Bonjour, my name is André Chevalier. It has been my joy and my great honor to help those who have lost their way. Not long after I began my journey, I met two such wounded souls.

Renata Koreman, my little mouse. She came to me as a child—shy, mute, injured… broken. It took oh-so many years to start to bring her back to herself! Yet, I could not fully heal her.

Years later, Grant Wilkinson, he too fell into my hands. The ex-Army Ranger was badly disfigured and saw himself as a monster. Isolated by secrets, solitary and self-contained, his colleagues affectionately named him ‘Frosty.’ Yet, how should one behave when besieged by a lifetime of confusion and guilt?

The moment I saw him, I thought of her and I wondered. The eyes, they cannot always see clearly. And the heart? Ah, the heart can only guess at the truth. So it was that I remained uncertain.

Could the mouse and the monster heal each other?

An avalanche of strong emotions fills my heart after reading this....

Please be WARNED the subject matter is extremely sensitive this being said....I have to say this book is excellently executed.

I won't lie...this left me within my own labyrinthine of thoughts.

Well, what can I say...the star of the book for me was André Chevalier. I could have definitely hopped on the therapists couch for him what a EXTRAORDINARY character.....I loved the whole french accent thingy I had going on in my head. I loved he's exuberance, and the way he connected with the other characters was fascinating.

“Take heart, my friend,” he says quietly, in his soothing velvet voice. “Do not despair. You simply move one step and then another. You keep going. Before you know it,” he snaps his fingers. “Voila. You have arrived. It took more than one day to arrive at this dark place, no? It will take more than one day to escape from here.” ~ Andre

From the opening page this was ME.....

Right up to the very end....jaw droppingly in awe of the whole story of Grant Wilkinson, and Renata Koreman as they face the struggles of their pasts.

I also have to mention sweet Joshuha....sweet adorable Josh *sigh*

The only reason I'm not giving this 5 Stars is that I felt the last 15% was a little rushed.

I can't wait to continue on with this incredible story.

To Nikki Sex I applaud you....Blew. Me. Away.

“Abuse? Ah. Such problems, even with time, do not go away on their own. They must be addressed.”

My initial reaction to this read still stands....
My brain hurts. My emotions are all jumbled up.
Not at all what I expected and yet a very meaningful and heartfelt read.

Days later I find myself still analyzing my thoughts on this book. How the author was able to create such a gut wrenching story is beyond me. Abuse is moving on a deep emotional level. You must prepare yourself for the pain in order to appreciate the beauty in the healing. I feel it is critical to mention that this book includes many triggers. If you are a sensitive reader, you should be aware the content of this book includes .

description

"It seems to me that I deserve every single scar I have."

Grant is a physically and emotionally damaged man. He has plenty of money and a family and yet he is stuck in a deep state of depression. Fancy cars and plenty of money can't replace the heartbreak in his life. He seeks help by meeting with a therapist named Andre. Andre is able to tear down Grant's fortress of pain. When the secrets begin to unfold, they are heartbreaking.

"The outside of my body suits me. One-half looks fine; the other looks like Hell. Poetic justice, as I see it. Somehow, it seems like a direct reflection of what’s inside."

Andre is such an easy going man. He seems to be able to gauge when to push and when to pull. He offers a free flowing therapy and Grant begins to make progress towards healing.

“Take heart, my friend,” he says quietly, in his soothing velvet voice. “Do not despair. You simply move one step and then another. You keep going. Before you know it,” he snaps his fingers. “Voila. You have arrived. It took more than one day to arrive at this dark place, no? It will take more than one day to escape from here.”-Andre

One of the more striking realizations for me while reading this book was how abuse causes a ripple effect in the waters of a victim's life. The act might happen once and yet the after shock continues forever.

“Such a child must then live a lonely life of bitter uncertainty, constantly moving back and forth, between joy and despair.”-Andre

description

This book evokes so many questions. Why do people act the way that they do? Do we realize how deeply we effect others with our choices? Why do people abuse? What happens to the children and their children and so on and so on???

