First crush, first love, first kiss—Chloe must choose between her virtual almost-boyfriend and her best guy friend in this addition to the sweet and clean Flirt series.
Chloe has the best almost-boyfriend ever. Trevor is smart, talented, witty, and good-looking. Basically, he’s the perfect guy for her—except for one tiny detail. He lives hundreds of miles away. Chloe met Trevor at music camp when they were kids and was so excited when they reconnected in an online music forum a few months ago. And they’ve been flirting non-stop ever since.
Chloe’s boy-crazy best friend Vanessa thinks it’s the most romantic thing she’s ever heard, though her other best friend, Kazuo, isn’t so sure. Turns out Kaz actually has a crush on her! Chloe can’t imagine her life without him, but she’s never thought of him that way. Still, Kaz talks Chloe into giving him a chance and going to the big school dance together. Chloe is almost ready to agree when she gets the most amazing news—Trevor is coming for a visit!
But when Trevor shows up, things don’t go quite as well as Chloe was expecting, and by the time she realizes her old camp buddy has changed—and that he might not be Mr. Perfect (for her) after all—Kaz has already asked Vanessa to the dance. Did Chloe just miss her chance at true love?
This is the first book I've read of this series (I have been wanting to read it since last year, but have been reading other things) and finished it in two days! There are no cuss words and no sex. Only one kiss scene. The romance is so sweet and I found the story to be very engaging! Chloe was such a silly character, and realistic in her reactions to love as a young teen. She did annoy me sometimes, but gets better. I love Kaz, and Vanessa's such a great friend. I also like Maya. Trevor got on my nerves more often than not. He was a bit of an arrogant jerk. The ending made me happy though! This is definitely a book/series to look into--a feel-good winner! These are the kinds of YA Contemporary romances I search for!
Alright! So let me start off by saying that I received this book from the lovely people at Simon and Schuster Canada
When I started reading Virtually in Love, I found it fairly slow to start. For me it took about halfway through to really get into it more and enjoy the story. You can really tell how old they are in this novel, because the language kind of shows through it.
From the beginning, I got the sense that Kaz was having some sort of feels for Chloe, and also that Trevor came off totally not how Chloe described him. I felt like there was more of a one-sided relationship between Chloe and Trevor. Also the fact that they never really talked about being an official couple, made the idea seem as if it was totally possible to drop each other like a hot potato.
There was one quote that stood out for me while reading. It's Chloe's perspective on first love and what it really means (at lest for a 15-year old.)
"Romance wasn't about a single night, moonlight or otherwise. It wasn't even about a special first kiss...it was about being comfortable together. being able to count on each other, being happier than when you were apart."
Overall this was a cute, and lighthearted read. I found the writing style to be very well done, as well as having current language put into it. I think that the adventure that Chloe went on had a lot of ups, downs, and a whack of loops in between. However, I did find it to be fairly slow, only having really getting there about halfway through. I think it would have been better to have more happen after the ending.
Virtually In Love is one of those books where you will fall in love in the being or never fall in love with it at all. I am personally not a fan of this book just because I felt like this book was dragging on. Others have ever fell head over heels with this book. Virtually In Love is about this girl named Chloe who has two bests friends named Vanessa and Kaz. Chloe and Kaz has been friends since they were in diapers. Chloe always saw Kaz as just a friend, but Kaz been seeing her in a different way. Chloe been talking with this guy online, they meeted back in band camp, back when they were younger. She thinks she is falling in love with him, because of the song her and Vanessa are obsessed with called “True Romance” and her and Trevor seem to fit the song perfectly. When Kaz asked her out to the school dance as more than just friends she might just say yes until she finds out Trevor is coming, but with him here it might not be true love after all. I would not recommend this book because it was just too repetitive, with them talking about the song talking about the dance constantly and talking about this dance a thon that they host. Also because this book gets good but then goes bad if you ask me.
So I wasn't really a fan of this. It got really repetitive. Chloe thinks Trevor is "the one". Kaz likes Chloe. All Trevor wants to talk about is his band. I found Chloe to be a real hipocrit when it came to that. She found it so boring but at the same time all she thought of was true romance and a song by that title. Like constantly. As in out of pure curiosity I may go back through and count how many times that is said. My daughter seemed to like this so I'll probably just give it to her.
This book was AMAZING! If your a teen I would highly recommend this book, because we all have a story like this one where we are torn between romances or we have friends dating and it is awkward. In conclusion, this is a great read for teen girls! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
