Kazzie closes The Immune series with a thrilling climax and a satisfying resolution. The frequent switches in point of view are well-done, quickening the pace and the compulsion to keep reading as the characters close in on the villain and launch their desperate attempt not only to rescue Rachel but thwart the villain's larger plans. The conclusion has an epic, sweeping feel in keeping with the entire series. The ending is appropriately bittersweet but not without hope, an apt approach to take, considering the haunting realism of the premise and execution of the entire story. Well-done!

This review is based on the entire series. A very good representation of the genre ... interesting characters, believable set up and well written action scenes.

I would have liked to see a little more development of some of the secondary characters ... I found that I had to go back to figure out who some of them were when the focus was on them.

Overall, an enjoyable read that I found this past weekend and could not wait to find out what happened when the finale came out yesterday.

Great

Loved this series. This final book brought the series together. I do wish the author would write another book so we could see how everyone starts to rebuild in their new world.. and if baby thompson lives.. This series gets a hold of you and is hard to put down.. all I can say is I want more!

Please tell me there are more to come?

I just finished Book IV of the Immune Series and I can say without hesitation that I did not want it to end. Please tell me that there at least one more book coming!!!

The series was very good. I devoured each book in about a day. However, the whole series only rates 3 stars IMO because it is too reminiscent of "The Stand". The story is not a complete copycat, which did encourage me to finish, yet it fell short of one of King's most standout stories.

I'm writing this review for all four books in the series that ends with Citadel.
This book almost made me as insane as Freddie (without murdering innocent people and burning down a town).
I have equal like/dislike for the characters and the story.
I complain a lot to anyone who will listen (mainly the wall or my dog) that books today are written so haphazardly. Parts that need lengthy explanations are glossed over and other ideas are hashed over and over until I'm ready to skip parts and just move on.
This is exactly what happens in The Immune Series, and several scenes of conflict are drawn out for so long, that I was falling asleep with boredom. I guess this is done for the book to have more excitement, but it's similar to a bad action movie where you're in action hell waiting 30 minutes or more for the big climatic fight scene to end.

Part IV in the Immune series

Ok, this just jumped the shark for me. I was having a hard time suspending belief earlier and now, it's just delved into silliness. Adam launches a rescue party to save his daughter. He's up against a guarded compound of over 100 people with heavily armed, rotating guards and he has 3 people with him and only one of those people has any training and experience with guns and warfare? Give me a break.

The man who created Medusa has turned from superior, god complex into a maniacal loon like a villain in a Batman movie. The standoff at the end was just ridiculous and I'm sorry I wasted my time reading the entire series.

(Rating 2.5) —- This is a run-of-the-mill end of the world due to a virus series. It follows a group of characters and they all go through the usual tropes of this genre - loosing their family, finding family, creating new families, sacrifice, communities, evil groups, end of world problems like food, water, shelter, medical care.

It wasn’t bad, and if you like this genre and maybe haven’t read many of these then you will enjoy it as it explores all these theme quite well, it’s just for me, because I’ve read quite a few of these types of series, it didn’t provide a new perspective.

I didnt realise that I had downloaded and read all four books together. As single books I think they may have been far too short and fast but as it was reading together they kept the flow going.

The idea of humanity falling via plague has always fascinated me and I think these books really scratched that itch.

The final instalment in this post-apocalyptic series is a doozy. The tensions and various narrative threads started in the other books not only come together but explode with shocking consequences. Just when you thought our intrepid and flawed characters had endured enough, Kazzie inflicts more pain on them and demands they rise to the occasion and show their resilience and instinct for survival.
I don’t want to say too much more except that in every way this was a fitting end to the series and even if it doesn’t answer all the questions it raises, I think this is appropriate as well.
Well-written, fast-paced and action-packed, it was a great read.

Amazing series but that's how it ended? I was really hoping we'd learn what Roger's was going to reveal and how Rachel had gotten the vaccine.

Bittersweet

The ending was very fast paced but engaging. The heroine of the hour was sad and unexpected. The why of the virus release was not very clear.

I liked the book. I thought it tied up the loose ends nicely. I thought it would make for the great second half of a movie. I liked Adam well enough in the first book, but in the second, Evergreen, and this one, he is a little too pat and structured. I am not sure really how to describe it. He is a good guy, I'd like him in person, but the choices he makes are a little too by the book. I really liked all the books, and the plot twists were good. I'd have liked more about the women in captivity, and I think more about his daughter early on, in maybe a split point of view setting. I do recommend the book. I thought it was a nice change from the other dystopic books I'd been reading in that the source of the end of the world was a virus, and not just any virus, but one that was engineered to do so.

Good series, good ending

A good end to a very good series.
I don't want to ruin it for you but I know if you read the previous entries in this series you will be anxious to read the concluding one.

The author writes very well, making you care about the characters.

This story is one you can't put down until it is done and then you are sad because it is over. A very worthwhile read. It will inspire you. Give you a little hope.

Could this be our future

Well, I've finished the 4 part series The Immune. I started it on the off chance that it could be good. I was wrong. It's awesome! To think that someone could develop a virus to destroy the world?! Terrifying and enthralling, this series kept me on the edge. Thoroughly enjoyed the characters, expertly crafted, and stunningly real. Worth the nightmares.

The payoff of this story was good. It was worth the effort of reading a four volume series (granted they were not long volumes). There were a couple of things that were never explained or addressed but they weren't deal breakers in the overall flow of the story. I did truly enjoy this series and would recommend them to fans of post-apocalyptic stories.

Interesting apocalypse-series. I enjoyed the first three books better than the last one which, while it resolved the storyline, felt tacked on.
