Debby Giusti is a medical technologist who loves working with test tubes and petri dishes almost as much as she loves to write. Growing up as an Army Brat, Debby met and married her husband – then a Captain in the Army – at Fort Knox, Kentucky. While I did like the main characters’ names, I found some parts to be unrealistic or have plot holes. To be even more honest, I was expecting Natalie to be tougher because of her past and not scream so much. This suspense book just wasn’t my cup of tea.

I enjoyed this romantic suspense story because of the realistic characters, red herrings, and surprise ending!

This book is completely clean in language and content.

Most of the military suspense I've read centers on special ops and other actions out in the field. However, living near a number of military installations and knowing a number of folks in various branches of military service, some of the more interesting stories I hear involve happenings on base. So, when I saw Person of Interest was a romantic suspense novel centered around an alleged crime that happens in military housing, it caught my eye. This book, from the inspirational Love Inspired Suspense line, starts off well, but a too-obvious villain and over-the-top crazy resolution dropped it in my estimation.

Veteran Natalie Frazier has returned to school, and welcomes the chance for some extra income by serving as nanny for a friend's baby daughter while the child's mother takes a temporary assignment on another base. Natalie has settled into her friend's duplex at Fort Rickman when one night she hears what appears to be an argument next door. Things escalate until Natalie hears what sounds like an assault in progress inside the neighboring unit. She summons help, only to learn that the woman living next door has been killed.

So far, so good. The author does a wonderful job of dropping readers straight into the action and as I read, I kept wondering what could come next. As it turns out, there's quite a lot left to unfold - some of it interesting, some of it ridiculous.

It turns out that the unit next door to Natalie's friend housed a CID agent and his wife. Because of the possible involvement of a CID agent, the MPs call out investigator Everett Kohl. Kohl is immediately taken by Natalie upon meeting her, but thankfully this doesn't stop him from doing his job. He interviews Natalie as a witness and not surprisingly at this point, authorities start off looking for any involvement the deceased woman's husband might have in the incident.

And this is where it starts to get weird. It turns out that Mason Yates, the CID agent whose wife was killed, formerly served at the same base as Frazier in Germany. Not only that, but the two worked in the same office and apparently had some very negative interactions. So, let's recap that. Not only do the heroine and the victim's husband get stationed in the same place, but they come to hate each other and then get reunited when the heroine takes a job in the unit next door to where husband lives. Feels a little like overkill, doesn't it?

Intensely exciting from the get go. Seriously mesmerizing stuff and a unique twist for the Love Inspired Suspense line. Really liked that aspect.

Natalie doesn't trust easily to begin with and then she finds herself in the fight of her life. She knows she's innocent of murder but how can she convince Everett? He wants to believe she is but the evidence is stacking up against Natalie and he's duty bound to follow orders... Isn't he? Such a dilemma as they both war with doubt and trust. Certainly ups the tension in both suspense and romance.

Fast-paced, action-packed with a page-turner of an ending that will leave you breathless.

I never got very interested while reading this book. Both Natalie and Everett kept deciding they liked each other, only to remember they couldn't trust each other. Natalie's interest in God came out of nowhere and without even a hint of curiosity beforehand. Everett's faith didn't show up until over halfway through. He labeled Natalie to her face as a person of interest, yet hauled her along on his entire investigation, even letting her sit in on his interviews. It's never explained who shot the window out at the cabin, which had the only good scene description. The whole book felt more like a report than any kind of immersive experience.

The book was exciting, which was great, and I read it in one sitting. However, the romance happened too quickly to be believable. Much of the dialogue felt unrealistic. I was distracted from the story by the somewhat amateurish writing. (And since when do modern printers have keys?)
I give it 2.5 stars.

I really liked this book! I felt for the characters and I thought that the story of Natalie's growing faith in the midst of a really difficult situation to be heart-warming. It read very similar to a Dee Henderson book. I don't want to give too much away, but I was a bit baffled by the speed of the burgeoning romance between the main characters. It didn't seem very realistic to me. I have to admit that I haven't read a whole lot of romance in years until recently and I'm beginning to like the ones in which the protagonists have very obviously fallen in love but they're not already planning their wedding just a few days after meeting.

Follow the murder mystery that starts in Germany and ends in Alabama.

Natalie knows she is innocent of murder, but trying to prove out is very difficult even with the help of CID agent, Everett. Overcoming the past is difficult for both of them. While they are learning to trust each other, Natalie is also learning the power of prayer.

Amazing book from the first page to the last. I usually read half a book a day but this book was so good, I couldn't put it down. A must read if you enjoy suspense books with military investigations solving crimes.

Listened to the audio. It kept my attention we while doing housework. Not a favorite and wouldn't listen again but not a waste if you have time. If you feel your time is limited there are much better options.
