Becoming Your Real Self: A Practical Toolkit for Managing Life's Challenges

Rate this book
If you're in a good place in your life, how do you stay there? If you're in a bad place in your life, how do you get out of it? Here's how ... On RTÉ's hit show, Operation Transformation psychologist Dr Eddie Murphy is the reassuring contrast to the hard-nosed nutrition and exercise experts. He works with participants to identify the emotional impact of their unhealthy lifestyles and to come up with workable strategies to help them manage stress and emotional issues. His work leads to many light-bulb moments and is crucial to helping participants achieve their goals. Now, Eddie shares his methods for building up and maintaining good mental health and a positive outlook. He explains simple ways we can keep our busy lives in balance and cope with the many demands on our time and energy. And he also explains how faulty thinking and behaviour patterns sustain problems such as panic attacks, depression, anxiety, anger and low self-esteem. Tackling these patterns will give us the tools to break free from negative emotions and beliefs. Becoming Your Real Self offers simple but amazingly effective tools for being the best we can be and also for identifying unhelpful habits that we can change. With Becoming Your Real Self as your bible, you will be able to release yourself from the tyranny of negative emotions and embrace the life you want and deserve.

Excellent book!

My first exploration of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy in any great detail, and it certainly met the expectations that had been set for me. I think in part that was down to the fact that this book is very well written and organised. I understand myself better now in certain situations and I believe what I have taken from this book will improve my experiences, as well as understanding others better.

Having seen Dr Eddie work with the people on Operation Transformation, his calm and supportive style influenced how I read this, at times I could hear him offer the advice in my head as I read his words.
Will definitely be taking this off the book shelf for support with mastering my monkey mind on occasion.

This book helped me to understand common psychological conditions such as anxiety, anger, stress, etc, why it happens and how to overcome it. This is very useful as a handbook to achieve mental fitness, and understand human psychology. Definitely suggest everyone to give a chance to this.

The first self help book I've ever read that's set in Ireland, which is really good.
