With two other careers to her credit before becoming a novelist and four states in which she's lived for extended periods of time, Sherryl Woods has collected friends and memories, along with way too much unnecessary junk.

"The friends are the only things I've brought with me through the years that really matter," she says. "I could probably live without one more chintz teacup, another tin-litho sandpail or another snowglobe, but I need those friends."

The theme of enduring friendships and families is always central to Sherryl's books, including her latest Chesapeake Shores series — THE INN AT EAGLE POINT, FLOWERS ON MAIN and HARBOR LIGHTS.

Author of more than 100 romance and mystery novels, Sherryl Woods grew up in Virginia. Over the years she had lived in Ohio and Florida, as well as California. Currently she divides her time between Key Biscayne, Florida and Colonial Beach, Virginia, the small, river-front town where she spent her childhood summers.

A graduate of Ohio State University School of Journalism, Sherryl spent more than ten years as a journalist, most of them as a television critic for newspapers in Ohio and Florida. For several years she also coordinated a motivational program for the more than 8,000 employees at the University of Miami-Jackson Memorial Medical Center.

Her first book, RESTORING LOVE, was published in 1982 by Dell Candlelight Ecstasy under the pseudonym of Suzanne Sherrill. Her second book, SAND CASTLES, under the pseudonym of Alexandra Kirk, was published later that same year by Bantam. She began using her own name when she moved to the Second Chance at Love line at Berkley Publishing. In 1986, she began writing full-time and also began her long career at Silhouette Books with the Desire title NOT AT EIGHT, DARLING, set in the world of television which she covered for so many years.

In addition to her more than 75 romances for Silhouette Desire and Special Edition, she has written thirteen mysteries — nine in the Amanda Roberts series and four in the Molly DeWitt series.

When she's not writing or reading, Sherryl loves to garden, though she's not at her best on a riding lawn mower. She also loves tennis, theater, and ballet, even though her top spin has long since vanished, she's never set foot on a stage, and she's way too uncoordinated to dance. She also loves baseball and claims anyone who's ever seen Kevin Costner in "Bull Durham" can understand why.

I read this book out of order. I read home to seaview first. I have to say that I liked that book so much better but his book was nice. I do like Hannah much more in this book. In Home to Seaview she was insecure and immature about her marriage to Luke. In this book she seemed stronger even though she was dealing with recovering from breast cancer and a pregnant daughter.

I don’t typically read books of the romance genre, but I’d say this was one of the better ones. Although the love story was predictable, I did get lost in the pages and felt like I was right in sunny Seaview Key with the characters. It was good writing style, I just wish the story had some more unpredictable twists and turns.

DNF. I wasn’t connected to any of the characters, I thought Luke was dumb and irresponsible, and it just wasn’t for me.

Bonito escenario, familia de mujeres, daños emocionales....enfermedad grave...Bien sin más.... quizás la enfermedad me aleja de la historia.

This is a second reading of the book for me. The heroine returns home to move her 84-year-old grandmother into assisted living of some sort and sell the family inn on a barrier island beach. The hero is a veteran back from Iraq who's come home to think about his next steps now his life has fallen apart. Lots of complications in this story but the heroine's main issue is the breast cancer she's worried about. She's doing well, but her mother recently died of the same cancer and she's frantic with worry. She's worried about a lot of things. And then a crush from her high school days-- the hero-- comes back to town.

I liked this as a quick beach read. It was very predictable, but I liked the vision of the quiet and peacefulness of the inn and the island.

A friend (MH) sent me this book in a box of books. I've read Sherryl Woods before but not this series. I didn't actually know this was a part of a series until the end of the book where there was a coupon (from 2014!) for the next book in the series. That said, I don't plan to seek out the next book in the series (but I also can't guarantee that it won't cross my path someday.)

WARNING SPOILERS MAY FOLLOW: READ ON AT YOUR OWN DISCRETION:

*****

Can you go home again? It seems that many of the people of Hannah's generation couldn't flee Seaview Key fast enough. Most haven't returned.