“All people, whatever they are doing, no matter how crazy or irrational it seems to you… it is how they need to act— from their perspective. I do not justify or rationalize an individual’s behavior— no. I simply tell you there is always a reason.”-Andre

description

“A child, without toxic interference, will naturally become the person they are meant to be.”-Andre

Andre has also offered healing to a young girl. Renata came to Andre after her family abandoned her. She had been living on the streets and was desperate to fill the void of her pain with sex. Andre offers her a home and a place to heal. Renata finds peace in working as a sexual therapist. I actually googled "sexual therapy" and found that most practices of that therapy is a "talk" type therapy and not a physical act done to help a person heal. However, Renata is employed by Andre to help people deal with their sexual hang ups. Of course, it would make sense for Andre to put Renata and Grant together.

“Listen to me very carefully. I have chosen to place two damaged people together in the hope they may heal each other.”-Andre

When Renata and Grant come together, it is painfully obvious there is going to be more between them then sex. For me, this is when the story really began to take off. Unfortunately, it was towards the end of the read. This only means I will have to continue to the next book if I want more of Grant and Renata.

Overall, Abuse was a very special read. I struggled through every single page because of the emotional pull it had my heart. The writing was fluid and yet the tempo was moderate to slow. I would have liked for there to have been more of Renata and Grant together and yet I suppose we needed every single word of this book in order to understand the true torment of these characters. I am sure that I will continue reading this series. I want more of Grant and Renata's story. There was a slight cliffy in this read and yet I didn't find it too bothersome. If you like an emotional and dark read then this is the book for you.

André Chevalier shines in this one! I think ABUSE may be my BEST book yet. Seriously, I put my all into this one, guys! I've worked with victims of abuse in a professional capacity. What happens in this book is a combination of TRUE STORIES. I hope it touches you as much as it touched me.

4 stars

This book is broken down into 3 parts.

The 1st part is about 'The Monster', Grant, the male MC.
This part I loved. You really get into Grant's head and he really digs his way into your heart.

The 2nd part is about Renata 'The Mouse', our female MC.
While I loved most of this, the last few chapters in her part have repetition & I abhor repetition. Her story will also get to you. The last few chapters though cost this story a partial star due to my abhorrence of the repetition I mentioned above. It slows everything down.

Up to that point the flow was great & moved beautifully.

The 3rd part is about both Renata & Grant. Their interaction with each other.
While I loved most of it, there is a lot more repetition and I did NOT like the way it ended. It felt ........ Contrived. Rushed. Awkward. I felt like there should have been another chapter and the whole conversation had an 'Unfinished' or 'Unrefined' quality to it.

The repetition and this last scene is what caused the most loss of stars.

This story is very 'Mentally' & emotionally weighty. It is compelling to say the least. While I would recommend it to my friends who love adult romance, I would be very careful to watch for triggers. There are a lot of them in this story.

Do not go into reading this book lightly!

I recommend you have a light, funny, fluffy story ready to read for when you are done with this. You will be 'Perplexed' (to steal a GR friends word), 'Disconcerted' and even 'Bewildered'.
This story is 'VERY' complex. Psychologically Mind Bending.

It is definitely an adult read with intimate scenes. The subject matter and the triggers that this story deals with should not be in the hands of the immature. I will not put an age on that.

This ends on a cliffhanger & I forgot about that before I started reading it. I HATE CLIFFHANGERS!

I was going to wait a long time before I started reading the 2nd book in this 'Trilogy', but now that my brain has reset itself I have changed my mind. I will continue it in the near future.

Don't say you haven't been warned. This book will Scramble your Brain.

This book wasn't for me. I dived in hoping to get a dark and twisted story, but what I got was far from it. It's my first book by this author and it was hot at times, even if the author tried to point out some forms of abuse. But I got bored on the way and I actually can't believe I finished it. I am not interested in what happens next. What I know for sure is that I cannot connect to this story. Just adding it to my reading challenge 😉

This is the first book in this trilogy, and it ends on a pretty big cliffhanger. The story is about Grant, a man who has lived with dark secrets and emotional pain since he can remember. Beyond the internal demons, he also has suffered gruesome burn marks that scare many people away from him on sight; as a result, he is convinced he is an unlovable, unworthy monster. He finds a therapist (Andre) who utilizes unusual, but effective, methods and feels working with him may be his only chance to live a somewhat normal life. As he opens up to Andre, his long held secrets begin to come to light, and Grant begins to believe that there may be a chance for him to move past these significant obstacles after all.

