This was a excellent conclusion to the (Sweetwater ranch series.) I loved this book. It had lots of action, suspense, twist and turns that I never saw coming. With this being the last book in this series, I don't want to spoil the story for you by giving you too many details about the plot. I will just say, this is a book, you will NOT want to pass by.

The story starts out with FBI agent Seth, and investigative reporter Shelby showing up to a abandon building. They had both received a phone call telling them to go to that location to find evidence on a case, each of them was working on. They didn't like each other at the time, they were enemy's. The two had to put their difference aside and become a team. They were tazered, drugged, and kidnapped. They had to work together to escape. The story starts out fast, and it kept that fast pace throughout the story. It was action packed, with a touch of romance. What I loved most is the twist and turns that I never saw coming. This story could be read as a standalone. There was enough back ground information giving, that if you had picked up the book fist, without reading the other books in the series, you wouldn't feel lost. I loved this series, and would recommend this series of books!

Excellent conclusion to the series. FBI Agent Seth Calder and investigative reporter Shelby Braddock both received phone calls telling them that there was evidence on a case each of them was working on in an abandoned warehouse. What they find is a crime scene, one that has been set up specifically to lure them in. Tazered and kidnapped, they have to work together to escape, and that isn't the end of the trouble.

Seth has been searching for evidence that will clear his stepmother of charges of murder. He's certain she's innocent, and thinks the evidence is out there that will prove it. His stance isn't popular with a lot of people, including Shelby, daughter of the man Jewell is accused of killing. She has been just as vehement in her assertions of Jewell's guilt, until recently. A post on her blog brought up a question that casts some doubt on Jewell's guilt. Suddenly she's the focus of multiple attempts to kill her.

Though turning her protection over to someone else makes the most sense, Seth finds himself unwilling to do so. The sparks of antagonism that have previously been flying between them have turned into sparks of a different kind. I loved seeing Seth get protective of Shelby, even though he was fighting the attraction he felt for her. He kept trying to tell himself it was just part of his job, but it kept getting harder to convince himself. Shelby felt the same heat of attraction, and fought it just as hard, but couldn't help admitting that he was the only one she felt safe with. Shelby's strength of will comes through often, as there are so many times that it seems she can't take any more, but rallies to pursue the next lead. She also has a few lighter moments, such as when she teases him about running out of "clean FBI clothes" after their latest run in with their attackers. I loved seeing the changing family dynamics as Seth and Shelby got closer, continuing the blurring of the old animosities that have occurred in previous books. I loved the scene at the hospital between Seth and Shelby. Seth was pretty funny with his fumbling around, but sweet too. I loved Shelby's reaction.

The suspense and action in this story was non-stop. Whoever was after Shelby was not going to give up easily. As in the previous books, there were multiple suspects, each of whom had ample motive and opportunity. About two-thirds of the way through the book there was a twist that threw everything into confusion. It was interesting to see the effect that had on everyone's suspicions. The final showdown was intense and had me wondering just who all was going to survive to the end of the book. I liked how everything got wrapped up.

To begin with, when I requested this novel, I completely missed the fact that it was book #8 in a well established series (as well as the conclusion). While this fact did not keep me from fully understanding what was going on in this particular novel, it did make me feel as though I were missing something when past events were referenced.

That being said, I thoroughly enjoyed the nonstop action that encompassed this novel. You were literally thrown in at the beginning, and it kept going right up until the very (unexpected) ending. The characters were complex and interesting, and the killer was definitely not who I expected it to be! I loved the twists and turns that the author kept bringing into the mix, making you wonder who was behind everything (and who would survive) right up until the very end.

For a "romance" novel, I fount the main characters enjoyable. They weren't they type to fall in love (or into bed) immediately, instead they chose to fight it every step of the way, and that not only made the story better (in my opinion), but it also made them as characters more believable. Also, their "romance" didn't take center stage to the rest of the plot which is something I find happens less and less nowadays.

Overall, I not only enjoyed this novel, but the author's writing style as well, and I will definitely be checking out the earlier books in this series!

DISCLAIMER: I received a complimentary copy of this novel in exchange for my honest review. This has not affected my review in any way. All thoughts and opinions expressed in this review are 100% my own.

A good ending to a long series, it got really repetitive (they must sell tear gas at every corner store in Texas), but each story still kept me interested and not bored. Plus with the back story of the trial, I had to kept reading to find out what happen, which ended up being satisfying, except I wish it had an epilogue.

Wow, this was excellent. Often with romantic suspense and other mystery based books, I can guess the ending relatively soon into the book. With this one, however, I truly had had no idea. The mystery takes quite a few turns that I did not expect and kept me on the edge of my seat. Seth and Shelby are both sympathetic characters whose romance is lightly sprinkled throughout. The romance is nice but nothing special. While Seth and Shelby are at odds at the beginning of the story, I was grateful that Fossen did not unnecessarily drag out the animosity between them for drama as can often happen in romance books.

