The COMPLETE Gone trilogy ~ Available in ebook and paperback Over 125 reviews on the individual books.
Macy Mercer only wants a little independence. Eager to prove herself grown up, she goes to a dark, secluded park. She’s supposed to meet the boy of her dreams who she met online. But the cute fifteen year old was a fantasy, his pictures fake. She finds herself face to face with Chester Woodran, a man capable of murder.
Distraught over his own missing daughter, Chester insists that Macy replace his lost girl. He locks Macy up, withholds food, and roughs her up, demanding that she call him dad. Under duress from his constant threats and mind games, her hold on reality starts to slip. Clinging to her memories is the only way of holding onto her true identity, not believing that she is Chester’s daughter. Otherwise she may never see her family again.
This trilogy will take you through all three books to the conclusion.
Stacy Claflin writes about complex women overcoming incredible odds. Whether it's her Gone trilogy of psychological thrillers, her ongoing Transformed paranormal saga, or her Seaside Hunters sweet romance series, Stacy's three-dimensional heroines shine through.
Decades after she wrote her first stories on construction paper and years after typing on an inherited green screen computer that weighed half a ton, Stacy realized her dream of becoming a full-time author.
When she's not busy writing or educating her kids from home, Stacy enjoys watching TV shows like Supernatural, Pretty Little Liars, and Once Upon a Time.
Started off well, but much of the story was juvenile and repetitive. A lot of material that was not needed....long-winded in places. Could have been much better.
Wow! I am amazingly happy to have gotten this trilogy. If I had to wait between books it might have killed me! The main story is about a teenage girl who goes to meet a boy she had been chatting with online and ends up abducted. This is Macy's story. Her father, Chad has a secret he is dealing with while trying to find his daughter and keep his family together. Alyssa is her mom. I started out feeling bad for her but as I got to know her sympathy was replaced with some anger. I am mixed on how I feel about her now. Then there is Alex, Macy's brother, and her best friend, Zoey, who tell how things were with them before and after Macy goes missing. They have an interesting story to tell. Other characters are Chester, the kidnapper, his daughter, Heather, his parents, then Rusty, Luke, Rebekah and other minor ones. I think the characters were well done. Some parts of they story were hard for me to swallow, (missing 1/2 star). The trilogy contained a few errors of using the wrong letter in a word and a couple of sentences that made no sense no matter how many times I read them, (those two sentences are where the other 1/2 star goes missing. I forgive a lot but when my mind gets stuck trying to figure out what the author is saying I deduct). I do want to say that even though I deducted the star, it is still an amazing story. It held me captive and took me through several emotions. It is a book I will be recommending. The message teens would get about internet safety makes it worth reading. Actually, in this time of social media dependence and over sharing, the message is a valid one for some adults too. I would recommend reading this as a buddy read, (parent and child), as it would bring up many issues and provide opportunities to impart your family values and hear what your teen thinks. Just try to keep your mind open and non judgmental when listening to them. Teens are more likely to listen to you when they know you are really listening to them. The book truly does provide an opportunity to discuss many things other than internet safety. Things like bullying, teen sex and teen pregnancy. I was really impressed with this author's writing skills and I will be reading more from her.
This is the story of teen Macy Mercer who meets a boy online and goes to meet him only to find that he is not a boy, but a man named Chester, who abducts her. I read this for a book club. I'm glad I waited until after the book club discussion to review the book. I learned that the author likes the show "Pretty Little Liars" which gave me a lot of perspective as to the style of writing and the crazy (almost unbelievable) story lines she used in this book. This perspective, and realizing it was supposed to be for young adult audiences, made me give it a higher rating than I had planned to. If you are over 25, this book is probably not going to appeal to you.If you are a preteen or a teen (especially if you love shows like PLL) you will love this book. The author could easily write for a show such as PLL! One side note : this book had more typos and mistakes in it than any book I have ever read. It is a self-published book, but I have no idea WHAT her editor was thinking! The abundance of typos and mistakes was very distracting.