Andre has other clients, one of whom he has had in his care for many years: Renata. She came to him as a terrified, orphaned, unwanted 17 year old who did not speak at all and trusted no one. Over several years, Andre was able to get her to come more and more out of her shell to where she now serves as a sex surrogate for clients with specific hang-ups related to sex. Andre believes that Grant is one of these clients, so he connects the two and things progress from there.

What I liked:
--- Grant's story was interesting, and the way he revealed his secrets to Andre felt realistic for the type of person he seemed to be and the circumstances he was in
--- Andre is the most fascinating character in the book --- the author doesn't provide enough information about him to really understand what his background/motivations/training/etc. are yet; the mystery makes the reader want to continue on to explore this character more thoroughly

What I didn't like:
--- The way Renata's story was told felt choppy and repetitive; I didn't connect with her as much as I did with Grant
--- There were some things that just didn't make sense

This is a dark read with some heavy aspects and more than unsettling discussion/descriptions of the sexual, emotional, and physical abuse of underage children by trusted adults. If that offends you or might spark a trigger, please do not read.

Plot --- 3/5
Main Characters --- I feel like I need to split them out... Grant --- 4/5; Andre --- 4/5; Renata --- 2.5/5
Supporting Cast --- 3/5
Steam Level --- 3/5
Violence --- as mentioned above, some possible triggers in descriptions of abuse
Language --- Yep
POV --- Dual

Solid 3.5 Stars

Okay, this one started off really well. And for majority of the book actually. I loved how the facts, the clinical facts of Abuse in all forms, how it affects its victims is explained here. The emotional & just gut wrenching events were well written too.

What I have a problem with his how quickly, and I mean quickly the hero & heroine claim to love & be in love with one another after just one day.

Now I have no problems, usually, with insta love. It all depends on how it's delivered. But given the circumstances of both parties involved here, their own personal demons in the aftermath of the wrongs done to them, I find it EXTREMELY hard to believe they could recognize love in one another so quickly & with so little interaction before hand. I believe the intensity, the lust, all that to be there. But the love? NO. Not so soon.

And I also hate how this one was so rushed to come to a close. And it comes with a cliffy. But the way the story is written, how things unfold, you know it's coming long before it happens.
So I can't say that the "cliffy" was a cruel shock or unexpected, like some claim it to be.

But how you get from point A, B, and finally C, comes in just the last 2 chapters. So it makes it all feel choppy & rushed. Didn't like that. Almost like the author got tired of writing the story and just wanted to hurry up and finish it.

So this is why this read wound up with the 3.5 star rating and not the 5 star I saw it getting for majority of the story.

But there were many interesting elements here that I love. So I do plan to continue this series. I have to know how things turn out.

I would recommend this read. It's certainly not what you'd expect. And for the most part, that's a good thing.

Happy Reading :)

After back and forthing for what seemed like forever. I have settled on 3.25 Stars.

I just don't know how to feel.

I was hooked in the beginning, and couldn't get enough of Andre. Parts 2 (Monster and Mouse) is where this fell short for me. I never got invested with them as a couple. There was constant repetition and lagging towards the end, which became distracting to me. Don't even get me started on the Cliff-Hanger.

So I will now go and ponder on if I want to finish this series or not .......

I'm in awe at the research and facts provided in this book about the horrors of different types of abuse and neglect. There was so much to learn about others who have been abused.
The story itself was just not my favorite but rather than leave a bad review I honestly think I was totally off on what I thought this would be like therefore my expectations ruined it for me.
I love to see anyone damaged and hurt overcome and learn to love.
It was fascinating to get to know the tortured souls of Grant and Renata.

Dark doesn't even begin to describe the basis of what this story is made of..

Soulful isn't a strong enough description for the way this story touched my mind not to mention how it messed with my heart..