I very much enjoyed this book and series. The only thing I hate is that this is the last book in the series. FBI Special Agent Seth Calder has to try to keep his enemy journalist Shelby Braddock alive as someone keeps trying to kill her. They do not know if it has to do with an upcoming trial for Seth's stepmother who was accused of killing her father or if this is somehow related to her journalist stories. Lots of surprises in this one and you won't be able to figure out until the very last.

This is the final book in the Sweetwater Ranch series by Delores Fossen. This is the novel in which we find out the answers to the problems set forth in the previous books. Again, as with Ms. Fossen's other books in the series, the action doesn't stop from the first chapter until the end. There are lots of possible suspects to rule out before finding out who is the person behind all of the murders and crimes that have been happening. There are surprises along the way too!!

Hang on to your hat for this ride!

This book will finish the Sweetwater Ranch series, and is it ever a wild ride from start to finish! At one point I thought I was reading the final climax and was surprised as heck to be at 60%. The mind blowing twists and turns this book takes were nothing like how I thought this story would end.

This was a fun fast paced suspense story with a romantic element.
I liked Shelby and Seth, but had to wonder if there wasn't more backstory in the prior books of the series. There is a large and interconnected secondary cast that is very involved in the story.
This is my first book by this author, but I am definitely curious to read more.

Realistic characters. The beginning of the story is a bit dry and tedious. By the third or fourth chapter in I was getting the feel of the book. By the middle I was drawn in and ready to find out who was going after them. To be honest it's not a very memorable story.

A Lawman's Justice by Delores Fossen

5 stars

I liked this book to end the series on. It was exciting, suspenseful, lots of suspects and it had some twists I did not see coming. My questions were all answered. One short love scene, violence but not graphic, loved the plot.

Major plot of all six books was dealing with the murder of Whitt Braddock 23 years ago. He disappeared from his hunting cabin leaving lots of blood. Later bone fragments were found in the area of his. Whitt left behind 3 children and a wife.

Jewell O'Neal was arrested for it. She left the area at the same time leaving her DNA in the cabin. She also left her husband and three sons behind taking her twin daughters with her. Rumor had her having an affair with Whitt. She came back when charges were filed against her.

Shelby Braddock is an invesigative reporter. She has fought to have her father's cold case open. She was the baby and closest to her father.

Seth Calder is an FBI Agent and a stepson to Jewell. He believes her innocent. She is the only mother he remembers.

Seth and Shelby were both found themselves in a warehouse following an anonymous calls. They found a body with a mask of Whitt on his face. Then they were attacked. Someone wants them dead.

The only thing in common is the trial of Jewell but they are on opposite sides of it.

This is full of action, drama and mystery. It is a exciting conclusion to the story. No disappointment about how it ended.

I like Delores Fossen books. I will continue to look for books from her.

I was given this ebook to read by Net Galley and Harlequin and in return I agreed to give a honest review of A Lawman's Justice.

Another non-stop action story, that left me gasping.
There's a lot of tension in this story, not just from the action that let me bite my nails, but the family tree is rather mangled with lots of animosity and hostility.
A 23 year old murder, that has risen more questions, than giving answers. As Seth and Shelby both gets the tips of possible evidence in the old warehouse, upon arrival, they don't only have to face each other, the son of a woman accused of killing her father, but unforeseen, dangerous, and deadly events start to take place, and no one knows what or why things are happening. The only conclusion is, someone wants Shelby dead, and don't mind taking Seth at the same time, if that was to happen.
Ferocious, savage, explosive attempts on their lives just keep coming at them, putting lots of others in the harms way as well, as they are trying to find out who is behind the murderous attempts. The surprises and revelations keep coming, the unexpected twists in the plot kept me glued to my Kindle.
Seth and Shelby's feelings grow while trying to stay alive. The hidden attraction they have felt for each other is not so hidden anymore, it is actually so palpable, everyone around them can see it. The situation might not be the best for romance, but the passion runs deep, the desire they feel each other is undeniable.
The relationships in the families are braided, who's married to whom, and who is related to whom is something that took me a minute to keep straight, even though this is not the first book in the series I have read. But at the end, it was all clear again.
A true family saga, with passionate love over generations, and convoluted, puzzling suspense that leads to explosive action

Seth Calder is a Special Agent for the FBI on the search for evidence in a black Market baby ring. Shelby Braddock is a journalist in search of answers to a decades old murder case in which Seth's mother was to stand trial for murdering her lover, Shelby's father in a few days. There is no love lost between the two, but soon they have only each other to depend upon to survive a killers twisted plans.

Fast pace and filled with twist and turns, the conclusion of the Sweetwater series by Delores Fossen will keep its readers on their toes. Having missed all but the first book in the series I did have a few moments in the beginning of the story, but it became clearer. As an ending to the series I was gifted with fully developed characters and a tight plot that delivered in spades. A wonderful story that I am looking forward to going back to read the series from the beginning. Time to make plans for pay day. M rating is a solid 5 out of 5 stars.

