After the cliffhanger ending of West of Wicked, I immediately had to reach for an advanced copy of book two (huge thanks to the publisher for not making me wait until November) and it did not disappoint!
Picking up right where book number one left off, East of Envy is an exhilarating and fast-paced romp all over Oz. Providing character background and additional history of the gods, as well as adding fun new characters, it had me hooked the entire time. It's gritty and raw at times - showcasing the dark side of addiction, need for power, and boy was Dorothy thirstyyy but in a female empowerment way.
I'm eagerly awaiting the announcement of book three and can't wait to continue the journey!

East of Envy picks up immediately where West of Wicked left off, with Dorothy being betrayed by Rook (AKA the Wizard of Oz) and left for dead. Now, she's forced to team up with the heartless mercenary Tin, who has his own personal vendetta against the Wizard.
Now this was so much better than its predecessor and was just fun to read. One of my biggest problems with the first book was the pace, and I nearly quit reading halfway through. That was not the case here; this was action-packed and got right into the story. I'm looking forward to the last book in the series.

Wow! After finding out who Rook really is, Dorothy's story continues. Dorothy and Tin go in search of who she really is and how it impacts Rook and Oz as a whole. This book was fantastic caused it answered so many questions, and of course gave us more to think about. I loved how the backstory flowed into the future.
I am on pins and needles waiting for the next one!

I am so glad that I decided to check this one out after not exactly loving book one. And I have to say that this one was a lot better. I loved the ongoing story and that it was much easier to follow and more engaging than book one was. I can say that I can't wait for the next book.