What an interesting trilogy. And what is scary is that things like this actually happen. Macy is a 15 year old girl. She's only got 1 true friend. She was over weight and bullied alot in school. So going online and meeting a boy seemed normal. She makes a plan to meet him. But then she gets a text from the boy asking her to meet his dad. That his dad will bring her to him. At first she's leery, but the guy seems nice and harmless. She couldn't be farther from the truth. Chester has kidnapped her and expects her to be his missing daughter Heather. She must answer to Heather and call him dad. So begins her life of horror. She struggles, but soon discovers that it puts her at risk for beatings, and withdrawal of food, water, and sunlight. With each book you see the mind of a madman. And we see Macy struggle to remain who she is. From the other side, we see her parents and friend come to grips with her disappearance. It is real and touching all the emotions they go through. A great trilogy that reminds you things like this happen all the time.
It has been six years since I read this boxset and before I realized readers can leave reviews, so I don't remember much about it. The set as a whole was good and I enjoyed reading it. The entire story takes three books to find out how it ends. So there are cliffhangers, which I do not like. I would never have read these books individually without this boxset because of the cliffhangers. Unlike a lot of the other readers, I know these books are fiction, created entirely in the author's imagination. This held my interest and I could handle the characters. But I don't like the fact it takes three books to tell the story. I was taught in school one book has a beginning, middle and end. As a whole, the boxset was good and held my interest.
I had read the first book some time ago and was not happy that the story left me hanging. When I found the trilogy however, I bought it. I re read the first book and then continued on through the next two. Macy is kidnapped when sneaks out of the house to meet a boy she had been talking to online. However to her surprise and dismay she finds out that she has been talking to an older man. He takes her hours from her home and keeps her locked up in a storm cellar until she agrees to call him Dad and to answer to the name Heather. Heather is his daughter's name. Good books they really kept me interested.
How do I begin to review one of the BEST novels I have ever read? 5 stars is not enough, I need 10. Stacy Claflin brings us through several story lines. Weaving us through each one with deliberate care with detailed attention to character development. Adult and teen was written as individuals yet each with their faults and heroic characteristics. I've raised 4 teenagers. Each one could be the characters Ms. Claflin describes. I've already read Dean's List and I've already ordered No Return. Too bad I can't enter more. I could write a more glowing review.
I read the entire Gone Trilogy this week and I loved it! I think that Stacy Claflin did a great job with the story and didn't leave out even small details.
Macy is a young girl with some self-esteem issues...she meets a *boy* online and sneaks out for a date. Macy's *boy* is a very disturbed man and he kidnaps her.
Without going into detail and spoiling the story...I had to read all three books in a week because i had to know what was next!
When I finished the third book...I was upset at the ending, feeling like there were loose ends..BUT..I then discovered that Stacy Claflin has stand alone novels that address each of the loose ends that bugged me! I am now reading those!
I liked the first book Gone but naturally since it was a trilogy it left you without closure, so I purchased the other two - Held and Over. Held was unnecessary because too many unnecessary elements were added. Macy became Juliette meeting her Romeo at the cult farm. Alex gets Zoey pregnant - do the parents need more things to compound their life. And in the third book, the nurse from the mental hospital that Heather is in - mistakes Macy as an escapee from the mental hospital and with the police there she takes Macy "back" to the hospital where she meets the real Heather. Some things are not plausible even in fiction.

This story shows why there is too much information on the internet and how easy it is to fall into a a tragedy. I was disappointed in the ending. No closure! . Macy Mercer only wants a little independence. Eager to prove herself grown up, she goes to a dark, secluded park. She’s supposed to meet the boy of her dreams who she met online. But the cute fifteen year old was a fantasy, his pictures fake.
This trilogy is amazing! It it so close to real life you feel like a neighbor. You cry when the characters cry and can really feel their pain, stress, heartache, and joy. Can't count how many times I wanted to climb through the tablet screen and beat the daylights out of Chester. Glad everyone came together in the end. Only issue I had was the number of typos but the story made up for that. Sorry they seem to jump off the page at me.
Was this intended to be a series for adults? I read the first book and thought it was useful in that it might be used as a segue into a discussion with teens about the dangers of internet relationships. Books two and three desinigrated rapidly. Too much unbelievable stuff. Chester seems like a psychic, always appearing in front of Macy. It becomes unbelievable and boring. It's repetitious and frankly unimaginative. Might make a great story for mid teens.
