I did this in my last review so it’s only fitting I continue.
Luke & Libby How everyone is connected to the Wanted Series. Book 2 Saved – Ari & Jeff gave us Grace & Luke Book 3 Faithful – Heather & Josh gave us Will & Libby
So we already know that everyone grows up together. Luke and Libby were the best of friends they played epic pranks throughout there childhood on all the kids.
They were inseparable, so when they got older and feeling started to come forth. Luke got scared; scared of what he was feeling and scared he was enough for Libby so he started to push her away.
I really liked how they had to struggle it wasn’t easy, I think I like that because it shows what is real. I know it’s a book but when it feels real like that can happen in real life makes the books more relatable.
Libby just wanted Luke and she tried and tried to get him to open up. But there is a point where you have to say enough is enough and she had to move on.
Luke makes some mistakes as does Libby but what I liked was how they never really judged each other for those mistakes. They accepted them and moved on they didn’t dwell on them.
I hearted this story and how they both had to take a leap and trust in on another. This story is going to melt your heart.
I loved the narration, just like in the first book I said how Erin and Stephen brought these characters to life without getting all the character mixed up really is amazing. Because there is a LOT of characters in this book, and each had a voice. I loved that. I am a fan… I am a huge fan of both these narrators.
*You don't have to like my review but its 100% my opinion, and I am allowed to have it.*
All I can honestly say is I've loved every book that Kelly Elliott has written and this book didn't disappoint my expectations. I had a love/hate relationship with this book for probably the first half of it, the back and forth between Luke and Libby was driving me bonkers. But finally Luke listened to his heart instead of using his brain, got his head out of his ass and manned up to tell Libby how he truly felt. After that it was all perfect for me. I loved that we were able to get a glimpse into their future together, but it kinda made me feel like I was cheated out of that moment for Alex and Will (first book in the series). I look fwd to reading Lauren and Colts story next followed by hopefully Meagan and Grace and if course we will get to see Taylor with Jase in the Broken series.
It was really hard for me to finish reading this book. Sadly I do not share the love that others have for this book. To me the story it was lacking ....well lacking a story:( The 80% or so of the book it was push and pull from Luke and Libby. I really can't stand stories where the male or female character push the other away for no reasonable reason. In this case Luke push Libby away and pull back in to push away again. He states over and over that he loves Libby but he can't be with her because he will end up hurting her. Well, mean awhile he is hurting her with the hot and cold attitude. It was just really annoying. The other problem I have with this book it was the flashbacks. Oh my goodness, I couldn't take the flashbacks any longer. It was way too many!! And then the remaining of the book after the characters finally got together it felt just like superficial story. It was like the author thought "Ok, now I need to finish so I'll just add a little accident and a pregnancy just to get a little more drama in,but not too much". I was bored and annoyed with this book. Not exactly a good combination for me.
It was good...but I don't know it seemed like something was missing. :/
Libby & Luke were great together but I felt like Libby was trying to force herself to do things she didn't really need to do in the beginning.
Luke I felt like he really tried to let Libby move on even though it killed him in the end. But overall he finally stepped up to the bat even it was a little late in the game.
Overall it was an okay addition to this series but like I stated in the beginning it just felt like something was missing in the end.
Typical YA story. Guy is friends with the h, kisses her but he doesn't want to "loose her" (whatever that means🙄) so he leaves for college without even saying bye and then he goes to sleep with other girl right away (while supposedly picturing the h🤢). Then he feels guilty about it, so that's the reason he keeps pushing the h away later on? (so stupid). Then he flaunts his "f-buddie" in front of the h all the time.🤮 She (h) even overheard him dirty talking to her (f-buddy) at the library🤮🤮. And we get to read how he gets so aroused by the ow, and experience their sex scenes🤢. Ugh. Just so gross.🤮
There really should be more than 5 stars available for some books. There are book that fall into the 1-5 star category and then we have KELLY ELLIOTT books and they are in a different bracket all together.
Saving You gives you everything you need. It is a complete love story filled with so much emotion you heart will race. You will be brought to tears caused by pain and joy. Luke and Libby have an amazing connection, but like their parents wires were crossed , heads were followed and hearts were left behind.
Watching them find their way to each other was such an beautiful experience. They take you through the wringer as they fight their feelings for one another. The others that got in the way ,the ones that were used as distractions will cause just enough angst that will have your skin crawling and your emotions all over the map. I
Luke is such a sweetheart with just enough bad boy to have you squirming in your seat. Libby is that girl next door with a wicked twist. Their so brilliant together. You could feel the heat radiating from the pages as you turn them.
