all important hook with him at the beginning. He seemed like an arrogant cocky Frenchman with a little too much self-confidence. He is definitely a character that grows on you however and it really doesn’t take long for the reader to fall under his spell, much the same as Lulu. Personally I really struggle with a character that is portrayed as having an accent; I’ve previously read books that were ruined because of this. I find myself trying to emulate that accent in my head as I read and it’s difficult for me to move past. I managed to do so with Luc but when it came to a large section of dialogue with him speaking I found myself doing it again. Suffice to say that whilst I had a little struggle, it by no means marred the story for me and this pleased me greatly. I liked both main characters very much, and with a slew of absolutely wonderful secondary characters it made for a very interesting dynamic when it comes to the relationships involved in this story. I’m pleased to see that some of these characters will get their own story; I’m seriously excited for that.
Tristan was an interesting addition but he was an absolute must in this story. And some of the heart melting moments that this book gives revolve around this little boy! His fascination with all things elephant was adorable and I couldn’t help but think it had a little bit of pun intended there. After all Tristan was the elephant in the room for Lulu on many occasions. The emotion is all there, and in spades. I think this is the first time that CJ has reduced me to full blown tears. That’s not to say that she doesn’t write emotionally as she does, but it was some of the little moments that were so very profound to me, to the point I felt them down to my very soul. I relish that feeling when I read a book and to have one of my favourite authors elicit that in me was truly amazing. This is why I read…..
This took a dark turn that I really wasn’t expecting, I was extremely surprised at that but it was written with class and not glorified, it served to further the story and I think CJ handled that fantastically. It added another angle to an already rich and beautiful story. A story of love over time, against all odds. With dual POV and a complete story there really isn’t anything not to love about The Temptress. If you haven’t read any of this authors work you have a myriad of tales to choose from and I would suggest getting right on it, you don’t know what you’re missing!
5 wonderful, amazing stars from me. I couldn’t award any less for a truly magical piece of work that leaves you with a beautifully warm feeling in your heart long after you finish reading it!
As a fan of Ms. Fallowfield’s For the Night series I was excited to get the chance to read more of her work and The Temptress proved to be just as enjoyable of a read. I found the way in which the author began the book by alternating chapters in the present with those from the past worked well to set the stage for the conflict that would play out later in the book. We were afforded a view of Lulu today and how she compared to the Lulu of six years ago and how her personal life came to be what it is. This not only helped me to connect with her character, but gave me a perspective into her mindset as she was torn between whether or not she could allow herself to fall in love with Luc.
I found the concept of Lulu’s business intriguing and the scene in the beginning when she had to fire one of her employees for breaking one of the company’s most important rules illustrated how seriously she took her venture. It was because of her standards that I found myself shocked when she accepted Mrs. Le Grand’s assignment – actively enticing a man to cheat is one thing, but to be willing to fabricate evidence seemed to be the antithesis of Lulu’s business model and contrary to what I had learned of her character up to then. Yet it was necessary for the story to move forward and provide an opportunity for Luc to reenter her life. As Luc tries to convince Lulu that they deserve a future together, she does her best to stick to her convictions to not get involved with a married man – not even one who is in a loveless marriage of convenience and who has never once cheated on his wife. The alternating past-present format provides the reader the opportunity to be seduced by Luc as Lulu was and to experience the sizzling attraction between them and compare it to the way they respond to one another in the present. Not to mention we were treated their first night together and it was HAWT!!! It seems as though Luc may have been cut from a similar cloth as Logan Steele when it came to sexual prowess and his willingness to exert his will to get what he wanted – and I loved it. The inclusion of chapters from Luc’s point of view enriched the story for me immensely as I got to see how he dealt with the various obstacles that appeared as they worked toward an eventual future together. And the showdown with Mrs. Le Grand at the end of the book was tremendously pleasing to watch. There is another relationship that is built in The Temptress that I won’t explain because of spoiler issues, but its development tugged at my heartstrings several times.
My only real complaint about the book is that I found Lulu’s surprise at Mrs. Le Grand’s “trump card” a tad unbelievable. With Lulu running an investigation firm and making use of background checks on a regular basis, the thought that she would not expect an obscenely wealthy woman as connected as Mrs. Le Grand not to have run a background check and investigation on her didn’t ring true. Other than that minor detail, I found the book to be a real treat to read. I also liked that the author included cameos from a few characters from the For the Night series and did so in such a way that fans of that series will enjoy seeing them again, yet those who have not read it will not feel as though they’re missing out on any backstory. And I’m glad that I read Ménage for the Night prior to this book so that I had a better appreciation of who Trey was. The Temptress was a wonderfully stimulating erotic romance and I look forward to catching up with Coco, Hunter, and Dominic in All That Glisters.
I received a complimentary copy of the book in exchange for an honest review. Reviewed by Angela at Crystal's Many Reviewers!
Firstly I'd like to say thank you to CJ for allowing reading the sheets to read an ARC of this amazing book.
Ok, so I finished reading this book over a week ago, and it's taken me until now to wrote a review. Is it because it was bad? Absolutely not. It was breathtaking. I normally rush right in and write a review and then amend it later on, but this time I wanted to really think about what I wanted to write and do it properly first time.