+ Merciless is only the beginning in how Nikki Sex's writing turned mere words and pages into a never ending consumption of emotions..

I was so consumed by the story, even from the very beginning, that I knew having any sort of shield against my "sane" emotions would be useless when it came to Grant, Renata and Andre. It was so easy to fall for the story. That being said, it was fucking heartbreaking to see all the darkness consuming at the characters minds.

Nikki Sex doesn't hold back. She pushes every damn boundary there is and that is only the bare top layer in starting to develop a powerful story.

Going into this book I knew it will evolve around the darker elements, the sadness and the tears as well as the screams of agony from mental and physical pain.. But I never expected for my heart to literally break into so many pieces that by the middle of the story, I wasn't sure whether I would be the same person as I was when I looked at the cover and decided to flip that first page..

I was right. My fears have come true.

Ending this story, I couldn't have been a more different person even if I tried. Without sugarcoating anything, I think I can so proudly say that this has got to be THE book for me. Even as I am writing this review (which took so many times of putting my hands on the keyboard and trying to type it out but only ended up feeling tears fall between the keys.. I willed myself so many bloody times to write a review, something to make at least half an ounce of justice to the story. But it was so hard. So fucking hard.), I can distinctly remember ever moment my emotions towards Grant flooded over my morality.

Every second that I literally had to hold my heart for dear life over not only what he went through but the RAW EMOTIONS behind them. How the author expressed his pain and darkness in such a simple yet such an effective manner. I honestly teared up and cried like a kid more times than I care to admit.

A part of my very own messed up heart officially belongs to him, Grant, a lost soul with a darkness that felt so good when he had someone to share it with..

Andre. Another word for "hope".

The center point in guiding one broken soul towards a path that might inevitably lead them to another even more messed up one..

Andre made me laugh and cry at the same time because he truly represented the black and white of the story. Or maybe it was the grey part? That part that bonded the broken pieces as well as he could. He was the glue to Grant and Renata's still fractured minds.

I love Andre.

He was that fictional character which you would be so lucky to find even though you thought you weren't looking for. But there he was. The humor filled, strong minded, soulful and bigger than any heart I've ever read or personally that came across.

Abuse isn't a light read. It isn't like any other story you would have come across. That I can be 120% sure about. Trust me, I have read more dark books than should be deemed normal, so when I say this one is at the top, it can only come as an understatement.

I wont explain what happens because the synopsis is there and I think if I begin to explain any part of the story I might end up spoiling the backbone of this breathtaking book. One thing I can do, aside from looking like a crying mess trying to wipe off the smeared mascara right about now? I can reassure you that this story, this book, these characters NEED to be part of your New Years Resolution.

Grant, Andre and Renata are characters that can only be found on those rare occasions, and I am so fucking glad that I found them!!

If you haven't already guessed, ABUSE is officially my #1. Hands down. The one book that I will forever recommend and wish I could read over for the first time..

The prized possession of a story that has reached into my heart and twisted it half which was worth it. All that pain reading into the very individual characters stories was so damn worth it.

Connecting with the characters came second nature.

Connecting with the story was something I shouldn't have done but it just happened.

I shouldn't have done it only because it brought along so many dark, twisted and unforgivable memories and emotions of my very own. But that is never going to be a negative because those are the same emotions as is a smile, a laugh and even love. Yes one is desired more than the other, but emotions are emotions and they come in many forms.

Of the many things that I have learned reading this book and talking with the amazing author? Emotions even the darkest of them out there, are okay. It's okay to cry from happiness or from pain. It's okay to be sad if something didn't go as planned. It's also okay to feel like darkness is consuming part of your mind. And you know why those are okay even though you are probably shaking your head at how absurd it sounds?

It's okay because abuse is not.

Abuse is not okay.

Whether mental or physical ABUSE will NEVER BE OKAY.

No matter how little or short it may last or even how easy it may come to be, it's never okay.

One simple word related to abuse can be the turning point in someones life. What you may see as just another life lesson could be the breaking point for another. So no, it's not okay.