I loved seeing all the other couples and catching up with them as well as the parents. I have a feeling Lauren and Colt are going to takes us on one heck of a ride. I CAN'T WAIT !!!!!!!!!!
This book brought so many memories back of the Wanted Series I'm so glad Kelly has chose to bring us so much more from this amazing group of characters. They are all so relatable. Kelly makes you feel like your part of the crowd with the way her work just captivates you and pulls you into the story. Be prepared to want to start all over reading the series. I am on my way to get reacquainted with Gunner and Ellie myself.
It seems like this book was separated into 2 parts. The first where Libby and Luke, mostly Luke, can't figure out their feelings and end up hurting each other time and time again. This part got old fast. Everyone gave them the same advice and each knew what they should do, but they didn't have the guts to go for it. Finally they did and it changed the whole tone of the book, making the last half a love fest.
What I liked about the second half was how the parents all chimed in on things. I found myself laughing so hard because those same parents were up to some of the same high-jinxs the kids were, yet were lecturing them all the same. It was all pot meet kettle.
I have been waiting for this book to release. Saved from the Wanted series was my favorite book. That was the story of Ari and Jeff Johnson. Their journey to their HEA was full of angst and drama and stomach plummeting action. I LOVED it! Saving You is their son Luke's story of his relationship with Libby, the daughter of Josh and Heather from that same Wanted series. Once best friends, their undeclared feelings for each other lead to heartache and loneliness and substitution with other partners in their quest to deny what they feel.
Their story started in Without You, the first in this new Love Wanted Series. Both are now in college and Luke truly believes he is not good enough for Libby. She knows he is attracted to her, but the "I want you, I want you not" back and forth from him is wearing thin. He has a booty call girl, Abigail, who is his go to partner for sex. Libby is more than aware of her and is hurt beyond belief. He won't admit his true feelings for her, but he screws around with this girl, knowing it hurts Libby. (This is where I would like to insert my knee in his crotch)
"You weren't kidding when you said you're horny." She smiled bigger and raised her eyebrow as she pursed her lips. "Does Abigail need some relief?"
She slowly nodded her head. "Yes. She does. And the only person who can do that is you, Mr. Johnson."
I let out a laugh as I leaned back. My smile faded instantly. It was as if I felt her before I saw her. Turning, I saw Libby standing there. I pushed my chair back and stood. "Lib, what's up?"
I watched as her eyes traveled down my body and I instantly adjusted my somewhat hard dick. She looked back up and all I saw was hurt. Again.
At the end of Without You, Libby was dating Zach and had just lost her virginity to him. And of course that's when Luke came barreling into her dorm room, finally ready to let her know he loved her. Seeing Zach in her bed crushed him, and he turned back to Abigail.
Sitting in my truck, I thought back to a few weeks ago when I had walked in on Libby and Zach. My stomach felt sick any time I thought about it.
Saving You actually starts before those events. There is a glimpse into why Luke feels he betrayed Libby when he went away to college, and she was still in high school. These two suffer from numerous miscommunications and poor choices. But the chemistry between them...
"Luke, can you push your pants off? I'll have to turn around while you get your pants off since you're not wearing any underwear."
The smile that moved across his face caused my body to betray me. I could almost feel my nipples get harder and the wetness between my legs was a sure sign I wanted him.
Luke is determined to graduate early, he wants to make his living by working with his dad and uncle on their ranches. Two years into college, Libby still has no idea what she wants to do.
Meanwhile there is lots going on with the secondary characters. Alex (Ellie and Gunner's daughter) is engaged to Will, Heather and Josh's son. Grace, Luke's sister and Ari and Jeff's daughter, is a little lost because of a one night stand she had with a guy named Noah. She doesn't think he would want someone like her, (not sure why she feels this way, but when we get Grace's story I'm sure we'll find out) Colt is also the son of Gunner and Ellie and he is in an on again off again battle with Laurel, (Scott and Jessie's daughter). Those two have such a storm relationship. And then there's Maegan and Taylor, (Brad and Amanda's daughters) we don't have an inkling who they will be partnered with yet, so there are several more stories coming that will tempt us to throw our Kindles against a wall. I say BRING IT!
Saving Us has it all-intrigue, steamy sex, and lots of witty banter. Both Libby and Luke are so hard headed and headstrong and both think they aren't good enough for the other. Their road is full of twists and turns and delicious angst. Kelly Elliott never fails to deliver a fantastic story and this one is vying for first place as my favorite right along with Saved!
