Useful early reader to support emotional self regulation. To calm down we can take a deep breath, or hug ourselves, or talk to a grown up. The Daniel early readers have pretty consistent messaging whether you're feeling silly, sad, or mad.

Miss 4 and I like to explore different books and authors at the library, sometimes around particular topics or themes. We try to get different ones out every week or so; it's fun for both of us to have the variety and to look at a mix of new & favourite authors.

As a librarian, I'm almost obligated to like this book.

Daniel learns a calming technique--hugging oneself and taking a deep breath. He teaches it to his friend Prince Wednesday, who hops up and down ribbiting like a frog while X the Owl is trying to read the kids a story at library story time. I totally remember wanting to do random obnoxious stuff like that as a kid, unable to contain my energy.

I wish I still had that much energy now, but taking a deep breath can sometimes feel good anyway.

I think my little is too young for this one yet. She loves watching Daniel Tiger, but wasn't as interested in reading about him.

Thursday night, Christopher selected Daniel Tiger Visits the Library, another library selection. I thought it was a Level 1 book as well, but it's actually Pre-Level 1, which I hope means parents are supposed to read it to their children because this one was a little trickier.

I really liked this book because in addition to being colorful and fairly easy to read, it has a positive message. We watched the TV show a few times when Christopher was younger, and we recognized the rhyme (song) - about calming down. I need to use it in real life because Christopher often gets over excited or upset still.

I really like the simple texts and how the story addresses the audience directly. This will help with my fidgety new kindergartners. Now if they'll just write a story about taking care of a library book! LOL

Five stars from my tiger-loving one-year-old. This one actually isn't too bad. It's very simple and concise—and it follows the episode of the TV show exactly.