This story has so much going for it. You might think it wouldn't be your cup of tea because you are looking for a light read or it may end up being too dark for your life already filled with minor and major problems. You might even be going through one of the darkest points in your life..

I promise you, what ever your reasons might be in not giving this books a chance, don't listen to them. I promise you one more thing. You will cry, laugh and hold onto your heart more often than you ever had before if you delve into Andre, Grant and Renata's world.

I was addicted from the very beginning and would never ever regret having gone to hell and back reading such a deep and meaningful story. And if that last sentence is too much to take in or if it scared you away, just remember, it's just "fiction" after all right? ;)

Without having to pick up any more tears off my laptop, hands and jumper, or turning into the spoiler zone, I will leave you to your very own tears when you decide to delve into this story..

I couldn't have been more thankful in finding a book that I NEVER expected to end up meaning so much to me. But fucking hell I was a mess closing that last page and no amount of chocolate or wine or boyfriend will be getting these emotions out of my system!!

With an officially broken heart and a mind gone to the other side of sane, I cannot bloody wait for the second part because simple put, I NEED MORE GRANT in my life!!! and Andre of course!

I've written my fair share of hard reviews, those that remind you of the emotions you felt reading that one book which made you a mess. But I think it's fair to say this has been the hardest one yet.. and I haven' even gone through all the quotes..

Till next time, stay tuned for added quotes/excerpts from the story, but for now, just a heads up? Grab a box or three of tissues and your favorite chocolates JUST to be prepared for the beginning. I don't think you will be ready for the entire story but I can reassure you, YOU WILL LOVE every dark inch.

THANK YOU Nikki Sex for creating a story with characters that each hold their very own among a world that should not be okay to occupy anyone's mind. You made it into a story that brings so many emotions, so many feels and so much depth for something made into fiction, that still manages to make it as real as the tear that just escaped my rim red eye.

xx

It's been a very interesting, mind blown journey for sure!!! The two main characters, Grant and Renata, were so well analyzed, that I instantly felt the connection. Abuse in any form it's expressed, physical, mental, sexual, emotional, verbal was the common focal point between Grant and Renata. They came to learn, with Andre's assistance, how to pass over their insecurities and fears from childhood abuse and discover together love and happiness. I didn't expect a cliffhanger when I started it, and now I can't wait for the next installment. That was also my first acquaintance with sexual therapist Andre, whom I truly loved as a matchmaker. The only thing that I didn't enjoy was the erotic relationship between Andre and fragile Renata.

I love, love, loved this! It's my second book in the year and it could do no wrong from start to finish.
"Abuse? Ah. Such problems, even with time, do not go away on their own. They must be addressed."

Abuse is my first book by Nikki Sex and it really blew me away! I will definitely be looking in to other books by the author because I just loved her writing style and story telling abilities. I was gripped right from the start, reading nearly half of it in one sitting.

So what's the gist of the story? Abuse is the story of two tortured souls, brought together by their friend/therapist, André Chevalier. Whilst the book isn't necessarily about André, I loved his character and would gladly read a book, or novella about him. Does one exist? :) His character was just so interesting and I really felt a connection to him whilst reading, regardless of the fact the book wasn't really 'his'. Onto the main characters..
"The actions and emotional responses of others are not your responsibility. You cannot save another from themselves. This is for them to do."

The book starts with us getting to know Grant Wilkinson. Like I said before, I was hooked from the start. Grant has lived through a terrible ordeal, on more than one occasion, and parts of his life are in tatters as a result. He seeks out a therapist, which is where he meets André and they form the most special of relationships. Not only are they therapist/patient, they start up a brilliant friendship. André helps Grant in so many ways. I loved their friendship, it was so interesting to read it go from strength to strength, thanks to the help André gave Grant. One way in which he helps, is to introduce him to Renata, a colleague of his, that has had her fair share of struggles in her life. Renata helps people, in a sexual way, and her and Grant are a match made in heaven. Which shocks them both. They don't 'meet' until further on in the book, but once they did I couldn't help but root for them.

