Astra Evans is a curvy, delicious firebrand who thinks that the only good shifter is a dead shifter. With two exceptions, of course. ;) And Kane Ortiz is NOT one of those exceptions. Kane’s a mountain-sized grizzly bear shifter who wants one thing. To avoid a group of shifters hunting him down. Except he’s got a problem. Astra. That damned, sexy, hottie with the curves that don’t end. Good luck, Kane. You’re gonna need it.
Someday I'll learn not to try anymore bear shifter stories... the ones that are free anyways. Some weird wording, not really relatable characters, really short story.
All Astra wants in life is to become a Veterinarian. But for some reason the Shifter Life keeps pulling her in. With her deep seated fear and hatred towards all but a select few shifters she does all she can to keep them away from her family. Kane, on the run from a pack of rovers seeks sanctuary and a place to rest away from the ones who hunt him. A loner Shifter, things begin to change when he meets Astra. Astra is confused with her conflicting emotions towards Kane a Shifter she wants nothing to do with, and wants to get him as far away from her home town as possible. Will the fear Astra carries with her keep Kane at bay? Will the hunters after Kane find him before he finds what it is his Bear is looking for? Join Author Elle Thorne in her second segment of Forever Shifters and follow along with the characters you may have already met as she continues this amazing saga! Well Done🌺
Read as part of anthology so not read first book. This however did not make it hard to follow and I easily picked up where last book finished. Astra is a vet and is cover for her adopted father while on holiday. She called by her closed Friend to check a bite but when she comes to Grant's she realises the person bitten is a shapeshifting bear. Astra absolutely hates shapeshifters after they brutally attacked and killed her mother in front of her. Reluctantly she agrees to take Kane to the cabin her hired from Grant but while there a snowstorm starts and their both stuck. Sparks fly quickly but Astra's attitude to Shifter does a complete 180. While Astra was slightly off to start with she definitely improved and in end did suit Kane. Great story and HEA.
I picked this one up as a kindle freebie without knowing till I had started it that it was book 2. Astra has issues with shifters because they are the cause of her mother’s death when she was young even though she was raised by a bear shifter. When a stranger comes to town she knows right away he’s a shifter and wants him gone but before he can leave she finds herself falling for him. Kane isn’t looking for a place to be tied down he’s on the run from three bounty hunters after he saved another shifter. When an avalanche leaves the pair stuck in a cabin will they find that maybe it’s time for her to like shifters? Will Kane realize he might be staying in the valley?
I like Astra she has a good head on her shoulders, and she is stubborn what’s not to like about a girl who isn’t afraid to push back. I like that Astra was willing to give it a chance and open up to Kane because they work really well together. I liked Kane he’s a good guy with good heart who’s just right to bring Astra out of her shifter issues.
I wasn’t sure what to expect when I picked up Seduction and was pleasantly surprised to find a captivating shifter romance. While the novel does have a lot of steamy moments I found them to be tastefully written, and they fit in the story. I really enjoyed the characters I was able to connect with them. I loved that Astra is a curvy girl it’s refreshing and just made me love her more. While the story is shorter than I prefer I felt that the author did a great job creating a unique little romance that is perfect for a quick read. This is my first novel by this author and already I’ve become a quick fan. I enjoyed her writing style it’s a well written short story. I’m already looking forward to checking out the rest of her books.
I want to say that I should learn these books are not for me, but I *have* read ones that I've enjoyed. Perhaps this author is simply not for me. I really didn't make it far into this book. Only partway through chapter four.
I read a lot of romances and I've learned to stay away from certain ones. Mainly Man has been hurt by woman, man hates all women (though of course Man still fucks lots of women because he doesn't hate them that much!). This book starts out pretty much the same way. Astra's parents where murdered by shifters, sad and I get it, rightly angry and all that. However this whole "I hate all shifters!" is pushing it too far. Especially when she has two shifters in her life that she loves.
Then we have Kane. He's known her two minutes, in those two minutes she has freaked out and he becomes aware that she hates him. Of course none of that matters because she has awesome tits and his dick his hard.
Instalust is fine, but when it happens regardless of everything else going on in the scene it's extremely annoying.
This story starts off with Astra and Kane. Astra doesn't like shifters, hates them she states, but her Dad is a shifter and Grant who is like an Uncle to her is also a shifter and she loves them. Weird. She gets a call to come and check on Kane who was bitten by a shifter and they wanted to make sure he wasn't infected. Again Astra who lived her whole life with her shifter Dad and knows nothing about treating shifters, is called in to check in on one? Of course, there are sparks between them. Kane wants to have sex with her even with her distaste of his kind and Astra feels an overwhelming attraction to a shifter that she is supposed to dislike. She ends up giving him a ride home to dissuade him from staying but ends up agreeing to stay the night with him? Huh. This was just too much for me. Sex scenes were hot and after a brief skirmish from the Rovers who attacked him originally. Kane asks Astra to stay with him. She says yes, he marks her as his mate and they live HEA. 2 stars.
I am always looking for shifter stories and this came up as a free read on Amazon. I didn't realise this was the second book of a six book series.
There were already established characters, so it did become a little confusing placing names and situations in the early chapters of the book. Astra and Kane became an item almost immediately and I struggled with the lack of background for either of them. I felt no empathy for Astra, she came over as a bit of a diva. The pace of the story felt very stop-go, rushing ahead in some places without an explanation or reason, was there assumptions made from the first book?
