The Hemingway Notes is a good adventure short story written by Michael J. Tucker. When the narrator arrived in Cuba with his friend Denny, they had in their possession a letter from their college professor requesting an interview with Ernest Hemingway. Fortunately for them the locals in the town are able to direct them to the Hemingway farmhouse since they did not speak or understand English. Upon arrival at the Hemingway home, they immediately spotted Hemingway sitting at his desk typing a manuscript. Nearly run off by his house keeper, he read their letter and the students were able to spend an unspecified amount of time interviewing Hemingway, who asked them to call him Poppa.

The story seems to switch from one scene to the next: the beach, Hemingway's home, then a Cuban jail! The students find themselves in a pretty tight situation, their Hemingway notes are mistaken for something else by Cuban officials, their memories of the afternoon were hazy due to alcohol consumption. Many thanks to the author for the e-ARC for the purpose of review.