Abuse is written in both Grant and Renata's POV, with a few chapters added in, in another POV, because of a side story going on. Which isn't complicated and very relevant. I admit I was a lot more interested in Grant's character, but that's purely because I found his story more fascinating than Renata's. Maybe if the book had started with Renata, I wouldn't have enjoyed it so much, so I was just lucky that the author started with Grant.
"Facing one's past can be a perilous activity. For the client, joy must exceed misery. Personal successes must far outweigh losses. Pleasure must exceed pain. Always. Always. To do otherwise is a failure of the counselor."

There was a cliffhanger of sorts. Well, really, it was more that the side story is just left unfinished, so I'm interested to see if we are going to get a sequel. Hopefully so! All in all though, a really great book.

This is a good book. This is a really good book. In fact, this may be one of my all time favorite erotic romance novels, at least in my top 10.

Normally I am not one to express a lot of emotion when reading a book, but this book had me blubbering like a blithering idiot one minute, and then laughing out loud a little while later. Nikki can really write, and I don't say that kind of thing easily.

The story is rather simple, Grant Wilkerson is a damaged man, isolated by his scars, both visible and invisible. He works with an amazing counselor, Andre Chevalier, who manages to dig deep into Grant's soul and pull out the noble man beneath his monstrous appearance.

Renata Koreman is a beautiful woman with a horrible past. She first came to Andre as a shy, mute and damaged young woman. But Andre, doing what he does best, is able to bring out the truly brave woman hidden inside her.

When Grant and Renata finally get together, sparks fly immediately, but this is not your normal erotic romance filled with wall to wall sex. It takes it's time to build these characters. To explain how and why they are the way they are. Andre is almost too good to be true. I don't know if counselors like him really exist, but I sure hope so.

The book is split into three parts, part one is The Monster, part two is The Mouse, and part three is The Monster and the Mouse. I can't imagine a better way to tell this remarkable story.

The book is the first of a series. I'm not sure how many books there will be, nor when the next book is due out. But I want to assure you that, although this book does end with a few things unresolved, and a possible danger threatening their happiness, it does not end in a normal cliffhanger. If she never wrote another book in this series, this book would still feel complete.

I can't stress this enough. You should pickup this book. I promise you won't regret it.

Brilliant!!, first 5 star read of the year!, I made a point of not reading any reviews and was really surprised, why?, there's no BDSM in it, light on the sex and I didn't realise what an integral part of the story André is!!, I was so happy I want to meet André, I want him to be real even if only for a fleeting moment, he could say "pass the sugar mon cherie" whilst in Starbucks and I would bask in his greatness, I love André and I'm not ashamed to say it!, Anyhoo the story was really hard to read in places for me but you kinda felt you were healing with both Grant and Renata and their journey together hopefully to helping and healing each other. There is a lot of evil here but you see also loads of heart and compassion, I don't know why but I loved the character Mr Brand he gave so much through his seemingly small acts of kindness to a young Renata that actually made me misty. As you read you want retribution you want answers but unfortunately I didn't realise there will be another book/s (?) but actually I don't mind at all just means more André, Grant, Renata and Mitten the hugging Kitten!! Cannot wait.

This was so good, but not at all what I was expecting. I definitely didn't expect a cliffhanger when I started.

Grant and Renata will just break you heart with all the junk they went through. Can't wait to see where their story goes.

So much yummy Andre, and we finally find out how old he is (not what I was thinking at all).

This read was intense!

Before I read this I had to get in the mood (psych myself up) because I knew it was going to appeal to all my senses as a book reader. I was right!

The author is incredible! As I always say it takes a truly unique story to knock a bookworm out of their own world and straight into another.

I truly hope the author has more in store for us!