"It was different because in that moment, I knew I wanted that with the girl who was sitting next to me. She wasn't only my best friend; she was the most beautiful girl I'd ever laid eyes on. The girl who made my heart stop with the sound of her voice."
If you loved the Wanted series as much as I did you will love this series and this book too!! I love all of Kelly's books. I love her stories they are filled with so much LOVE and FRIENDSHIP. This series is the Kids of the Wanted Series, growing up and finding love. This is Luke and Libby's story. Luke is the son of Jeff and Ari and Libby is the daughter of Josh and Heather. They grow up as best friends and find that they want so much more, but Luke runs from his feelings. He does't run too far, they attend the same college, share the same friends and live in the same town. There are other boyfriends and girlfriends along the way, which gives you anxiety but in the end the two finally find their way. This being said, I hate to say anything negative about Kelly Elliott's books because I really do love ALL of them. Sorry "But" they all have the similar feeling, which I love, but I can see other readers not liking. I kind of felt like it was a shorter version of Jeff and Ari's story. As you can see I gave it five stars, I love Kelly and her books, I LOVE her characters, I am glad to have the Wanted Kids in their own series, I will read anything she writes.
Let me first say I truly wish I could give this book more the 5 starts....It was amazing. I love Luke and Libby their story was beautiful. I was so happy when they finally admitted their feelings too each other. I also love how the wanted group are brought into the stories...I'm already a Jeff Johnson fan, No I'm crushing on his son
I love this series! And the wanted series! This story though just wasn't it for me. I'm more interested in Grace and Noah story☺️but Luke and Libby's story was still sweet.
OK, I enjoyed this story a lot more than I thought I would. I really did not care for Luke in the first book, he is too much like his dad and I really did not like his dad in the other series. Luke and Libby together felt forced to me at first, like to author wanted them to be together rather than the characters wanting to be together (I know that sounds weird). I was fine with them, for the most part, once they got together. but I also had to keep reminding myself who's story this was. With so many characters I sometimes forgot that this was about Libby, that sounds awful, but it goes back to the fact that Libby and Luke seamed like a strange pairing to me.
I did like the fact that they had been partners in crime in the practical joke department. Which made this book more fun to read, a little more humor and slightly less drama than the previous one.
I also like the nods to Texas A&M and the traditions held there. Though towards the end at one point the girls drive to Austin to go shopping for clothes and they act like College Station has a population of 100 and there is no shopping to be had, which is not the case at all. So that moment was frustrating and really only in there to set up events in future books.
One amusing thing about Libby: she is better than her mom at the BJ's, that was a funny comparison.
There were times in the first book Without You that Luke and Libby stole the show with their fussing, fighting, and obvious longing. Their book starts on a timeline about midway through Without You but revisits scenes in their points of view.
Luke Johnson (Jeff and Ari's son) and Libby Hayes (Josh and Heather's daughter) have been best friends all of their lives, but as they grew up, so did their feelings. One kiss changed their dynamic dramatically. But Luke is so afraid of ruining their friendship (and that with her brother), hurting her, and not feeling good enough about himself that his behavior is often erratic and confusing. Sometimes he avoids, other times pushes her away, or gets jealous, then at other times he is nice and even romantic. Poor Libby can't keep up with him All she knows is she misses him and wants more, but has no clue what holds him back. He confuses, irritates, and hurts her, and makes her insecure. But in his head he is protecting her and their friendship, but his heart (and body) want her.
"I'd rather have Libby in my life than risk losing her because of my feelings."
Oh my, at the fight or flight in this book. I think Luke might win the award for Kelly Elliott's most indecisive and conflicted man. The push and pull was agonizing at times. I wanted to shake sense into him...and into her too at times.
Luke was so much like his father, Jeff. He thinks he is being more noble and doing the right thing by protecting Libby from himself, but in the long run just hurts her more. He was strong, protective, stubborn, and struggling with what was best. He made mistakes and was not proud of his choices and it made him push her away. Sometimes he gave me whiplash. But it was obvious how much he loved her and how hard it was to stay away and how conflicted he was. But in trying not to lose their friendship, his behavior becomes a self fulfilling prophecy affecting their friendship anyway.
"Love has a way of melting our defenses, Luke. You just have to know when to let those defenses fall." (Jeff)
Libby was sweet, smart, and tried to be patient, but was understandably puzzled and upset due to his back and forth actions. But sometimes she did not help the situation either with her own choices.