This is a very good thriller series. I read the first in the series and had to find out what happened to Macy so bought the rest of the series. Macy is a young teenager who is kidnapped and lives through horrendous abuse and living arrangements. Her brother Alex and her girlfriend Zoey are well developed characters who have their own stories as do her mother and father. I thoroughly enjoyed this series and would read more from this author.
Don't normally write reviews but wanted to give my incite on this one. The book started out good and held my interest. Toward the end the decision making on the main character was ridiculous and unbelievable. Finished the book and was glad that things were wrapped up for the main character but I wouldn't include this one in my "must read" category
A young girl is fooled online by an older man who kidnaps her. Unfortunately, this is something that can happen to anyone. The book touches on real family. The author shows both the good and the ugly sides of family dynamics. Most of the time, you know what's going to happen next, but this author had me on the edge of my chair. I had a hard time putting it down
Fantastic trilogy. I only wish I had read this before having read the Gone Girl series as those are kinda a spoiler for this series seeing as how they take place 12 yrs after this series.
Regardless. I fell in love with the characters and found myself in tears more than once as I shared their journey.
I first read “Girl in Trouble “ and love it. so when I saw there was another book “Gone” I had to read it but didn’t expect it not ending with Macy being found. So, I had to know what happened and I purchased the whole series. It kept me wanting to know what happened next. A very good, suspenseful series. Will recommend it to all my friends.
This trilogy sucks you in quickly! I took a chance on an author unknown to me and it really paid off. Stacy Claflin has a way with words, making you feel as if you are a part of the story. Once completing the first book, I knew I had to read the rest. Very descriptive, true to life, and wonderfully written. Thank you for an amazing read!
I enjoyed reading this. The way the first two stories ended made me glad that I had the trilogy. It was a relatively fast read, although for some reason I haven't been reading as much as I usually do. If you can get the trilogy all at once it would be much better than trying to read them separately with time in between.
I don't usually buy books but after reading GONE, I bought this box set and am so glad I did. While a tragic story, I fell in love with most characters and storyline was completely believable. I am so looking forward to more from this author. Will definitely recommend to family friends and fellow readers.
I usually try to stay away from books that involve children being kidnapped or murdered. I didn’t know which would happen in this book honestly but it kept showing up on my list to read so I decided to give it a try. I’m glad I did. It pulled every emotion out of me. Had me at the edge of my seat throughout.
I enjoyed this series so much, the only reason for the four stars is because you're forced to buy the next books. This is the only series I've ever read where each book was not a stand alone story. Aside from that, it was great. Each book was a real page turner, and you grow to really care about the characters. Except for Chester obviously.
I loved these books. I believe they would be a good teaching tool In every young teenagers life. Teenage girls are very easily influenced by the cute boys. They are at the age that their parents guidance is now at the nagging controlling stage. So they are looking for love in all the wrong places and the major worst place is the internet.
this was very interesting.. the story.. the characters.. the things that she goes through when abducted.. the trials and horrors.. plus everything the family goes through also.. there are some things left unanswered n my opinion but overall this wasnt a bad story and i enjoyed it a lot
Fantastic piece of writing. It looks at the view of each person close to Macy, including her own. Their thoughts and reactions to her disappearance, the guilt, the hindsight. The series took me 2 days to read as I didn't want to put it down. Looking forward to reading the side stories.
I prob would have enjoyed more when i was younger. I definitely was annoyed by the typos but initially i couldnt put the book down. By the end though a few things were a little hard to believe, but i was turning the pages until the end.
From the first page to the last you don't want to put this book down. Well written , with misspellings in the last book. Would recommend this for anyone who loves a great thriller.
I enjoyed the story, as well as all of the other Alex Mercer stories, however this one has so many typos that it got a bit distracting at times. There must not have been any editing done before publishing.
Loved all 3 books and really kept you reading. Although the second one did take me a little longer to get hooked it was worth it! Can't wait to start some more of Stacy Claflin books 😊