This isn't the telling of a story, in as much as it's like watching the struggles of two people being guided by our beloved Andre' Chevalier....Renata Koreman, just a child really when she came to him, mostly broken from a childhood of neglet & abuse, both pysically and mentally. .When she was 13, she and her foster brother Jamie ran away together, they lived on the street and slept in cardboard boxes, ate from trash cans, to her it wasn't any different than living at home. She felt like she fit in with street people and felt "normal" for the first time in her life. She did enjoy sexual intimacy with many, she felt pleasure, affection and love. Jamie was her protector and best friend until one morning she woke to find Jamie dead beside her. Her Uncle Bob is called from a Psychiatric hospital about his niece , who will be 18 in three months, has been admitted. His friend , Doctor Jay Johson gave him Andre's name. He will pay any amount to be rid of her. He is running for office and can't have this embarrassment.
She is now 22 years old, has a degree in Psycology and works as a Sexual Surrogate that recieves payment for her Therapeutic servies. She has has worked with many refered to her by Andre', but she wants someday to fall in love, have a home and children.
The second person I refer to is Grant Wilkinson, an ex-Army Ranger. He is badly disfigured and saw himself as a monster. He also carries aorund a lifetime of secrets and guilt that makes him isolate himself He is also an alcoholic, as was his father who is now dead. Drunk, he fell to his death. ..He left the Army on his 28th birthday and sought out Andre' Chevalier five months later. He was highly recommended as one who helps people with deal with PTSD, stress and sexual problems.....Now, we know how smooth Andre' is and his talent for getting to the heart of the matter, and so , over the coming months, sessions comsist of everything from hiking to camping and Grant opens up with Andre's guidance and speaks of the games, the sexual abuse that went on at the hands of his own father. He speaks of the guilt & shame he feels for not protecting his younger brother when it started for him. His father committed the blackest of sins, but as a child, there was nothing he could do. After one such session, Grant felt mentally & physically beat, worn-out, but lighter somehow. Relieved, unburdened. Freed. In another session Andre' brings up women. He learns that Grant has no experiwnce with women, they make him nervous, He has only had sex that he has paid for. Never a relationship.
Andre', says "Mon ami".. his dark eyes shine with enthusiasm. " This is most auspicious. Oui, oui, most auspicious. I have exactly the perfect woman for you"
Now don't go thinking that this is a boy meets girl kind of thing, they fall in love and live happily ever after......Oh hell no! there is so much more going on between the lines here and people I haven't mentioned, on purpose. I never saw this coming, so you shouldn't either! There is so much more to come..... Niiki, you went above and beyond with this one Girl!
I recieved this as a gift in return for my honest review. Too bad there's only 5 stars!

☆☆☆☆☆5 Souls of Brokenness Stars☆☆☆☆☆

This book is heart twisting awesomeness. I can honestly say this is a hard review to put into the proper words it deserves.

The wordy , quirky, patient, amazing Dr Andre Chevalier gathers the broken pieces of hidden souls into his world to put back together. His ways are slow and kind with patience and thoughtfulness. The words he speaks are so enlightening, as a reader, this book crosses over into your life.

"Many times karma comes from inside - with each individual creating their own Heaven or Hell."

Both Renata and Grant are pieced back together with the help of Andre.

Renata's broken puzzle pieces stem from a horrible and abusive father. Falling into the care of Andre as a young 18 year old, she learned to live thru loving a gift from Andre. She was pieced together thru small steps of loving something that needed her. As Andre continues with Renata's puzzle, she becomes a helping hand to other's with problems that also mend her own demons within.

Grant's puzzle was shattered at a very young age by the one person who was his hero....his father. The horrendous events of his childhood continue leading to other horrible events. These are revieled in small doses to us readers and still by the end of the book secrets aren't totally exposed. Andre teaches Grant he is not a monster. As Grant begins to heal, Andre leads Grant to Renata for the next puzzle piece to be placed.

Grant and Renata are beautiful together. Broken and hidden souls seeing the light together. Both needing to feel needed.

"The sun is shing. It's a beautiful day. All shadows have been banished. There's not a cloud in our hearts, or in the sky. This wonderful woman makes me feel so glad to be alive."

Then the phone rings......hell is about to darken their clear skies.

Damn, damn, damn.......this leads to book 2......I NEED IT NOW!

3.5 - 4 TRES BIEN STARS!

Two tortured souls, looking for some sort of peace, Andre Chevalier will try to give them that peace.

Renata and Grant are strangers, both have horrific abusive pasts and are both are scarred mentally, Grant is scarred physically too. Their saviour comes in the form of Frenchman Andre.

