If you like strange and weird things then you’ll love this

October 2, 2015The Ripley's books have been a staple in our house for over twenty years. Both of my kids loved them, especially my son. The books would keep them busy for hours as they oohed and ahhed over the entries.
The annual Believe It or Not has just released - this year's title is Eye-Popping Oddities. ( Those eyes are holographic and really do look like they're popping out!!) And though my son is grown and gone, - I had the book out on the coffee table - and you guessed it - he immediately picked it up. Ripley's Believe or Not books really do appeal to all ages. Including me!
Truth really is stranger than fiction.
An artist in England created a life size grocery store - with over 4000 items made from felt (and yes it looked real)
I loved this one! An Australian couple use cardboard boxes, junk - and their baby son - to recreate their favourite movie scenes
There's a hidden swimming pool in the Mojave Desert.
All 14 members of a Brazilian family have 6 fingers on both hands
An American man has collected over 75,000 pieces of McDonalds memorabilia
there are historical spotlights as well, from Ripley archives
and so much more - feats, art, food - and Beyond Belief....
Eye Popping Oddities isn't a one sitting read. It has so many entries that you'll come back again and again. Some are simply short snippets. Others are full page. And most are accompanied by full colour pictures.

Ok so call me a nerd or whatever but I am a huge fan of Ripley's. We have been to Ripley's in St. Augustine Florida at least 10 times, and a couple of weeks ago we went to the one in Orlando Florida. We also watch the show on tv. So when I was given the chance to get a pre-release copy of this book, I almost melted.
The book did not let me down either. I have spent hours pouring over it so far and I can see hours more in the future. Each page is filled with some of the weirdest things you can imagine, and people who are nuts enough to actually do them. There is not just one Oddity on each page some pages have 10 or more, some pages are packed with pictures, other leaves your imagination to figure out what it looks like.
The book did not let me down either. I have spent hours pouring over it so far and I can see hours more in the future. Each page is filled with some of the weirdest things you can imagine, and people who are nuts enough to actually do them. There is not just one Oddity on each page some pages have 10 or more, some pages are packed with pictures, other leaves your imagination to figure out what it looks like.

Always a fun & entertaining read w/pictures by Ripley! The front of the book has 3-D eyes that make you dizzy! LOL

When I started this book I felt grossed out because how people could have their eyeballs out of the socket. And this means that the person could dislocate and relocate the eye from its "orbit" or socket at will without any discomfort or effort.
This story also make me feel Weird and make my head start to hurt because some people have Human Tail and some people starts a Fire Fight with bare hands and bare-chest. The fire fight i would probably scream and would never do it again; and someone with a Tail I would be scared, maybe feel weird, and it would also be cool looking.
My favorite part would be the person "with the tail". I say this because think about it you only seen a animal with tail but a person that's just really because they would have extra self defense but not so cool because then people would start to make fun of that person and it's so, so, so sad. Its kinda like a disability.

This Ripley's book has some incredible oddities that will keep you reading all night. Not only your eyes will get popped but you will also laugh yourself a lot seeing a lot less-known bizarre facts. If you're into reading weird stuff, you can get this book for the odds of furious laughter.

This book is weird and disgusting, but I still like Ripley's books. It has all kinds of different stories in this book some about pets others about people. I would recommend this book to anyone who is looking for something weird, disgusting, or interesting.

July 30, 2017Reading this book was a great start to my day. I recommend this book to students and adults of all ages. I read about mind boggling thing like people with a tail, tattooed Santa, and people bungee jumping with there skin. I really enjoyed this book and everyone should read it.
