Exciting conclusion to the Capitol K-9 Unit series. It was nice to finally read Erin Eagleton's story. She's been a prime suspect in the murder of Congressman Jeffries's son since the series started. Erin was a strong, likable heroine who was able to fend for herself quite well while being hunted down and on the run for months. I also loved protective hero (and former sweetheart of Erin's), K-9 officer Chase Zachary, and his wonderful canine partner, Valor. This was a sweet second-chance romance and an action-packed ending to what's been an enjoyable series.

Congressman Jefferies isn't the man his constituents believe him to be. Oh he has a lot of people fooled. Hiding behind a cloak of deceit this man has made Washington D.C. believe he is practically a saint. Why he's given large donations to many charities and founded a foster care center for kids who have lost their parents. But that was before his son found out who his father really was. Confronting the congressman was the last thing Michael Jefferies ever did before his father killed him and tried to pin the blame on his son's fiancee Erin Eagleton. Does money and power have full control over everything in Washington D.C.?
This book was a exciting , unpredictable read. Almost impossible to put down. Action packed and definitely entertaining. I was drawn in by the cover because any suspense book about Washington D.C. is intriguing to this reader.
I recommend to readers of suspense fiction. Readers of contemporary romance and Love Inspired books will enjoy this story too.
I borrowed a copy of Proof of Innocence from the Overdrive digital library. Review not requested. All opinions expressed here are my own.

The sixth and last book in the Capitol K-9 continuity series and it's a doozy! This is the one I've been waiting for since the very first story. I knew Erin was innocent, despite the evidence building against her and I adored Chase for adamantly championing her in the other books. LOL. Yes, I might just take my reader involvement to a whole different level from most folks. But really, I was euphoric to finally get to 'meet' Erin and she's everything I thought she would be -- and more. A stubbornly determined woman with enough grit and gumption to manage to stay ahead of her killer for months. All while accumulating information to clear her name.

Chase has been just as determined to find her -- not to arrest her though -- he wants to help prove her innocence. A true hero championing her cause. And, honestly, Erin's at her breaking point when he finds her. Action and mayhem ensue, with danger lurking in unlikely places. Proof of Innocence kept me on my toes right to the end. A glorious conclusion to an awesome series.

Oh -- and no worries if you've missed the other books. This one reads well as a standalone, though it does post major spoilers from the previous stories.

Love that Dog!

Lovely ending to the series. What a deranged villain they encounter. His pursuit of Erin, the only witness to his crime, is merciless. I love how Chase and Erin worked to trust God and one another. Trust and loyalty were key issues throughout the story. But honestly, it is Valor, the Belgian Malinois that brought me near tears. What a fiercely loyal champion this dog is. Praise God for the K-9 units (officers and canine partners) across the country. I really enjoyed this read.

#6 Capitol K-9 Unit

Erin Eagleton is on the run.

She saw what happened that night, and someone doesn't want her telling the truth. She will prove her innocence, and expose the corruption of the murderer ~ all why trying to keep one step ahead of her pursuers...those who want her dead, and the K-9 Unit, who want to question her in regards to the shooting.

She is so tired of running.

But who can she trust with the truth?

Will she be believed?

This is a good conclusion to the Capitol K-9 Unit continuity and I really love the dogs from the K-9 Unit which have a huge part to play in this series. I admit though, I enjoyed the Texas K-9 Unit continuity which came out in 2013 a lot more, but as I am not a city girl, nor am I a fan of the political arena (both of which are the backdrop to the Capitol K-9 Unit miniseries) I think that may have a lot to do with why I preferred the Texas K-9 Unit miniseries over this one. Despite all that, I did enjoy the series as a whole and was glad to get to know each of the team as they worked to solve the murders.

1. Protection Detail (Capitol K-9 Unit) by Shirlee McCoy 2. Duty Bound Guardian (Capitol K-9 Unit #2) by Terri Reed 3. Trail of Evidence (Capitol K-9 Unit #3) by Lynette Eason
4. Security Breach (Capitol K-9 Unit #4) by Margaret Daley 5. Detecting Danger (Capitol K-9 Unit #5) by Valerie Hansen 6. Proof of Innocence (Capitol K-9 Unit) by Lenora Worth

You really do need to read these books in order as each book, while a story on its own, also has a plot which runs and develops through all the 6 books, building up to the grand finale in book 6. This means that you will not only want to read this book, but also the preceding 5 in the series! So if you are looking for a one off story to read, then this is not the book for you. However, if you are short of reading material and want a series to get you going, then you might want to try out this series.

Also coming out near Christmas time there is another book centered around the K-9 Unit which I'm looking forward to reading:
Capitol K-9 Unit Christmas Protecting Virginia\Guarding Abigail by Shirlee McCoy
It will be nice to catch up with the K-9 team again, and seeing John Forrester, Dylan Ralsey and Virginia Johnson move from support players to main characters!

I like to finish what I start, but by the tenth time Erin doubts whether Chase believes her despite his repeated assurances, I gave up. I was already disgusted by how stupid hit men broke into places occupied by armed police with dogs but when attackers escaped, the dogs couldn't find them. The dogs didn't do anything but bark, growl, or give an alert. It was unbelievable that after three months the police were only now searching the car of a suspect they'd arrested long ago, and hadn't already tracked important phone records. There were far too many characters, most of whom were planning weddings, and everyone seemed tied to this case in one form or another. If I'd read the previous five books, maybe it would make more sense, but since I hadn't, it was utterly confusing. Erin and Chase keep praying and trusting in God, but never seem to give Him credit or thanks. At least the writing was good, without obvious errors, which saves this from a one-star rating.

so there are 6 books in this series n a Christmas one coming out soon.
I read Lynette's book n as I like K9's so much I got this book. I had to cheat(look ahead) to see if the story came together in this book which it does. I think it's amazing that 6 books with 5/6 authors wrote the same scenario plot but with 2 characters that had there own story along the way. So there are weddings galore in the planning, so there was someone out there that was a partner in the making but had to meet under difficult circumstances. Suspense was there, trust wasn't there always, a dog n trainer n the bad guy.

