The Wright Brothers first took their flyer soaring in 1903—and less than a century later, rockets flew us to the moon. Experience the evolution of aviation, from the earliest pioneers to the complex technology of military jets and beyond, as inventors and aviators with skill and imagination push the limits of possibility. A rich selection of photos includes images of groundbreaking designs, patents, and logbooks from record-breaking flights.
Such a cool book with rare photographs and documents that showcases the historic evolution of aircrafts. Since I am an aerospace engineering student, I was hoping to read more technical information about how flight enthusiasts were able to overcome flight problems, but it seems that this book is intended for the general public.
I have different versions of the book one was The 747 hardcover(doesn't come with dustjacket) I got at B&N I love that cover, the other is a nice slipcase with The concorde on it, an older edition it has some materials in there replicated from that period, text and pictures are the same. Pretty short histories, good pictures, love the covers the way they are put together but do not care for the Authors/publishers putting in a picture and caption about the then 80s antinuke crowd(which were proven wrong anyways). It has no place in a book that is about aviation and praising aviation.