Lulu - lulu is the genius behind 'sweet temptations', the honey trap agency that specialises in helping unhappy men and women snare their partner in the act of cheating. Lulu has 1 rule however, DO NOT SLEEP WITH THE CLIENT. This is a rule she cannot waiver on. The very bones of her business will crumble if any of her girls, and one gorgeous man, falter from this. At home, lulu is a beautiful mum who dotes on her little boy, Tristan. Tristan is the reason she does what she does, so she can create a warm, loving home for her little man. As she is on her own, she has to be the provider for Tristan and she has no qualms in keeping men out the way and devoting her time to Tristan and work. Lulu does occasionally date, but she has a strict 3 month rule. If the guy sticks around after 3 months, she'll take the next stage and sleep with them, and if they pass that stage, depending on their skills in the bedroom, she'll finally let them meet her wonderful little boy. Unfortunately for Lulu, no one has ever passed the test, well except for one guy, who she threw the rule book out the window, laid caution to the wind and had one amazing night with. However, that was 6 years ago and Prince Charming isn't about to ride in on a white horse and sweep her off her feet, so maybe Lulu will have to settle for mediocre after all.
Luc is a French stud. He is master of the office and the bedroom. He runs his business with an iron fist, getting everything he wants and peril the idea of anyone getting in his way. His sexual appetite is the same, he is a generous lover but rarely sees a person twice before becoming bored and looking for his next conquest. With the gift of a gorgeous smile, dimples, scintillating brown eyes and a sexy French accent, there's no one Luc can't get, but when a brazen Lulu steps into his world, with her 3 month rule and her sexy Amber eyes, will her and Luc ever make it happen? And if they do, will they make it work?
This book excited me tremendously. The characters had real backbone and you could imagine bumping into them in the street. CJ makes you care for them, nurture them, and then pray that they can see what's right infront of their faces. In some parts of this book I wanted to take Lulu and shake her so she could wake up and see she had a good thing going, but this made me love her even more. I loved the bond she had with Her best friend and twin brother, and I'm secretly hoping we have a spin off for both of their characters too, as I fell for Dom hard! Trust me, being gay, and openly so, won't put you off this spunky, cocky, gorgeous man. This is another scorcher from CJ and if you haven't read it already, you should have. Any book that keeps you coming back for more, is worth 1-clicking!
The Temptress by CJ Fallowfield is a fun, funny, sexy book.
Lulu McQueen runs an exclusive honeytrap business. She has earned her nickname of The Temptress. While her business life is amazing, her personal life could use some work. After a one night stand in Paris her life has never been the same.
It did not take long for me to be sucked into the story in the best way possible. This was a fast-paced book full of well developed characters and intricate plot lines. Lulu had a great back story which included amazing, supporting characters. The banter and humor are great, the sex is white hot and panty dropping. I may have even considered changing panties a time or two.
The HEA was the perfect bonus! I’m going to be that girl who says: this book had the perfect amount of dirty sex, sweetness and love for me! Isn’t that what every girl wants?!?! This is one my first reads by CJ and I will be picking up more soon! ~ Heather, 4 stars

Dirty talking, arrogant, dominant Frenchman? Check. Super sexy, amber eyed, fun-loving girl? Check. Hot, kinky one-night stand in Paris? Double check.
Luc Le Grand and Lulu McQueen meet one night in a bar in Paris. He is determined to have her, and had her easily caving to her “no one-night stands” rule quickly. The attraction and chemistry between the two is off the charts scorching!!
“I am not leaving until you change your mind. I cannot leave. I have to be inside you, Lulu. I have never felt such desperation to claim a woman as I have for you. I need to taste your need for me, to have you ride my face as I drown in you, to grasp those perfect cheeks of your backside as I fuck you against the wall…”
I mean who can resist that?!?
It’s only one night, or is it? It takes six years and an evil bitchy wife for them to cross paths again. But once they do, it’s like they were never apart. Luc and Lulu are perfect together. They are so sexually compatible, but they are also emotionally compatible. Luc has the perfect words, whether dirty or sweet depending on the situation.
“I told you, you are my purpose in life, Lulu McQueen. I came from nothing, I could live with nothing again if I had to.”
They have many trials and tribulations throughout their relationship, and at times it did feel just a little too perfect, but I loved the love they had for one another. ~ Tiffany, 4 stars

CJ Fallowfield has the fantastic ability, well a few actually. She not only has the skills to pull you into story from the get go, but she keeps you there, reading and reading until you just don’t want the book to end. She also has the skills to develop amazing characters, plot lines, dialogue and in depth scenes. This book had everything, hot sex, aww moments, hold your breath moments and teary eyed moments. I absolutely loved it. I am a huge fan of this lady and her books.
The Characters.
Lulu: She’s feisty, fun, funny and sexy. She runs her own ‘Honey Trap’ business. Clients employ her services to trap men and women who intend on cheating on their partners.
Six years prior she has a one night stand with a fabulously sexy Frenchman called Luc, since that episode in her life, she’s been unable to forget him and the way he makes her feel. No man since has ever shaped up in comparison. But this little lady has a secret…. (I’m not telling). For six years she’s longed to see him again, she’s longed to feel him again.
Luc: He’s sexy, dominant, protective and his French accent could make women’s knickers drop at twenty paces. He loves the women, but he is honest and faithful. He has a dark past, a tale of sorrow and heartache. But he’s become a successful businessman and turned his life around.
Secondary Characters.
Violet is Lulu’s PA, receptionist and friend. I laughed out loud reading her dialogue with Lulu. An amazing character, especially when Myrtlle is found out. The horse jokes are amazing!! Look out for those… wink, wink, nudge, nudge. Dom is Lulu’s gay brother. He does not mince his words and he loves his sister with a passion. Another fabulous character. Coco, Lulu’s friend with Italian heritage is funny, witty and just like her best friend, she’s feisty. I want to read a book about her. So I was glad to learn that there will be a book about Coco and Dom coming 2016.
This is a fantastic book, great writing, with original plot and characters. A truly well deserved 5 stars!
