This caught my eye because I have the Oracle deck that goes along with this 😍 (one to die for by the way) so you can imagine my surprise - who knew there was a book to go along with it!? 😱

This was meant to be.
This book... is a bible; for me to hold on tightly to, for me to remain center myself, and be present and stay grounded. .

I am pleasantly surprised by this book. The author treats the Rituals from other cultures so compassionately, no wonder the Elders recognises her as one of them!

As a scientist, I found her description articulate and gives the Ceremonies the due recognition they deserve; these Rituals survive because they have a place in human evolution as a whole. What struck me interesting is (or maybe it shouldn't, considering the human roots have an African origin) the similarities of the Rituals throughout the different cultures in different continents. Even the Judeo-Christian Religions have similar pre-civilisation roots; Water Rituals like baptism in Christianity, Tvilah in Judaism, Wudhu in Islam. The Rituals binds humanity, fostering the survival of good traits like Altruism, Tolerance, Community Spirit, etc.

As a child of a 3rd world who had the honour of growing up witnessing a lot of Rituals and Ceremonies, then left for studies abroad in "Civilisation", and currently living in a Land that is a Fragmented combination of the two, this book has helped me come full circle. The Nomad has come home, being welcomed by Rituals of an adopted Land. Thank you for helping me understand it.

The Afterword, "Our Legacy to the Future," would have been better as a preface as it emphasizes the urgent importance of becoming an Earthkeeper, guardian of our planet. Throughout the book the author draws from her own Native American culture and fascinatingly similar traditions from other peoples who share spiritual closeness to nature. I couldn't give the book 5 stars because it seemed disjointed and at times irrelevant to me. But the author's message wins this book a place in my small "must re-read" pile.

Excellent read!! I have read this book twice now. It was very personally for me in that I am a distant relative to the author and Cherokee tribe. Covering many aspects of native cultures across the globe with her own experiences this book is a testimony to native spirit. Gives lessons on crafting native objects and other aspects of the cultures like ceremonies or sweat lodges. Very inspirational to my personal and career developments.

Very interesting

I thought this book was very interesting. It makes you think more about your surroundings. I never gave it much thought to remove rocks and cut seedling from the forest or places that I have visited but I now know that we should be asking for permission as everything on this earth has a purpose.

Although my connection with this book was brief, I found my spirit guide and was reassured I am on the right path.
May this read ignite the flame within that will allow you to walk your path your way.

I loved this book. As a Witch, so much of this was applicable. It’s down to Earth, easy to try, and most the ideas have been found across the globe. I loved hearing the similarities of beliefs and practices from everywhere. Her writing is easy to follow and she explains things well.

I was drawn to a new book called Kindling the Native Spirit, by Cherokee tribe member Denise Linn, largely because Native American spiritual traditions were not something I knew a great deal about and I wanted to learn more.
I have often wondered about my own interest and longing of ancient traditions and rituals. Now I understand that "Being Native isn't what's in your blood; it's what's in your soul." (this is the headline of one of the chapters of this book). This has brought it home.
I’m not qualified to say how accurately Kindling the Native Spirit represents Native American, New Zealand or Australia traditions, but I can say that it's a delightfully, warm, beautiful and educational well written book and has inspired me to try out a few things within its pages.

It took me awhile to read this book. I had one idea of what the book was about. But as I started to read it it took me in a different direction in a sense. I knew this would take me further in my spiritual journey. I think you should read this with no preconceived notions. That is why I stopped. I thought this is not for me. After 2 months I said I needed to finish it before i start a new one. As soon as I picked it up. I could not stop reading it. I read 80% of this in just a few days. It was eye opening and allowed me to experience a new level of awareness. I really liked it and may look for other books by Denise Lin.

Excellent book, very well written. It's not fluffy for those who don't like that sort of thing and delves deep enough in each topic that you feel compelled to learn and want more. The teachings in this book are invaluable to any path you choose or live, any lifestyle. Definitely one I'll be referencing to often and rereading for years.
As a side note, I got the oracle cards soon after finishing this book and they are both well worth the money. Once I read the book, the oracle cards became a part of my life and a trusted, intuitive guide.
Denise Linn has a new fan.

This book provides so many sacred rituals and techniques, as well as great ancient knowledge to enrich our lives. Here are a couple of extracts I found extremely intriguing and fascinating:

-"Recent science has been giving credence to the idea that memories can, in fact, travel through the generations in our DNA."

-"Trees have souls... Plants and trees communicate with each other via a connection network. Some plants even have a memory."

-"Feathers bring you blessings. Pay particular attention to feathers that you see in unusual places."

-"Traditionally the full moon was thought to be the time of fertility (ovulation at its peak)."

-"Every biological function of the body follows precise cycles that are dictated by the sun...for example a body's metabolism slows down in the autumn."

This is all kind of "new knowledge" to me, yet it makes so much sense!!! I really LOVE this book and can't wait to read other works from Denise Linn.