I hated that the more I tried to push him out of my heart, the stronger he held onto it.
The miscommunication, fears, outside influences, jealousy, anger, longing, and near misses made for lots of angst and drama. They had a deep connection, feelings, and chemistry, but were crippled by fears. Much of the conflict came as they were trying to determine if they should fight for each other to take the next step or just move on and hope to maintain their friendship. There was a lot at stake.
This book also explores the fun and emotion of young love and lust that is finally set free along with the complications surrounding a new relationship. Of course there are some obstacles to overcome and some surprises. But all of it is needed for Luke and Libby to set a path for their lives and figure out what is most important to both of them.
This was another best friends to lovers story that begins with lots of drama, and progresses to be more of a growing up story. But while Alex and Will's story dealt more with love sustaining separation, in this one they had proximity, but a lot of insecurities, fears, and misunderstandings causing self imposed distance and holding them back. And there is a whole group of siblings and friends that are around for all of the good and bad times and can see the train wreck happening around them.
"Jesus, our little group, I swear. It's a good thing we ran out of boys for Meg and Taylor." (Luke)
These young characters have tight bonds with each other and their extended families. They all support each other and give each other a hard time. The kids are still young and learning about themselves and have fears and doubts that affect their choices But they would do anything for the others. But each character (this was especially true for Luke and Libby) has to dig deep and let go of some issues and figure out if the potential rewards of changing their relationship are worth fighting for. And the other one has to be willing to put forth the effort to fight for happiness too, Only then will their relationship be saved and meet its full potential. Not all of the characters have got to that point yet. There is still tension with Lauren and Colt. Grace still has her own issues and the one that got away. Maegan is struggling with some problems. Taylor seems to be the one without much going on right now(but there was a hint of what might happen with her in another series). But I loved all of the friends and siblings together. They have such fun banter and close ties even when things get convoluted.
"Why do they have to f**k with our heads and hearts so much?" (Colt) "They probably think they same thing about us." (Luke)
I adored the interactions with their parents especially Luke with his dad, Jeff, who have such similar personalities. And it's fun watching Josh deal with his baby girl growing up. The dynamics with the parents' group of friends are still as fun as the next generation. The stories with the other younger characters continue to be teased as they all are still trying to discover who they are, who they want to be and who they want to be with. I am interested to seeing where all of their stories go.
"Love seems to take its own sweet time. It doesn't take a straight path. It twists and turns, but somehow it finds its way to you. You have to learn to listen to your heart, but that's harder to do than it sounds." (Libby)
I was gifted a copy in exchange for an honest review.
I loved this book! I think it has such an wonderful story line between the two characters. I personally love a good romance book to cuddle up with and this is perfect for that. It was a book that kept you in the story, kept you with the love they both have for each other. This book is not suspenseful through out their story but still hold you in. I highly recommend this book for someone who wants a romance book but not one with a lot of drama.
3.75 Stars! I actually really enjoyed this one. I was prepared for the back and forth crap from the previous book so I wasn’t that annoyed when it happened. This book was much shorter than book 1 and that’s why I think I liked it more. One thing I have to say about KE is she write way too much sex scenes.. like at a point you just start skipping those parts.
Libby was immature to the point it was annoying. I know it’s a book and this sounds like somebody’s senior citizen family member ranting. But she doesn’t want him following her so she drives recklessly endangering everybody because the boy she loves won’t declare he loves her when they’re not in a relationship or physical?? Then there’s a feminist undertone that just annoys me. It’s like somebodies daydreams of standing up to their boss was written.
HOT HOT HOT!!! Whew, I knew Luke's and Libbi's story was going to be hot. Those two had to much built-up tension it had to be explosive and that is exactly what author Kelly Elliott gave us.
I felt that this story was a little rushed. More of a quick recap and then the rest of the story played out. Still a fantastic read and so happy that these two got their happy ever after.
A beautiful story that is full of sweet romance, friendship, hard times and unconditional love. Luke and Libby’s journey had its ups and downs, but I loved the emotional ride. Getting a peek at the Wanted series OG’s made my heart extremely happy. Another home run for this author.
With one kiss, Luke and Libby's friendship changes from best of friends to so much more. Can you really fall in love with your best friend and have the friendship with the rest of the group in tact? Kelly Elliott proves that loves knows no bounds and friends to lovers is the best kind of love.
All you need is love this series has that and them some. What do you do when you love your best friend but are afraid of those feelings. Find out in this book!