Finally, the truth is out. Poor Erin had to go through what she go through but then she didn't lose heart and kept on praying that God will protect her. Chase never gave up on looking for her ever since she went missing for about 6 months because of the death of her ex-fiancé that she was framed for killing him. Erin and Chase love each other but because of they are both from two different status her father doesn't approved of their relationship so they were separated and both are hurt and they meet again and he protected her and their feelings for each other came back.

This book kept on reminding me of the verse which is "When I am afraid, I will trust in You. In God I trust and am not afraid. What mere mortals can do to me?" Psalms 56:3-4.

Both of them put their trust in the Lord that everything will go well and prayed for protection too. The drama and action of this was so thrilling and scary because Erin witnessed the murder and the murderer is out to do whatever he can to kill her to pin for the murder. (want to know who is the actual killer/ mastermind of all these round up cases read the whole series to find out can't spoil too much of it).

You can purchase this book from Amazon, Kobo or other retailers.

Erin had broken it off with Michael, a prominent lawyer. And then seeing him killed before her eyes. They didn’t believe her, only as a suspect. She’s been on the run, a K 9 officer Chase has been looking for her, for 5 months.
They have another witness, he is only telling half of the story. The congressman is a powerful enemy. They find the safe houses they put her in, another shooting, the chase continues, trying to keep her alive, and find someone else to help fill in the pieces. Another good K 9 story, and a good series.

Last book in series. I have enjoyed reading this series. Lots of action and some twists and turns. In this one K-9 office Chase Zachary finally finds Erin Eagleton who has been running for her life. She is a person of interest in the murder of Michael Jeffries - Congressman Jeffries' son. Plus the Congressman has gone missing. Is he the one who killed his son? Why? Is the congressman the one trying to kill her and why? Will they finally figure out all the details? Will Chase and Erin survive?

This book started out good but became like the other storylines in the series. It was repetitive, long and boring.

Throughout this series the K9 handlers continued to have the bad guys slip through their hands literally. I liked Gavin in the first book however in books two-six he was a lousy boss not wanting to believe the evidence.

I recommend the very good review under Virginia Boylan because I’ve given this series enough of my time.

Never thought of myself as a “Book Snob” ... I LOVE to read & be entertained... since I read a book at least every other day, I was running low of options. So, out of desperation, I read my very first Harlequin. (At 72 years old) With that discovered an entire new Treasure Chest of light reading, enough suspense to keep me reading and so many to choose from!!

We've reached the end of the line with this round robin murder mystery. We've known who did it from at least the last book and finally the murder part is wrapped up, along with one of the personal stories.

Chase and Erin are a thread through all the books and featured along with this one accompanied by Valor, Chase's K-9 partner. They were high school sweethearts (not Valor but the two footed characters) who broke up, only to have Erin take up with murder victim Michael and conveniently Erin when fleeing ran into Chase and Valor on patrol.

They reunite now to prove her innocence and bring down the real culprit.

All the dogs are first rate, it's the humans who always seem a step behind. In each book, the bad guys break through security or take out witnesses. It all ends up in pretty tidy rows.

A few odds and end with another book, I'm sticking with this enough to wrap things up properly.

Erin Eagleton is on the run from Congressman Harland Jeffries after she saw him shoot his son and watch him die. Jeffries ordered his henchman to take her and kill her but she got away. After several months on the run, she has been found by her old flame Chase Zachary, Capitol K-9 officer. He believes her and tries to keep her safe until Jeffries can be found. Records have been found implicating Jeffries in corruption schemes and he will certainly go to prison. He is still out there and wants Erin dead.

While in high school, she was the wealthy daughter of a senator while he was the son of a farmer. He thought they were too different and a relationship between them would never work. Now they both realize they still have feelings for each other and want a second chance.

We finally finished the six book series. The boys enjoyed all of them.

Erin Eagleton was dating Michael Jeffries at the time of his murder. She's being chased and framed for the murder at the same time.

Chase Zachery has been looking for her since the day after the murder, when he identified her necklace, found at the scene of the crime.

We learn more about why Rosa Gomez was killed and what Michael was up to the night of his death. We also learn about Erin and Chase's previous relationship. And in the end we get to witness a little bit of happiness for all the officers of Capitol K-9.

Wonderful!

Another terrific book from this incredible group of authors. A great story line, a good mystery to solve. Keep those books coming, and we fascinated fans will keep reading, as we try to find more accolades, to let you know every book is just as interesting as the last one. And the K nine group gets accolades, too, proving how great they are!

It took me a while to get into this book, at some point have to start all over again because I just got lost somehow along the reading that was cut off here and there.

And also it took me a while to finish the book too, because the story plot was not as lots of grit and drama, not the usual plot that I always love to find in suspense or thriller books.

It was "the formula." Ms. Worth writes "the formula" very well, but it is still "the formula." In addition, there were at least three places where things may not have made sense. It would be a spoiler to list them, so, if you want to know, contact me.