My biggest complaint of the book is the casual way the characters treat sex. Kelsey and Jeff end up with an unexpected pregnancy. He wants to get married. She's not sure and runs away to her mom (who's visiting Seaview Key planning to sell the inn and move her grandmother into assisted living). Later after Jeff follows her there, while none of that part of their relationship is settled, they're back in bed together.

Hannah, Kelsey's mom, hooks up with her high school crush, despite no discussions of their long-term dreams, plans, etc. Hannah still needs to face her fears about cancer recurrence that hold her back from considering long-term relationships, her feelings about her parents: a father who left them and never visited and a mother that Hannah blamed for that happening because the mother was the only parent left. Luke's still processing his Iraq experiences, the betray of his wife and his best friend, what he'll do professionally, etc. None of this seems like a good foundation for starting a forever romance.

Of course, in fiction, the author can always work out the problems in the way she/he wants them to. Real life isn't quite so neat.

I really enjoy reading this authors books, they're books you can lose yourself in, set in beautiful places with great characters.

This book did not disappoint in any way. ..

Seaview Key, an island off Florida coast served by ferry, Hannah grew up there with her Mum and Grandmother, left as soon as she could and now with a daughter, works at a successful PR job in New York. Having lost her Mum a few months previously she returns to Seaview Key to try and persuade her Grandmother to move into an assisted living facility on the mainland, and sell the family run B&B. Her Grandmother has other ideas, which soon become apparent!

Kelsey, Hannah's daughter has a bombshell of her own, she goes to Seaview Key for some advice, taking a leave of absence from college, can Hannah handle any more!

Then there's Luke, an old school friend of Hannahs who also grew up in the island. After divorcing his wife, who left him whilst he was on a tour of duty in Iraq, and almost got himself killed in the process, he goes home to Seaview Key to continue his recovery...

Secrets come to light, hearts are broken and are healed, the future is decided upon... a brilliant book and well worth a read. I'm really looking forward to the next book in the series. ..

There is a lot to this story!

I got this and book 2 from the library and then realized that I had already read both! However, this was still a good thing. It reminded me of why I enjoy books by Sherryl Woods! This story has a lot of emotions and different issues in it. This is not a simple boy meets girl story. It has depth. Hannah goes back to Seaview Key to try and convince her grandmother to move to a retirement community. Then she meets Luke who she had a crush on in high school, but who had dated her best friend. Luke has come back to figure things out and has agreed to help her grandmother get her B&B ready to reopen. Then Hannah's daughter calls and life as she knows it gets even more interesting!

The pace is more relaxed and the tone is uncertain yet hopeful with a character oriented storyline and suggestions of steam, but no details. The characters are vibrant and engaging. This story deals with the twists and turns that life throws in our way. If you like realistic contemporary romances with complex characters and a large cast from a small town, then this is for you! Read them in order and enjoy!

I haven't read much of Sherryl Woods but this was a good place to start. Hannah Matthews returns home to Seaview Key and the family-owned in to start the process of selling the inn and finding a retirement community for her feisty grandmother, Jinny. Hannah is a tough cookie - successful marketing exec based out of NYC - breast cancer survivor (maybe) - single mother - so at times she has a very hard exterior but there are reasons. Add to the mix her daughter Kelsey who quits college and returns home pregnant, refusing to marry the fellow college student who loves her. Also through in Luke Stevens who is a successful orthopedist surgeon wounded in Afghanistan who returns to Seaview Key to start over again. I enjoyed listening to the narrator who flowed through the words, never forgetting that the beach and water were as much a part of the story as the human characters. It was a really good listen.