The story finished with an epilogue as a set up for the next book. The story unfortunately did not entice me to want to read on further with this series.
Again, short, quick and to the point. But this one was kind of stupid. Really, her hate for shifters was stupid. Especially since she still liked the husband of her dead mother..a shifter.
Then boom, she is a seer to backside.
I like them though..lol, this one was a little too out there though.
AUDIBLE REVIEW I did stop listening during this story due to Astra’s bigoted attitude which really annoyed. It was just all the time and over emphasised to the extreme. YET her stepfather, who she adores, is a shifter and so is Grant, who she thinks of as a brother/uncle. Yes, she had an indisputable reason but you don’t tar everyone for the actions of others. If her mother had died in a car accident, would she blame every driver. Not sure if I’ll continue listening to this box set. ORIGINAL BOX SET BOOK REVIEW I read one of Elle Thorne’s books in a box set and ended up buying nearly everything she has written. If you enjoy shifters you will like her books. They are not always written the way I would like them to be but this tends to make the characters more real. This was a fun read with quirky heroines and are all linked by being in the same town with related people and friends. There is also a matchmaker doing her thing. The other series of books by Elle Thorne are all loosely linked as well to these.
Astra hates shifters except for a couple of exceptions so why when she meets the visiting shifter does her body react to him. Kane is just looking for a place to stay where the rovers who are bad rogue shifters can't find him. He never expected to meet his mate and for her not to like him. Can these two fated mates be together? I would highly recommend this book to all readers who enjoy great romantic shifter tales and am sure that they would like reading it as well.
The stories arent to bad for being so short. But I did run up on a huge error in this book. When Astra first met Kane , Doc was not there. He was out of town. Then near the end they were having dinner with Grant and Chelz and Doc was there and they were talking about Astra's abilities. Doc says he thought she had them when he saw her reaction to first meeting Kane. Sorry but that was a big blunder and very noticeable to me. Not sure if the error is in the single books, but it was in the boxset.
It's best to avoid this whole bear shifter thing. This book is even worse than the previous; it reads like a cringe-worthy plot that you can't escape. Though her father and "favorite uncle" are shifters, the main character (female) dislikes them. She despises shifters because one killed her mother. In the end, she fell in love with a shifter nevertheless, and since he was considering moving out of town, she gave in to him immediately. "But she hates shifters." That kind of story, with a bit of fight drama, and you already know they fall in love and want to reunite with other shifters.
Astra is an obnoxious vet tech that is called to help Cane by their friends. She is super entitled and hates shifters because her mother was killed by a shifter. I could understand that, but Cane didn't do anything to her, she decides to hate him on principal. I get the enemies to lovers troupe, but this is whiny/bitchy girl goes for hot shifter. If I was Cane, I would have walked away. I guess it is a good thing that he realized that she was his mate early on, or he probably shouldn't have given her the time of day. Steamy scenes are pretty good, but I don't care for Astra.
This story was not compelling to me. If I didn't read book 1, I wouldn't have had much to understand why this girl hated shifters so much, or to have sympathy for her. The whole idea that an innocent virgin wants some rouge wild man is strange to me. I don't buy it. And if the girl has some kind of prejudice on top of that, it absolutely doesn't make since. It is unbelievable to me. I couldn't get into this story.
Kane Ortis has his hand full with the Seduction of Astra Evans; after watching her mother killed by rogue shifters as a child she hates all shifters except her step-father, Doc and his good friend, Grant.
A pack of shifters is after Kane, so between hiding in an isolated cabin high in the mountains, an avalanche and an attack, the story is full of action. It is also full of reluctant romance with a happy ending.
Review written after listening to the audiobooks for this series.
You hate those that have destroyed your life, and taken your loved ones from you, so Astra felt hated towards all other shifters except for Doc and Grant. When introduced to Kane, she automatically knew he was a shifter, so although Astra felt an attraction, it was balanced by the hatred she felt for his kind. She planned to have him move on.. but fate steps in..
This is book two which is Astra & Kane's story. She has sworn off shifters for life. He's running from someone or something. Complete opposites. No chemistry. That is until they make a deal to try and get along for one night. There is some danger, excitement and lots of snow. What's the worst that could happen? I loved it and enjoyed it. Some new characters get revealed. So hopefully more stories.
The second book in the series sees Astra fall for Kane even though she tries not to. They have an instant attraction and everyone seems to be aware that they are meant to be together. Slowly more and more shifters are returning to Bear Canyon Valley. There is still much to be learned about the Valley and the people who live there.
Ok, in my review of book one I mentioned a need for either a prologue or backstory. After reading this book I got the partial answer to a question about Jeff This is about Astra, who hates shifters, except for Grant and her stepdad Doc. Then she meets Kane and learns that not all shifters are bad and need to be wiped out Can't wait for book three
Audio review This story involves Kane and Astral. Astral had a bad experience with shifters , her parents were killed . Astral is under the impression that there are no more shifters where she made home in Bear caynon Vally . This are fighting sceans , rows between non pack bears and love.
I have to admit that my favorite trope is the instant attraction/love-at-first story. Seduction has that in spades! Kane and Astra have an immediate connection, made all the more powerful because she knows what he is within seconds of meeting him. From there, the sizzle only gets better!
This is a well written story. The characters are easy to like. Each storyline is engaging. I have purchased all the rest of this series and highly recommend.
