The Dark Citadel Omnibus

I want to start with a Big Thank You to Michael Wallace. He sent the first three books to me as a gift.
The first one "The Dark Citadel" was slow to get into, because I don't usually get into magic; warlords; and wizards gentry books. But, when I got into it and understood who was who and what part they played in the story I became fascinated. The other two: "The Free Kingdom" and "The Golden Griffin" were so captivating that I could not put down. Woww

This volume has the first 3 books of this 5 book series and while it was a little slow to get going, I found myself getting drawn in more and more. The story isn't necessarily anything new with wizards and warriors, good and evil and epic battles and power struggles but it is relatively well written, a few bits do get a little overly descriptive but then it is a fantasy epic, and the story flows nicely. The characters are also what you'd expect but they do have moments where they manage to surprise you and leave you wondering where things might be going. Overall not a bad read and I've already downloaded books 4 and 5!

Predictable !!

The story line started out well but the pace of the book was off the start.when a story has antagonist that has all the power and can't be stopped why brother to write a book about evil versus good ? When good can't win ,why read on !! In all honesty I could not finish this ridiculous and poorly written story .

Omnibus?

I took the term omnibus to mean all, and that this must have been a trilogy. I should have read the description more closely. This is the first three books of a five book series. My fault.

That aside, this was a fun read if you're into sword and sorcery fantasies. The author builds great depth and characters into his world.

No problem recommending this book.

This is a awesome and inspiring fantasy story , a story that no matter who you are, you can work yourself up from the lowest of life, as for Darik starting as a rich boy, lowered to a slave and working himself up as a warrior. I love the story about Daria and Darik, the love story unfolding. The fantasy lands portrayed is amazing, you can feel the heat of the deserts and the fresh air of the mountains. I would definitely recommend this story, it is very adventures and so captivated. The story pulls you in like you are part of this amazing fantasy story. The only thing that disappointed me is that the last story it is like it stops in the middle of a story.

3 books in one omnibus, it took a bit to get through but was a fun ride and interesting .. our world but with mythical creatures, monsters and a unique to me magic system. Strong women who held their own and men I actually liked. Nicely done.

Adventure and magic woven together.

A full on, action packed book with many twists and adventures. It weaves the stories of the main characters together, makes the readers eagerly await the next books in the series.

They were enjoyable but was disappointed to realise there was a part 4 & 5. Was bored to death trying to make my way through the last two - especially five. Fantasy can get very samey. If you adore Fantasy - fine, enjoy them. But not for me.

Over written

One book stretched out into three. Lots of unimportant verbiage and filler. Makes for a boring read. Glad it's free