This story is part of the author's Sweetwater Ranch series. I haven't read every book in this series yet, but I've read several. If you haven't at least read book one, I would not attempt any of the others because this is definitely one of those series where each couple gets some resolution at the end of their story, but several main plotlines are left open ended to carry throughout the series. This book in particular reveals the answers to write a few questions that have been hanging for a while even as it opens up all new cans of worms.

Seth's stepmother is in jail awaiting trial for killing Shelby's father many years ago. Seth maintains Jewell's innocence while Shelby works to make sure Jewell pays for her crime. When anonymous tips send them both to the same eerie crime scene, they become the focus of someone's deadly rage. Although Seth can't stand Shelby, his years serving the law won't let him leave her unprotected. He brings her to Sweetwater Ranch, enemy territory in her mind, in order to keep her safe. The two of them disagree at every turn, but neither can deny they have a strong chemistry. Giving in to their desires brings them minutely closer until a ghost from their past shows up to ruin it all and put Shelby at even greater risk. Seth is forced to choose between protecting his family or saving Shelby.

I really like this series and couldn't believe some of the awesome plot twists in this story. I'm totally ready for the next book.

I received an ARC from Net Galley for review.

The little town of Sweetwater Springs has seen its share of evil and death. Amidst the shadows, the series also saw the sage of the McKinnon family and Calder family coming together but on opposite ends of a murder that their mother is being put on trial. Relationships have gained, trust has been birthed and the murderer revealed along with secrets that have been buried for long.

This series ends with FBI Agent Seth Calder caught in the middle of the drama along with his family adversary, the annoying Shelby Braddock, the very daughter of the man murdered that put his mother on trial.

Shelby wants to get to the bottom of the murder that rocked her childhood and her nosing around puts her life in danger. Seth is hell bent on keeping Shelby alive for his own peace of mind and not to mention that he’s fallen for her hard. With bullets flying and secrets coming into light, both Seth and Calder have a battle on their hands to save themselves and that of their family members.

Sizzling with romance and pumping with danger, “A Lawman’s Justice” takes us to the conclusion of the series. Delores Fossen keeps the suspense going until the very end, keeping us enthralled and captivated. It is wonderful to re-visit the siblings as they all rally together to keep their family safe. With trust questioned, danger at every turn, and evil manipulating until the very end, the story keeps adrenaline going and heart beating fast.

Will miss this series for sure.

Hold on tight because this book moves at breath breaking speed. Once I started, I couldn't stop turning the pages.
When an FBI agent (who just happens to be a cowboy) gets a message that he can find evidence at an abandoned warehouse of course he goes to check it out. The last person he expected to see there was the investigative reporter who helped make sure his mother was sitting in jail for killing the reporters father. Someone wanted them together when the dead bodies started turning up....and it didn't take long to realize they may be next on the killers list. Danger around every corner and building heat that they shouldn't be feeling for each other makes it hard to save their own lives and those they love.
This is an excellent story of intrigue that will keep you guessing until the end. Delores has a real talent mixing the danger, romance, and intrigue into a story that takes you on a grand adventure. Can't wait to read her next book!

Is this truly the end? Will the truth finally set us free? Will my last question (you know is Jewell innocent) be answered? This series caught me at the very first book and held me until the last one... The second I started reading the first one I knew it wouldn't be the last because I had to have all my questions answered and a lot of them have been answered except for one and it seems to keep dangling in front of my face... I beg you for answers and still you pull the treat of them away from me hopefully finally I will have what I begged you for. What?! Seriously?! How Is That?!

Well it only took 8 weeks to finally get this one read! Not sure why it took So long! It was definitely an interesting tale between the Braddock's and the McKinnon's!!

Funny how the three Braddock's dating/married into the McKinnon family! Jewel (McKinnon) sister Kendall seeing Aidan, Jewels son Tucker married to Laine! And then this story of Shelby and Seth, Jewels stepson!

While I had a feeling a certain person was still alive, I had no idea it would turn out the way it did!!

This one, you really need to start at the begging!!!

The final book in the Sweetwater Ranch series and we finally solve the mystery that has been at the heart of the series. I admit I suspected all was not as it seemed and I was right. Of course there is a romance between two more of the characters. It starts out as just tension between two people who seem to be on different sides but changes as they face increasing danger. It is a satisfying end to the series.

This was the first book by Delores Fossen that I have read. I was given it at a Harlequin event. First I want to say that I usually do not read intrigue. The story was fast paced and written well, but since this is the conclusion to an 8 book series, I felt left out of too much of the story line. I was not emotionally attached to any of the characters, so I did not care what happened to them.

I'm sure I would feel differently if I had read the other books in the series prior to this one.

I won this book a long time ago - I honestly don't remember from whom or when. The story was good, but when you start on Book 8 of an 8-book continuing mystery you will feel like you've missed a lot. If I focused just on Seth and Shelby and the immediate events, it was an intriguing story. It's when you try to understand all the other characters and how they are related and the backstory involved with them all I got completely lost. I needed a family tree and a roadmap to figure it all out.