'Seaview Inn' by Sheryl Woods was a peaceful read! The story revolves around a woman, her grandma, and her daughter, and it's all about their relationships and everyday life struggles. The book tackles some tough topics like cancer, college pregnancy, and decision-making, and how these challenges impact their lives. There's also some romance involved, with both the mom and daughter having their own love interests. I loved the grandma's character - she seemed really put together. The main character's cancer battle and anxiety about it coming back added depth to the story. The daughter's character felt a bit immature at times, but that made sense given her age. The book's pace is pretty chill, and not much dramatic stuff happens, but that's what makes it an easy read for a relaxing afternoon! oh and the word "incredulously" was thrown around a lot in the book. 😄

I just love Sherryl Woods books. This was no exception. She always makes me cry..Granted happy tears but I do cry! LOL

Hannah has to go back to Seaview. The one place she ran from and never wanted to come back to. But she is back home to get her Grandma to sell the Inn their family owns.

You should know it isn't going to be an easy task for Hannah.

She is recovering from breast cancer and has a hectic life as a big time worker. She has to be working all the time..

Once home her daughter calls with unexpected news than come to the Inn.

The guy Hannah crushed on Luke shows up too.

Reading how everything works out for everyone keeps you turning the pages. This is a must read book!

Hannah Matthews is a breast cancer survivor, who is able to be the go-to person for her boss yet she is unable to stop the stress of thinking about her cancer coming back and it has put an unhealthy slant on her relationship with her grandmother and an old friend Luke Stevens. She tries to get her grandmother to move into a retirement home and give up Seaview Inn. When her daughter comes home pregnant and decides to stay and run the inn with grandma help Hannah is faced with some unwanted choices. A decent read.

Seaview Inn is a super cute, fairly typical "Beach Read", which I actually had some opportunity this summer to literally read this on a beach for a bit. I enjoyed the story. Hannah's character really bugged me at the beginning and I could not for the life of me figure out why Luke fell for her. She just seemed judgemental of anyone who chose to stay (or return to) Seaview Key and she seemed grumpy and bossy. Her character redeemed herself slightly towards the end though. I am interested in reading more in this series. I hope the next book focuses on Kelsey though.

I really enjoyed this book but that is no surprise to me. I always enjoy books by this author. I can't wait to read the second book. I enjoyed most of the characters and the plot line. I think others who enjoy chic lit and romances will enjoy this book as well. It was predictable but in a good way. It wasn't overly sappy but did have some sappy parts. The relationships between mother and daughter, grandmother and granddaughter, the main characters were all believable. I would recommend this book to others who enjoy this genre.

This was a wonderful book!
In this book, we meet Hannah, a successful PR person who lives in NYC. She takes a trip to Seaview Key to try and convince her grandmother to sell the family inn. An old friend from high school, Luke, decides to book a room at the inn and promises to help her grandmother. Hannah has no idea that Luke will be there. Old feelings arise between the two and a wonderful friendship ensues.
Hannah’s daughter, Kelsey, comes to stay at the inn to work through her own problems.

This was a decent if not predictable story. I felt like the ending was very sudden, I would have liked to see more details of how life went. The story was long, a bit drug out and annoying. I listened to this book on audible and the narrator was kind of boring so while the characters were like able and well developed the boring voice of the narrator held them back some. It wasn’t a bad book, just not the most exciting either. The location was wonderful tho, I want to go to Sea View Key! Lol

This was a bit tame and predictable to me. There was a lot going on - Hannah’s mother’s recent passing, her own breast cancer remission, wanting her Grandmother to sell the Inn, discovering her long lost father, an old crush moves to town, his divorce/custody drama and her college daughter’s relationship drama too. It was just too many things that worked out perfectly.

Hannah goes home to close up Seaview Inn and put her Grandmother in a nursing home. But her Grandmother balks. then her daughter announces she is pregnant. She tries to settle in life on Seaview Key which is hard as she falls in love with an ex-soldier with problems of his own. Good story. It kept me very interested and I fell in love with all characters.

A lovely story of a family business (an inn), a very small town where everyone knows each other, family histories and secrets. The recipe for perfect summer reading. I enjoyed the three generational family dynamics and the romances. As usual Sherryl Woods has delivered an unusual, small town based story with interest for everyone.

This was a good summer read. Although Hannah got on my nerves because she was so stubborn, I found myself rooting for her and Luke. I love how the story ended and I hope that their story continues in the rest of the series.