I loved Andre and his quirky ways, I'm dying to know his story. When I was reading, in my mind I was doing it in a French accent, more precisely Inspector Clouseau's accent. In hindsight this was probably a good thing as it kind of lightened the read in parts.

I felt for Grant and all he went through and Renata too. I know it was a bit extreme the insta love thing they had going on but their lives and what they suffered were extreme too, so it was fitting in that retrospect.

Would have liked to read a bit more about the H and h as a couple and not waited so long for them to get together, but that's just me!

The ending, well it was a sort of cliffy and I will be reading book 2 when the rest of this series is out.
An emotional dark read that I enjoyed.

Oh Andre! I am so happy to see him back in a book! This man owns my heart in the way he acts and speaks.

This story is about Grant and Renata. It tells of their pasts and struggles and eventually unites them in an unusual way. There are plenty of secrets that need to be told, but there is also a sense of freedom to be found throughout the story. I am eagerly anticipating a second book to tell the rest of their story!

Wow! What a love story! This is my favourite Nikki Sex book of all. It covers all kinds of ABUSE: Grant sees himself as a monster, Renata sees herself as a mouse. Some real surprises in this one. I was freaked out, every page is like, what??????? And holy shit!!!!! Don’t miss this book. It’s a fantastic LOVE story and completely different from anything I’ve ever read before.

Holy shit! I’ve never read a book like this. I’ve read lots of stories where you understand that the hero or heroine has been abused, but this book really gives the experience of abuse from a first person POV. This book blew me away. It is a must read for everyone in 2015.

It’s difficult to say that I enjoyed this book since much of the subject matter was so dark, but I did. Abuse had an intricate but believable plot following the lives of abuse survivors and their pursuit of recovery.

I loved André Chevalier. He was fun, crazy, arrogant, charismatic, and a bit of a smartass. I really liked Grant as well. His secrets made him more mysterious, and I couldn’t help liking him even though he had a dark side. Most of his self-loathing was unwarranted from childhood abuse, but it was obvious that he has other secrets that have yet to be revealed.

I was not crazy about Renata. Her childhood trauma broke my heart, but her in the present kind of annoyed me. I do like that she was so casual about her love of sex. It’s empowering that she was not ashamed of her promiscuity. However, Renata falls in love so easily it’s almost flippant. I just knew it would be instalove for her and Grant. Anyone could see that coming from a mile away.

This one ended in a cliffy. I was thinking this was a standalone when I originally started reading it, but I’ll eventually get around to reading the next installment. I wasn’t completely enraptured by this story, but I would like to know what happens next.

Overall, it was a respectable story of such broken people trying to overcome their demons. Three and a half stars.

5 Emotional Stars

Cliffhanger

Abuse comes in many form such as: physical, mental, sexual, emotional, and, verbal.

Grant sees himself as a monster due to his disfigurement (book 1).
Grant Wilkerson is a damaged man who isolated himself due to his scars, both physical and mental. He works with a counselor, Andre Chevalier, who manages to get inside Grant's heart and brought the good person beyond his appearance.

Renata sees herself as a mouse due to past (book2).
Renata Koreman is an amazing woman with an ugly past. When she first met Andre, she was shy, mute and damaged person. Andre was able to bring out the strong woman hidden inside her.

It’s a fantastic love story and completely different from my usual broken hero/heroine. This book have you laughing then crying the next. When Grant and Renata finally get together, their chemistry exploded but it took time to get there. Each characters have to be explain to how and why they are the way. Love it.

Well, this book was not at all what I expected it to be. It is a bit of a study in psychiatry and abuse counseling. Not very much romance. The subject matter is so sad and incredibly heartbreaking. Plus I'm not so sure how believable Grant and Renata's connection is- it's very instant. With that being said, I've become engrossed in Grant and Renata's story so I'm moving on to Accuse. I have lots of questions and remain unconvinced that this is a good pairing. I guess we will see. I very much so want them both to be happy. Be warned, this one ends quite abruptly with a cliffhanger. Happy reading.

PS As always, I absolutely loved Andre' Cavalier!
